  1. Since the bondsmiths are of Honor, I think it's more likely that there are simply three powerful spren of Honor that the Bondsmiths bonded to.
  2. 1) I kind of like the flashiness, but I do agree that it is a bit over the top. 2) Yeah, that was weird. There was also the issue with Slatrification, where Brandon said that plants living on the sand make the investiture, so slatrification doesn't make sense. 3) I will never get over that. She looked like a flashy Egwene. 4) I think he means that he prefers not to use them (that's why he didn't use it in the battle) but he will if he has to (thus holding one) I agree, it was one of Brandon's less good books.
  3. Threnody isn't much fun If you anger a shade you are done Nazh ran off with Khriss And now watches in bliss While she threatens Kelseir with a gun
  4. Here you go!
  5. Before reading this theory, I recommend you read this one, as my theory is strongly based off it. The gist that theory it is that there is something wrong with Roshar's afterlife, and souls are unable to go to the Beyond, and instead stay in the Cognitive Realm. Anyways, here's my idea. What we know 1) Stone is important in the Shin religion. Shin will not break it, step on it, or mar it in any way. 2) When Parshmen die, other Parshmen "wrap them in linin and carry them out into the wilderness and leave them on slabs of stone". This is one of the only sapient actions they are seen doing. 3) Talenel is the Herald of war, and his essence is stone. 4) Living things are represented by flames when alive, and become like ordinary objects when dead. What I think When a sapient being dies on Roshar, their physical aspect becomes their corpse, and their cognitive and spiritual aspects go into stone. The Shin feel that breaking stone would harm the dead people, and the Parshmen want their dead to be near stone so they can move easily to it. Talanel probably isn't leading the current fight to reclaim the Tranquline Halls or their equivalent at the moment, but if he had been in the past, stone is his element and he would probably have an easy time accessing souls who are in stone. When Shallan went into Shadesmar, she was unable to tell the difference between something that had never been alive and something dead. If stone contained the cognitive and spiritual aspects of the dead, it wouldn't be bright or anything like that. Ideas?
  6. I don't know that it would lower the breath cost significantly. While birds are more similar to humans than sticks, they are still fairly different. You would probably have to made it humanoid to significantly lower the cost.
  7. Or an arrow shaped like a human. Maybe a guy with a pointy head, and his arms flared out for stability?
  8. By @Calderis's system, i'd be a third. I feel more like a seventh though, swing as most of my shardic activity is making weird cosmere theories that quickly are disproven.
  9. Time for some random speculation: Acording to the Tor article, there was some debate over how skirts behave in water. So... We know that some female character walked into a pool (ocean? lake? bath?) of water with a skirt on. Who could this be?
  10. Amaram, of course! He a freaking demon of death and evil and badness. Why am I the first person to mention him? Roshone is close second.
  11. Nazrilof for sure. Since he's from Threnody, he's probably got a really Puritan first name, and his last name sounds kind of Russian, and the combination of the two sounds super awesome.
  12. I think this quote would indicate that the killing of Hoid is rather difficult Nightblood was an imitation of a shardblade, so I think nightblood could not kill Hoid.
  13. Nale didn't really give him a choice, from what I understand. Harmony was nice and gave Wax a choice. Nale doesn't seem like the most empathetic guy, so I'm guessing he just grabbed Nale out of Cognitive realm.
  14. I love this idea! Upvote! However, I think it's a bit unlikely that this was the origin of Nightblood. Vashar was named "Warbreaker the Peacefull", and killing 2640 people to take the iron out of their blood seems unlikely. This may happen in the future, if a God-King has fewer morals than Vashar did though.
  15. Heal Gravitation, hurt Division. 1. Gravitation -- 21 2. Division -- 7 3. Abrasion -- 13 4. Illumination -- 9
  16. It would be strange if it were regular merchandise. However if it was slaves, they could just take prisoners from the pits. If a few prisoners disappeared, they would just assume that they were dead.
  17. I love this idea! However in regards to stone, I have always thought that all souls (or maybe only Shin souls, although that seems odd) end up somehow in rocks. If we are going to go with the theory that there is something wrong with Roshar's afterlife, then the souls stay in the three realms instead of going to the Beyond. They could exist only in the Spiritual Realm, but so far we don't know of any entity other than a Shard that does that. Since they obviously aren't in the Physical Realm, they must be in the Cognitive Realm (and probably the SR as well). If that is the case, they must be in some specific location. Since there is the idea of Shin stone worship, and Szeth seems to have many ideas of where his soul goes after he dies, I was thinking this idea makes sense. On the other hand, it is a pretty crazy idea, and is probably wrong.
  18. What would be interesting is to see what they are like in the spiritual realm. Are they a single entity? Or are they many different entities with powerful Connection bonds to each other?
  19. Woah! I find this pretty unlikely to actually happen, because it's unlikely they would be split up in exactly the same way. You'd get two shards with different attributes instead of Preservation and Ruin. Maybe Change and Staisis? If it did happen, it would be awesome! Maybe the shard of destruction?
  20. I don't think the Herald's current insanity is entirely natural. I think it was imposed upon them by Odium. Why would such powerful Cognitive shadows go insane otherwise? Since the Heralds were originally good, it makes sense that they would see it as a burden. It was originally the "burden" of the Unmade, now it is the "burden" of the Hersld speaking.
  21. I'm pretty sure the person with the head of lines is a deathspren. Shallan sees spren as people with heads of lines, and this man dying is simply seeing his deathspren the same way Shallan was.
  22. He would make this about the unmade because the Heralds are replacing the Unmade. It was originally the "burden" of the Unmade to screw things up on Roshar. Now that the Heralds are insane, it is the duty of the Heralds to do so , and he is lamenting that.
  23. Szeth. He is the greatest warrior in the entire book, and hates combat more than anybody in the entire book. How can you possibly top that?
  24. I'm pretty sure that when he mentions the nine, he's talking about the nine Unmade. Otherwise, it would be the ten. If it is a Herald, then yes, there is the Herald plus nine others, so I guess that's nine, but it just seems an odd way to phrase it. Why would he say "the burdens of the nine others become mine"? The Unmade seem more likely.
  25. I agree with this. Also, it makes to much sense. Nale is supposed to be insane, and that's a pretty sensible action.
