Sweat would still set it off, unless everything but the designated skin contact patch is coated in some protective substance such as wax. And even then, it's like walking around with a live grenade on your arm. There's practicality issues here.
-
In order for the spike to work the first time, there needs to be blood contact. This has been stated by textual evidence and WoB. Harmonium's reactivity precludes this. As for Allomancy, Vin once swallowed a bead of atium, coated in lead to disguise its size (this was the atium that Zane gave her in WoA). When the time came to burn it, she burned the atium just fine, but was unable to burn the lead. Ergo, any allomantically-viable metal that is within the Allomancer's system - regardless of whether that metal is directly contacting said Allomancer's system or not - will be burned.
-
Spiking with harmonium probably wouldn't work - as others have mentioned, the metal would explode upon contact with blood (or any other moisture), and blood contact is necessary for the spike to take. Burning harmonium, on the other hand, requires nothing but a shell of water-tight wax keeping the harmonium from contacting your saliva, stomach acid, etc. Once the harmonium is in your stomach, though, a Mistborn would be able to burn it just as easily as Vin could burn an atium bead from inside a lead shell.

Regarding putting the 3 major events in order; Didn't Taravangian imply that he was motivated to go see the Nightwatcher by Gavilar confiding in him? -
Which unpublished works has Brandon asked that we not discuss publicly?

Email someone on Team Branderson with a polite request for one of them and they'll get to you eventually. Peter Ahlstrom, I think, is the best option. -

That's what that sneaky little "include" is there for . Thanks anyway though. (I didn't know that either of those were a thing) -

Long answer: For a lot of them, it's a moot point, since they've been rendered non-canon and thus not useful for discussion- White Sand Prime, Way Of Kings Prime, Mythwalker, things like that. For others, such as the Aethers from Aether of Night, they're almost canon but their source books are being reworked into something of quality - The Silence Divine and the aforementioned Aether of Night fall into this category. (You can tell they're almost canon because they've had references in canon books - Khriss mentions Ashyn and a major opening setpiece of the unpublished manuscript in Arcanum Unbounded, for example) A third category exists of things that are not canon yet but things within them have been excised and used in other books - The Shattered Plains from Stormlight Archive used to be in an early draft of Dragonsteel, for instance, as did the swapped sisters subplot from Mythwalker (which later evolved into the main plot of Warbreaker). Short answer: All of them? I admit to a bit of confusion regarding the question. Known unpublished works available to us the fanbase include: Liar of Partinel White Sand Prime Mythwalker Way of Kings Prime The Silence Divine Aether of Night -
I don't think TLR ever had Resonances - he started with too many powers to get a Resonance between his feruchemic powers, and then rebuilt himself as both a Feruchemist (with all the powers) and a Mistborn (with all the powers). 1 "all the powers" crowds out Resonances to begin with (which is why neither Vin nor Sazed ever had any odd "perks" or "passives"), and TLR had two of those. I'll try and find the quote, IIRC it's a fairly recent one.

4? I count 3: ChayShan, Dakhor, and the potions. Unless you're suggesting that Duladel had its own variant of Dor-coding, which is possible. -
...I forget. I assumed it followed the rules of other fabrials. Although if it didn't, we should probably take another look at that description of Nalan's Regrowth fabrial to see if it had a spren of its own.
-
Another thing to consider, especially with fabrials such as Soulcasters, is that cracks make the gems less able to hold the necessary spren.

Video Games and Cosmere Parallels

That doesn't fit right IMO, or rather it doesn't fit well with his demeanor in Dishonored 2, which is much more active, in every sense, than his performance in Dishonored 1. Also, speaking of his Dishonored 1 performance, he's almost gleeful when describing the High Chaos ending, as though he's sitting back with a bowl of popcorn and watching the empire tear itself apart. This does not play well with "Dominion," I don't think. He's much more disappointed and mournful in the High Chaos ending of Dishonored 2, when he describes Corvo the Black or Emily the Vengeful ruling the Empire with a clenched fist and an iron blade. I will admit that a valid argument could be made for that. However, I'm assuming that, if Dishonored can be considered part of the Cosmere, the Shattering that created the Shard for the Outsider and his predecessors (because yes there have been predecessors) did not do so along the same lines as the Yolese Shattering. So having a Shard that is a direct analogue to one of the ones we already know about... well, it beggars belief.- 21 replies

Video Games and Cosmere Parallels

"Nemesis" didn't always have the connotations it does today. Unless I am misremembering, it is another term for "Justice" of the slow-burn variety, the "You're gonna get what's coming to you" variety. Another thing to consider is what bonecharms and such do to the non-Marked. Namely, the tendency for them find a piece of scrimshaw, then start calling it "My Precious." However, before the madness and spontaneous shrine-construction sets in, the bone charms do work as intended. They react as expected to the Overseers' music boxes (namely, they go cold and inert), and they've been used as anti-pregnancy and good luck charms for long enough that certain carved patterns must be known to cause certain effects. However, none of these charms on their own provide power like the Mark does. At best, they provide a small healing factor, or to move faster under certain conditions, or cause certain things to malfunction. And those are the ones that aren't dependent on having powers, e.g. "You can possess white rats for longer" doesn't help your average Joe on the streets of Dunwall or Karnaca.- 21 replies

Video Games and Cosmere Parallels

I can't speak for Destiny as I haven't done nearly the amount of research necessary to figure out the Traveler's and the Darkness' Intents (Although Odium does appear to fit surprisingly well for the latter). Dishonored, on the other hand, I am quite familiar with so here we are. The Outsider's Intent is not simply "Chaos," I think. He's far too interested in and appreciative of Low Chaos protagonists for that. In addition, Word of Harvey Smith (the game director) states that the Void Ritual that made him what he was filled him with an "insatiable curiosity about what people do when given power over others." (from a Twitter conversation, screencapped here) Part of that comes from his human origins as a powerless boy forced into the ritual, of course, but not all, especially since the ritual in question happened some 4000 years in advance of the games, (Another Twitter conversation, here). I suspect that he is a mixture of Ruin and at least one other Shard (Honor, perhaps?), with the intent of "Nemesis." (Hence the empowering of a select few and sending them out to seek their version of justice) And Delilah is a Cognitive Shadow that (I suspect) found the memory of the ritual (Or at least found the Cognitive Realm version of that knife the cultist was holding) and used it to start siphoning off the Outsider's power. And of course, she's more of a Ruinous character, so that's what she's drawing from the Outsider, and why he's willing to return Corvo's powers to him, should you choose to play as him in the sequel. The rest of Delilah's actions in Dishonored 2 match pretty closely to Kelsier's situation. Also, Dishonored's world's Focus is bone (the evidence for this is endemic), and their subastral (except for the bits that the Outsider Invests for live visitors) seems meant to evoke the ocean depths.- 21 replies

Elsric is a Scadrian, possibly of noble birth, trained in the way of the "Knife." In addition, he knows the value of a good escape hatch, suggesting that his situation on Scadrial was threatened somehow such that he or his family would need such a bolt-hole. He is Invested enough to survive both the mists of Scadrial's subastral and the ball pit of doom that is Roshar's subastral. All this suggests "Allomancer," possibly even "Mistborn." (which, in turn, suggests some childhood trauma for Snapping) However, he is scholarly and hates seeing people hurt, qualities that the Final Empire does not promote in its nobility or in its Allomantic population on both sides of the Balance. (And, if Mistborn, he's not on Scadrial post-Catacendre, as it's a plot point that Spook is the only one of those left) Possibly his father was anomalous in this regard- he certainly spent time with Elsric on physics rather than on politics. However, Elsric does not currently have access to Connection magic - or at least not in a way that allows him to bypass the language barrier. As Scadrial has perhaps the easiest method of obtaining such (namely, the jailbroken or unsealed metalminds of the Malwish), we can deduce that Elsric left before such things entered the general market.

Nazh complains about Fjordell's dismissal of the Rose Empire on that very map. Just before complaining about being left behind in Fjordell. -
That's a savantism trick, Wayne's ability to act is self-taught, and Miles' healing factor is just Compounding at work. There have been WoBs for all of these, pretty much ever since we learned that Resonances were a thing in the first place.

Emphasis mine: It should be noted that Resonances only occur when one only has a small, non-one, non-zero number of powers, e.g. Mistborn and Full Feruchemists didn't have them, but Surgebinders do. (Twinborn might also have them, but none of the onscreen examples thus far have had them on display yet)

speculation A Different Take on Cultivation
Landis963 replied to VirtuousTraveller's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I don't think the Unmade have access to the Shards' thoughts, and even if they did, I'm unsure as to why Moelach would pass that along to a dying man. No, this is Kaladin protecting Elhokar (whom an earlier chapter title branded "The One Who Killed Promises") from Moash (who IIRC saved Kaladin's life back in WoK).- 22 replies

That and the concentration of Ruin's Investiture made the Pits a perpendicularity that Worldhoppers could use to access Scadrial's Physical Realm (where they could get things like "data on Allomancy" or "proper metallurgic resources" or, yes, atium). When Kelsier sets out to destroy something, he doesn't mess around.
