  1. Hmmm... So the unstable mistborn is kept from claiming or winning with the village. Didn't see that bit. That creates an interesting dynamic. Well done.
  2. I'm assuming there's a secret reason that the mistborn isn't totally village-aligned? Because from what I can see they have the exact same win condition as the village...
  3. Well. I am now up-to-date. Good read. I think my favorite character is probably Reynard. Although you gotta have some sympathy for Ysengrin...
  4. What if a completely different person inherits the protector role, after a previous protector survived an attack? Does the new protector have extra lives, or are those used up by the previous holder of the role?
  5. Well, good news is, when this game rolls around I probably won't be spread across multiple games I'm a slowish reader but I'm nearly up to date on Gunnerkrigg Court.
  6. Well. Some general comments on people: I do think Ecthelion's behavior was marginally suspect (after all, to my knowledge I am the first one to have pointed it out). But I don't believe it was the most suspicious behavior so far in this game. And I think Ecth's explanation seems reasonable, for now. I don't think I support lynching Ecthelion right now. But he's worth keeping an eye on, definitely. Not sure what to think of Flash yet. I agree that he seemed a little on the defensive side. That seems reasonably lynchworthy. Almighty knows we've had worse reasons for D1 lynches. My primary suspicion is still on Stick for now though, and with it my vote. The comment I initially cited, as well as how he responded to my vote, both seemed off. Oh also, @winter devotion, I should like to encourage you to cast a vote. You have repeatedly voiced suspicion about players, so your reluctance to vote certainly isn't for lack of a good solid hunch. Are you trying to avoid drawing attention to yourself?
  7. Prediction: Draen only faked being killed, and then stabbed Kenara with a shard dagger when she went to investigate!!! Hmmm... So like, this is basically the exact same sort of comment that gave me away as an eliminator the last QF I played. This comment makes me read elim. And the Road vote wasn't serious. Road Stick I'll try not to make a habit of voting on you Stick... Still, last time I did it, you were in fact an eliminator, even if nobody believed me
  8. Brightness Kenara toppled over in front of the squad, her eyes turned to ash. Well then. That was an unorthodox way to start training. Aaliyah approached the body. She hastily drew out a death prayer, burning it in front of the two corpses. She bowed her head, wishing them good fortune in the afterlife. As the last remnants of the prayer went up in flames, she heard the others talking. "Who here is next in command?" Malnar asked. As if that were the priority right now. It was quiet. "I call it!" Spliff suddenly spoke up. "Alright, you lazy bunch of meatbags, let's see if you can handle the stress of the navy. I want to see 50 pushups each!" Well, that was quick. Amazingly, a few members of the squad actually started doing pushups. Aaliyah shrugged. "You call those pushups? I call them wimp-ups! Because it looks like you're just standing there! Hah! If you need me, I'll be in my tent, doing officer things." As he walked by the crumpled body of Brightness Kenara, Aaliyah stuck out her leg, tripping him. Then she pretended to be deeply absorbed in her prayers for the dead. Also: Some thoughts on the secret roles you conjecture. Having to be killed by the truthless is viable, although I have a hard time imagining what would justify that in terms of RP. Having to keep the truthless alive doesn't really make sense, unless there's a pretty big catch, because otherwise you'd just claim and reveal the truthless, and get an easy win (as well as destroying the win condition of the truthless). It is possible there is a survivor role, and, given Elbereth's recent bout with survivor roles, she would probably have given the survivor a good reason not to immediately claim, if that is the case. I doubt a Serial Killer would be thrown in last second, to be honest. That would cause balancing concerns. Roadrunners are pretty fast too you know. He probably could have also committed the murder! It gives me an odd feeling when everybody feels the need to actually declare that they are village... I will also mention that I don't think the actual word "Squire" appears in the GM PMs sent out to villagers. To my knowledge it only appears in the initial signups post. So you did some research to make this post...
  9. Well I'm glad somebody carried on my work, heh. I seriously wondered if you were evil, what with asking if I needed protection the night before I got attacked, lol. I suppose you have a clear answer to how "regeneration" works though
  10. I don't think Tanavast was particularly OCD... But he was so cosmically terrible at seeing into the future, that the religion derived from him made predicting the future taboo.
  11. I understand why you wouldn't want to add complexity in the LG33 rerun. But seriously, this has to be a thing sometime. And no, they can't PM themselves. The PM mechanic is meant to mirror how the flowers surrounding the Cthaeh can heal any ailment, and I'm not sure that the Cthaeh even eats, so it may have a hard time making use of those flowers except as a means to manipulate people.
  12. So, yesterday I had an idea. When we want to balance a game, often one of the things we do is simulate in our minds how a game might play out. And I figured, a computer might do a good job at simulating an elimination game, actually. I know elimination is a complicated game... And I don't think I've ever heard of somebody making such a simulation. But with a few reasonable assumptions, and some application of RNG... It wasn't that difficult, actually. Some of those assumptions include: players will submit votes in a random order each cycle a certain percentage of the time, players don't vote if there are already 2 or more lynch candidates in a cycle, players will more often then not vote on somebody who already has a vote on them a certain percentage of the time, villagers will vote based on accurate analysis and hit an eliminator the rest of the time, villagers will vote randomly eliminators will not cast the first vote on their team mates, although they are still susceptible to bandwagonning on team mates usually, eliminators will vote on random villagers eliminators will submit a kill every night usually, it targets a random villager the exception is if somebody claimed an investigative role, in which case the eliminators are somewhat more likely to target that player doctors are also somewhat more likely to target investigative claims; otherwise they heal randomly cops will scan randomly, although they will never scan the same person twice if a cop finds an eliminator, most of the time they will immediately claim, but occasionally they won't claim So yesterday and today I spent a couple hours writing a python script to simulate an elimination game. Then I plugged in a classic elimination setup. 5 vanilla town, 1 town cop, 1 town doctor, 2 vanilla eliminators. From what I hear, this setup is supposed to be very balanced, so I used it to calibrate my algorithm. Ideally, the algorithm should correctly recognize that this game setup has close to 50/50 odds for village/eliminators. I tweaked some constants to match that game (specifically, I altered the exact percentage of the time villagers can guess an eliminator correctly without the help of an investigative role), changing numbers until that setup resulted in something very close to 50/50 odds for either faction winning (the eliminators had a 49.38% of winning, to be exact, calculated with a sample size of 10,000 simulated games). This is still very much work-in-progress, but I think it could be quite a useful tool. Does anybody have a game setup that they would be interested in seeing simulated?
  13. What about games in which you can place an action order to sue the GM
  14. I've already given you Aaliyah's description in PM as requested, but it can't hurt to dump it here as well. Average height, pure black hair, and pale green eyes (with epicanthic fold like every non-shin on Roshar). She is of Marabethi heritage, although she has lived in Alethkar for the majority of her life. I am going to conjecture that the Marabethi are similar to Selay ethnicity from what I can find on the coppermind, which means she is more tan than most Alethi, though less than the Makabaki. Typically wears the standard robes of the Ardentia. Never parts with a particular necklace made from a ruby chip.
  15. But isn't Hoid a troll?
  16. I predict that the intents of Hoid + Nightblood = "Troll Evil"
  17. Hmmmmm this looks like fun. Is it possible to enter a new contestant? If so I should like to enter Iyatil into the tournament. She is from Southern Scadrial so it is very likely that she has access to firearms. And she's Mraize's teacher, so she knows how to fight.
  18. There are stupider things in comics. Every fictional work involves a willing suspension of disbelief. Some people are more willing to suspend their disbelief than others, of coarse. Which is part of what accounts for differences in taste. Obviously though, everybody here has above average tastes in literature, because this is a Sanderson fan site.
