Wish one would be to receive all of Brandons magic systems. Wish two would be to get to talk to Jesus (there is some stuff I want to ask him). Wish three... I dunno. I think I'd ask Jesus what he thought I should wish for as wish three...

I don't get rep that fast. Though it is tuesday tomorrow, which means rep-day. Tuesday is rep-day for everyone until the 14th :-)

Yo, @Sunchicken, could I get a screen-shot too? I feel a bit like the Beard at the moment, with a rep title that fits my name pretty neatly.

But why "Mystery Project"?
Toaster Retribution replied to CosmereQuestioner's topic in General Brandon Discussion
He posted the "mystery project" because he enjoys watching us speculate, and then blow our minds with the reveal.- 1 reply

I think Ishar is mad. That said, mad people are known to be easily controlled by Shards or other mysterious beings. I can easily see Ishar being manipulated or controlled by Odium, but I don't think he has willingly joined him, at least not yet. Tezims current actions seems very much like the ones from a fanatic who believes that he himself is god.

I for one disagree with the idea that Shallan is a Mary Sue. They tend to be without faults and insanely good at everything, as well as being granted extreme power without a very high cost. I can buy that people find some parts of Shallans story a bit unrealistic, or heavily reliant on luck (the deserters trusting her and Sebarial taking her in are my two main problems) but calling her a Mary Sue is going too far. She has far too many faults to be one, and she makes mistakes too (she is ruining herself mentally and got the coachman killed). Personally, I have more issues with Kaladin than with Shallan. As for the WoT characters, I think that a lot of people dislike the females there because of their attitudes toward men in general. They seem to view them as incompetent idiots, something Brandons characters never do. I don't think they get hate for being strong, or following their own agendas without doing what they are told, but for the fact that some of them (I'm looking at Nynaeve here) looks down upon most men (and some women) from very high horses. But in general, I can see @maxals point about Mary Sue being lobbed at female characters more often than men.

Am I the only one who thinks of Peter, one of the apostles, when seeing these keys? He is supposed to hold the keys to heaven. Maybe Vedel held the keys to Urithiru or the Tranquilline Halls?

[OB] Stone Shamanism and The Girl Who Looked Up

I meant that it is a story that is supposed to reflect something from Shallans life or arc. A story Brandon wrote for that purpose.- 33 replies

Good point. It wouldn't surprise me if he considered himself one though, given that he is a Herald and thus patron of the Bondsmiths.

Works very well, although part of me wants the story to be about Shallan herself in some way.- 33 replies

Dunno if anyone has thought about this, but I found another proof for Ishar=Tezim in Tezims message for Dalinar. Him refers to Tezim. And Ishar wanted Nale to kill all new Radiants... it adds up.

My idea is that it has to do with the Heralds other abilities. There is a WoB somewhere that says that Heralds are able to do other things, apart from Surgebinding.

[OB] Inside cover art!! Finally!
Toaster Retribution replied to Overlord Jebus's topic in Stormlight Archive
Cool! The Vedel art almost feels like something you'd find with the Hindus. I had imagined her a bit differently (not as a man though, @17th Splinter ). I like the keys. Jezrien looks like a badass, and I love the design of his Honorblade.- 321 replies

@Captains Domon you can also create humouros posts that people find funny. Pretty much like this one

I don't think we should judge people based on body counts. If one person killed one guy for fun, and another person killed five because he thought it was the right choice in a tough situation, I would judge the first guy more harshly than the second. Numbers doesn't decide wether a person is good or bad. We can't say that Amaram is worse than King T or vice versa depending on killcount. They are both trying to limit the damage they are doing, they don't want to kill anyone, and they wish to do what they perceive as good. Everyone has different opinions on what good is, and it is basically impossible to decide who is right. We can not judge people because they perceive the world differently from us. In the end, T and Amaram aim to do the right thing, and I feel like that matters the most.

So... you are going to make me help you cook them waffles?

The "if your beliefs is moral-part" is trouble, since everyone believes differently. How do we know who is right? You may be right about Amaram doing the deed partly out of jealousy (I doubt he was aware of that himself though, it would have been in his subconscious). We have to remember that it wasn't a decision he took lightly though. He spent several hours discussing with Restares, and if we go by what he says himself, Restares had to talk him into taking the Shards. Furthermore, training someone in Shards takes time, particularly if it is a guy who has never held a sword before. It is fully possible that Amaram thought he would need Shards before the guy was done training, which might have taken years. The greater good is another thing that can change depending on who you ask.

@Tarion Hitler is worse. There are a couple of reasons for this. First off, he wanted to kill people. Amaram doesn't want anyone to die. He knows that that will be the effect of his actions, but he would rather see that no one got killed. Then we also have the fact that Hitler killed people because they were not aryan, or were handicapped, or homosexual. Basically because they didn't fit his view on the world. He targeted specific groups. Amaram doesn't target anyone, or he targets everyone, depending on how you choose to see it. @KidWayne I agree with the fact that Amaram is deceived. The Almighty aint no God, he is an old guy named Tanavast, who happens to be dead. Amaram doesn't know this, however, and we can't judge him for beliving in a lie, when we have a lot more facts than he has. When it comes to actions vs intent, I believe that intent says more about a person than the action does. I don't really see belief vs action here, I see intent vs action, which is somewhat different.

First off, concerning the duel: even if Amaram is forced to go through with it, I would think that Adolin can be persuaded to wait until after the Desolation. I don't think it will come to that though: if Adolins status as the murderer is revealed, Amaram can easily break off from the dueling agreement. Second, concerning Amaram as a person: I don't think he is despicable, or evil. Amaram is a deeply religious man, for whom the faith in the Heralds and the Almighty is everything. He genuinely believes that mankind would be better off led by the Church. I think that people who call Amaram hungry for power, or attribute other bad traits to him has misunderstood him. From Amarams perspective, humanity is led astray, away from the one most important thing there is: the Almighty. He is trying to get everyone back on track, so to speak. He recognizes that this will end up harming many, and he regrets having to do commit actions he commits. Compare this to someone like Sadeas, who seems to enjoy his despicable actions. He slaughters an army without feeling a thing, while Amaram feels guilt for four men. There is an obvious difference there. I think Amaram genuinely wants to be good, and I think that a lot of his honorable actions are the real him, not a facade. He is kind toward his servants, he promised to stand trial before Dalinar (a vow I think he will keep). So, in the end, I don't see Amaram as a bad person. He is misguided and a fanatic, but also well-intentioned and ultimately a good person.

I doubt a spren would want to bond with an already bonded human, who is going mad. Furthermore, she needs cracks in her soul to let the spren in, and that crack is already filled with Pattern.

I think it is Vivenna. If it is plot related use of Breath or Awakening, I feel like Brandon would have to put in a simple explanation into the book, which doesn't create a need for Warbreaker reading. Vivenna showing up is a different matter entirely.

[OB] Amaram's Greedy Little Fingers
Toaster Retribution replied to Crucible of Shards's topic in Stormlight Archive
I sincerely doubt that Oathbringer will be gone forever. It feels to important. Personally, I like the idea of Amaram dual wielding Shardblades, but I dont know how likely it is. Still, I am convinced that Oathbringer will return. -
I think Malata is from Jah Keved. If she is Thaylen... well, we have so many strange Thaylens already. The Thaylen Queen, Mraize and Mrall.
