Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
little wilson replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I doubt it's four. I'll bet I've only got three. And I did post the exact phrase. I just added onto it. If you notice, the phrase in the writeup didn't include period. Also, my reasons for doing so are solely because I'm pretty sure we've wiped the Cultists out of vote manipulation and I don't want to risk giving them more. Also in light of my tasty vote addition, I want to reiterate my message to the Gyorn: Choosing me as your Odiv would be a very poor life choice. Trust me. You do not want me as your Odiv (assuming you haven't already chosen one). While I haven't sabotaged myself like Kas has, there are other reasons why I'm a very poor Odiv candidate, namely that I will die this game. That's just a fact.- 1221 replies

I get why you're asking this, and while it's an innocent idea, it's still breaking the rules. If we allowed it for you, there would be other members who would request alt accounts for other similar ideas, mostly in the RPG's. Even I wanted to do an alt account for a joke in an SE game over a year ago. Would've been a simple joke that would've just been more funny than anything else, but it still would've been against the spirit of the game. I think the same goes for Wyrm's RP. If you can get him to send an anonymous message through a different route that works in-game (like hiring a courier for an action to run a message to the player), go for it, but an alt account isn't the way to do it.

I'm starting to really see the points about Araris. I believe he is a Cultist. My vote, however, is staying on Karlin because I think he is the Gyorn and I don't think he's picked an Odiv yet. And if he has, the pool is still small enough to find the Odiv quickly.- 1221 replies

Oh, now that's fascinating. Has a Seon he kept hidden and has only used on seemingly one other person. Plus, he's been incredibly quiet in the thread, with each post of little-to-no substance. Yeah, my vote is on Karlin.- 1221 replies

Not quite, because it seems like my extraverted side is overtaking my introverted side, so I'm not so much ISTJ anymore. At least, I wasn't an hour ago.... I've always preferred Donna and Rose to Martha anyway.
-
I've got your back. (When I mentioned this earlier, I was somewhere between Donna and Martha. And then I took the test again about an hour ago and got ESFJ....so I'm Rose now too! )

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
little wilson replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Role distribution is a hard thing to gauge, since it's really dependent on the GM. Judging by the fact we have 2 Priests, I'd venture to say we have 2-3 Warriors, and if the latest write-up is any indication, that seems correct (The hooded figure was someone they hadn't seen before, so that indicates it was a different Warrior than the one that blocked the Cultists Night 5). Priest: Phatt (dead), Meta (confirmed) Warrior: evidence of 2. -could be a third. Monarch: Wilson (confirmed) -likely the only one Keeper: Feligon (dead), Kipper (proven) -Might be another. Cultists could easily have one. Duke/Duchess: indication of only one so far. Cultists most likely know who it is, since Bort controlled their vote at one point. -could be another Prince/Princess: Bort (dead Cultist) -could be another and if there is, they're a villager Debtor: Spencer (dead) -at least one more, and one of the remaining Cultists is probably a Debtor. Pirate: Honey (dead), Mek (claimed but not confirmed). -Cultists probably have one, could be Mek, but it's probably someone else Dula: Kas (confirmed), Wyrm (confirmed) -likely the only ones Regular: Zas (dead Cultist), Winter (dead Cultist), Locke (dead), Maill (dead) -there's at least 2 more, possibly up to 10 more Veteran Elantrian - Neo (confirmed) Gyorn: 1 As we started with 31 players, and typical Eliminator numbers are somewhere around 1/5 of the total players, we probably started with 6 eliminators. 5 Cultists and 1 Gyorn. Probably. We could've started with 6 Cultists, but I'm betting 5, since the Gyorn also chooses an Odiv, which would add an additional eliminator. If there were 6 Cultists to start with, that makes 8 eliminators, and that's over 1/4 of the total players. That's a little high, but it could work since the Odiv doesn't join Team Shu-Dereth until a little way into the game (assuming he's not one of the very first converts), and by then some of the Cultists would (theoretically) be dead. To be noted about the Cultist team, if there is only 5: Bort - Prince Winter - Regular Zas - Regular ? - ? ? - ? As they already have 2 Regulars, it's rather unlikely they have a third. I'm betting their last two roles are Debtor and Pirate, though the Debtor could be replaced by a Keeper. (I'm more certain they have a Pirate than I am about the Debtor).- 1221 replies

Ah. Yes. Some people go to extremes in finding God's hand in things that there's literally no reason for Him to be involved in whatsoever. My chocolate addiction has nothing to do with God, even if I occasionally joke that heaven surely has chocolate fountains and God loves chocolate too (and while I have nothing to back it up with, I actually believe that God does love chocolate, because it's chocolate. Who doesn't like chocolate?!) Anyway, though. Yes. There are things that have nothing to do with God, but then there are others that if we're looking, we can see God's hand in them. Though, admittedly, a lot of those could be explained as coincidences or just a fact of life. My not getting that job at Ancestry in January could've just been because I simply wasn't good enough. I personally believe it was God's way of telling me that I'm in Utah for more than just a career, and I can't forget those other reasons I'm here to focus on a job (if I'd gotten that job, it would've taken up a lot of my time between work and the commute, and I would've stopped doing things with my friends because my focus was on work). I guess it's about finding that distinction between what's you and what's God, if that makes sense. For me, I don't normally bother with it unless something pretty nasty has happened in my life, and I'm like "Okay, why did that happen. This trial freaking sucks and I'm clearly supposed to learn something from it, but what?" And then I go trying to see God's hand in it--not to blame him but to figure out what the reason is, because oftentimes just knowing that can help me get through it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 - "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that which ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." I think that goes for trials too.

I agree that the bigger things matter more to the grand scheme of things, but I absolutely believe that God (as I believe He exists) cares about us and wants the best for us. If we care deeply about something that isn't a "big picture" type of thing or we ask His help with something, I believe He'll provide it. I believe that because I've seen it in my own life. Just little things, here and there. One of the biggest examples that I can think of was this night when I was in college. I'd gone out with a couple roommates for an activity on campus, and I ended up falling down some stairs and hitting my tailbone really hard. I could barely walk for ten feet, let alone across the entire campus, uphill, to get back to my apartment. The one roommate I could find was busy doing other things so I told her I was heading back. Didn't tell her why, and she didn't ask. I left the building, but I wasn't even 20 feet away before I knew I was going to pass out from the pain if I kept going. Then I saw this group of 5 girls walking toward me, about to cut through the building on their own path back to their apartment. I knew one of them. She was from my hometown. She's my sisters' age (so 3 years younger than me). She saw me and knew something was wrong (apparently I was white which tells me just how close I was to passing out right then), and when she found out what, she ran back to her apartment, got her car, and drove me to my place. She told me that she goes out on walks every night with that same set of roommates and they always cut through that building, but they've never used that door before. They've always entered from a different one. But they changed their path that night. For some unknown reason. To continue with that story, that happened on a Wednesday night. I was going on a mandatory field trip for my Geology class the very next morning. Thursday through Saturday. Sleeping in tents, traveling for hours on end in a van over bumpy roads. Hiking up hills. Everything you can imagine that would be necessary on a geology field trip out to the Middle of Nowhere Utah (my school was in southeastern Idaho, so that alone was a 6-7 hour drive there). And I've just injured my tailbone horribly. Now, when I got back to my apartment and this occurred to me, I was dreading the next three days. I couldn't get out of the field trip without failing the class, but my physical state prevented me from going on the field trip. The LDS church believes in priesthood blessings, and that's the only thing I could think of that might help. So one of my roommates ran over to the guy's apartments and found two guys to come over at 11pm to give me a blessing. I didn't take many pain killers on that trip, and while the pain was always kind of there in the background, it wasn't ever terrible. I could do everything I needed to. Sleeping in a tent on sand dunes with no sleeping pad? Not a problem (normally that would be a problem even without a heavily bruised/almost fractured coccyx). Hiking straight up half a mountain? Hardly a twinge. Rummaging through a rock quarry for trilobite fossils? Done. Sitting in a van for 4-5 hours on average per day? That's a bit of an issue, but even then nothing terrible. After returning, on Sunday, I was sitting on my couch, and I shifted and the pain was excruciating. I'd even taken a pain killer and the pain was still overwhelming. So why didn't it affect me the past three days when I was doing all those other far more physically-exerting activities? No idea. Does it really matter on a grand scale that I could've passed out walking across the campus that night? No, not really. Nothing would've happened to me. It's a church-owned school, so someone would've found me eventually and helped me out. Does my grade in geology matter to the world? Nope. I changed my minor to something that made far more sense to me so that class didn't end up mattering at all. But it mattered to me then. All I really know is that, to my knowledge, there's no logical, scientific reason for how those experiences unfolded the way they did. I suppose one could say that those girls wanted to try a different path, but human beings are creatures of habit, and this was 2 months into the semester. Those girls had taken that path for 2 months, for at least 5 nights a week. Seems a little strange to choose that night of all nights to try something new when the old path had worked so well and there was nothing preventing them from using it again. And I suppose adrenaline could be used to explain the lack of pain on the field trip. I don't really have much to say about that since I don't know what my adrenaline levels were then, but I do know that my adrenaline level the night it happened was off the charts and the pain still found its way in. The only explanation I can see is that I needed help and I was crying out for God to help me so He did. He nudged those girls to take a different path. He lessened my pain so I could do what I needed to on that field trip. While I know that worldwide (or at least national) events have a far greater impact on people so God is more likely to get involved with those, it's the little things that stick out the most to me, those "tender mercies" as I sometimes hear them called. Those have the most impact for me because it's a lot easier to see His hand when it's affected my life in a direct manner.

Getting some help for an awesome music shop and this site.
little wilson replied to Rubix's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
Fine. I'll downgrade. An upright? That's cheaper.... And Zach, it's not anarchy. It's promoting more of the arts! It's what the owner of the music shop would want! Why distribute just tubas? What about people who can't play a tuba but can play other instruments? I say that choosing tubas alone creates anarchy, since it's discrimination against not just other brass instruments, but also woodwinds, keys, strings, and percussion. And promoting rep abuse! How could you? I'm appalled to say I know you. /drama -

No one after. We talked Day 5, and I'd been in contact with Kas on Night 4, which was when Kipper passed the message onto me. Since Meta had revealed himself in the thread and confirmed Kas as good, Kas and I talked a bit about the message, and I know Kas went and contacted Meta on Day 5. So I'm guessing that's where Meta learned about it.- 1221 replies

I don't know what the problem with your vote is, but I do find you suspicious due to the attack on Seonid last night. Odd target wouldn't you say? Unless the Cultists thought he was an important role. But why would they think that? Maybe because Seonid told you he was in contact with someone who was protecting me and you all thought the Jindo was him. I hate to break it to you, but you were wrong. Oh, I know you know gambits can be so much fun when you're on the right side of them!- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
little wilson replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wilson had never planned to become Queen. Not really. But when she arrived on Sel, she quickly realized the Queen was the best position to gather the information necessary to find that blasted storyteller. She decided to pose as Kiireon. It hadn't taken much to remove the woman to an unknown location. And as it turned out, she looked similar enough that all it had taken was a few minor tweaks to her eyes, hair, and cheekbones to look like her. But now she wasn't sure it was worth it. Every time she heard the word "Mother," or any variation thereof out of the Prince's mouth, she wanted to hurl something at him. Preferably something that would wipe that smug look off his face. She considered telling him that she wasn't in fact his mother. That could be amusing. But the repercussions could be far more widespread, particularly if her comment made it's way back to Kiireon's husband. Even Wilson wasn't that cruel. Still, she didn't have to listen to an admitted Cultist and murderer---yes, she was a murderer, too, she knew, but she liked to think she was far classier killing by coins than by dagger---and for all intents and purposes, she was the Queen. "Guards," she called. "The Prince needs time out. Take him to his room!"- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris

Without a Seeker scan, I am never absolutely convinced of people's guilt. Even when it seems like I am, I'm not. It's one of the reasons I get taken in initially by eliminators so frequently: I'm always willing to give second and third chances to people when they screw up, assuming they can provide a suitable explanation for the screw up. That's a lesson I learned in LG1 when I got duped by an eliminator and multiple villagers were convinced that I was an eliminator. They never even tried to talk to me to figure out if I actually was or not and I refuse to make that same mistake. In this case though, when I placed the vote, I was about 60% sure. By the time I replied to your first rebuttal, I was 99% sure and simply trying to bait you into saying more or someone else defending you, even slightly. Shame that no one did...- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris

I'm amused that the Cultists tried to bind Meta's hands by poisoning him and throwing him into Elantris and instead, all that did was restrict him to only scanning Bort. One of their own. It's safe to say that Dow is not a Cultist. I'd pretty much already assumed that, but with how hard Bort's been gunning for him, it's nearly certain. I also rather doubt Wonko/Sart is, since Bort switched the votes two cycles in a row onto Wonko. That one's less certain, but I think it's about 80%. Ostrich likely isn't a Cultist either, since Bort switched Ostrich's vote at least once and he's also voting for him right now. Personally, I'm rather suspicious of Hael, and not because Bort said that he trusts him (if anything, that would make me less suspicious of Hael, but Bort's been doing a lot of things that I wouldn't attribute to an eliminator, like going head to head with me in a pretty decent argument in-thread). Hael's vote on Bort at the beginning of this turn seemed slightly contrived, particularly with how easily he retracted it. It was almost like he placed a vote knowing that he needed to because Bort had voted for Phatt, but they'd worked out a way in the doc for Bort to explain it enough for Hael to retract.- 1221 replies

How Many Sharders Have Signed Copies of Books?
little wilson replied to Elithanathile's topic in General Brandon Discussion
The books I have: All of those except the dual Mistborn/Way of Kings copy and Firefight are signed and personalized. The Final Empire is actually double signed, because I loaned it out to a friend and she got it signed again. None of them are signed with answers to questions, and most of them are just the standard comments: "There's always another secret," "Life before death," etc. However, two of them, I'm rather fond of. Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
little wilson replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
To be completely honest, it sounds like the RP is just an excuse you can use to justify placing a vote on a Priest. I'm betting you did consider it. It would be foolhardy not to. Who really places a lasting vote on someone solely for RP purposes? Also, I really don't think you can claim to have been "right" here, since you had no idea what would happen. Unless you're a Cultist and you actually did know, because you knew the shenanigans that were (or weren't) going to take place.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
little wilson replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
A bit guilty? I should hope that it's more than a bit. And who knows if Elantris will even be restored? He could've been Hoed for the rest of the game! And of course there wasn't any chance of him dying, but that was never the issue. The issue is Hoe-ing a Priest! And you still have no comments about that. I remain unconvinced. You'll have to try a little harder.- 1221 replies
