I’d watch it -
Well, I guess it ‘translates’ better as “they who kill with wit”, but sure.
-
They’re from Elantris, if I remember correctly. Their name means... Wit-Killers? I think?
-
And why is that? Also, hey! I’m the Lord Prelan. So, I’m Vin’s dad, and about to be killed by a bunch of Steel Inquistors because they want my job. Great.

Welcome to the forums, Windrunner! I’m sure we’re all excited about Oathbringer, and we’re all talking about it in the Oathbringer Spoiler Board if you want to pop over and join us, since it’s best to keep the spoilers from the Tor.com chapters in there. Besides, the chapters on Tor are just the first fifth of the book!

My only reactions to this chapter, beyond all the theorizing that will erupt, are this: JASNAH IS BACK JAAAAASNAAAAAH YEEESSSS and

what do I read after the Stormlight Archives?
Nashan’Elin replied to qhizzle's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Well, you really haven’t spoiled too much for yourself. The books are about 98% self-contained on their respective worlds, so don’t worry. The only one that does have even a slight impact so far on Stormlight is Warbreaker, which you should read sooner rather than later. Beyond that, the Mistborn series is absolutely great, so go ahead and do that. Like others have said, if you want to get more into the lore behind the books, the Emperor’s Soul is a good way to start into that. I hope this helps! Edit: Wow. Double-ninja’d. -

Unfortunately, Wreith, your first and greatest mistake was expecting Hoid to do anything. Everyone knows that he can be expected to be unexpected. Except, of course, when he isn’t unexpected, which in and of itself is unexpected.

Amaram Fan Club
Nashan’Elin replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
Well, Toater, I can’t really call myself an Amaram fan. But I do understand why you would like him. He’s practical, and at least some of his reputation as an honorable man has to be true. I’m interested in finding out more about the Sons of Honor, and what that will reveal about his character. Plus, to be fair, basically every time we’ve seen him, it’s been through the eyes of someone who hates him. It’s hard to like a guy when you’re basically only shown negative images of him. -

I think this is totally possible. And, from the Oathbringer endpapers, each Herald (except for Ash) appear to be surrounded with their order’s minorspren. Which would make Ishar, and therefore the Bondsmiths, having the minorspren of gloryspren. Maybe? I wish we could see this murals for ourselves, instead of relying on Shallan’s admittedly not-super-trustable descriptions!

Is It Worth it to Read Aether of Night?
Nashan’Elin replied to MistbornAlpaca's topic in Aether of Night
It’s a good story, has some interesting ideas. And since Aethers are Cosmere canon in at least some from, it can be good to understand their origins if you want to.- 13 replies

Well, depending on whether I can get out of all my responsiblities, Oathbringer will probably take me around 1-3 days, for a quick read to get all the awesome new stuff. Then, there’ll be a slower, in-depth read to get most of the hints I missed the first time. And then another to get more hints. And more, and more...

Controversial Opinions
Nashan’Elin replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I never finished reading the Name of the Wind, it seemed to be getting nowhere other then setting up the protagonist for failure after embarrassment after failure. -
I could offer my help, if you’d like. As for mods, I have some basic experience putting mods on a server, though, to be fair, all of my servers have been locally hosted and port-forwarded from my own computer.

Mostly because of all this discussion, I expect Mraize’s chicken just to be some bird he has for a disguise, or as a pet, or something completely normal. Just because it would be funny to see all this Aviar theorization turn out to be over nothing.

So, here’s what we know about Malata, our wonderful new Dustbringer. All we know beyond that is that her spren told her she’s a Dustbringer, she’s able to summon a Blade, and that Dalinar doesn’t like the way she smiles. Dalinar’s suspicions aside, the fact that she can summon her Blade and her claim that her spren told her she’s a Releaser makes me think that she’s not using an Honorblade. Not only is it unlikely that some random middle-aged lighteyes would be able to get her hands on a Shin Honorblade, but to also know that Radiants have to bond spren (unless it’s common knowledge now) suggests that she actually managed to bond a spren. I also doubt she’d lie about her order. If, somehow, she was able to get her hands on an Honorblade, and knew enough about the Radiants to under spren and bonds and all that, she’d likely know that the Releasers are not the most popular Order. If someone were to impersonate a Radiant, I’d bet they’d pick something safer to fake, like a Skybreaker or Edgedancer, and just say she hasn’t figured out her other Surge. Meandering speculation aside, aka tldr, I think she’s a real Releaser, and I’m curious why she’s wearing two gloves, not just a safehand one.

And here we go again!

Well, I mentioned this in Random Stuff... yesterday? Idk. Anyways, I figured I’d post a picture of my detective-costume-turned-Castiel-cosplay here.

I agree with you 100%. Szeth is using his Nightblood Litmus Test as his moral determinant now, and that is going to cause some problems. I think Szeth knows very little about Nightblood, as evidenced by the fact he doesn’t know its name. He may believe, based on what he has seen, that the sword is some powerful being capable of determining good and evil. The problem with this, of course, is that our dear old super-powered robot spren of a talking sword has no clue what evil really is, only that it should be destroyed. I could see some serious problems developing from that, like the situations you mentioned. Whatever happens, I think this is a great theory. My Upvote to Yours, my Rep become Yours, and I’m excited to see how this will develop in Oathbringer.
