  1. For me the star wars E.U. don't get me wrong there were a lot of awesome stories and I felt genuinely bad when Disney simply caned the whole thing. but there were just so many different Authors who each had their own ideas about how the universe should work and who didn't even bother to talk to one another that by the end it was a jumbled mess. Also both The wheel of time and A song of ice and fire both series started out great (seriously books 1-5 of the WOT rank as the 3rd-7th best fantasy books I have ever read (they will most likely fall further as Stormlight Archive progresses) but as they dragged on they began to fall apart. both series had the exact same problem for me, to many characters each getting their own story and ultimately bringing down the books. I don't care that Cersei Lannister is a b* this has been established for a long time we don't need a quarter of a book to reinforce this fact.
  2. Granted it's now the second to last and will be followed by the third Mistborn I wish my new job didn't take up so much time so I could be on the 17th shard more.
  3. So from the sound of things they threw out any idea of following the book? Thanks for letting me know before I wasted my money, I was disappointed with desolation turning into a cheep action movie and from what I've seen of the trailers five armies doesn't improve.
  4. I suspect that like ruin Harmony can only talk to people who have a hemalurgic spike in them
  5. Ummmm.... is it a good thing or a bad thing that I honestly can't remember? I know the first novel I read was either Harry potter or the Lion the witch and the wardrobe... I think. But if you count books on tape my father let me listen to the hobbit when I was like five or six and I loved it. (I liked it even better when I learned how to read)
  6. This is just something that has been floating around in my head for a while. On Roshar gemstones are cheap as dirt, while (presumably) on other worlds they're valuable. My idea is that a worldhopper could go to Roshar sell everything they have for a few spheres then travel back to their homeworld, or any other world in the Cosmere really and sell it for a fortune. Then you buy more trade goods and repeat till you're rich. I suspect that a few savvy worldhoppers might have picked up on this trick already, it could be how Mraize/Iyatil are funding the ghostbloods. And I wouldn't be surprised if Hoid was doing something similar on Nalthis since he seems to have reached one of the lower Heightenings of course Hoid being Hoid there was probably another explanation as well. So that's the theory I know that eventually this would lead to gemstones becoming more comon on other worlds but if it was done carefully a worldhopper could fund whatever activities they were engaged in while traveling the Cosmere.
  7. Well how about "Know everything and post everything Sanderson related to the 17th shard" If that's still to much then "Know everything and post everything Sanderson related to the 17th shard slowly"
  8. Granted you are a dog and can finish sent marking anywhere you chose I wish for a twelve pack and nothing to do tomorrow.
  9. Tonight on skybreakers: This little girl thinks she can break into a holly conclave and get away, watch the epic chase throughout the halls of the palace.
  10. One possible explanation is that she's a feruchemist (she is a Terriswoman so it's not impossible) and she's storing her innate investiture in Nicrosil metalminds this could cause the people of Nalthis to see her as a drab.
  11. "know everything and then post it to the 17th shard"
  12. I will not be distracted by anyth... oh hey look a squirrel.
  13. Wayne "And here we see the wild Koloss in it's natural habitat crikey isn't she a beauty. look at those swords the're sharp and sturdy enough to bisect a man in two with one swing... lets get in for a closer look." From now on I will read Wayne as being Australian.
  14. What are the Wob like on Odium not wanting other shards? (I looked but I can't find them)
  15. If we assume that the musical abilities Hoid shows in the stormlight archive are common place on Yolen. Then I have a fairly good idea where the Pied Piper of Hamelin was originally from. Edit: Also anyone got any idea what magic system powers Pinocchio?
  16. Don't give up you could be an Atium misting, although don't ask me how you'd test that. Also have you put on any metal jewelry to make sure you aren't a ferring?
  17. That's a really cool idea. But there's just one thing, if that was their boon then what was the curse that went with it?
  18. Actually in Way of Kings Jasnah mentions that Cultivation is worshiped in western Roshar.
  19. I've had the same Idea about Szeth myself, It would have made sense if he'd raised the alarm because a spren he had started bonding had told him. After all Wyndle seems to have his memory more or less intact so I don't think it's any stretch to say that other Spren also kept their memories when they crossed over. The one big flaw with this idea though is that if Szeth had already bonded a spren why the heck would Nalan recruit him. It could be because Szeth was a skybreaker and Nalan was willing to recruit him even though he ran the risk of bringing back the desolation's (although when he brought Szeth back the everstorm had already begun), he might have simply not known. Ultimately I suspect we'll find out in Stones Unhallowed which is looking further and further away. also right now the stone Shamans only have control over seven of the Honorblades they never had taenel's, Kaladin took Jezrien's from Szeth and there is one blade that's unaccounted for although it's suspected that Nalan took his back.
  20. Lift... it all makes sense now. That is actually the best explanation that I've herd for why Dalinar's soul was fractured enough to bond the stormfather, heck he may not even remember how broken he is if he's forgotten everything. I suspect that he's going to have to face down his past in his own book.
  21. That might have had something to do with Vin being Preservation's chosen champion. We know that the only thing the spike seemed to do to her was to let her hear Ruins voice and prevent her from actually drawing power from the mists. I suppose the best answer would be that if you are the chosen of a god the rules are a lot more flexible.
  22. Oh the irony. Edit: On a more personal note what does Grand mean? I've read every Cosmere book except Elantris and TES and I've never come across something like that... that I can remember anyway.
