Amaram and the Black Sphere maybe? But I kind of like the title, just wanted to make a joke about it.- 15 replies

[OB] Oathbringer chapters 28-30
Toaster Retribution replied to Steeldancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
Storms, we are hyped up. -
1. A guy on Bulbagarden told me about him, and I checked out Mistborn. Now I'm a Cosmere aware toaster. 2. I think I could write a paper on this question alone :-) They have magic systems that go deeper than a sea, incredibly interesting and likeable characters, plot-twists that hits you like a punch from a pewterarm, original worlds and interesting commentary regarding morality and religion. 3. The Stormlight Archive. 4. 8? 5. 10. People transcribes hours of sound material from Brandon! Transcribing is storming boring! That is true dedication. 6. We made a meme out of a stick. 7. @TheVillageIdiot How the books impacted my life... I think about them a whole lot, I spend a lot of time, and I incorporate them into school work when I can. Sanderson has also been an influence on my own writing.

[OB] Theroy: Amaram and the Thing (OB Spoilers)
Toaster Retribution replied to Khyrindor's topic in Stormlight Archive
To me, there is a couple of things that fail to make sense with this theory, except for the timeline. -Amaram has Heralds, Radiants, and a Desolation. I don't see why he would need to unleash an Unmade. I don't think it fits with what we know of him this far. -If Amaram did this, Brandon would probably foreshadow it by showing a black sphere inside Amarams manor or something. So I do not really buy this. By the way, the title of the thread sounds kind of dirty :-D- 15 replies

Who will Ialai grant Oathbringer to? Amaram, for dual-wielding? Mraize, for being a "faithful" servant? Unknown character we haven´t seen yet? Sell it in order to pay for a huge funeral for Torol? Discuss!

This is actually a very cool idea.

Welcome! Have an upvote! There are many crazy magic-theorists here (the non magic.theorists are crazy too, but another kind of crazy. But it is all good crazy). Hope you enjoy it, anyways!

[OB] Oathbringer chapters 28-30
Toaster Retribution replied to Steeldancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
I can see Shallan being the Champion, but at the same time, both Kaladin and Dalinar have been hateful too. That said, a connection to an Unmade and strong current hatred doesn´t bode well. She is one of the most likely ones, as of now. -

What if Odiums Champion is in the center of the Everstorm, and controls it? -

Nine divided by three is three. Bondsmiths are of Odium. -
[OB] Sensing the Unmade
Toaster Retribution replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
That is a good thought. Zahel should have sensed the Unmade too in that case. Another idea that I have is that the Ghostbloods have experienced Soulcasters, who can sense the wrongness through their connection to the Transformation surge, and told Mraize about it. -
So, Shallan and Renarin both sensed that something was wrong inside Urithiru. In addition, Mraize seemed to feel it too, or at least knew someone who did. But Dalinar has not sensed anything, and Malata doesn´t seem to have noticed the Unmade either. So, why did Shallan, Renarin and Mraize sense something that the other Radiants did not? Well, Re-Shepir looks to be an evil counterpart to the Lightweavers. and which is an order affiliated with Cultivation, and also and order which uses the surge of Illumination, which both Renarin and Shallan can use. So I have two theories. One is that everyone who can use the Illumination or Transformation surges can feel Re-Shepir. The other one is that everyone who belongs to Cultivation-affiliated orders can sense it. Both of these explain why Dalinar didn´t notice anything. They don´t explain Mraize, but then again, we don´t know how he learned of the wrongness. So, what do you think of all this? Why couldn´t Dalinar sese Re-Shepir? Why could Mraize? Do my theories make sense?

[OB] Unmade Herald analogues
Toaster Retribution replied to Steeldancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
I like it. It fits thematically, with everything having something to do with number ten. I don´t remember who suggested it but I also like the idea that the Champion is the tenth Unmade. And this Desolation is supposed to be the Final Desolation, so everything works. -
Re-Shepir is Pattern gone bad. Also, Re-Shepir learning stuff and evolving each time she gets defeated, or faces someone in battle, sounds like Doomsday. Conclusion: Re-Shepir is the evil mix-up of Pattern and Doomsday.

[OB] Oathbringer chapters 28-30
Toaster Retribution replied to Steeldancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
I feel like there should be some connection between Desolations, Heralds and Unmade number-wise. Having nine Desolations before this current one would fit pretty good, and I buy that. I also like @Steeldancers idea about a new Herald each time, and thus the tenth Desolation, when the last Herald breaks, being the final one. There is already an in-world term for the Final Desolation after all, so there has to be some kind of end to them. The big question this asks though is wether Taln was the last Herald to break. Lucky for Odium that he was the one to die then. -
[OB] Oathbringer chapters 28-30
Toaster Retribution replied to Steeldancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
Thoughts: *Stormfathers dream-invasion felt a little random, and an easy fix for Dalinars problems. I would have liked to see him having to unite through war. *King T and Amaram are incredibly interesting, and I loved their conversations with Dalinar. Wonder if Dalinar will admit to himself that he has been like them, and that they do have a point? *Oathbringer. Wonder who gets to wield it. The only fighting men we know of in house Sadeas are Amaram and Mraize, and Mraize is just pretending. Still, he seems to be a guard close to Ialai, so what if he got Oathbringer? It would be a twist for certain. The Amaram dual-wielding would be cool too. *Shallan gathering the Unmade Extermination Squad was cool. It also turned out that Barry the Evil Spren was Re-Shepir, the Midnight Mother. Brandon never ceases to amaze me. *The battle was cool, although I hope that the other Unmade are tougher than Re-Shepir. One Radiant was enough to make her retreat, and the Extermination Squad suffered no casualties. Although that was probably because Shallan was very fit to fight her. *The tree-lady on the mural is Cultivation. We also got our third Fool. Only seven to go... *Shallan and Renarin also asked a good question: why can´t Dalinar sense the wrongness? And also, why can Mraize? Do the Ghostbloods have a Radiant beside Shallan? Looking forward to our last three chapters! -

I love that this hog story brings forth Taravangians worldview without Dalinar suspecting a thing about the Diagram. Furthermore, Dalinar, King T and Amaram together offer extremely enterataining moral discussion. I could read a spinoff with just the three of them talking. -

Best MCU character!
Toaster Retribution replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I'll answer my own question, and I will also steal @Captains Domons cathegories: Best hero: Toss-up between Rocket Raccoon and Yondu. Best villain: Loki, followed by Vulture. Loki is technically an anti-hero now, but I will just put him here to be able to stuff both Rocket and Yondu into the heroes cathegory. Worst Hero: I am not that fond of Black Widow, to be honest. Everyone will hate me now. Worst Villain: I want to say Obadiah Stane, because that whole character feels bland and unoriginal but I will go Whiplash instead since it has been a while since I saw Iron Man. Malekith barely gets away from taking this spot since he is an elf and elves are cool. -
This is an interesting observation. What do you think started the madness? I have always assumed that it was the (kind of) breaking of the Oathpact.

Random fun thread, but here goes: who is your favorite MCU character and why? And also, for those who read the comics (I don't) is there any character who is better/worse in the comics compared to the movies?
