  1. Anybody can see Pattern, it's only Syl so far who can disappear. There are references to the sailors on the Wind's Pleasure seeing Pattern, as well as him having to hide in an illusion or on Shallan's dress.
  2. "Oh- oh yeah! Right! Sorry..." Nashan takes a deep breath. "Yes, I do want to join the Knights Awkward. Uh, Books before friends, 17th Shard before real world, Release dates before birthdays."
  3. --Well, here's my first real attempt at RP-- Nashan walks slowly into the room. Head down, an open book in each hand, he doesn't seem to notice anything of his surroundings. Abruptly, he trips, drops his books on his toes, and blinks, looking up with a suprised look on his face. "Wha-what?" Realizing that he's in a room with a bunch of people, he looks even more suprised. "Ummm, hi? Is this the hall of the Knights Awkward? I got kind of lost while I was reading and walking. I do that sometimes."
  4. That could be possible... maybe I'll have to ask Brandon that
  5. This is a collaboration theory between myself and Silverblade5. So next time you see him, give a virtual high-five! (Or an upvote ) So the main idea of the theory is this: Odium is not the opposite of Honor. Instead, Autonomy is. Honor, from what we've seen, binds things together, mainly through oaths. On the other hand, Autonomy seeks to make things free. So: We know Odium could work with another Shard, if he was in control A Vessel can to some extent filter their Shard's intent The Heralds were tortured in between the Desolations in an attempt to break them. So I propose this: It wasn't Odium doing the torturing, it was Autonomy, attempting the use his Intent to help free Odium by freeing the Heralds from the Oathpact. Autonomy also attempted to free the KR, because they were bound by their oaths and therefore not Autonomous. This led to the Recreance. We don't have enough information yet to understand how the Recreance occurred, only who caused it. What do you guys think? P.S. I'm planning on asking Brandon about this at the Calamity signing, so I'll post how that goes.
  6. That means that Brandon is proof-reading the graphic novel of White Sand. He'll probably be proofreading for a while, but it looks like it will be out relatively quickly (couple months maybe?)
  7. Devotion and Dominion were Splintered. Preservation and Ruin were not, which was why they were able to be picked up. I think it's been said that in their current state, Devotion and Dominion cannot be just picked up. Additionally, the two Splintered Shards "combined" into what is known as the Dor. I think it would be very difficult to pick up Devotion and Dominion, especially separately. Someone asked once if Devotion and Dominio's Splinters could be Forged back together, but I think it was RAFO'd.
  8. Well, it stands to reason that if the slider / pulser was inside the box, the clock would be distorted. Now I wonder what would happen to a clock with some gears made of aluminum and some regular...
  9. Pretty sure it's possible. I haven't read Mistborn in a while but I've never heard anywhere that it isn't. The only limiting factor appears to be distance. EDIT: Ninja'd
  10. Yeah. It'll be my first signing! I'm already thinking up some questions...
  11. I'd like to throw my 2 cents into this. The metals in Allomancy aren't consumed when burned, but they are changed. There's a WoB about it, and I found it, but I'm new and don't know how to quote those so I'm just going to paraphrase it. Brandon says that the molecular structure of the metals filters the power of Preservation through them. He says it's the same thing that happens with Aons on Sel. So here's my idea. When the metals/Aons/color(maybe), or the Physical components filter the power of a Shard through them, they change, maybe just enough so that the physical component is no longer usable. For instance, the metal still exists in the Allomancer's stomach, but it's no longer Allomantic. For the Aons, I think that the ones that are drawn in the air are weak, and the force of the Investiture filtering through them causes them to dissipate. The Aons drawn in materials, like metal or wood, persist because they are reinforced by the material. Which also partially explains Rosharan magic. Fabrials have a spren captured inside a gem. The gem reinforces the spren like an Aon drawn in something, but if too much Investiture is drawn through, the gem cracks. I'm still figuring this idea out, but maybe I'll reformat it and post it as something a little more readable later.
  12. Well, thanks for the welcome guys! I'll make sure to avoid the "cookies"
  13. Woah, woah, woah. Spiked with a cookie? Hemalurgically? I thought they were just for eating!
  14. Heeeellllooooo, 17th Shard! I'm Nashan'Elin, the guy who made his name off the WoT Old Tongue word Ashan, before realizing Nashan is a Rosharan logicmaster, and then thinking to myself "huh, I guess that works too!" I've been lurking on these forums for a while now, but I just decided to create an account because I want to post stuff. And theorize. And maybe join some groups, like those cookie-obsessed guys. They're nice, right? And just talk to all these people. And discuss Sanderson. And Cosmere. And Hoid. AAAHHH! I'M OVERLOADING ON SANDERSON-INDUCED HAPPINESS! ...yeah. Anyways, hi everyone!
