  1. I graduated almost exactly 4 years ago (in a week and a half it'll be 4 years) with a BA in English, emphasis in Creative Writing and a minor in International Studies. I thoroughly enjoyed my classes, teachers, and a fair amount of the coursework. as well as my fellow students. I had some rather good times.
  2. I wonder if it's because you're left-handed that you walk on the "wrong" side of things. Your story reminds me of a ski trip I went on in 5th grade. We all had to do the ski class and then take the test down the bunny hill to prove we knew how to ski before we could actually go up on the mountain. I failed the test because I started on the wrong side of the cone (never mind that I did everything else perfectly). I didn't even know there was a correct side. I attribute it to the fact that I am left-handed and mostly left-dominant and therefore view things differently than right-handed and right-dominant people. It sounds like you're similar. Also, in case anyone is curious, I never passed that ski test that day, and I've never been skiing since, because that experience left a bitter taste in my mouth. I much prefer snowboarding, but I've only ever done that twice.
  3. I'm left-handed, but right-eye dominant. I have slight heterochromia. It was more obvious when I was a child, but one of my eyes is a slightly darker green shade than the other. Both are sunburst though, so there're some great orange and yellow flecks in my eyes (I love my eye-color). I'm allergic to garlic (when it's on my skin), and I'm garlic-intolerant (when ingested). I'm allergic to pretty much all kinds of grass. When I was three years old, I was run over twice by cars. The first, no one was driving, and the second, my mother was the driver. Speaking of vehicles, when I was 18, I jumped on the hood of a moving car. I then promptly face-planted into the windshield and my glasses cut up my nose. That was less than a month before my high school graduation. Not one of my finest moments ever. ....And I think that's pretty much it.
  4. Crap. I swear I was going to RP, and then time got away from me. Action 1 Who: Adira Wilson, as House Lady What: Buy a farm and a bakery Where: The farm is by Urteau with the bakery in Luthadel. When: Gen2, Turn1, Action1 Why: To supply bread to the populace, get into a food industry, and make money.
  5. I'd like to interrupt your daily slaughtering to remind players about the Etiquette Policy. We want these games to be fun for as many people as possible, which means gloating is not permitted. Be kind to your fellow players, even if they're on the other team. There is never a situation where boasting and gloating is acceptable. If you're unsure what I mean by boasting or gloating, put yourself in the other player's shoes and consider how you would feel if you were to read the comments you're about to say. If you wouldn't like to hear them, you probably shouldn't say them. This applies both to words and to tone. Thank you, and I return you all once again to the bloodbath.
  6. My answer to both questions is Jain. Why would I be most surprised? He's in third place in terms of games played (after Maill and Alv), he's obsessed with pandas, he's a teenager, and he lives in Australia. However, what if he doesn't live in Australia and he just has a really weird sleeping pattern that makes it seem like he lives in Australia, and he can get away with saying that? It's obviously just a cover. His erratic playstyle when joining was clearly just so he could take a break from all the writing he does, and rejuvenate his creative senses, and he's lately been "lurking" rather than actively playing as much as he used to because he's working on Stormlight 3, obvs. As for what would happen if someone were to prove they were Brandon. This could go one of two ways, I think. Or possibly both ways. He'd either not die in the next couple hundred games, as Ren suggests, or he'd become a prime target to the troll players because they think it would be hilarious to poke the author and see what happens.
  7. Dragon Age is a video game. I've never played it, but it's fairly popular, so someone is bound to be able to answer it. I have a feeling most of the 75 views came during the Infinity Blade question, since that took a full 3 days to get a response.
  8. Me, me! I can! The one that kills people daily wins! Disclaimer: I never would've gotten involved in this topic if Kobold hadn't been singling out SE for Reckoners. But I just can't let a jab like that stand. I have no illusions that SE will win this, but he asked for a war between SE and Reckoners, and by golly, I'll make sure that SE doesn't die first. Even if we die eventually. Since we will. We kill people all the time. Of course we'll die eventually. 9 17th Shard Discussion 7 Tech Support 7 The Coppermind Wiki 11 General Brandon Discussion 10 Events and Signings 8 Interview Database 11 Cosmere Theories 11 Stormlight Archive 12 Mistborn 9 Elantris and Emperor's Soul 10 Warbreaker 8 Cosmere Short Stories 10 The Reckoners 12 The Rithmatist 8 Alcatraz 7 Other Stories 7 The Wheel of Time 9 Writing Excuses 11 Reading Excuses 11 General Discussion 3 AMAs 10 Entertainment Discussion 10 Creator's Corner 10 Role Playing 12 Sanderson Elimination 2 Reckoners RPG 8 Social Groups, Clans, and Guilds 20 Mistborn: The Inquisition
  9. I'm actually curious about this view. While I'm quoting you here, this is more just an open comment/question to anyone reading this who shares the same view about pure faith, no works. I'm a staunch believer of faith requiring action and works, since I believe that faith is an action word. In James 2:17, it says that faith without works is dead. Christ taught people to follow him, not just in belief, but in action, and to live like him. Or at least, that's what I believe. Because of this, I don't quite understand the "all you need is faith" side of things, and I'd like to fix that. I guess my lack of understanding might stem from a misconception, so I'm just going to explain how the "pure faith" side looks to me, and then you all can correct me as you see fit. I want to be clear that I'm not trying to offend anyone with this; I'm just trying to understand a viewpoint that I've never understood before--mostly because I've rarely been around people who have this view, and when I have, the atmosphere hasn't been reasonable enough to discuss it in an non-inflammatory way. As this topic has been incredibly civil thus far and everyone seems to be trying their hardest to keep it as such, I'd like to actually finally understand this. My first comment is about how anyone can say they believe something. Simply saying "I believe in Christ" doesn't mean that one actually believes in Christ. This point is probably addressed through the intent of the person, since God knows what people truly believe, but I just want to make sure that's the case, since I could easily be wrong. Second, it seems a little strange to me that someone like Hitler could profess a belief in Christ and be saved through that belief but someone like Gandhi couldn't be saved unless they professed a belief in Christ. And third, what about all the people who never had a chance to even hear about Christ? There are billions of people who lived before Christ and after Christ, who weren't in parts of the world were Christianity was practiced, and those people would've lived their entire lives without ever having heard the name of Christ. I can't believe that a loving God wouldn't let those people be saved simply because they were born in the wrong time and/or the wrong place. Again, none of these points are meant to offend, and if I worded any of them in a way that was taken offensively, I apologize. I'm just trying to state my thoughts on it so the people who believe in faith without works can respond appropriately to them. I have no doubt that you've all heard these arguments before and that you have responses to them. I just want to understand your side of things better, since it's a view that I'm unfamiliar with.

  11. Almost within a month of each other, actually. Reminds me of when Neal A Maxwell and David B Haight passed away 11 days apart. As for the current conversation on evolution. I used to be a Creationist, but that's because I didn't really know much about evolution. Then, in (quite strangely) a geology class at BYU-Idaho, my personal beliefs went to more of a mix of the two. The LDS church doesn't have any stance on evolution: some apostles have believed evolution is a fact, and others have said that it's absolutely not, but the Church as a whole has no doctrine about it. So it's up to the members to decide for ourselves (not that we wouldn't have that ability if they did have a stance). My personal beliefs on it are thus: God exists and he set things in motion, by laying down the laws for life and everything else. I believe that mankind as we know it started with Adam and Eve, but that there were pre-Adamites. Science says that there were. How I reconcile it is in terms of our spirits. The scriptures, in various places both in the Bible and more particularly, the Pearl of Great Price (an LDS book of scripture), talk about how God waited after creating something until it obeyed. I use the definition of "obey" that's "behaving in accordance to" which that particular definition has been ascribed to the universe as a whole, and I think the meaning here is the same. I think it's referring to evolution as a law. Life adapting until it's the way it should be. The scriptures continue by saying that God gave man a gift or a blessing, depending on the scripture. I think that gift was our spirit. I don't think Pre-Adamites didn't had that. Adam and Eve were given it, and that's what started the human race as we know it. Or at least, that's what I believe. And it fits mostly with both scripture and science, and I think that's what truth needs to do. Science and religion aren't separate, and truth isn't more applicable to one than the other. Real truth fits with both, I think.
  12. Yes, it could. 13. Action 3 Who: Lady Kyara Wilson, as House Lady What: arranging a marriage for her daughter, Adira Where: Luthadel Why: To marry the future leader of House Wilson, providing possibilities for heirs and the continuance of the House.
  14. Assuming your answer counts and that question is valid: Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig. I think I'm missing one of the actors...George.....something. I think. But that's more than 4, so I'm good. Name 20 Middle Earth actors.
  15. I don't have any high suspicions, but I believe I have the (original) Glory Discoverers narrowed down to 4 people. While that's a 50/50 shot, I'd prefer certainty. If we want to make requests of factions to scan certain players, I think we should figure out which factions should scan the requests, so we don't get a 4 diplomats scanning the same request. I suggest Heritage scan Glory, Glory scan Moderation, and Moderation scan Heritage. Obviously, this is assuming that the Diplomats aren't bribed away, but there's not really any way to counter that. I'd like to change my request from a scan on Adamir to a scan on Wyrm. He's one of the four I'm uncertain about currently and with his prior experience as a Sharder, he'd be an asset to the Discoverers, if he is one.
  16. Nobody said Orlok was bribed, and Adamir never implied that either. Though now he's confused. Basically, what happened went like this: I was trying to figure out the composition of the Discovery faction, but since Shallan hadn't checked in yet, we didn't know which faction was Moderation and which was Heritage, so Wyrm created two names: Moderage, and Heritation. Maill's faction went under one, Alv's under the other. And then I started working from there. Adamir saw Orlok's name under Heritation, and didn't realize that it was a mash-up of Heritage and Moderation, and assumed that he was the Svordish Diplomat, so without saying anything to us in the doc, he posted in the thread, and that's what he's continued to do since then. Hence all the confusion. We have no idea which Diplomat Adamir is, since he could very well be either. This is, of course, assuming he's telling the truth, and he's even a Diplomat at all.
  17. I agree with you, and I'd like to add that as Moderation is currently in the lead and it's in Discovery's best interests to keep the factions as even as possible, the odds are high that Discovery will already try to target a member of Moderation today. This leaves Moderation with two choices: 1. You can go with Hero's suggestion and choose a member of your faction who's the most suspicious and all three factions can team up and kill that person, without intervention from Discovery. 2. You can continue to go after someone in one of the other factions and Discovery will control the lynch, and likely one of you (who will definitely not be Discovery) will die.
  18. I'm shocked I missed that white text. Yes, that's correct. I knew that description was too easy. I'd hoped describing Macduff like that would throw some people off but apparently not. Also, fun fact, in college/university, I was in a Shakespeare class, and we were put into groups and assigned a play. We had to film a short movie retelling a modern version of that play. My group was given Macbeth. Our short movie is on YouTube, and it's the most embarrassing thing ever. I'll probably regret this later, but here's the link. Who I am in that is for me and a few other very select people on this site to know, and hopefully no else to ever find out.
  19. I can neither confirm nor deny that it is a play, but you'll have to be more specific in your guess. I'll need a name.
  20. Crap. This happens every time. A man who is on unfriendly terms with his ruler leaves, and the ruler, fearing treachery or worse, has the man's family killed.
  21. Google tells me it's probably A Madness of Angels.
  22. Since we have to work together to find the Discoverers, and if we don't help the other faction's diplomats know who to scan, they'll just be scanning blindly, I'd like to request that either the Moderation or Heritage diplomats scan Adamir. He's my biggest suspect for a Discoverer in the Glory faction. Which isn't something we should really be sharing, but it's not like it really matters anyway, since we'll be able to work out who started on which faction anyway. All we need to know is the original faction of the person we bribed.
  23. I notice that the predominance of discussion thus far has been from my faction, with only the barest of comments/questions said by those in other factions. This isn't really a problem, except that it's obvious that in order to find Discovery, Moderation, Heritage, and Glory must work together. Our team's diplomats are useless checking our own faction members, and spooked Discoverers look no different than someone bribed to a different faction. Our only hope of finding the Discovery faction lies in other faction's diplomats and sharing our faction members each cycle so we know if someone isn't in the docs. Please note that I am not saying we should kill the Discoverers. I'm simply saying that we need to remove them from our docs. So long as there are Discoverers in each faction, they will be trying to subtly pull the strings, getting the people they want lynched and also probably trying to arrange the bribes to screw over two teams at once, if possible. If they're not in your doc, they can't do that. If they're not in your doc, this becomes a pure faction-based game, and we can all take each other on head-to-head. If it weren't for Discovery, we could stop talking in the thread altogether, because discussion and communication here in the thread is pointless in a faction-based game where we send in votes privately. However, if we don't communicate, Discovery wins. Unlike in MR1, there's no dead tweet or obvious spooking to tell us who the infiltrators are. They'll slide by, and if any of them do get spooked, I can guarantee that if we're not working together, the other Discoverers will ensure that that person gets bribed back into a faction. We will lose to them if we don't work together. We may lose to another faction if we do. Which would you prefer?
