Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Remart stomped into the bar loudly. Thunk-stomp, thunk-stomp. His metal leg was certainly not subtle, but that kept him from forgetting that the itch he felt wasn't from his toes, since they weren't there anymore. "Barkeep, a mug of your finest ale that won't cost me more than 2 clips, and I hope you have some of that roast boar you had yesterday! No? Ooh, blood pie sounds excellent instead, absolutely. Two of those, and make sure they're piping hot!" He grunted as he took a long draught of his ale (which was hardly worth the 2 clips, except that it was rather high on the alcohol content), and reached down to scratch the non-existent toes again. Rusting things. Even when they weren't attached they caused him trouble. He almost wished he hadn't cut off his leg to get rid of that itch.- 1403 replies

Quintus snorted. "Trust you? I don't trust anyone here yet. Colors, I don't know if I can trust my own mind. I certainly don't want to stake my existence on a bright string of false thread."- 329 replies

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Jondesu replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The Bondsmith victory still seems like a very risky path, and I agree with Ecth that it's likely just to end up benefiting the Diagrammists (and not the rest of us) if we openly go for that.- 329 replies

Woah, I never caught that statement at all. That's both a crazy idea and very plausible. A grand tournament, with the winners being chosen to be granted abilities beyond their wildest dreams in exchange for swearing the Oathpact to protect Roshar. Sounds very much like something Honor would do.

Who do we know that has already come to Scadrial and appropriated their technology, including Hemalurgy and the Ettmetal cubes at least? Oh right. The Set. They're my new favorite candidate for the Ones Above.
-
Do we know if having met them means the world that they're from, or the actual group? I can see the Set, or perhaps whatever larger organization they're part of, being responsible for a plot like the one in Sixth of the Dust, but I don't recall if we'd "met" them at the time of that WoB.

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Jondesu replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Surely this can't be that easy? Identifying the Diagrammists was something Quintus had expected to need to do some deep and dangerous research to achieve. Then, this man slides in claiming to be an Edgedancer, declaring that he knows the identities of those who work to undermine Urithiru and everything that has been achieved. Could it possibly be true? The crowd was quickly turning ugly, with more and more shouts directed at those who had been called out. Sani was the first in the crosshairs, but now the one known only as the Drought Bringer was staring down the most drawn weapons. Quintus listened to the information being presented and made his decision. "Drought Bringer, if the accusations against you are true, and I see no denial from you or those who were accused with you, then I wish to see you swept away, gone from Urithiru...and we can't let you simply take your plans and information back to your leaders and cronies. Death will have to end your time here." His Shardblade dropped dramatically into his outstretched hand (he hadn't told anyone how he'd acquired that, even the rare few that knew he had one), and he held it at ready. "If needed, and if the group is in agreement, I offer my blade to end this threat myself."- 329 replies

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Jondesu replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Quintus listened in on the odd "news" report in shock. Three people dead in one day? All by different hands? This was going to be more dangerous than he'd expected, but then he'd said that before (how had that last time ended? He couldn't really remember.). He'd have to do some digging to figure out who was responsible and steer clear or bring them down.- 329 replies

Unless the magic system enables you to push past that boundary. In which case they'd begin to be ripped apart by the air resistance.

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Jondesu replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Amanuensis, I don't feel like RPing this answer, so I'll just say that the only reason I felt we needed to vote was to avoid the Diagrammists coming in and either vote maniping or just plain casting votes and getting rid of someone close to the end of the cycle. We've got too many people with just one vote.- 329 replies

What would happen if a person ate some of the worms from around the pool on First of the Sun which cause the powers to manifest in the Aviar? Would they also gain abilities?

Hemalurgy used outside Scadrial: has anyone spotted it?
Jondesu replied to Vissy's question in Cosmere Q&A
We know we've seen a Kandra worldhopper, yeah, though we don't know who. I suspect there's someone spiked as well, though, although it may not be for anything dramatic (hence it being something we're not meant to notice). -
I don't think it was discussed in-book, but I think I remember Brandon saying no. The speed bubbles work solely on the physical speed of objects, while Emotional Allomancy targets the person through the Cognitive (speed bubbles have some correlation to the Cognitive since things are in or out completely, but I'd say probably more Spiritual than Cognitive, especially since we know Connection plays a big role in what it's anchored to.

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Jondesu replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
For the lazy among us, you could put a link to that post in each cycle. I kid, I've got it saved. Edit: Avoiding a double post and adding RP. This is just a gut read, not based on much in the way of specifics, but it's mostly tied to the way you were discussing our strategies, @Sart. --- Quintus sighed and stood up reluctantly. "I hate the idea of having to resort to extreme measures, but with the growing hostilities here, I fear we'll have little choice. I don't know who here has malicious intent, or who follows that storming Diagram, but I know that of all of you, I'd feel safer without you around," turning to Sart and gesturing to him. "You seem knowledgeable and observant, but your desires here seem dangerous to me. If we must remove someone from our company today, I'd feel more secure without you here."- 329 replies

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Jondesu replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Quintus smiled faintly at the man ("Mr Hoid", he'd called himself, though he certainly didn't appear to be Quintus' old master) as he was greeted. "I fare well so far, thank the Iridescent Tones. Or I suppose since I'm here, I can thank the Almighty, though I don't expect it'll do much good either way. I see you found your shiny bauble? Where did you come by such a curious trinket anyway?" --- @Magestar, totally understandable. @Ecthelion III, I agree in principle with lynching someone who was advocating a strategy that will hurt us long-term. I'm not sure on Silverblade, but I'll review my notes and put in a vote soon.- 329 replies

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Jondesu replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Quintus sighed and rubbed his temples as he sat in the corner of the marketplace. He wasn't here to barter or even trade information, but simply to observe and learn. He'd come to Roshar and made his way from the Horneater Peaks to the Shattered Plains looking for true knowledge of the magic systems on this baffling and unique planet, but it turned out little was known, at least that was made public. Now, however, the Knights Radiant seemed to be re-emerging, if the stories were true, and considering he'd been teleported to Urithiru through a huge portal that at least appeared to use Stormlight and Surgebinding, he was inclined to believe them. That offered a huge potential, as long as he could gain the trust of those with the power enough for them to help him study their abilities. For now, though, he sat and observed as one man claimed (absurdly) to have lost a bead of Lerasium (only one of the most valuable substances in the Cosmere, Colors), and others casting suspicion and accusations around talking about the many secret societies Quintus had been gathering inklings about. The Sons of Honor seemed dangerously naive, but with a possibly altruistic goal. The Ghostbloods were cunning and devious, and while they might be altruistic, he wasn't counting on it. Then there was the Diagram, with it's followers oddly named Diagrammists. Little was known about this outside their group, but he understood that one of their leaders had had…some sort of vision, or fit of inspiration, and had decided they knew how the world should behave for years to come. That was truly dangerous, Quintus understood, having seen other civilizations go through major shifts in culture and people over smaller threats. He would support any effort to root them out and drive them from Urithiru, destroying them if necessary. The order of the Bondsmiths did offer another option, possibly uniting some of these various factions, but Quintus didn't hold much hope in that. He would support a Bondsmith who could truly achieve that goal, but they would be in danger from those who would seek to sow strife, so that goal would be very difficult to achieve. He sat back and listened more to the conversation. There was precious little information to go on yet, so he waited and listened and gathered his information, scholarly as always. He'd have to keep an eye on Ryth and Sart, as well as the strangely named Harambe (or was it Manukos?). Sani and Dark seemed level-headed and would likely be helpful, and Seonid seemed both paranoid and yet somehow calm and focused. He'd bear watching as well. There were a few others watching silently so far, about five of them standing around the square, so Quintus made a note to observe them carefully as well. Anyone sitting quietly could be simply observing and gaining information like him, but they could also be maintaining a low profile while carrying out nefarious plots (nefarious, he loved that word despite it's danger). EDIT: To actually call out those who are so far inactive, @Magestar, @DroughtBringer, @Doc12, @TheMightyLopen, and @The Young Bard, thoughts on the strategies for this game and those who have commented so far?- 329 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Jondesu replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Quintus is over on Roshar, so instead, Remart will join the game here. He's more than a bit of a glutton, though thanks to an overactive metabolism, he remains under 300 lbs...most of the time. Edit: (I didn't think about two roles, which is an awesome idea). The fact that he is missing his left leg, now replaced by a very basic metal prosthetic (like a peg leg, just metal instead of wood), helps keep his body weight down technically, though the metal leg weighs more than an actual leg would.- 1403 replies

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Jondesu replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yes! If I ever run a game set on Roshar, I will definitely include Stick. It's only win con would be to still be a stick at the end of the game. As for strategy, I'll do more analysis tomorrow when I can sit at the computer, but I would be cautious about going for the Bondsmith win. It'll be great if that happens since pretty much everyone wins that way, but there's a high probability that the Bondsmith will die before the end of the game, so I'm not resting my hopes on that one. I know the first cycle lynch has been discussed endlessly, and I'll have to reread the rules, but I'm not going to place a vote just yet. I want to read the posts again here and actually make myself a doc to track this game since I plan to also play the AG.- 329 replies

That's my understanding as well. That also explains the half-lashing, as opposed to really needing to be a full upwards lashing or some weird fraction: it removes half of the pull of gravity from the planet, and adds the same amount of pull in the opposite direction, so therefore the forces cancel out and you hover.
