  1. I personally have the feeling any gemstone would work, since my idea is that it would work as an impromptu gemheart, with the gem becoming part of whoever swallows it, and allowing for connections with spren, with in this case the Unmade being the one who creates the connection. P.S. Dalinar mentioned people in Urithiru trying to swallow gemstones in order to become surgebinders. Does Odium now have a bunch of sleeper agents in Urithiru?
  2. I feel the death rattles and the unmade already do that one without any help.
  3. Thanks for the song, enjoyed it. For the death words, I'm not so sure. From what I remember, they work by doing something really low energy that still does fatal damage, like severing nerves, or opening arteries. I'm not sure if that would also kill a surgebinder with stormlight however, as IIRC the only reliable way to kill them is to bash their brain in. Jasnah was able to survive a knife through the heart. I have a feeling that simply severing nerves and arteries would just be healed back immediately. Because of the small amount of damage done it might even cost a lot less stormlight to heal than sticking a sword in somebody or throwing fireballs at them.
  4. What would happen if you stored the flakes in oil, and drank that? From what I can find, oil is normally used to store alkali metals in real life, and IIRC in BoM Wax is given his metals in a whale oil solution, so you should be able to drink metals this way. The main issues are whether or not whale oil prevents ettmetal from exploding (oil seems to work for normal alkali metals, but I'm not a chemist), and making sure that the ettmetal stays inside of the solution while being swallowed. P.S. I think this is what @Keithfta is trying to say? P.P.S @Keithfta, you can quote people while editing you post by selecting the text of the post you want to quote. If you move your mouse away a message saying "quote this" should pop up. Press it and the quote appears at your text cursor in the text box.
  5. Maybe he accidentally used a brass spike containing Feruchemical bronze?
  6. Eshonai's spren has passed on to Venli, so it's likely that the next book will be the Willshaper book, with Venli as primary Willshaper. Edit: Or Dustbringer.
  7. Szeth and Nightblood will meet Vasher, whereupon Vasher will be outed as a worldhopper, and Vasher's reaction will be "Give me my sword back, son".
  8. I think that this says it all. Providing stormlight is exhausting for Dalinar, so he probably can't keep it up for long before needing to rest.
  9. Welcome, have a cookie.
  10. Scott meyer, Magic 2.0. Nerds find a file that alters reality, get in trouble, go to the middle ages, and use programming to alter the file and create "spells" and pass themselves of as wizards.
  11. Later in the same WoB we get this: Given the size of the perpendicularity on Patji, and the fact that humans aren't capable of directly using magic, I'd say that a Shard only partially infested in First of Sun. As for which Shard, I'm in the group that thinks it's Bavadin (Autonomy), mainly because of the information that she has a habit of spawning religions in the cosmere, with there even being religions where she is every god in the pantheon.
  12. The DA already has a non-hemalurgic research devision. It's hidden three dimensions away from alley 19π.
  13. Does anybody know a good place to get a lot of Mistwraiths? I need them for tests with creating spikes that transfer physical appearance. A couple hundred live octopi would be nice too.
  14. Kenod sneaks away, hoping some people decide to taste their samples.
  15. ?
  16. ... Ookla ...
  17. Oathbringer spoilers:
  18. Kenod walks in and sets up a small table next to the door, with a plate full of cookies, and a sign saying: "Free cookies, take one DA".
  19. Wax and Wayne takes place after the first five SA books, so yes.
  20. Kaladin getting land isn't an issue, as according to Vorin tradition, he is a lighteye, because he owns a shardblade.
  21. You do have Wayne and Melaan snogging in BoM.
  22. Now I'm wondering, would you be able to spike a shard holder? Recent research has uncovered the possibility of spiking spren, although not yet the method, so would a shard holder be in the realm of possibility? ... Time to start experimenting.
  23. If you are talking about using obsidian and stone for bottles, first of all, glass bottles are easier to produce, and a lot lighter than stone. I'm not sure if you can actually create bottles out of stone, at least not without using clay, and clay can break too. Obsidian is actually a type of glass, naturally occurring volcanic glass. And while hard, it is also quite brittle. This is actually why certain civilizations (and Inquisitors) used obsidian for their weapons. Hit it right and you can fairly easily break it, and get extremely sharp fragments (Macuahuitl, old aztec weapon). All this means that for using them as bottles, glass is superior to the other materials you listed for ease of working with them, and for using them as weapons, Inquisitors did see how good obsidian was, and used it for their axes.
  24. I don't think so, a quick search on bol.com returns only dutch versions for Mistborn, Elantris and Reckoners.
  25. Ah, alright, thanks.
