  1. Hmm guess I can make another post. Yay. Hmmm... Yeah, I think I actually was serious about the whole tie thing. Alvron, you were right, as it turns out. I've been converted to RNG. Ecthelion. I mean, I dunno about a bigger post necessarily. Not everybody has time for that, I gotchu. But I would appreciate it if you'd share a read or two. Which you are still kinda avoiding doing. When you are next able, I would appreciate it if you did so. Although my appreciation may have to be issued from beyond the grave.
  2. Well, 5 hrs left. It's possible that I won't be posting again this cycle. We'll see, anyway. So lets just get this over with: Hm. Well, first of all, I'd rather not die, if it's all the same to you. Because, you know, then I'll be dead. And really, I think I'm much better for discussion in a not-dead state. And second of all, who doesn't like random tied votes? I've never really seen eye to eye with the gods of RNG, but lets give it a go. I can borrow a leaf from Alvron's book. Ecthelion. I mean, really, I think Ecthelion is a poor lynch decision. But I'm more sure of my alignment than his, see. Anyway, the last time I said something like that, the other guy was actually evil. It happens. Here's to hoping that our local "making everything boring" role isn't going to make this lynch boring. If they do, well, that'd be boring. So boring that I might have to go after them, if they were foolish enough to leave me alive. That said. I'm probably dead anyway or whatever, RNG being what it is. So I'll just give some final thoughts: Lopen's vote on me was undiluted bandwagonning, but it was trying to pretend it wasn't. That deserves scrutiny. I still hold that Burnt is trying to fly under the radar. Seriously, I'd like to ask somebody to read through their posts, in the least. Dying wish? Also, if anyone advocates a no-lynch again, please lynch them. No-lynch would be quite counterproductive at this stage. Also, I'd like to register the complaint that it really isn't a positive factor for somebody to say they want medium before the game starts. That literally makes their alignment random, and I wonder why this could possibly be a good thing. And, seriously, if I were really an eliminator, why the braize didn't some of my elim buddies cement a proper counter bandwagon after I tried for medium? Seriously, y'alls need to think that one through. If y'alls are so certain that the eliminators would have indeed made a bid for medium... Well, you know where to look next, don't you? There's an easy way to account for a lack of opposition. I somewhat doubt this is the case, but. If you dismiss it without thinking and watching closely, whatever comes your way is on your own head. Also. If you are temporarily appointing a new medium. I think that provides a unique opportunity. Whoever gains temporary mediumship will learn the medium win condition, but it will be temporary so they will revert to their original win con soon after. I therefore strongly recommend for any temporary medium to disclose the medium win condition to everybody. Obviously, this is a matter of discretion, and if you believe it would be better for the good of your faction to keep this information secret, you should do so. But I would very seriously consider revealing this information. I believe this would benefit everybody, including the mediums. Because then, we could really trust them, and that they are what they say they are. You will have to judge people for their actions, I think. Too often we look at people's explanations and overlook their actions. So like, good luck. Peace out. I guess I'll be free to go terrorize Seonid's blackout game, then.
  3. If you take the test as an eliminator though, chances are you'll swap alignments. And end up on the same side of the folks you just tried to hammer vote. So I don't really think that works. The forest doesn't hate robots they gave S13 a brand new arm. Anyway, technically I'm not a real robot The moral of the story is, never be a dead goose in a bush! Anyways. Now that that's all cleared up, who is being evil? Probably if I wanted to live I'd say ecth is evil, but to Braize with that. Time to practice the time-honored art of stirring things up. I don't think ecth is evil. As much as he's been acting really weirdly imo, he was also the only one that pushed for a lynch. I really simply cannot see how that happens if he was an elim. To me, it looks very much like the elims must have all agreed to let a no-lynch fly last cycle. Game started out with 17 players. Minus one villager it's at 16, plus one hollow faerie it's back at 17 (but the 17th doesn't reflect on original role distribution). So, I'd say that probably means 3-4 eliminators. Best to assume 4 and be pleasantly surprised if its 3. So lets exclude Flash from the candidates, 'cause Flash's odds at being of a given alignment are already known, plus he's new to our thread so we don't have a read. Minus ecth too, because I just don't see it. Also minus Drake, 'cause that guy has a really village vibe imo Remaining candidates are below: Locke Tekiel (Orlok Tsubodai) Elbe (Elbereth) Budgie (A Budgie) Altea Meza (Crimsn-Wolf) Carrie Brule (Burnt Spaghetti) Clanky (Clanky) Anansi (Metacognition) John (Winter Devotion) Small Large (Stink) Lyren (Droughtbringer) Shqueeves (Shqueeves) Pickle (asterion) Lopen (TheMightyLopen) Tarek (Randuir) BrightnessRadiant I'm just doing some process of elimination, here. No pun intended. Of these, lets take a closer look at them. Orlok. Knowing his playstyle, I don't see any of his doings as alignment indicative yet. I wouldn't make a final assessment yet, so I'm throwing this out as a possible candidate. Elbereth. Slightly leaning village. Probably not my first choice for a lynch this cycle, Budgie. Hasn't been doing much but RP. And while I love RP, this means you have a neutral read. Not removing this from the candidate pool yet. Crimsn. Mixed read, honestly. Encouraged inactives to come back, which I view as village-y. On the other hand, went with a no-lynch, and also displayed interest in who was appointed dragonslayer. Which tbh is a more suspicious role to be interested in than medium. Not taking off my list just this yet. Burnt. Has been active, but nothing really sticks out to me. Honestly, after reading through all her posts, my gut says she is trying to fly under the radar. So far my top suspicion, I think. Clanky. Hasn't been terribly active, and has given OOC explanation for it. I hope they come back to us. Not really a valid lynch candidate, at the moment. Meta. Basically the same story as Clanky. Not a valid lynch. Winter. Oh wait, winter's dead. I'm not going to make that mistake again. STINK. Our medium. Original alignment unknown, but lynching him would be a rather poor decision right now. Drought. Similar to Clanky and Meta. Not valid. Shqueeves. Ecth tried to cc shqueeves. Seeing as that was on D1, I hold that it is almost 100% certain that if one is an eliminator, the other isn't. Because people don't bus on D1. That being said, not valid. Yet. Asterion. Seriously, why is everybody in the Court so quiet? I figure with this many inactives, there's probably, like, 2 inactive elims. Not good. Still, not a valid candidate. Yet. Lopen. Neutral read, I'd leave Lopen as a candidate. Rand. Slight village read. But not so much a village read that I'm not keeping my eye on him. Brightness. Neutral read. I don't think I've seen her do very much that is alignment indicative. New list: Budgie (A Budgie) Altea Meza (Crimsn-Wolf) Carrie Brule (Burnt Spaghetti) Lopen (TheMightyLopen) BrightnessRadiant Burnt. You've posted a good number of times, but I can't shake the feeling that you are doing your best to go unnoticed. Appearing to contribute and all that. Could you share some thoughts on today's lynch, maybe? I would be grateful.
  4. Ah, but think of what we could learn in the process! Anyways, we have proper containment facilities. The population of domesticated eldritch horrors has gone down in the last few months (an issue we will soon have corrected), freeing up some space.
  5. AND the lynch functioned as a conversion instead of a kill!
  6. Hah, good luck I dare you to make the convert a faction ability, instead of tied to a single cult leader
  7. When you say unlimited, do you mean that you wouldn't even let it be limited to every-other-cycle or something like that? If so, that'd take some pretty powerful roles to counter it.
  8. That's exactly the problem Still, your Nighthound lifeless sounds like a fascinating experiment. As a member of the Dark Alley, I should like to cordially invite him into our domain, as an honored test subject guest. He would be treated with utmost hospitality, and in return we in the Dark Alley could learn a lot about being unspeakably evil hemalurgy and the dark arts "science."
  9. Wow. Y'alls have been prolific today. Good job. Some Q&A with Orlok. Thank goodness the shard doesn't make a seperate notification for every time somebody mentions you in a single post. I agree that it makes sense to lynch a Court member. We need a lynch today, and lynching a forest villager would be kind of dumb. Although your particular choice for a Court member to lynch is obviously wrong Now, in response to each of your mentions. For convenience, I'll just number these instead of individually quoting them: 1. The "safe lynch" idea is sensible. Flash, welcome to the "safe lynch" party. 2. Why did I put myself forward as medium? Because it was boring to have a one candidate election. Especially when we apparently weren't lynching anyone D1, either (I think this is something to be regretted). Why can't we be more like the forest they're discussion was much more interesting. Also I dispute the assertion that it is inherently a good thing for somebody to have decided to run for mediumship before the game started. If you go off that and only that, you're basically just rolling the dice on your medium's alignment. 3. I've already told you this in a PM last cycle. But I understand why you would reach that conclusion, given the situation in MR23. I do not and never really did hold the allegation against you. Although I did contest it. 4. You may have overlooked some of the posts where I advised against actually pursuing this course of action. I continued bringing up this strategy, because the fact that it is possible really rubs me the wrong way. 5. See above. I am very much geared towards finding unexpected scenarios that break things. I guess it just comes with being a computer programmer. Because seriously, that's like 80% of what programming is about. Of coarse I don't care about winning ratios. I've lost way more games than I've won in SE, and you still see me sticking around, don't you? 6. I never said I'm not planning to take the test myself. I am absolutely leaving that option open. 7. I know you don't approve of lynching inactives. I believe we may have talked about this a little in PM. A contribution crusade vote would be a weak lynch, but the alternative was no lynch at all. Which seriously, was a mistake. You may also notice that I didn't cast a vote in the contribution crusade... Am I not allowed to acknowledge a possibility without actually putting my full weight behind it? Hi Flash. Welcome to the Court. We're sometimes boring, but we also have a dance which makes up for it. Fair warning, you are currently the only member of the "safe lynch" group, if we are actually going to execute this strategy. No pun intended, with the "execute." Really though, we aren't going to lynch you for some time, if we ever do. But. Psychopomp? Where did you get the idea that this is a role? It's a possibility, but you seem implicitly quite sure about it. When you died, did you learn something about psychopomps? I'd be most interested to hear, if you are willing. United? But they have Mourinho now A solid team, but still I think this is a fair agreement, because it gives both sides some discussion. Although, fair warning, that means we are probably lynching a Court member, because the Court technically holds more votes (although the Anwyn can manipulate votes... Hmmm). Also, I dunno if there's a singular "Cryptids." Could be multiple secret roles that are mostly unrelated. Marshall has two "L"s in it; this vote is obviously invalid Well, I suppose it's unlikely that an eliminator would adopt this stance. Still, I don't think we should try to lynch a forest village. I'd rather keep the Court's winning in the hands of the Court villagers. If we lynched a forest villager, we'd be doing our Gunnerkrigg eliminator allies a favor, but we'd also be hurting the Gunnerkrigg village. Anyways, I have a whole 24 hours left to come up with a solid suspicion, so peace out.
  10. And give him the ability to commune with Ruin...
  11. Okay, but if your average shardbearer shows up on the battlefield, and the other side doesn't have one, it's pretty much game over (unless Kaladin is there). If the average, non-Vin mistborn shows up on the battlefield, that doesn't spell instant defeat to the other side. A handful of trained hazekillers could actually give a mistborn a run for its money. The fact that Vin was a one-woman army was quite exceptional for a mistborn. It's the norm for a shardbearer. Not all the radiants were so developed in their oath to manifest plate, or even a blade. Some orders were less numerous. The Windrunners were populated with squires, who were not as powerful as a full radiant. I would imagine that a fully developed Knight Radiant was actually a bit rarer than thousands upon thousands of them. The radiants had a heirarchy. Probably a lot of them were not quite at that level. But still. The Knights Radiant were scary. I'll also note that something like the surge of transportation or transformation is very useful for things other than fighting. While allomancy does absolutely have some versatility in this regard (tin, brass, and zinc come to mind), I would find some of the surges more useful. But honestly, my favorite system is feruchemy. TLR is absolutely me answer to the second question. Feruchemy is fantastically versatile, and compounding makes it even better.
  12. Well maybe I'm more given to taking risks Remember though that a radiant definitely outclasses a full shardbearer... And big massive wars were fought over sets of shards. They didn't fight big massive wars to secure the loyalty of a single mistborn. Nor would a single mistborn be capable of turning the tide in a big war. I will also note that I believe a thousands upon thousands of radiants was probably a total disaster. During the desolations, the heralds kept them in line, but after the heralds left their posts... I believe the radiants fought each other. I mean, what were they fighting if not each other, seeing as there were no Voidbringers left after Aherietiam? Which is part of why everybody hates them so much in modern Roshar.
  13. Yeah, but can a non-spren hurt a spren? I think a spren attacking another spren probably qualifies as an attack that is cognitive in nature. Something like exhaustionspren preying on other spren kind of makes sense, cognitively. I mean, in an abstract sense, exhaustion kind of interferes with thought and emotions. And the spren that exhaustionspren prey upon are basically embodiments of thoughts and emotions. Spren don't really die, but they can't really naturally "heal" either. So I'd guess the damage is pretty lasting. Probably, any damage would last indefinitely, but an outside force could repair it. The WoB says you become investiture when you enter the cognitive realm, yes. It is possible that such an action would allow you to interact with the cognitive. Even so, I think "physical" interactions between cognitive objects are not the most effective. I doubt even a radiant spren could crush one of those glass beads. Because think about it. Those glass beads represent how an object perceives itself, and how others perceive it. Is there very much you can do to just destroy that? It's kind of immutable. You can't just stop everybody from thinking about an object. Even in the very act of attempting to crush the bead, you yourself would be thinking about the object. Also, imagine something like the fire in SH. It wasn't a real fire, it was the cognitive shadow of a fire. And I don't think Kelsier could have burned his hand if he put it in the fire. Because interactions in the cognitive realm follow different rules, I think.
  14. Hmmm... Here's an interesting prediction about the oathpact. What if it was some kind of cosmic "bet" between Honor and Odium? The shards are bound by some kind of rules, what if the Oathpact was basically a contract? So, what if, for example, Honor gave Odium 10 tries to destroy Roshar. If Odium succeeded, he could go on to ravage the cosmere. If he failed, he would have to stay trapped on Braize. So Odium makes 9 attempts to desolate Roshar, and fails 9 times. On the 9th time, he manages to get 9 of the heralds to break, and abandon the oathpact. Which is great news. Except he only has 1 attempt left. And there's still 1 herald maintaining the oathpact. And there's still all those pesky radiants, who would be able to put up a good fight if another desolation rolled around. So, Odium realizes he needs to take a new approach. So he waits. He waits so long that the radiants are all gone, a mere memory. He waits so long that all the heralds are raving mad and laughably useless against the desolation. Then he lets it loose, after humanity is no longer prepared. And it is the Final Desolation. His last chance, but he's going to make it count. This is probably unlikely, but it would be a cool twist for the Oathpact
  15. I just found this thread... I've run out of upvotes... ALSO: I mean, the writing is excellently crafted, and you get an upvote for that. But still! You insulted my stick! Deploying poetry. I hope you like my limerick You know what about; I'll make it quick It wouldn't be fire Much to Shallan's ire It insisted "I am a Stick." Kelsier always smiles And dresses in nobleman styles He's known for surviving He's very conniving Hathsin the first of his trials Once, the was a desolation Then it stopped without explanation "We've won," everyone had said "The Voidbringers are all dead!" Turns out that was a miscalculation! There's a god named Lightsong the Bold Could never catch so much as a cold He laughed when people thought he was divine And spent most of his time drinking wine But to save the world, his life he sold Nightwatcher grants a request But don't put her to the test There's much to gain But beware the bane Be careful, I suggest
  16. Good point. I mean, I'm not directly involved in your affairs in the forest, but... I think you should try to figure out. Was that a vigilante-type role acting on a suspicion, or do you believe you have a serial killer on your hands?
  17. This really is a good theory. I think most of it could be accurate. To clarify. Do we have a definitive answer on this? Am I correct in supposing it happened in this order: 1. Aharietiam 2. The Recreance 3. Honor is Splintered
  18. I don't think you can break the beads in the cognitive realm with mundane means. Similar to how you could basically never break a shardblade (which is a spren, a manifestation of something from the cognitive realm, in the physical world). I think the only way you can affect things in the cognitive realm, is cognitively. Literally crushing a bead or putting out a flame is a physical procedure, and probably wouldn't do anything to a cognitive aspect of something. The only way to shape the cognitive realm is with the mind, I would guess. You can't kill a spren by hitting it over the head really hard. But you can kill a spren by something more abstract, like breaking an oath. Because it isn't really physical. It's cognitive. Similarly, without the interference of some kind of magic, your mental state doesn't really have any direct impact on the physical world. Unless there is magic involved, for the most part, each realm follows a nice, neat set of rules. Each one stays in its respective boundaries. This principle applies to nightblood, I believe. Like basically any object, nightblood exists in all three realms. Like any object, it is capable of interacting with other entities in all three realms. However, on all three realms, nightblood is geared towards destruction. In the physical realm, well, Nightblood is a sword. Do I really need to say any more than that? In the cognitive realm, Nightblood is imprinted with the command "Destroy Evil." I think that qualifies as destructive potential, in a cognitive sense. In the spiritual realm, Nightblood has heaps of investiture, and is hungry to devour more investiture. That's a lot of spiritually destructive potential.
  19. I chose radiant. I think that in general, we seriously underestimate what a full radiant is capable of. Imagine a radiant who can use surges more effectively than Szeth or Kaladin, while wearing shardplate, while using stormlight-enhanced speed, strength, and healing, and using a shardblade. In my opinion, such a radiant, a fully fledged radiant, could beat your average mistborn on any day of the weak. That being said, I chose Lord Ruler for the second question, because compounding for every single feruchemical power is absurdly powerful.
  20. Hm. That explains it then. Good catch. Hmmmm... If it weren't for that, this could have been a really good secret role
  21. Alright! I missed the window last night, but now I can give my big analysis post today! For everybody on both sides to see Unfortunately, nothing to do with suspects. But it has to do with the structure of the game, which I believe is quite important to know about. So I've been chatting with out mediums. There are, I think, a few relevant points to share, as well as a theory of mine. First order of business is how well the mediums can be trusted. I've talked to both, and I am very much getting the impression that their win condition does not directly conflict with anybody's. However, I am also very much getting the impression that it may indirectly obstruct some people's win conditions. So... I would trust the mediums to not be aligned with forest/court. But I would not trust that they are always on our side. They won't be. That being said, no reason why we cant work together a little bit. They probably warrant more trust than your average player of unknown alignment. Second order of business is what, precisely, the medium objective is. At first, I thought that it had to do with the meetings, as per a theory voiced in the forest thread. However, after asking each medium what their take on meetings is, I think this is unlikely. Neither of them expressed particular interest in organizing a meeting. And that's not really a sensible thing to lie about, seeing as organizing a meeting is a very public action. Yeah, so I typed that last night, when both mediums had said they weren't interested in calling a meeting. Apparently that wasn't the case. That is... Interesting. @STINK, what precisely is the stated purpose of this meeting? It was also worth noting that both mediums were very interested in people's roles/alignments. STINK didn't really give me a straight answer when I asked him about that. Well, fair play. You don't have to answer my probing questions. Plus, you did give me what I'm pretty sure is an honest answer to the other question I asked you, about how well your win condition coexists with other players. Doc12 said that this theory is correct, and that their objective does closely link to knowing people's roles/alignments. Particularly their alignments, and particularly the existence of secret alignments. Now, seeing as I don't have independent confirmation from both of them, this isn't really proven at all. It does seem a little bit strangely convenient, to just say "yup, you're theory is right, that is indeed what we are trying to do." I'm wary of that. That being said, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. The mediums are demonstrably interested in people's roles/alignments, so it's not that crazy of an assumption to make that this is critical to their new win condition. Third order of business. What's all this about secret alignments? Well, we know subject zeta is capable of converting people to secret alignments. In addition, Doc12 has confirmed to me that he has discovered one secret role with a special alignment. He is maintaining confidentiality about the specifics of the secret role and who holds it, which I think is a very good decision, because otherwise I wouldn't really trust him. So... There are secret roles/alignments already in the game. Not terribly surprising, but it is good to have confirmation. Which brings us to our fourth order of business. It looks like basically every major character in Gunnerkrigg Court has a corresponding role. The setting is not very long after the division of Court and Woods, back when Sir Young was in charge. So... I can't help but wonder... Where's Jeanne? Possibly she is already dead, and the Annan Waters are already cursed. But I somewhat doubt it. I predict that there is a pair of lovers in this game. Jeanne, and the faerie that Jeanne loved. One in the court, one in the forest.
  22. Nobody is safe, Joe. If GMs and not-yet-players are fair game, so are spectators. But seriously Joe, my vote still rests on Nighthound. Just... So... Evil...
  23. Attempting to alter facial expression... ERROR. "My name is A.N.W.I.R, and I am a seraph-pattern robot. The robot king has assigned me to serve incoming students. How may I be of assistance to you, human?" EDIT: Also. Is this game set after the incident with the Annan Waters, or before?
