If investiture makes things heavy, do you think Returned are extra heavy? What about a Radiant channeling investiture? A Mistborn in a pushing battle? It's those last two that makes this idea of investiture= weight unlikely. Vin still looses pushing battles, and there is no mention of Kaladin feeling that he falls extra fast when he is falling from that bridge above the chasm. I feel like if an invested object is heavy, an invested person would be heavy as well.

theory Greatshells fought in the desolations
Farnsworth replied to Farnsworth's topic in Stormlight Archive
Maybe the Siah Amians bleed Orange like the Parshendi, and the Dysian Amians bleed Purple like the Greatshells? That would make sense because cremlings have shells, and may be distantly related to Greatshells. -
There are currently three sentient species on Roshar (that we know of): Amians, Parshendi, and Humans. Those three species were likely fighting in the Desolations, with the humans and the "good guys", the Parshendi as the Voidbringers, and the Amians fighting on some side or another. In the prelude, Kalak notices that Since Parshendi blood is orange and human blood is obviously red, I figured that Amian blood must be purple. There are two problems with this though. First of all, the Sleepless are made of insects and insects don't have blood. They have hemolymph, but that isn't colored usually. Siah Amians could have made the blood, but there is another problem with that. When Adolin cuts open the gemheart, So it must be the Chasamfeinds, or some sort of Greatshell, that fought in the desolations. Are there sentient greatshells? Where were the Amians? Ideas?

Roshar is supposed to advance as well, although not as far as Scadrial. Roshar would probably have a base ten number system, maybe Braize would have a base 9, and so on. That could lead to some interesting confusion when the societies meet.

What are the limits to what can be awakened?
Farnsworth replied to Hemalurgist's topic in Warbreaker
This is probably similar to the answer he gave about live sprenblades becoming two separate objects. It's theoretically possible, but it would take so much investiture that it wouldn't really be practical for anybody except maybe Susebron. -
What should I look for in my first reading of Warbreaker?
Farnsworth replied to Napoli's topic in Warbreaker
Pay lots of attention the 5 scholars, and Nightblood! You will learn what they are fairly early on in the book- 10 replies

Homeworld of the Ones Above
Farnsworth replied to Paracosmic_nomenclator's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Also, the magic used is a bit like Smoking, but with a machine. -
Dakhor monks. They are strong, but the axe could cut them, while the blade would have to hit the plate a few times before really injuring the person. Would you rather miss 1/20th of all the WOBs given out, or have no WOPs ever?

Yeah, that does seem like it would be pretty traumatizing. Thanks!

@Flash Where did you get that? I don't remember that, although I could easily have missed it.

I had always assumed that Shallan's soul had "broken" and allowed spren to enter when she killed her mom. Or, maybe even later when she killed her dad. But then I was rereading it, and realized that her mom tried to kill her because she was a Radiant. She also had a shardblade. That means her soul was broken even before then. What could have happened? Was it something her dad did?

Most Overrated Character
Farnsworth replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in General Brandon Discussion
ADOLIN!!!! Look, I get why people think he's interesting, and he is a great guy (especially when he killed Sadeas). However, I just don't get the same vibe of crazily-developed-character from him as from others. Sure, he's interesting, but nowhere near as interesting as most other characters, especially for all the hype he gets. -
If he was simply a proto-Lightweaver, that doesn't really matter. However if he had begun to attract a spren, and was in the stage Kaladin was in before Teft showed him his abilities, that could be interesting.

I see what you're saying, but I think the point is that the dead in stone are in the Tranquiline halls.

1) Kaladin will meet Larel and they will fight 2) Kaladin's father will be furious at him for being a soldier instead of a surgeon 3) Syl and Pattern will fight 4) Shallan will admit a truth that has to do with Veil vs Shallan

That's really neat! It would be extra interesting to figure out what the Irali do with their dead, because we are more aware of where they have migrated from. This is an interesting bit of information that I forgot about. Could this be so that their Cognitive and Spiritual aspects stay with their physical body?

Your Least Favorite Cosmere Story And Why
Farnsworth replied to Stonesinew134's topic in Cosmere Discussion
As a big fan of SfS, I'll say that while the plot and characters are less good than most of Brandon's, I love Threnody. I love the forests. The crazy mysteriousness of it, and that wonderful statement of Silence's about the forest being a predator. I love the vibe. But I can definitely understand why you feel differently, since it is more heavy on the soft magic than most of Brandon's books. -
This is what I heard as well. I think it was from the AU shardcast. This is what Brandon says, and while I think it is a valiant attempt, those aren't really the Shabbat rules. There are 39 rules, and one of them is no fire. So that does correspond with one of the Simple Rules. However, running is allowed, and drawing human blood isn't really ever allowed unless it's necessary. Drawing blood for meat is allowed. So I'm not really sure where he got the idea that those two sets of rules are similar.

If you were Brandon, what would you change?
Farnsworth replied to ICanDream's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I would have chosen a different graphic novalist for White Sand. I think it could be really good as a graphic novel, but the publishing company wasn't very good. -
Apocalypse Guard is on!

I am, and always will be, a Cosmere purist. So I am completely with you abourt Mistborn. -
THRENODY!!!! I need more threnody. What are the Deepest ones? How does the dead form of Ambition manifest itself? What is it like to be one of the fortfolk? And what are more awesome Puritain names?

Elantris is probably portable around Arelon though. Aon Reo is based of the shape of Arelon, so Reo should work anywhere on that land mass. I don't know that there is any reason that Elantris had to be in a certain location. Also, we're not sure how it was made in the first place. For all we know, somebody just carved an Aon Reo into the ground and grew the city from there. Maybe there could be two Elantrises (Elantri?) in Arelon.

Kaladin is more honourable than Dalinar?
Farnsworth replied to discorat's topic in Stormlight Archive
He worked for Sadeas, and betrayed Sadeas. Same with Amaram. I believe I first saw this on an old state of the Sanderson. However since I can't find it, don't quote me on it. -

Kaladin is more honourable than Dalinar?
Farnsworth replied to discorat's topic in Stormlight Archive
Best quote ever. I think much of the purpose of the Stormlight archive up until now has been to show the importance of honor. I think that soon, especially dealing with Szeth, it will start to show where Honor may not be the best policy. I know that the first 5 book ark will be focused on Honor and the second on Cultivation, but I think that even now, we are beginning to see the issues with Honor. So I think that Dalinar would be the most honorable since he sticks to the Codes, where Kaladin would be the better person.
