Something is bugging me about the dark red spots; in book, the description compares the spots to the colour of rust then we have the frequent curse of 'Rusts and Ruin!' Granted when we see red we automatically think Odium but could it be possible for an alloy/ base metal that has visibly rusted be used to access Feruchemy/Allomancy? As for it being from a Shard we know; Would Harmony necessarily recognise Harmonium/insertotheralloynameforlerasium-atrium alloy if hadn't never existed before? Granted, it's tenuous idea but given the entirely opposite Investitures he uses, it would be understandable he wouldn't recognise something that is a complete fusion of both Investitures (completely alien to him) Paalm after all was still in the mindset she had whilst under TLR and although he was a Sliver, he wasn't the most cosmere savvy (although he knew a few tricks about Haemalurgy and that was from Preservation's Shardpool) TL:TC - I propose the silver metal is Harmonium and red flecks are just rust

I know, but term is only used in reference and never actually clarifies the definition. 1) I'm happy you got this answered as this bugged me also, especially with Hoid's comments at the end of WoR. This also makes Jasnah's Elsecalling at the end of WoR even more more suspicious. 2) I'm in agreement with you. If the theory someone posted about the origins of Shardplate is true, then it would make sense that the plate would mirror the blades to an extent 3) This is intriguing, especially after the note in the new Elantris map although perhaps his method of travel is a device or requires a Shardpool instead of hopping directly into Shadesmar

Perhaps we could get a clarification question on the term Initiation?

Visitors from Other Worlds (Possible other-series spoilers)
ParadoxicalZen replied to fyodor's topic in Mistborn
It is more just headcanon than anything...but to me Parshendi resemble a combination of Fantasy Dwarves crossed with the crustacean-esque vibe that it prominent on Roshar. Don't get me wrong, I can see why it would be a Parshendi but it just reminds me of Iyatil more, as her race is presumed to be frequent Worldhoppers -
Argent posted a clarification post in one of the recent SoS topics about this issue and if IIRC, it said that it was in regards to Ruin and Preservation

After reading a part of SoS Minor SoS spoilers I'm more of the opinion they're trying to create something through Haemalurgy, something that would get people offering a lot of money for; whether it be a mistborn or otherwise is up for argument.

ParadoxicalZen replied to fyodor's topic in Mistborn
I'm of the opinion it is Iyatil...or another member of her race. After all masks can be made to have beards and that picture doesn't remind me of a Parshendi. -
I would have tried asking about it, but I had way too many questions already

I'd say it is still ambiguous because Adolin has the potential to be both but is actually neither, if going by the wording of the question. It only deepens the intrigue -

Havoc, can you help with any building on it? I can't quite remember if Brandon said you can translate the symbols for use or not. On another note, perhaps this is how Hoid is translating between Shardworlds. His Babel Fish as Argent so aptly named? -

I got my questions answered! Most were simple and short, but I did get a good answer! These aren't 100% verbatim and I'm not sure if anyone recorded it but they're nearly word for word. 1) There was a WoB about what Shard Hoid would be tempted by, to which you said was Endowment. Why is that exactly? Brandon - It is mainly to do with events from that happened in his past. 2) In the Second Letter Frost mentions a gemstone; is this the Moon Sceptre? Brandon - No, no it isn't but good question. It is actually in relation to Topaz, a name used frequently in his past Now for the good one; 3) In what way is the Moon Sceptre linked to the Dor? Brandon - I think we can canonise this. So the Moon Sceptre-...so the sceptre is kinda like the Rosetta Stone. You can use it to translate the symbols from one system to the symbols of another and can use it to understand their meaning (paraphrased a bit, but simply put Moon Sceptre = Seliash/Selian Investiture Rosetta Stone) Almost thought I was going to get RAFO'd but I didn't 4) Can you describe the Dor? Is it like a mixture of Devotion and Dominion or does it vary? Brandon - It is a mixture. 5)Is the separation of the Jindoese and the Rose Empire connected to Devotion and Dominion's Splintering? Brandon - Only vaguely. Last but least, my major RAFO bait 6) Can you tell us the actual Intent of the hide-and-survive Shard or Alternatively, can you tell us the name of a Shardholder we don't know? Brandon - *smiles sadly* No, I'm sorry I can't but you did get that one thing outta me. I tried fellow Sharders, I tried Now off to read SoS *GushesprofuselyabouthowBrandonSenpainoticedhimandbeginstofanboyover9000* EDIT: He also wrote the 'Hands all Red' when signing my SoS copy and 'Bridge Four' when personalising my WoR hardcover so I'm guessing that they're aimed towards each series.- 91 replies

Apologies, WoB on Theoryland asking if Hoid would take up a Shard, which one would it be -
Uber psyched for tonight! Going to get there for 6ish, as if the Gollancz event on Saturday was truly like what Havoc had said it was, I fear the queue will be storming huge. Still not settled on all of my questions but going to see if I can swipe an extra five min or so after, see if I can get a few juicy Ultimate List questions done. On my list at the moment though; Why would Hoid be tempted by Endowment? Can you describe the Dor physically? Is it like a fusion of Devotion and Dominion or is it more one than the other/patchy in places? Or perhaps a combination of the above? Is there a gemstone in the Moon Sceptre that is related to Selish Investiture? Did the separation of the Rose Empire and the Jindoese people have any connection or lead up to Devotion and Dominion's shattering? Can you give us the actual Intent of the Shard that want's to hide and survive, or perhaps the name of another holder? I'll be the guy in the Halestorm t-shirt so say Hi

Perhaps an Investiture-created construct based on a human template, and given he fractured the Oathpact, perhaps tainted with odious investiture (only a minimal amount, but enough to cause a difference) or perhaps he's broken something inside himself

Shadows of Self Tour London Day 1 (17-Oct-15)
ParadoxicalZen replied to Havoc's topic in Events and Signings
I'm aiming to go tomorrow but I'll probably head out to get there early (6ish); so far I've got a few questions but i might ask him if I can get an extra 5 minutes or so after or just line up again -
Well, I don't even know how to respond to that

It could simply be the capacity/ability to access the Investiture for the first time. Not everyone on Scadrial can access Allomancy, especially during pre and during Final Empire times (at least, I think i'm remembering that rightly) I'm still trying to finalise my questions for Monday (I keep chopping and changing) but PM me some suggestions/examples of phrasing, might help me make my mind up

I'm of the opinion it wasn't felicity as Barry wasn't really grieving. Have yet to watch this week's yet but Flash was pretty cool

Is it possible for Paalm to have a Feruchemical spike for storing Identity? A wild guess given we don't know the mechanics of that metal (name is escaping me at the moment) but can be hard to look for someone when the person doesn't exist technically, although Saze could probably detect an object invested with something like that (again, wild guess)

I would agree...but the Nelazan of ancient Scadrial who worshipped Trell didn't really seem all that expansionistic. They revered learning, mathematics and studying the sky and also weren't a very advanced people

*SPOILERS* Theory: Kandra Worldhoppers and the Set
ParadoxicalZen replied to skaa's topic in Mistborn
I vaguely remember a WoB somewhere about not all Kandra are allied with Harmony or something. It was either in the ama topic or on TL -
When the elantris update hits the UK, i'll go over it properly as my memory is a tad foggy. I'm of the opinion that given *minor SA/Elantris spoilers* that Devotion/Dominion/The Dor is more cohesive and better functioning, seeing as it takes place a thousand or so years before Mistborn Era 2 EDIT: Although, *more minor SA spoilers*

I can get behind this. Wasn't red a prominent colour with the Derethi? It could be the Stranger from the pool could be Selish

Shadows of Self Tour: Chicago / Oak Brook, IL
ParadoxicalZen replied to Argent's topic in Events and Signings
Remember, the WoB says 'Wyndle would describe himself so' which to be fair seems like an accurate guesstimation but it could be otherwise, but the KR chart could be valid evidence for it- 131 replies
