Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Remart had to actually laugh out loud. "How quickly ya'll are to jump on people! Makes me think there's a Rioter around messing with people. Still, Nyah (Nyali), ya sure did jump on Nicki real hard, when most of us think she's well and truly trying to help this little town. Can't see she's any more of a problem here than I am, but I can't say I'd mind having you gone." Rust and Ruin, he'd left his ale back at the pub. He thump-clunked off to go retrieve it.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss

Nyali, you're saying you shouldn't be suspicious because you were defended by a known Elim, but also that Rae is suspicious...because she defended an Elim? Can't really buy into that logic. On mobile at the doctor, so no RP right now, sorry.- 1403 replies

I don't think that was actually the meaning of that WoB. I think he was pointing out that there isn't a direct "opposite" for most Shards. Cultivation could have been as close as or slightly more of an opposite to Ruin, but so was Preservation. There's not a line that they all fall on, but instead they are a wide spectrum, so aspects of each could be opposing to others, so the more aspects of one that oppose another's aspect makes them closer to perfect opposites.

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Remart glared at those who had begun muttering about him. He took a big bite of his slice of pie before he spoke up. "Here I thought that taking a knife to the gut would at least make it clear I wasn't one of these so-called 'spiked'. Ya'll sure are a paranoid lot, ain't ya. First ya think Whistler set her own shop on fire, then you think I set myself up to get stabbed? I can't believe this." He did pause to look somewhat sober for a minute. "I'll not say I'll miss Sothe, exactly, thieving [censored], but it don't sit right to me for him to be chased down twice last night. Someone wanted to get rid of him, and even though he'd said some not-so-nice things about me, I ain't among those. Heck, I doubt I could chase someone down with this bum leg, though I will admit I can move at a decent clip when I need to. I ain't no Mistborn, neither, just a Thug like I said, and one out of pewter now, so I'm really just a normal cripple now. "The problem is, I ain't got many clues who is behind the trouble now. I've been suspicious of that Terrisman for a while, but as you all know, I thought ya'll were daft for still trying to kill off Reginald. Thought you was just mad at him for escaping your first murderous attempt. And second. And was there a third he got away from? Bah, I'm glad he's gone if he was a troublemaker, I just didn't think he was before ya offed him. Barely knew the guy from The Lord Ruler, though. I mean, I guess The Lord Ruler was a pretty scary guy, but, well, I've never actually seen him, so I couldn't say for sure I'd know which was which if I'd just met them both. Certainly weren't working with Reg. Perhaps it'd be worth looking at those as was trying to make us want to attack him, if they might have known he'd just get away anyways. Run us all to death, they were trying to do, I suspect. Me, I never run if I don't hafta."- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Remart had nothing to say since he was sound asleep snoring in his bed, a half-eaten pie laying on the table next to him and his peg leg once again hanging up on the headboard. In other words, I've been asleep the whole day not feeling good, so haven't been able to read or analyze much this night turn.- 1403 replies

Rae, that does add a convincing factor to that info. @TheMightyLopen, are you willing to confirm that you claimed Lurcher to Rae? (Sorry for no RP this post, but it's 1AM here and I should be sleeping. Remart isn't because it's still day, so chances are he's found a snack and is resting his leg.)- 1403 replies

They didn't previously, though, since Honor (or Tanavast's) Cognitive Shadow didn't merge with the Rider of the Storms (the Stormfather) until after Honor's splintering, and thus after the last of the Bondsmiths died, most likely, or broke their oaths, since that was after the Recreance.

I just wanted to respond to this part. The prevailing theory isn't that all the Heralds had to resist for a Desolation to start, but that when the first Herald broke, it allowed a Desolation to begin. If that's correct, Taln likely never broke before, but since others did, he was then sent back along with them to prepare for the Desolation. When he was the only one, he badass held out for 4500 years, and it's even possible he didn't truly break, but since the Oathpact was likely weakened (though Brandon said it's not as dead as the Heralds think), Odium may have been able to push through and start a Desolation even without Taln breaking, which might also explain his late arrival.

One thing we do know is that First of the Sun is set very late in the timeline of Cosmere books, after all the others that have been published so far, even after the back half of the Stormlight Archive that hasn't been published. That means it is likely a more advanced group from a particular planet, or some combined group (perhaps even an expedition from Silverlight, which would explain the rules possibly) containing peoples from multiple worlds. Brandon has said that we've seen them before, but we don't yet know how clear that might be.

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@TheMightyLopen, I just saw your comment about PMs, and I'd forgotten I did have some, though I doubt they're relevant since they were all C1 before anything substantive was known. Here's a quick summary in RP (keep in mind all of these are from D1, but I'm happy to provide more of the reasoning that led me to each of them if you'd like, and if it's not enough here): Relaxing for lunch in the pub, Remart thought back to the first day, the unfortunate day this nightmare had begun. Once he'd heard the way everyone was talking, he'd hoped for a bit more honest and private conversation, so he'd pulled aside a couple people, one on one, and discussed his thoughts on a few people. He'd felt it was likely Whistler was alright, along with Nicki and Kip Pikker (who was unfortunately now dead, but also definitely not one of those causing trouble in the town). Wyl Sharpe was a bit odd, but he'd had a good feeling about him too. They'd each genuinely seemed to want to keep the town alive and together, prepared for the possible koloss threat, but also wanting to keep the traitors in their midst from doing harm. Remart figured Kip had probably been targeted for just that type of discussion, in fact. On the other hand, Jack Tormander was quickly making a list of who he didn't trust, and since that had included Remart, he wasn't inclined to trust the man in return. Reginald was the focus of all the hullaballoo since the beginning, but he figured that was all bluster. The old retired guy who never gave his name (Ecth), Cassius, and Stick all seemed to be sitting it out, or even stirring up a bit of trouble that came to nothing, while El…El had been trying very hard to convince everyone that a good number of other people loved Whistler and wouldn't have tried to kill him. Since then, El had justified herself to Remart and the others, so he wasn't as worried, but he kept an eye on her just in case. The villagers had strung up the old guy who claimed to be something called a Nameless, but since he was gone now, Remart didn't feel a need to give him a second thought. The three people he'd talked to had all heard all of this, and he'd expressed to Whistler that he felt he could trust him, but the others he'd simply wanted to feel out for their own opinions. If they wanted to let anyone else know he'd talked to them, that was their business, but he didn't feel a need to share that with anyone else. He'd not had the ability to talk to anyone privately since then, though, so he was hoping that chance might present itself again at some point soon.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
We know for a fact there's no Tineye, in fact, since PMs closed, which I assume is because Dalinar was using Tin the first cycle, then switched. Meta is playing with us, it seems. I agree with the assessment that there is a Spiked Lurcher and very possibly Coinshot, but they wouldn't need a Seeker, they can just kill anyone not them.- 1403 replies

So I had an idea I'll probably use when I run a game, and I think it'd be cool if others do as well. I love the Cosmetic Rules from the AG, and the reward is awesome, but we can't all give out rewards of that type. Instead, I'm planning to reward Cosmetic Role usage with trophies or badges at the end of the game, like a special awards ceremony! Those will be just for fun, since I don't have power for anything else, but they should be enjoyable to receive (I know I'd like to win one, even those it's meaningless in the long run, as recognition for doing my CR really well). Some of those awards may just be for funny things too, even made up to reward someone I think is particularly funny or dedicated. They won't even require a person to live through the game necessarily, which should be a cool way to reward people even if they get lynched or kill by Elims/vigilantes. Thoughts? Edit: one other idea, I know lots of us have characters we've created stories for and will reuse in multiple games. Is there, or can we create, a place for us to share those characters and their changes? I'm thinking something like a thread where we'd post our characters and talk about changes that happened via or outside of games. I'm personally loving Quintus the Nalthian Scholar, and Remart the gluttonous cripple, who I plan to give a Bendalloy metalmind to help him out.

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"Seems we've wasted a few days chasing Reginald and trying to kill him, or at least some of us have," Remart looked sidelong at some of the others that were close by, "and that was a complete waste of time. Now you want to waste more time trying to kill him again? Why don't we focus on something actually productive, like looking into those that keep pushing us towards people who they want to see dead."- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Remart swallowed a gulp of his ale (his gut still hurt, despite the pewter he was still burning, and the ale helped distract him). "Can ya'll start making some kind of sense out of this mess? At this point, neither I or my cold metal leg can keep track of who thinks who is behind these killin's. I'm glad no one's pointing a finger at me, at least, but I wish it didn't take a knife in my gut to convince everyone." --- Non-RP, I'll pull together a vote tally if I get to the computer (on mobile now), but if someone else does it first that'll be helpful. I think we need to make sure we either solidify the lynch on Dalinar beyond manipulation (I think he's probably village, but I do understand he might have to go so people stop tunneling on him), or choose someone else and get enough votes to be sure. Herwynbe is still my top suspicion, but I haven't been able to analyze too deeply (still figuring out how, plus I'm not feeling great). The accusations against Rae and Joe (the not-HH one) seem logical, but I'm not convinced enough to switch my vote yet. (Couldn't think of a believable way for Remart to say all that, though.)- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That hurts, man. Oh wait, maybe that's the knife in my gut. Besides, even if it was just some of your spiked buddies that noticed, my theory still applies. I was a somewhat low profile vote on you, but someone thought I was a threat. BTW, I survived because I was a Thug, if that wasn't clear from my RP, so some protection wouldn't go amiss this upcoming night. *Remart slaps his metal leg down onto the floor and grabs another pastry.*- 1403 replies

Fulcrum...it's just one part of...The Ring. (Props to anyone who gets the reference.) The appears likely to be a high council of Cultivationspren, or whatever Wyndle technically is, and wouldn't affect other kinds of spren, but we don't know for sure, I don't think.

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ouch? Remart glanced down at the dagger in his stomach. A little flared pewter kept the damage from being too painful, and he knew he'd survive, but it was still rusting inconvenient. He did have to admire the craftsmanship of the knife handle. It was well made, and he suspected the owner would want it back. He'd keep it for now, to protect himself if needed. He decided to ask Grumbles the Innkeeper to send for a doctor to sew up the wound, and for some more pastries. Then, he'd check into what good old Herwynbe had been up to that night. That's the type of fellow who might use such a fancy knife, and want to get rid of a poor cripple who's only sin was gluttony, and perhaps hitting a little too close to the mark with his suspicions the day before. ---- @Metacognition, that was a ridiculously awesome write up. Thank you! The details made it particularly special.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Remart thumped down the street, almost not noticing the blind man sitting on the corner. Figuring the man would learn his unique gait soon enough anyways (anyone could recognize it if they'd met him before), he walked over next to him and leaned against the wall. Too hard to get up with the peg leg if he actually sat on the ground. "How goes it on the corner?" He paused, then somewhat grudgingly held out half of his sandwich as well. "Here, I figure you might be hungry out here. I always am."- 1403 replies

[Theory]Reason why Odium can Splinter other Shards
Jondesu replied to Temerius's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I dunno, something twisted and forced to fit a particular mold will never be as strong and effective as one that was made to fit it from the beginning. I can't imagine that Ati was really a perfect host for Ruin even after all those years. He could have possibly been far more devastating and destructive if he'd been a more destructive and spiteful person originally, which I believe may be why he took Ruin, and why he then paired up with Preservation before he was twisted too much, to limit Ruin's destructive power and channel it into something positive.- 25 replies

From what we've seen in the books, I would guess the minimum is simply whether it would reach the bindpoint it needs to hit, and if it actually contacts blood (which wouldn't be tough, if it doesn't need much). Zane comments on how small the one he's using for the one guy is, and how it's barely more than a needle, I think, though it was long enough to pierce the heart.

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Jondesu replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
I did two months in Japan a number of years back (actually, it was…12 years ago? wow…), and I remember that feeling of leaving. I was heading back to Florida, so a big weather change too, though it wasn't quite as hot right away. Good luck with the transition! Where's home, btw? Also, @Kaymyth, I did the same thing with the double-take on the temperature. I'm only kind of recovering from the most painful week of my life following that Botox treatment, and it did absolutely squat for my headaches (except make them far worse for a week). We're kinda running out of options, and I have no idea what I'll do if someone tells me there's nothing more we can do. -
Been reading Order 66, one of the new Star Wars books (the new canon ones), and it's good so far. Lots of tie-ins to the Clone Wars cartoon.

Dalinar… *slow clap*. Elim or not, you deserve to stay alive after all that. RP and analysis hopefully to come, but for now, Remart is sleeping with his peg leg hanging on his bedframe, with a chicken leg waiting on the windowsill for when he wakes up in the middle of the night hungry again.- 1403 replies
