  1. I think that is a workable option but the caveat is you could only detect the Allomancy for a moment and then all of your bronze is gone. So, I imagine it would be very difficult to track, or even locate nearby, someone using Allomancy with just a moment's worth of data.
  2. This is a good thing to bring up. I had kind of forgotten about the lost/missing necklace. It would be interesting if his mother had left him some sort of powerful gift. I think the effects might have changed between Prime and this rewrite but there might be something to it. Good spotting! Have an up arrow!
  3. Depending on how badly you want it personalized, you can wait in line at the release party and get it personalized. If you cannot attend the release party then, depending on how much you trust random internet people, I could pick yours up for you, wait in line, get it personalized for you, then mail it off. My wife and I will both be there so, if they follow previous rules, we could get up to six personalizations with one go through the line.
  4. Whoa!? Two? I know I read one of them but I need to double check that I read both.
  5. It is almost bad enough to beg for Sanderson to either not do pre-release chapters or release them all at once next time. This 3 a week thing has been really rough. I don't know if I can do it 7 more times.
  6. There is a WoB that addresses this. Essentially, what Lift asked for and what she received are very different things. The fact that she ages/changes is not because of Wyndle.
  7. Dalinar only recently bonded the Stormfather. Offhand, I am unsure of the timeline but I think it has only been 2-3 weeks (10-15 days). I don't think the bond with the Stormfather would immediately wipe out any C-investiture; it would take time due to the C-investiture resisting, no? I fail to see how not remembering his wife is one of Dalinar's major problems. It was inconvenient at times but I wouldn't label it as a problem, much less a major one. Am I missing something? What issues have cropped up or might crop up due to Dalinar not remembering his wife?
  8. Possible thought: The Nightwatcher is Cultivation's Investiture. The Stormfather, and Dalinar's Radiant-ness, seem to lean more towards Honor's Investiture. So, Dalinar's boon/curse C-Investiture could be forced out by his Radiant bond's H-Investiture. Lift has C-Investiture as her bond and for her boon/curse so there is no conflict. We are told that investiture resists other investiture, eh?
  9. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legendary_Entertainment They've done movies like Pacific Rim, Jurassic World, and the Great Wall.
  10. Maybeeeee Legendary. They've made some really good stuff. I'd at least have a small amount of hope haha
  11. So, if I understand you correctly, a moon that orbits in the opposite direction of Roshar's rotation but does so in the same amount of time as Roshar's rotation would be geosynchronous but not geostationary?
  12. If there was a reliable source of Stormlight then I would probably take Elsecaller. Being able to soulcast is insanely powerful. Being able to transport myself to the CR and travel between worlds? Whoa. If there is no reliable source of Stormlight then Mistborn. Then, move to New York, buy a realistic Spiderman costume, and... shenanigans haha
  13. I have a lot of similar questions as you but, as far as I can tell, we are both doing it right. The VIP option does include a wristband for the evenings festivities and I think you picked the proper shipping option. That being said, I am still slightly unsure myself and am not 100% sure how to verify that my ideas are correct haha.
  14. I completely agree that this fits with what we saw of Kaladin. The thing is, each Order has different ways of speaking/committing to Oaths so I am simply wondering if, perhaps, Cryptics would respond to broken Oaths differently. Especially as it seems the Windrunner Oaths are sort a linear progression whereas Lightweavers' Oaths are less defined. An example of some differences; We saw with Kaladin that he could see/interact with Syl, even if only occasionally, right up until the very end when his bond broke. Shallan, as far as we can tell, had no real interaction with Pattern for years; one might say he was "dead". [Random thought: Pattern said today that if Shallan wanted should could kill him and get a new Cryptic. Are we 100% sure Pattern is the first Cryptic Shallan has bonded with? It would be kind of interesting if she killed her first one and Pattern came second eh?] No worries, I have seen that WoB too and remember it in a similar fashion. We did receive some new information today about how a Lightweaver cannot simply ignore a Truth once they have spoken it. I wonder what Truths Shallan spoke when she was younger and if they are still firmly rooted in her mind. If they are not then that might be evidence that she "broke" those Oaths (Truths) and has since replaced them with newly spoken Truths. [edit] @Aleksiel's WoBs have "broken" my theory. Alas. Thanks for the WoB's Aleksiel!
  15. Sorry if I was unclear but I was never against this. I am familiar with the WoB that at the end of WoR Shallan speaks her 4th Oath while Kaladin is at his 3rd. My discussion was centered around the idea of whether or not Shallan broke her Oaths and what constitutes a Lightweaver breaking their Oaths. I think I will add some of these questions to my list: "Did Shallan break some of her Oaths when she was younger?" "Did Shallan retain the ability to summon her Shardblade (e.g. in tWoK while in Kharbranth she thought about doing it a couple of times) or did she only think she could?" "Are there differences in how a Lightweaver and a Windrunner break their Oaths? If yes, would you mind briefly describing the differences?" "Follow up: Are there differences in Oathbreaking for each order?"
  16. We both think Shallan lost the ability to summon her Shardblade until she respoke Oaths, right? We also know that Pattern was not trapped in the Physical Realm in blade form. Is it not possible that the explanation is that she did, in fact, break Oaths 2 and 3 (her truths) while still retaining her first, generic Oath? She was still able to use Stormlight (as we see in during her encounter with Hoid) but she was unable to summon Pattern as a blade nor interact with him. Is there a WoB I am unaware of that states she never broke her oaths? The difference with Kaladin might be that he was not just breaking his second Oath but he was breaking the base ideals of the Knights Radiant as well. Or, perhaps, Windrunner bonds are somewhat different and require strict fidelity at all levels whereas Truthwatchers are more flexible in this regard.
  17. I thought (emphasis on thought haha) that Shallan had to respeak Oaths before being able to summon Pattern again. Is that incorrect? If she did need to respeak Oaths before being able to summon Pattern then I think that might mean her Oaths were, to some extent, broken. Pattern lost a lot of his cognitive abilities - much like Syl did when Kaladin broke his Oaths.
  18. These two quotes seem a bit contradictory to me. To advance far enough to summon her Shardblade (third oath generally I think) means she would have needed two truths (the generic oath plus two more). Those truths, according to the second quote, are irrepressible. Or, am I misunderstanding you and you mean she can no longer repress those truths without risking her bond?
  19. I'm wondering if it is by becoming overwhelmed by the truths they speak and rejecting their spren. Shallan could (probably won't though) end up hating Pattern for what he is making her face. A Lightweaver who breaks their oaths is probably someone who breaks because they cannot handle the truth. Also, to your question, I do not know of a WoB or theory on this. Sorry.
  20. They did it! It reached funding just a moment ago! Woohoo!
  21. Call...ing...? Like, on a phone? What is this @Kurkistan, 2005? I demand the ability to preorder a book without talking to a human being!
  22. Thanks @Pagerunner. Someone mentioned to me (irl, not on the Shard) that they had already preordered the book for the event. Perhaps they were mistaken. I just didn't want to miss out!
  23. Does anyone have a link to where I can preorder a copy of Oathbringer for the midnight release party? My wife and I already bought plane tickets to go to Utah for it and we wanted to make sure we locked down a copy of the book. Any details on where to preorder, good insights on attending the release party, etc. are welcome! TIA!
  24. I completely agree here. Can you imagine setting up a war camp in the middle of a shallow lake? *shudder* My take on the fortress is that is was the Radiant's fortress. The reason I say this is the spren they were hunting was said to be a "scout" who brought an "escort". I think the enemy was scouting out the Radiant fortress for an attack, perhaps? The lack of a fortress in modern times could mean it was overrun and destroyed.
