Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
little wilson replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Really? Because I'm pretty sure earlier, your views on the Warriors and the Priests were this: And I responded with this: To which you said: Now, I'll be honest here: you've brought pretty much nothing to the table so far. To summarize the basic points of all six of your posts (EDIT: seven now, since you posted while I was writing this): 1: I agree with Winter on lynching. Let's not worry about a mislynch of a priest/warrior because we've no doubt got multiple. What about those Elantrians? 2. I'm not sure that lynching a really experienced player is good, but I don't want to cast vote because I don't really know what I'm doing. 3. Let's talk about killing someone. Now can someone else suggest someone, because I don't want to. 4. Wilson's guess about my priest/warrior mislynch was right, but I'm not going to explain my reasons because I don't know if I can trust her. Oh, and Mckeedee might be a debtor. 5. I agree with Kas about lynching someone. Let's not worry about the Gyorn. Maybe the Converts should post the lists, but not yet, since that might ruin their strategy if they get picked as Odiv. My list of suspects is the predominant people who've been discussing things. 6. Mckeedee seems like he's trying to attract a Duke/Duchess to get rid of his debt. EDIT: 7: A debtor would admit that they were a debtor. I'm not really interested in delving into this too much, but there's really not much of substance here. You're mostly just agreeing and then when people ask you to clarify or explain yourself, you make something up. Or at least, that's what it sounds like. You won't explain your reasons about the numbers, because you don't know what side I am. Okay, but unless you're evil, you don't know if you can trust anyone in this game. That doesn't mean you shouldn't discuss. Sure, if it's sensitive information that you don't want in the eliminators' hands, you should keep it to yourself, but even if you were a Warrior or Priest yourself (which I don't think you are), you wouldn't have any sensitive information that you couldn't reveal about role numbers and your reasons for believing about those role numbers. Saying that you won't discuss because you can't trust someone is just putting a stop to discussion and quite frankly, it makes me wonder why. Is it because you don't know what to say? Need to consult with teammates in a doc to get a good excuse, perhaps? But that's not actually what I really want to address. I find it interesting that you initially said that the numbers of the priest/warriors were something that we didn't have to worry too much about a mislynch for. There are "multiple" and "we can't go terribly wrong." But then all of a sudden, you're saying that there's one 2-3 Warriors and 1-2 Priests. Conveniently, this is the exact same number that I suggested. In a group of 31 players, I'd say the possibility of losing one of our very few protective roles could be terribly bad for us. And I'd definitely say that about losing our only priest. Especially since they're safe roles. In retrospect, I really wish that I'd asked you to clarify your role numbers before saying anything about it, because based on how you worded that initially, I really doubt you were thinking 1-2 priests and 2-3 warriors. And you can try to use the stream of consciousness excuse. But that won't help. Stream of consciousness, if anything, would help you less, since that would mean you were being entirely genuine with every word you wrote, meaning it all. Which means you meant "multiple." Not one or two. That's not multiple. Two is multiple. One is not. Yes, I know, I'm focusing a lot on wording. That's kind of what I do. The way people word things can tell a lot about what they mean. Phrasing, the order of sentences, all sorts of stuff. English is fascinating like that. I only shoot down ideas that I disagree with, and I solidly lay out my reasons for why I disagree with those ideas, since that's what a discussion is. Agreeing or disagreeing with what's been said previously and why you think that way and what you'd like to contribute. You did ask for a lynch target. I'm simply offering someone other than Orlok and Mek.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
little wilson replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm typically of the idea that it's the lynch discussion that is more important than the lynch itself, and if there's a very useful discussion that doesn't necessarily hinge around the death of one particular individual, it's not necessary to kill anyone. That's not often the case though. Normally the discussion (if there is discussion) is only fruitful is someone dies. That said, most useful lynch discussions don't happen on the first day. They happen when there's a little more information to be had, which, at the earliest, is Day 2 (unless the game starts on a Night, and even that's a little iffy). Still, I don't think trying to keep a debtor from dying is really something we can control, so there's not much point in discussing it. There are far too many vote manipulation roles out there, and with their powers being what they are, even if we have a 3-4 vote buffer, that could easily be swayed to someone else entirely or end up as a tie and a random debtor dies. Personally, I wouldn't be torn up if a random debtor was lynched at the beginning. I'd much prefer that happen than a Jindo Warrior or Shu-Korath Priest. When you say "multiple priests/warriors," I get the feeling you mean more than two each. I highly doubt there's more than one Priest, though I suppose with this number of players, there could be two. I also rather doubt that there's more than two warriors. Normally, I'd say there would be 3 or more Warriors for a group this large; however, the Priest and the Warrior are the only guaranteed good roles in this game, and safe roles are notoriously problematic. I highly doubt there would be more than 3 or 4 in this game, and even that seems a little high. Regardless, this kind of complacent attitude in reference to our guaranteed good roles concerns me. An Elantrian could be a cultist. Or there might not be a Cultist among them yet. I think it would make less sense for the Cultists to start out with an Elantrian that it would for them to start with a Debtor (since I can kind of see why a Debtor would make sense for the Cultists to start out with). Personally, I think targeting an Elantrian at this point would be unwise, despite there being only three of them, since I really doubt that there's a Cultist there. Furthermore, I think it would benefit the Cultists to try to target the Elantrians if they don't have one of their group in that number. Get the Citizens focused on a group that'll take 3 cycles to wipe out (since we'd be targeting the starting number)? While the Cultists can slide by and just kill at their leisure for the first 3 cycles? That's not a bad idea. As I said just above, I think it's likely that there actually is a debtor among the Cultists. Probably only one, but there's still one. Why? Well, because one, with the vote manipulation roles, it's unlikely that there will be a tie even if it looks like there will be a tie. And two, because that's any easy way to try to kill off one of the dukes/duchesses. And three, they no doubt have two, possibly three vote manipulation roles, so it will be easy for them to steer things away from a tie and protect their debtor without showing their faces. And now, for my vote. It will go on Sienene for now. EDIT: And I just realized my first and third reasons for the debtor among the Cultist is the same. That's what I get for not proofreading. Ah, well. The point stands.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
little wilson replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sign ups for this particular game are actually closed since the game just started last night. Sorry! However, we should be having signups for another game--a Quick Fix--here in a week or two, so if you keep checking back, you'll be able to sign up for that if you'd like. You can also sign up as pinch hitter for this game, which means that if someone goes inactive, you might be called in to replace that person. Then you'd be able to play (but it would be using the established character with their alignment and role). If you'd like to do that, just PM Herowannabe or Tulir and they'll get you on that list. And since apparently we forgot to lock this thread, I shall do that now.- 1221 replies

Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
little wilson replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
Actually 50 of that is for the Level 1 inspection they had to do to find out what specifically was the problem. But yes. I am definitely counting my blessings that it was only 300 and not 500 or 1000. I can afford 300. I don't want to, but I can. -
Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
little wilson replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
Yesterday, while driving home from work, my car started shuddering on the freeway. Fortunately I was close to my exit, so I just coasted for the last mile and on the off-ramp, tested to see if I could accelerate at all or if the engine itself was having problems. I could accelerate, but I couldn't go over 2500 RPMs. So I took it to an auto shop. They were about to close, so they gave me a rental car and kept mine overnight so they could run the tests this morning to figure out what was wrong. Apparently there's some sensor that broke, which in terms of auto failure is actually a good thing (or at least, it's cheaper to fix than an engine or transmission issue), but it still means that with the labor and parts and everything, it's going to cost me just shy of $300. -
If we're talking weekends, this Saturday evening will not work for me. I'll be up in the Salt Lake area for a game night. Next Saturday (May 30) will work though. Or Tuesday the 26th. Either one works for me.

To be fair, that was only before he changed his actions due to atium. After the change, I think he was only hit twice. And since both attacks were spikes, I like to think that they came in the form of Dark Alley cookies and Meta was feeling low on sugar so he ate them knowing what they were but needing the energy to fend off everything else. That might just be me, though.- 1221 replies

Yes, well, my stats are somewhat deceptive. I've survived four games, yes, but the last four games that I've played, I've been killed. Brutally. And I expect that to continue, so fear not, little one. I will soon become as extinct as you currently are.- 1221 replies

Is anyone here not in college?
little wilson replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
I'm not in the age group you're calling on to back you up (I'm only 28), but I agree with this whole-heartedly. I'd also combine it with something maxal said: In direct reference to this thread topic, I very nearly didn't go the university I graduated from because I let people sway my opinion of it. In high school, I wanted to go to one of the BYU's but I never even applied, because I'd grown up hearing my brothers and their friends bash on those types of schools, and I was worried about what they'd say if I went there. So I started at a community college instead. I don't regret that choice, because ultimately it was better for me financially, but I do wish that I hadn't let people's opinions sway my own. I highly recommend that if you really want to do something and someone close to you is trying to change your mind--but they don't have any real world experience with what you want to do any more than you do--don't listen to them. Study it out for yourself and if you still want to do it, do it. You're in charge of your own life and no one else (not even your parents, if you're an adult). You're the one who has to live with the regrets and/or memories you make. -
So Ancestry.com offers DNA tests so you can find out what your genetic makeup is. These tests can help match up with other users who have also taken the tests, so you can connect with those other users who are related to you (close and distant). These tests normally cost $100, but last month, Ancestry was doing a deal for 20% off, and I decided, sure why not? The results typically take 4-6 weeks to come through and I just sent it back 2 weeks ago, so I wasn't expecting my results anytime terribly soon. But I got them today! And now I know for certain that I am very European. Like, 99%. And apparently I'm a little Middle Eastern too? Never would've guessed that....

So if there was a cross-team match up with one of the pairs, the three would have to work together to win? Imagine it: the Gyorn, a Cultist, and a citizen of Arelon all matched together. Why do I have the feeling that I'm going to be the Bella/Katniss/Shallan in a triangle, if one happens?- 1221 replies

I'm not normally bloodthirsty. If one does something heinous enough, my bloodthirsty side comes out. Claincy did something heinous enough. This is my chance to even the score. If someone gets between me and my target....well. Heaven cannot help that person. And I know exactly who I would pair together if I'm the Dula. It's the perfect match for one such as I. It delights me. I would hope that you wouldn't match us, since who knows if I'll even be able to kill you first. But if you do then you shall become the next Bartbug. You're not to his level for me yet. You're the one exception to the whole "I will hunt you down in all games henceforth" comment. I said I took you off my lists, and that I'd never add you to another one again. You aren't worth the trouble. That's still true. Troll away, Mr Lord of Troll. Nothing will come of it.- 1221 replies

You will be my biggest target ever, no matter what alignment I am or the strategic reasons for keeping you alive. You will be an even bigger target than Claincy. And that's saying something. Oh, and I'll probably sacrifice myself, just to kill him. OW came back from being eaten by an Awakened sword. What's to stop her from whatever death she inflicts upon herself here?- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
little wilson replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wilson leaned against the wall of the City of Kae, focused on her breathing. In and out. In and out. She tried not to think about the journey she’d just made to get here. She’d felt like like she was going to be ripped apart at one point, and—No. She wasn’t thinking about that. She was here. That was all that mattered. What she was doing here would make the journey worth it. It had to. She straightened and turned around, looking at the towering, dirty walls of Elantris. She’d heard about the city in her travels and readings, but she’d never seen it. It was beautiful. Or it would be if she used that kind of language. But she wasn’t here to stare at grime-covered buildings. Her purpose was far greater. The ghost had finally resurfaced. She’d chased him for months, reaching out to all her contacts on every known world, trying to track him, but no one had found anything on the storyteller. It was like he’d just vanished after having her favorite niece murdered in cold blood. But she’d waited patiently, and now her patience would be rewarded. She was finally onto him. Clancy wouldn’t escape Sel alive. Not if she had anything to do with it. But to blend in. She had to blend in if she was going to succeed with her mission. She was in Arelon, and they liked their names based on their Aons. She closed her eyes, recalling the Aons and their meanings from the book she’d read ages ago, while doing their work on Nalthis, before things went horribly awry. She shook her head, not wanting to remember that time either. A name. What would be a good name? She smiled as the perfect name hit her. Kiireon. She started toward the King’s Court, vowing that she would finally find him and put an end to this chase. He was hers. Yes, that’s right. Original Wilson is back. I was going to sit this one out, since I really don’t have time for a game this complicated right now, but then Claincy had to sign up and that was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I considered just putting a contract out on his blood, but Original Wilson cried out in anger against that idea. Apparently she wants to make the kill herself? Bloodthirsty little demon. Regardless, while she is Wilson, for RP purposes, her name is Kiireon. While we may know who she is, the characters do not. Also, I really don’t have time for a game this complicated, so I’ve sworn to not do notes. I’m playing purely by instinct and ear. I expect this will fail tremendously, but we shall see.- 1221 replies

Here's an article I read the other day explaining Thor's pool scene and why the very little bit of it is in there and nothing more. This also explains more of why Loki's scene got cut too. I'd heard Tom Hiddleston filmed a scene, and I'd been hoping it would be the end credits scene, but then it wasn't but now I get why. At least we'll get the deleted scenes. Producers can't stop us from getting that, even if they can cut it out of the theatrical version.

But....but....If you insist on looking for Nazgul positions, I have a few recommendations. If you're willing to branch out and try other positions though, I have a wealth of openings. I'm sure we could find something.

Is anyone here not in college?

I got my Bachelor's almost 4 years ago, and I'm pretty sure there's no amount of money that would get me to go back. I've almost got all of my debt paid off, and I have no desire to accrue more. -
We might need to have a talk about that. I'm trying to phase that name out. Something about people thinking I'm going to stab them in the back at any second.... Don't know where they'd get that idea.
