  1. Although it is clear that people from different worlds are involved with others I just do not see Harmony bringing someone from another planet to be his "Sword", I agree the description describes Kaladin but there are similarities to Wax and he is a much better candidate.
  2. This is very true. I think it would be amusing if she spent all that time and effort to replace a fake soulcaster with a fake soulcaster.
  3. Would the coppermind be visible if it was not on Hoid's body though? I just do not see the motivation of Hoid doing this besides some form of miss-direction but maybe reading too far in to it.
  4. That was kind of a tongue in cheek comment by me. It would come down to when Shallan broke the bond with her first spren though. I cannot remember exactly how long it had been between when the soulcaster broke and when her and her brothers hatched the plan to steal Jasnah's but I would assume at least a little time had past for the family to begin having their financial problems. I think this is all kinda far fetched but could it explain her father's fondness/protection of her when he was so vicious to everyone else in the family?
  5. I am still recovering from calling Odium Todd
  6. We learn there were no Deadeyes before the Recreance though so while the spren agreed they may have later come to regret this decision now that they know it essentially "killed" them.
  7. Wit: "you storming personification of a cancerous anal discharge"
  8. I thought deadeyes were caused mainly because of the breaking of the bond with their radiant which seems a little different than soulcasting fabrials. Plot twist: The original Davar soul caster was not real either. Shallan was actually doing the soulcasting with her original spren!
  9. I was reading this on my Kindle and when it started over again I legit thought there was an error on the ebook until the first text discrepancy I noticed and had to go back and look.
  10. Finally finished the book this morning. I feel like I need to re-read it soon to fully appreciate it. I screwed up and came here to post reactions to individual parts and saw a couple thread titles that made me aware something big was going to happen with Taravangian so I feel like I kind of rushed through part 4 and most of part 5 wanting to get to this. I do not think I can say this has been my favorite SA book but it ranks high maybe 3 or possible even 2 after a re-read. I feel like this book has the highest quantity of emotionally impactful character scenes so far for SA books. Adolin and Maya at the trial. Kaladin helping the people with mental health problems, relationship with his father, scene with Tien and 4th ideal after Teft's death. Shallan coming to terms with her past and saying goodbye to Veil. Raln and Venli finding the other singers. Navani's strugle with believing in herself as much as everyone else does then bonding the Sibling. Raboniel with her daughter and then her pride about Spren bonding singers. Oh and Jasnah on the battlefield and with Wit. A lot of powerful emotional moments in this one. I do feel like some of the comic relief was missing in this book mainly The Lopen and Lift. I thought the pacing throughout the book was pretty good. I possible would have liked a little more time spent in Shadesmare and less in Urithiru but really this is a minor thing. I felt like the plot line in Emul was a little lacking would have liked to see a little more of the battle there specifically from other Radiant orders than we typically see. The only thing that kind of lost my interest in this book was the flashback chapters. Except the last one of course which was amazing. So many revelations, twist and turns. Some expected and some completely surprised me. I am still trying to wrap my head around Taravangian now holding Odium and what that will mean. We saw Nightblood take a chunck out of a Honorblade and then kill the vessel of a shard. Also we see how to kill a fused or spren permanently. A lot of Cosmere/Realmatic nuggets dropped. Embarrassingly the Thaidakar/Kelsier connection went straight over my head until I saw it here. I do feel like there was a lot of Cosmere in this book which is not bad at all from my point of view. I do think it has gone well beyond Easter Eggs and now central to the plot of the story.
  11. I also completely missed this. I just listened to this podcast right after finishing. Mind=Blow on this point.
  12. There were a few things in this book like that. There also some mind blown moments towards the end.
  13. I liked this part. Not as much as part 2 but still enjoyed it. Thoughts in no particular order because I didn't take noes as I went. I think Raboniel is the author of RoW. Jasnah is such a bada$$ it was good to see her show that with Ruthar and then fail with the fighting but cool to see plate in action. Her and Wit I think I can get behind this. I just cannot get in to these flashback scenes. I kind of thought this would be the case and maybe I have predisposed myself to not like them. I feel like something bad like seriously bad is going to happen to Kaladin. I hope I am wrong. Rlain as a Bondsmith that is interesting. The Sibling not a fan of humans this could work and would be cool. We have a name for Cultivation's investiture Lifelight! Mr T. I do not feel like he is done plotting. Why has Dalinar not been working on his Bondsmith powers this past year? I know he is behind some of the other Radiants. I guess too busy with a war for the future of humanity blah blah. Ready to get back to Shadesmar!
  14. Not sure if I have ever seen a better insult.
  15. Just finished part two and went ahead and read the next interludes because I was not sure where those are spoiler free. Wow more Shard names! Did not expect that! I really liked the pacing of part two. Felt like we had just enough POV switches between the two plots even though one was kinda a cliffhanger. So much stuff to unpack but thought it was really cool to get more details on the Sibling and Cultivation's investiture. Always knew there was a third but this just confirmed it was separate and unique and part of what actually powers Urithiru/Sibling. Looks bad for the home team right now. Edit: One small observation. This is the first SA book I cannot tell who's book it is this far in. I did cheat and look at the character list for part 3 and see this may change soon but it is not obvious at all like it has been in previous books. Of course those have all been people that are still alive.. Yes my initial thought because he is close to the 4th ideal. There was a lot discussion about this at the meeting of the 9 deal and the reason they wanted Dalinar and Jasnah out of the way. It is interesting though since he hasn't actually sworn it you would think it wouldn't count so maybe it is the "Child of Tanavast" thing. Spoiler for interludes AFTER part two.
  16. Reading this new book that came out called Rhythm of War. Hope I like it.
  17. In the past it has been at midnight.
  18. Nothing like Stormlight Eve! I finished Dawnshard last week and it did nothing but get me more hyped for RoW. I told myself I would not read the preview chapters this time. I made it until like week 5 before I caved. Now the big question is do I skip to the Interludes after part one or start back over. I think I will start at the beginning since it has been a while since I read the first 5 or so chapters.
  19. I really liked this novella. Like a lot. I actually tend to like all of Brandon's shorts and this one had the advantage of some pretty amazing Cosmere knowledge. I have always like Rysn as a character and to be completely honest was a little concerned that she would become a KR and heal her disability. I should have had a lot more faith in Brandon and for that I apologize. The way he wrote her was truly amazing and I loved the Fabriel tech coming to her aid. She will be the Roshar Professor X before long. Her becoming a Dawnshard was just awesome. We learned what was used for the shattering, what the heck a Dawnshard actually is, more about the Sleepless, Larkins and a bunch I am sure I am forgetting this book deserves a re-read. If all that wasn't enough we get another favorite (and I think misunderstood at times) character The Lopen. He has always kind of reminded me of the Roshar Wayne (another favorite character). This book just further solidified my feeling about his character which on a personal level I identify with a lot. I think we have a somewhat similar personality and his 3rd ideal kinda rang true to me. I kid a lot and it is meant to improve peoples moods and laugh up but I know I take things too far sometimes. It cracked me up when he was yelling at the SF for the timing. I am looking forward to more screen time with Huio as well. As if I couldn't get anymore hyped about RoW Brandon dropped this little treat for us just in time.
  20. Another thought just popped in my head on a deeper level of Sazed's inaction because of the two shards he holds. They also more than likely belong to different commands along with being opposites intents. Although I think an argument could be made that you can change things to survive so not really opposite like the intent but possible used in conjunction.
  21. I like this! The only thing I am having a hard time with is the "Care" command. I cannot find the exact verb (I agree should be a verb) that would be the best but I think Feel is the closest I can come up with.
  22. Hmm this seems like a pretty solid connection and fascinating if it is true how far back the seed of this have been planted.
  23. Me too and let's be real it is crazy they pulled this off so quickly especially after the marathon of RoW. I had just carved out my evening to read haha.
  24. Maybe tomorrow
  25. The comment regarding Moash made me laugh.
