Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
little wilson replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Multiple in both the thread and PMs have expressed doubt about you in some way, shape, or form. I've been focused on other players, though, and haven't been paying as much attention to you. But since most of my own suspicions seem false, I'm starting to look at others. I still need to go back through the whole game to see what I find (and that'll be scouring for anything on anyone, not just you), but I was willing to throw a vote on you last cycle on the idea that that accumulation of suspicions from at least three different people about different things you've said on different cycles would prove potentially accurate. But then I was driving in a rainstorm and getting drenched trying to figure out what was going on with my friends on Saturday night and by the time I got back to my phone, it was 9:30. Ah well. Gives me more time to gather data. So, just so I understand this, Gamma's duplicitous playstyle (which he had shown in two different games before he became mod) has shown you that you can play the game how you want to, so you took that opportunity to vote for someone else who was also playing the game how they want to play it? I have no problems with someone playing the game how they want to play it. I've always been in full support of that. I don't personally agree with Gamma's tendency to go rogue and switch sides for a laugh, but I know he does it, and it's what he likes and that's enough. If I get betrayed by him because I trusted him, the only person I can blame is myself. That goes for everyone. If you know someone tends to be a dictator when given a position of power and you let them take power and they become a dictator, they're not to blame for that. That's just the way they play. The people to blame are the people who let that person take control. I don't condone dictators. I never have. Just because someone has a safe role doesn't mean someone on their own team can't vote for them if they think the safe role is being a dictator. In MR5, I abandoned Team Epic for a short period of time because Jain was being a dictator. I told him in no uncertain terms exactly what I thought about his leadership methods and then I placed a vote on him at my earliest convenience. We patched things up later after he explained his side of things, and we got along perfectly well after that. But things were very precarious for over 12 hours. My point here is that it's fine to disagree with someone's playstyle. If you don't like a dictator, you don't like a dictator. If you don't like someone on your own team betraying you and joining the opposition, I completely understand. You clearly didn't like Gamma messing things up for Team Village, but how is what you're doing right now any different? I don't know when you placed a vote on Phatt, but I'm guessing you knew about Winter's vote at some point before you left for the night. You knew that one more vote and he'd be a Hoed and be out of commission for the rest of the game. I understand disliking dictators but there's a difference between disagreeing with a person's playstyle and showing your disapproval and taking an important village role and making them useless for the rest of the game. You attempted to do the latter. Not the former. The former is perfectly acceptable for a villager to do. The latter is not. Until you provide a better reason for having tried to Hoed Phatt or someone relays to the thread what Meta's scan on you revealed, I'm voting Bort.- 1221 replies

My favorite name ever is James. I'm not sure what it is about it; I just love it. Other male names I'm rather a fan of include Alan, Karl, Stuart, Elliot, Jesse, David, Liam, Isaac, and Colin. But there are many, many more. And Eric, I have the opposite problem. There aren't any female names I really like. There are ones I don't mind (Beth, Evelyn, Alice, Isabelle), but there aren't any that I really like. It's a pain. As an addition to this topic, there are two middles names I adore. Ainsley and Ramsay. Both for boys (at least, Ramsay for sure; Ainsley could work for a girl). Those have roots in my family history. They're both Scottish, and Ramsay is from my dad's side and Ainsley is from my mom's. I like the idea of using family history for middle names. It's a good way to connect a person to the past and remind them where they come from. But that might be because my middle name is inherited from my mom and my sisters' middles names are my grandmothers' first names. I sort of really like family history and genealogy.

Well, those were not the results I expected. I assume a Jindo Warrior didn't protect Meta when the Cultists were expecting the Warriors to protect him. Things are not going well for them. They should pick their targets better. The newest convert to Shu-Dereth is Kas. I feel it's only a matter of time before Kas starts composing poetry to the Gyorn. I dread the day that happens....- 1221 replies

I'm no longer quite as suspicious about Luckat, but I'm not entirely sure who to vote for, since my two biggest suspicions (Luckat and Mek) appear to be incorrect. For now. I'm going to wait for a bit, but my vote could well end up in Araris. Multiple people have commented about his behavior in PMs and in the thread. I haven't been losing him much attention since I've been focused on others, but the comments made about him make sense with what I've seen, so my vote will likely go there unless a better target comes up. This vote is still far too close for it being a little over 3 hours to the rollover.- 1221 replies

I'm an E/ISTJ. My I-E preference doesn't get much higher than 10% on either side and I switch back and forth on them frequently. I've taken the test 3-4 times in the last 8 months and I've gotten both results. Two different sites as well--Human Metrics and 16 Personalities. I'm not sure which one I like more. The slider option on 16 Personalities is nice, particularly for the questions where you're more in the middle on the answer. The switch back and forth led me to take the ambivert test, and I'm pretty solidly an ambivert. While I tend to draw energy from people, I also like time to myself, I don't crave human interaction constantly, and I prefer having a very close group of friends as opposed to a large group of acquaintances. And yet, I can go two months straight with no nights to myself, and I'm not insane by the end of it. I think my goal is to get all of them as close to 0% preference as possible. Well, except J. I've got a 40-50% preference for J and I have no intentions of working to lower that at all. The P way of thinking just doesn't make sense to me at all. I'm all for a wide based of knowledge, but I need rules and goals and a set course of actions otherwise my brain can't handle the laxity. But anyway, that's the cool thing about this test. It's that saying that you're an INTJ or ESFJ doesn't necessarily mean you're exactly like someone else of that same personality type, because people have differing preferences. You could have one person with a 10% preference of I over E and another with a 90% preference. Sure, they're both I's, but one is very much more introverted than the other. Additionally, it's not like this is where you will always be. Personalities are ever-changing, and I feel like this helps you understand where you right now so you can work on other aspects that you might not be so good about. And then in a year, you can take the test again to see if anything has changed. In that aspect, it's different than some of the other personality tests out there, namely the color personality test, since that one has you answer based on how you were as a child. And I was yellow as a child. Hardcore yellow. I was blue as a teenager. Now I'm red/yellow. People change; that's just a fact. I think personality tests work best when they help reflect that change and perhaps help you to better understand them.

The books don't have to have shown their death, but they do have to have died during the course of the novels, so James and Lily wouldn't count as they died before the story started (if only just). ^^This. If the game was distracting him from schoolwork and could compromise his grades, he'd absolutely drop out. I don't think he'd like it (regardless of the team he was on), but he'd do it. And he'd be a lot more likely to drop out as an eliminator and get a replacement than as a villager.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris

Actually, the first three votes on Maill were from Alvron, Twei and me, in that order. You're right that Clanky put the forth vote, though. And the next two were from Meta and Kas. Before Meta voted, Honey had gotten a 3rd vote, so it was still close. Not that I'm saying Honey isn't suspicious. He needs to talk more. But he was the 7th vote on Maill. I agree fully about Clanky though. His lack of reasoning for that seems like an easy way for an eliminator to hide in the lynch of an innocent. Particularly if one of their own was on the chopping block too. Ostrich is the big one. He hasn't posted in the thread once the entire game, yet he hasn't been replaced yet either. I'm almost tempted just to have him lynched because his activity is suspicious. Karlin has posted 4 times this game, and never more than once in a turn. He also tends not to say much. Dow has gone considerable less active in the last couple cycles than he was in the first couple. Clanky's been rather quiet. Claincy, but he's given real life reasons, and when he's able to check in he posts a fair bit. Mek has also gone far less active, but he gave the reason for that during the night and from what I've heard from someone else on the matter, it sounds legitimate, so I'm disinclined to view him as suspicious. Honey Badger hasn't been talking much, nor has he offered a reason why, to my knowledge. Alvron has been rather quiet the last couple cycles. Would be useful if he'd talk a little more. I don't get the impression he's evil, and I know he's rather busy in real life, but more discussion would be beneficial there, especially since his insights could really help right now. Jain has been rather reticent as well. Araris is yet another one, though he just posted explaining that. Twei's confirmed good, but she's posted very little (7 times the whole game) Wonko had things come up in real life and was replaced by Sart, and Sart hasn't said anything since taking over (though that's likely because he's catching up on everything that's gone on, like you are). Emerald took over for Pifferdoo, and he said a little bit, but then real life happened and he'll be back next cycle? I can't remember. But he'll be back. And obviously Luckat. .....So basically over half the players in the game aren't talking much at all. Conversation is being dominated by a select few people, half of which are confirmed good (me, Kas, and formerly Meta) and the other half of which are unknown (Hael, Kipper). And from what I know, Elantris is pretty active.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris

My point about your lack of posting wasn't an incrimination actually. You're jumping in 4 cycles in. There's a lot to catch up on. And it's not that the analysis tells us nothing, but that it tells us nothing about you, since that's pretty standard and while there was interpretation of the analysis, it was pretty straightforward. Regardless, that very detailed response has generally assuaged my concerns about you. Really, it was mostly just gut due to that post and a healthy dose of fear that Aonar was evil. Fear of you didn't really play a part other than that you're devilishly clever and I'd prefer you not be on team evil. And since neither of us is a fan of the heads rolling, Wyrm. I will now turn my sights to Luckat. You've got no problem jumping on to talk about who's been converted and to offer up some very minor points of analysis that I'm not even sure could be called analysis, since Meta doesn't really have a reason to lie about the pendant, so it's obvious that he was poisoned. I know you're smart and very analytically-minded. How about you speak up a little more? My vote will not move until you start participating, and I don't just mean a minor little post. I mean genuine participation.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
little wilson replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
This move was with the priests was a clever one. Killing one priest who the Cultists were pretty sure would be unprotected due to the call for the Warriors to protect him last night and then poisoning the other one? Worked rather well for the poor luck they’ve had the past couple cycles. Not to mention it was very clever. Now, that leads me to wonder who could’ve orchestrated that and why didn’t they do anything like that earlier? Perhaps because it’s a pinch-hitter. Someone like ]Wyrm. Since he took over for Aonar, Wyrm hasn’t said much this game. And Aonar didn’t either. He was exceedingly quiet before he withdrew. Now, Aonar has a tendency to go quiet when he’s an eliminator. Sure, he goes quiet occasionally when he’s on team good, but that’s fairly rare. But the last two games he was an eliminator in, he went almost dead silent. Inactive silent. Lurker silent. While I’d love to think that his replacement was evidence of his Cultist nature, this is the first game we’ve had pinch-hitters, so I won’t do that. However, I do find it interesting that around the time Aonar would’ve decided to be replaced, Winter mentioned to me she might want to bail on the game and get a pinch-hitter. Perhaps because she heard it in the doc? Perhaps because her team was talking about it, since Aonar was unable to plan as much as he would’ve liked? I’d also like to note that there was specific mention of activity in the doc not affecting a player’s ability to be replaced. So he could totally help his team until Wyrm took over, though since he had so much going on in real life, he likely couldn’t do much. That’s all that I’ve got on Aonar, though. So now let’s look at Wyrm. I’m going to ignore his analysis since that’s all it was and it really tells us nothing. The post I’m interested in is his first post this turn. Now, perhaps I’m the only one who felt this, but there’s an undertone there that is very off. My hackles raised almost from the first paragraph when I read it the first time. And it hasn’t died down as I’ve re-read it. I can even pick out where I’m left wondering. It’s the second sentence here that strikes me as off. I’m not entirely sure what it is, but the first clause reminds me slightly of a self-congratulation, and the last clause is redundant. We were always supposed to be analyzing and discussing in the thread. Using our “wit and ingenuity”. This was never about a follow the cop strategy and Meta said that last night. Even before Meta revealed himself, we’ve been discussing. So why is this new? “Domi help us all”? Nice vote of confidence in the village there. Mistakes are common in the early game for the village. Mislynches happen. The point is, we’ve continued discussing and trying to figure out what’s going on in the thread. Sure, the Priest helped us catch the first Cultist, which is fantastic. That’s progress. But we don’t need the priest to win. He’s just a great boon. The next bit that interests me is mention of Seonid and Kipper. That screams of a massive attempt at redirection to me. He’s trying to make it seem like Kipper is a Cultist, and uses the PM blame as the reason? Huh? A true villager would let it wait and see what the GM said or how Kipper reported back. An eliminator might take this opportunity to throw suspicion onto two innocents, so even when the GM does report back, people are still going “Hm. Maybe there is something funky there.” The point is, Kipper/Seonid was a non-issue at this point, until we heard from Hero. So why bring it up? Why direct focus there? And lastly is that whole paragraph on Wonko: I doubt Wonko is a Cultist. Highly doubt it. If he was, I think he would’ve been a little more hesitant to reveal to the thread about Phatt being a Priest. Learning that kind of information, he would’ve been in the doc, consulting on how best to reveal what he had learned and “OH MY GOSH, WE’VE FOUND A PRIEST!!!” Additionally, he contacted me that next night, and I very nearly gave him some incredibly sensitive information. I was this close to telling him something important. He told me to have caution, because he couldn’t guarantee that he wouldn’t leak it accidentally. Now, he’s since said that he wanted that information just as much as any Cultist, but I really think a Cultist wouldn’t have cautioned me against it, and if he were a Cultist, he would’ve been sure to keep it well-contained from other villagers, because it’s sensitive information, and the Cultists don’t want the village knowing all the sensitive information about other villagers. They want that information for themselves. Better to kill us with. Wonko’s not a Cultist. If Wonko is an eliminator, Wonko is the Gyorn, but I’m not even convinced of that either. No, I suspect that the leak came from Zas, who is likely an eliminator. I doubt it came from Winter. If Phatt had directly told Winter what he was, he would’ve told the rest of the Elantrians that, and Ren would’ve told Kas. If Phatt indicated anything about his role, it would’ve been more as a subtle hint, and since the Cultists cannot c/p PMs into the doc, the Cultists wouldn’t have been able to read between the lines for her. She would’ve had to pick up on it herself. And I have reason to believe she didn’t. Mostly because I said something to her in our PM on her last day, very subtly, about another player, but I guarantee that if her teammates had seen it, someone else would’ve been attacked. That tells me that the leak was probably from within Elantris. Which brings me to a question about something Winter said: Renegade, Winter said she contacted you on the first night, and when she relayed to me what you’d told her, she said you thought that Elantris was clean. That you guys started uninfiltrated. Did you say that? If Meta and Kas could relay his answer, that would be fantastic and will give us a better idea. If he didn’t say that, she was trying to get us (or at least me) convinced that all three starting Elantrians were clean when they weren’t. If that’s the case, Ren and Neo have been confirmed good, so it has to be Zas. Not that I suggest we go after Zas right now. If he’s truly an eliminator, he’s crippled by his Hoed speech in the doc. We need to take out the bigger strategists first. If I’m right about Wyrm, he should be first. He’s far too clever to be left alive when evil. Though I still suspect Luckat is a Cultist as well. She’s been far too quiet. And if that’s right, I’ve no doubt she’s contributing some deadly plans too. Still, Wyrm is the bigger threat.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris

I'm on my phone, so I'm not going to say much, but yes, I've got a PM from Seonid (still need to read it though). And yes I've been converted but the Gyorn would be stupid to make me his Odiv as it is literally impossible that I'm going to survive this game.- 1221 replies

The two bandwagons in question were the first two: Fel and Spencer. You didn't vote at all on Day 1 and your official vote was for Twei on Day 2 (before Twei, you'd voted for Hael). And to my recollection, Winter's comment about you were based on your participation in the bandwagons. But you didn't participate in the bandwagons. So she was wrong. Wyrm was writing off the people who participated in the bandwagons in the analysis, and you were one of the people removed from the list. I was simply correcting that list because technically you should still be on it.- 1221 replies

Didn't your mother ever tell you not to snoop in a woman's private files? Now I have to change it so as not to be predictable.....tsk tsk.- 1221 replies

Age related question - are you happy?
little wilson replied to Delightful's topic in General Discussion
I'm 28, and I still haven't had that. Hurts a lot less now than it did 10 years ago. Funny how age changes your perspective on those things. Like maxal, I wouldn't ever go back to my teenage years. Not for all the money in the world. I got horribly depressed in 8th grade and it took about 10 years for it go away. High school was terrible. Early college wasn't much better. My first year at university was decent, and then I met two fantastic people who became my best friends for a couple years. Got to understand myself a bit better, and--surprise, surprise--the depression went away. My last two semesters at the university were my favorite semesters ever, even though I was taking 18 credits. It was a blast. All of my classes seemed to relate to each other, even though they were in entirely different fields (German, English, and Political Science). And then I graduated. Adult life isn't easy. Work can be exhausting, but at least you're getting paid. And really, 40 hours a week isn't so bad, when you think that it's just 40 hours a week. Unless you're the owner of a business or a workaholic (or a doctor on call, or a few other select professions), you don't take your work home with you. When you leave the office for the day, it's done. There's no homework or studying you have to do. You can use your time how you want. Sure, you have to do your laundry and clean and buy groceries and pay bills and other adult things that kind of suck, but no one's controlling you. Not that you can't still have insecurities. Those crop up. I think they always do, particularly if you've never really taken the time to get to know yourself and feel comfortable with the person you are. I know people in their 50's who are unhappy with life because they just don't know their purpose. But I know people in their early 20's who are so secure in the person they are it's insane. Not everyone has that skill of just understanding themselves though. A few people do. But most people tend to feel lost. And I personally feel that the best way to handle those insecurities is through therapy and counseling. Those tend to get a bad rep: people who need counseling are really broken, but I don't think that's the case at all. It's about recognizing that you're human and you need help because sometimes there are psychological and emotional things that you can't get over by yourself even if you know exactly what the problem is. I couldn't. And my year in counseling was the best decision I ever made. I can easily say now that yes, I'm happy exactly where I am and what I'm doing. And I'm looking forward to whatever else life throws at me because I know that I can handle it. -

I plan on going over my PM with Winter with a fine-tooth comb later on. Hopefully I can do that tonight, before the rollover, but I'm not going to promise anything. She talked a lot more in that PM than she should've and I'm certain that if her teammates knew she was saying as muc has she was, they wouldn't be happy. It might not reveal anything, but maybe it will. In the meantime, I'd like to caution again for everyone to beware of anyone who contacts them with Seon Ien. If this person has been scanned and confirmed by Phatt or Meta, it's fine. But if the person hasn't been, don't reveal anything to them. Roles, people you've been in contact with. Nothing. It's not certain that they're a Cultist, but it's highly likely. If you have received Seon Ien and you are a villager, request to be scanned. You might even want to say that you have it. Or get in contact with Meta. Or pass it to Meta. That would be even more ideal. Not that I want to encourage a follow the cop strategy, because I don't, but he really should have a Seon and be able to communicate. We all just need to be discussing here in the thread in the meantime. Wyrm, thank you for that analysis. I have two things I'd like to say about it. One, Wonko has not been confirmed and while I believe he is not a Cultist, I still think he could be the Gyorn. Two, Clanky did not participate in either bandwagon (though he did vote for Maill). Winter (who I seem to recall was referring to the first two bandwagons when she said that) got that wrong.- 1221 replies

More of just an info dump than anything else, though with the exact plan being what it was, I suspect that the person who she was planning with was checking the site fairly often and had been on on their own account recently even if they were using private browsing right then. It's not about drawing connections solely based on that list. But I jotted it down because it could be important combined with other things.- 1221 replies

Sorry for the double post, but I've been waiting until late in the cycle, when Winter can't fix this, to say it: Winter never retracted her vote for herself. The only vote on Phatt is from Bort and whatever the Cultist Prince(ss) puts on there. He should be fine.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris

Kiireon almost said it. She almost blurted out her true calling. Wilson, the Bloodthiirsty Goddess, but she caught herself just before opening her mouth. She swallowed and considered her options. And found she had no preference. If she couldn't be called by the honorific inherent to her true name, it didn't much matter to her. "Anything that esteems my position suitably. I shall leave you to determine what that position may be." He surely wouldn't land on her immortality and divine nature (she'd be worried about her cover if he did), but she was immensely curious to see what the man would come up with.- 1221 replies

Thank you for the apology. All is forgiven. I would like to comment though that if you need to put a after a passage that you recognize could be taken offensively, you might want to rephrase it so the emoticon isn't necessary to portray the inoffensiveness of the statement (even if you still use the emoticon). Having to put a cheeky emoticon with a questionable statement to downplay the offensiveness is sort of like saying "No offense" before you say something offensive. But that's just my two cents.- 1221 replies

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
little wilson replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
See, this is the bad thing about reputations. They blow up, and often times, you can't control the way the blow up, and it really can get irksome when that reputation spins you into something you loathe and would never be. I got taken in by Winter, yes. I'm also 100% positive that I explained why that happened. You can say that it wouldn't have happened to you, because it's clearly an eliminator strategy. That's you. Not me. When a pre-teen is conversing with me and at one point expresses the fact that they suck and feel utterly useless and want to bail on the game, I feel bad. I help them out. I give pointers. I encourage them, because this is a game and if we're not having fun, there's no point in playing. That's just what I do. If it ends up with me getting manipulated and defending an eliminator, so be it. I'll take that. But I would appreciate it if I didn't have to endure gloating simply because I have a heart. I'd do everything in that PM with her the same way as I did, even knowing her alignment now. I regret nothing. Also, you want to know how I got the Bloodthirsty Goddess nickname? I got horribly deceived by an eliminator and then killed. It wasn't until I read the dead doc that I realized Claincy was an eliminator, and I may have gone a little overboard with my threats to take his life in an upcoming game. Hence, Bloodthirsty Goddess. I think people tend to forget the origins of that name and focus on the threat that it makes me sound like. Now, sure, I'm a threat. But I'm not inhuman. I don't have superhuman abilities like being able to pick out eliminators from a mile away and kill them in my sleep or manipulate people into doing things when they're ignoring everything that I'm saying, or anything of that sort. But based on comments made about me the last few months, that's what it feels like people think. And it doesn't exactly make me want to continue playing because that's not me. A constantly lying manipulator who can't keep an alliance even if she tried? Why would I ever want to be that person? Basically, keep in mind that the people you're playing with, regardless of their threat level, are more than just the avatar you see on the screen. We are human and we make mistakes just like anyone else. You may not mind gloaters, but not everyone feels the same way, so it's best to just refrain.- 1221 replies
