  1. Dude, the Parshendi are the Voidbringers, not the Chasmfiends. That's pretty clearly stated in both books. Also, Lopen is a darkeyed Radiant now. So is Lift. Nohadon is not a Harrold because the Harralds depart between destinations. They have to. It's part of their oathpact. It's possible that the Radiants devised the Storms, but it is more likely that the Storms have been around for much longer than the Knights have. The city that was built for the Radiants (can't remember how to spell the name) was built to weather Highstorms. I agree with the Parshendi surge binder. There is even a WoB on it somewhere. Parshendi can't change into Chasmfiends. If they could, they would have escaped the war that way. Instead, they harvested the beasts. Would you harvest your own kind? Weird theories, man. I like it! Keep it up! P.S. I think I have read both books more than you have listened to them. I live and breath them and haven't put either down since I picked them up except to read the other books in Cosmere. I totally understand how you feel about them. They changed my life. P.S.S. When I saw the title of the thread I thought "Strike me down and your journey to the dark side will be complete!" Then, I thought "Strike me down and your journey to the void side will be complete!" Just a Cosmere spin on the quote.
  2. Okay, how does Role Playing like this work? I have never done it before in the slightest. Not even a dungeons and dragons game, really. What do do? How do you do it?
  3. Exactly one group of people care about typos and they are the Grammar Nazis. Just edit your posts if you happen to see them. No big deal Also, have an up vote.
  4. If they do pick a champion, I think we haven't met them yet. I'm thinking it will be in the second story arc because that will resolve the story. It's possibly that it could be Lift. Sanderson is heavily emphasizing the fact that surgeons can be fighters and Lift is a surgeon.
  5. Granted, but you have to wear a mini skirt for an hour a day. It will be a compulsion you just can't control. I wish to be accepted into Battle School.
  6. Wonderful! Thank you. I'm happy to have you here.
  7. No problem! To make it just a touch more professional, you might consider adding the text with a computer after the world's are drawn. Like, scan the picture without the text, then add the text with Photoshop or whatever. That would get rid of the problem of illegible or hard to read handwriting. (I'm not saying you have bad handwriting)
  8. At a glance I couldn't see anything wrong. When you get it fully coloured scan it instead of just taking a picture. That way, we can all have a crystal clear view of it. Besides, I want to hang the thing on my wall. Fantastic work, dude.
  9. Ooh, what interlude was that?
  10. I'm not exactly sure how these things work on this particular site, so here is my attempt. First let me explain what this is. This is a new social group that will identify themselves as Cosmere Philosophers. I have been kicking the name around the forum for some time, but no one is kicking it back as positive. The group will be formed of experts on the Cosmere and will focus on the moral ramifications of the actions of characters. If you really like discussing morality, this should be the place for you. We will have no leader, just me as a clerk of sorts and very few restrictions. The only requirement to be able to identify yourself as a member this group is knowledge. You have to have read at least 90% of Sanderson's books. This is the only way to ensure well educated conversation. My advice is to read through the majority of the Wiki page, but that's just a suggestion. Try to put it somewhere on your profile if you are a Cosmere Philosopher. Really, I just want to see people thinking about the morality of the Cosmere. The "what's the point" mentality could solve some debates. Post bellow if you want to join. Edit: Here is the link to the official page http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/21176-cosmere-philosopher-official-thread/
  11. Yeah, I want to submit something. It'll be a little rough, but I'm getting the feeling that submissions don't have to be perfect.
  12. Going to the Ender's Game thing,I think they messed up Bean irreparable and messed up by having Ender leave Earth alone. Also, there was very little passage of time. It was just a bunch of stuff that happened in the course of a fee months of his life. I really didn't like that. I did like the battle room and command school. I think they did a good job with Peter and an even better job with Mazer. I liked Graph as well. Again, Bean sucked. So did Bernard. The kid dint even have a French accent. I LOVED Bonzo. He was so freaking perfect.
  13. That's the best list I've seen so far. I applaud you.
  14. Welcome! I hope to see you posting stuff. You seem to have read a lot (just a quick inference) and I hope you'll share your knowledge with the 17th Shard!
  15. I didn't look at the other posts, so forgive me if something I say has been mentioned before. Firstly, I loved the idea of the Weavers. That was fantastic! It reminded me of a part of another book that had a similar power briefly, but wasn't explored well enough, so I can't wait to hear more about them. Second, I really liked how you built the anticipation for the box. I was afraid you were going to end the chapter before you explained it and I felt very frustrated. Thanks for clearing it up. I didn't like how the chapter ended. I was left with a confused feeling at the end, and rereading it didn't really help. Maybe that's what you were going for, but I didn't understand it. I liked the hint that the person who hired the ship's captain was the same person that collected the three pieces of armor. That was cool. I just don't understand it and want to. All in all, I like it so far.
  16. I will get up on time.
  17. A full 3D portrail would be more accurate, that's why. I don't really want a full 3D one, just a really well done 2D map that I can stick on my wall. This is an excellent start to that, my friend. Keep drawing!
  18. Maybe one of the Shamans went to the Nightwatcher at the others request and asked for the ability to see everything that happened on Roshar or something similar. I won't pretend to know what the bane would be.
  19. Brandon said that the mass exodus was only talked about in WoR, not WoK. I'm thinking it's the Parshendi who fled Odium and settled on Roshar. Thanks for telling me who the Mistress was, though!
  20. I like the name!
  21. What if the people beyond are from Sel? The events there were first, they are exactly the kind of people that would want to take advantage of others, and the Shard That seems to be dominant everywhere but in Elantris is Dominion. To me, it makes perfect sense.
  22. Thank you, zas! Thanks for including my worldhopper questions. It made me feel good about myself. Quick question. Who is the Mistress? Also, was the mass exodus from the planet talked about by the Parshendi? I think Eshoni's mother talks about it in a song, but I'm not sure.
  23. All right, folks. I read both The Sixth of Dusk and Shadows for Silence side by side and took notes on how similar they are. I'm sure I missed some similarities, but these are the ones I saw. 1. Setting. They both are set in extremely dangerous wooded areas with safe places scattered throughout. (The safe places being around the birds and in a circle of silver) 2. Skill Levels. They both follow the most skilled people in the worlds. Silence is the only one who really understands the Forests because of her grandparents. Similarly, Sixth seems to be the best at navigating the most dangerous island. 3. Fighting for those they love. Both main characters fight for those they love. Silence fights for her daughters, Sixth fights for his island. He really does want to preserve his homeland, no matter how much he hates it. He'll probably fall in love with that one chick, but we'll see. 4. Power. The protection from the worst predators on both islands are similar. The Aviar great a circle around those they want to protect and the Shades can't cross silver. 5. The feeling. I don't know if this goes for everyone, but the feeling was very similar between the two books for me. I tend to pay attention to how works of art make me feel as well as the technical aspects of it. 6. Main characters. They were both socially awkward people. They were taught by their mentors to be as tough as possible. They were both, as I said before, extremely skilled. It seems like Brandon can only write this type of short story with the same feel in the Cosmere. Similarly, I Hate Dragons had the same feel as Firstborn. Those are the similarities I found. Do you have any to add?
  24. I wasn't trying to be rude, just pointing out logical fallacy in what I thought would be a humorous way. I guess it didn't come out right. Sorry
