  1. The point is that for how much effort the site puts into keeping spoilers under wraps, there's a big hole in the code if a Spoilery topic title can appear outside the actual spoiler board. But if topic titles aren't supposed to have spoilers in them, even if they're in a spoiler board, then the user is at fault. I'm looking for clarification/flagging a problem.
  2. Something that I just now, at this moment noticed, and I'm not sure if it's been noted before. On the main page of the forum, along the right side there's a section for New Topics. I just noticed that a topic from the SoS spoiler board is in the list, and the title itself is a sort-of spoiler. Is there a way to prevent this in the future, because I thought topic titles could have spoiler info so long as they are placed in the correct board. SoS spoilers:
  3. When they are curious enough to risk their lives bonding to a Rosharan for the sake of experience, do they need any reason other than curiosity?
  4. Which alternate ending? Did the ending come from the teen re-release? I didn't know WoA had an altered ending. Regardless though, if this new ending was in a published source from Tor, yes it's canon. If it's been directly published by Brandon (say, on his site) then you'd have to read the comments made on the post to learn if it's canon. If it's from the MAG, then no it's not canon ONLY IF it does not also appear in the published books from Tor.
  5. I would assume this to be true, since the two locations are connected, I presume there would be travel. Particularly when you consider the distances are so much shorter in Shadesmar. It would be like a Rosharan moving from Alethkar to the Reshi Isles. It would be near ludicrous if there wasn't movement, considering we know of nothing that would inhibit the travel.
  6. I mean, they award you an engraved knife, and apply a trophy next to your username for all your posts in r/fantasy. Perhaps it started as a joke, but it still means his works were chosen as best of the year by a community. I never said the award was prestigious Though looking at some of the competition for some of the categories...
  7. I think it would depend on who his first few fights are with. Let's say he uses the Speed Force to jump universes, and winds up on ReckonEarth with his team. If his first few fights are with lesser Epics, like say Curveball, which he's sure to win, he might be living in the setting long enough to realize that he won't be getting through to any Epics any time soon. Though he might decide to hold them while he finds a way to turn them good, in which case we're back to your point of the Epics escaping at some point and slaughtering the whole team
  8. Mmm, that's because the government has covered it all up. It was atop Air Force One after all. They don't want it getting out that Sharks are actually aliens that have taken residence in the oceans because we already had the land. It all goes back to Area 51!
  9. As a friend of mine put it, you're more likely to get it by two different bolts of lightning simultaneously, while battling a shark, atop Air Force One, than you are to win the lottery.
  10. At the same time, their names are along the same lines as his are (canonically, anyways), and so I'm not sure if he'd be upset, or shedding a tear of joy. Well, considering Epic's have proven themselves irredeemable (publicly), I'm not really sure what Barry's reaction would be, whether he'd be okay with killing them or not.
  11. Well, the Stabby Award winners have been announced, and Brandon won three! Shadows of Self won Best Novel of 2015, Perfect State won Best Short Fiction of 2015, and Writing Excuses won Best Related Work of 2015! That's awesome! Link
  12. All right, thanks for the reply. With no background in coding aside from a single class of Visual Basic, I wasn't sure if the badge system would be easier/harder to handle regarding updates. It makes no sense to implement a solution that requires a ton of work from a small group of volunteers.
  13. You're right, Blossom would struggle and most likely lose, but might be able to outsmart him if she could cut him off from Cisco and Caitlin. Bubble's might not beat him either, it would depend on how long he'd be distracted by her first bubble, if she can erect a second protection bubble around herself she can outlast him since his metabolism is redonk fast. I don't think he'd be able to beat Buttercup as he is now. The team on Flash would definitely fit in with ReckonEarth though, with the gang at the lab furiously trying to discover weaknesses while Barry tries to keep the Epic's from causing too much damage.
  14. Another way to look at it is you've got super collector's item. A leatherbound Elantris with an imperfection. High money right there, once you wait 50 years (maybe).
  15. Well yes, with where Barry is on the show, the only Epic we've got that might not best him is Backtrack If they did let Lucentia on the show, they'd put her in circumstances where her impulse to complain would be so strong Barry would have an opening
  16. I'm going to take this out of spoilers since we're now discussing an RP character, and I'll avoid anything that actually spoils (or potentially does so) the show for you. Barry would be able to escape the crystal by vibrating his entire body at a frequency that either shatters the crystal or allows him to weave between the crystal molecules. Without using some form of electric field, it's likely impossible to contain Flash. He might even be capable of escaping those, but I'm not particularly familiar with their physics.
  17. I really like the idea of the award system having specific badges to show where users frequent on the forum, allowing others to see where they got their reputation from. I'm curious as to how difficult this would be to implement. As Voidus noted, it seems to have originally been a manual system (particulalry due to Coppermind and 17S accounts not being linked). Chaos, I saw you noted that it's the updates that would make localization of upvotes a nightmare. Would that same reasoning apply here? If we assign specific badges algorithms to reference a user's upvotes in each Forum and apply badges when it's hit a certain number, would updates royally screw with that? If not, it sounds like the ideal situation as of now. If so, then it's an even worse idea than the localization of rep because every badge with an algorithm would need to be tracked after each update.
  18. Now I cannot, and will not, speak on the staff's behalf, but the devaluing of reputation is a fairly obvious trend to notice. To demonstrate, I will be using two members whose contributions to this site I highly respect, and in choosing them for this example, I do not intend to insult or criticize either. I joined really late in October 2014. At that time, high reputation counts generally meant that the user was very knowledgeable in Sanderson's works. One example of this would be Kurkistan, whose posts are almost entirely placed into the various Theory subforums. His contributions are vast, covering almost all of Sanderson's works, and have served to place him at the top of the list of users most knowledgable in the Cosmere. Kurkistan joined in September 2011, and his current rep count is 2288 at the time of this post. LarkoftheRiver, on the other hand, contributes very little to the Sanderson side of this forum, and far more contributes to the Community subforums, where she is often found praising others, criticizing herself, and talking about or showing off her great works of art. Lark joined in April 2015, and her current rep count is 2513 at the time of this post. Now, of those two users, which one has more users similar to their activities? I can think of, easily, upwards of 25 current users whose activity on the Shard resembles Lark's, and their Reputations mirror this; meanwhile I strain to think of 10 users ever whose activity and Reputation mirror Kurk's. When speaking of Reputation being devalued, I would think it is in reference to Sanderson knowledge, as this site is the Official Sanderson fan forum. We're even linked to not only on his site, but on Writing Excuses. That is, of course, not to say that what the Community does for members who frequent it is frivolous. As Kobold says, the Community now helps others get over self-confidence, self-worth, and self-image issues (it used to not be used even half as much as it is now), and even in our disagreements we are still a family here on the Shard. But one cannot deny the loss of value in the single Reputation point, as I can no longer look at reputation points and immediately have a very basic understanding of one's contributions to the fandom. Instead, seeing high rep counts now means that the user fits one of two profiles; 1)Very humorous, I am very likely to chuckle when reading their posts, 2)Very comforting, I am likely to either feel comforted by their post, or feel the need to comfort them in a response to their post. I feel like the best solution for the proposed problem would be to have Reputation points only count towards your Reputation score if they are gained in the sections based around Brandon's works ("The Cosmere" and "Non-cosmere Works"), while still allowing reputation to be given in the other threads, with little green numbers in the corners. Such would solve the issue pointed out by Kurk and Meg (which I myself agree with), as well as solving the issue presented by Kobold. Unfortunately, it would seem such a system is not possible.

    That's really awesome!
  20. When I say a lot, I mean ridiculous amounts, like multi-TBs. It's essentially not capped, but again if you were to spend every second of the period torrenting movies in 4k you just might hit it, maybe. As for phones, it's per-month (same with cable, internet, and home phone services). So you using 19GB since December would mean you'd need an Unlimited Data plan here in the States.
  21. In the US, internet provides place caps on the amount of data you can use, much like phone carriers. Unlike phone carriers however, who will jump from 10GB to Unlimited (which isn't really unlimited, read your contracts), the cap is so grossly huge that most people will never hit it unless they spend every second of the monthly period downloading movies, and even then you might not hit the ceiling. Maxal, however, does not live in the US, she lives in Canada, a country whose internet practices I cannot attest to.
  22. You've made some good points, but I don't think the Denth side of the theory holds much weight. Even if he could/did go to Scadrial, and found a means of surviving (giant store of Breath/somehow gaining access to mist), Warbreaker doesn't say Denth also spent time loafing around, indicating he isn't a feruchemist, and I don't recall any subtle hints of him ingesting liquids, meaning if he is an allomancer Brandon does not want us figuring it out as he left us zero clues other than this one instance of Denth moving wicked fast. Personally, I don't think there's anything supernatural about Denth's speed. He is the greatest swordsman to walk to face of Nalthis during the time of the book, he'd naturally be really quick. Though I agree that it seems oddly too quick, it's not so far out of the realm of possibility that a metallic art is needed to explain it. As for Tonk Fah, I'd say you've made some very solid points. I don't recall if Vivenna ever noted him having more than one Breath, but I do find the implications of your theory to be interesting. Say he is Scadrian, as I don't recall a way for anyone without Terris blood to be a feruchemist, and Ruin wouldn't have been able to mess with any hemalurgic practitioners on Nalthis even if he was still alive, then that means that large stores of Breath would not reveal magic users of other systems. This would mean that Breath doesn't grant investiture sense, and would beg the question of why Vasher could sense Syl (perhaps it is just life-sense after all).
  23. Tales of the Abyss actually has the best anime out of all the Tales games (Symphonia's OVA, Vesperia's prequel, etc.), and it's really well done. If you ever feel like revisiting the story of the game, I highly recommend that instead of watching another play through. All three Fate/Stay Night stories feature a ton of rule breaking. It's an odd design decision, to explain in great detail the rules of this "game," but then proceed to break over half of them. Zero was the Holy Grail War done right, with minimal rule breaking and maximum strategic outmaneuvering. It's actually a wonder as to why this is never really mentioned more among the fan base, people just accept it an move on.
  24. Out of curiosity, are the listed limits cumulative or separate? Can he have 1 Avatar and 20 enhanced and 50 regulars, or should all those "and"s be "or"s?
