ghostbloods (OB) what Ghostbloods want with ....
teknopathetic replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
I would love if they were just the semi-moral agents of Cultivation. She wouldn't need to be as honourable as certain other shards in getting things accomplished. It would be even more interesting is she had this group for a while but Honour knew nothing of it. -
ghostbloods (OB) what Ghostbloods want with ....

I also think that the Made may have been loyal to the Singers, and perhaps they went over to Odium when the Singers switched Gods. Sja-anat may be trying to save her people from Odium now instead of from the humans. Now what the Ghostbloods want with the unmade is another question, but the group certainly does seem knowledgable. I wonder if the Ghostbloods took the unmade living in the tower. -
ghostbloods (OB) what Ghostbloods want with ....
teknopathetic replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
I do wonder if the unMade will exist if Odium leaves the planet. If the unMade figure out that they are disposable, maybe more of them will try and revolt. Odium didn't leave power behind on Sel, so it makes sense that the unMade will be ununMade if and when (and I do think when) Odium defeats Cultivation. As for the Ghostbloods, I do believe the theory involving Scadrial. However, I don't see an easy way for Brandon to make this society accessible for non Mistborn readers. Warbreaker is one easy book to read to figure out the Azure connection, but a Scadrial connection would take a reader 6+ books for true understanding to take place. -
[OB] Whose Side Were the Thaylens on in the Past?
teknopathetic posted a topic in Stormlight Archive
Full OB Spoilers Below! Their Phenotypical Traits The Theylans do not resemble the other heritage groups of Roshar. While we know certain heritage groups have unique features do to Human/Singer crossbreeding, and the Shin perhaps being more "historic" traits, we don't really have an explanation for Theylans' long eyebrows. These eyebrows are quite a divergence from every other humanoid trait, and we haven't been given an evolutionary reason for why the Theylans have this. The Shin and the Iriali are different refugee populations to Roshar, so are the Theylans another wave of refugees brought in to Roshar? How many refugee populations have ended up here, and if so, where are the Theylans from? The Passions The Theylan religion is "polluted" with non-vorin ideas: the passions being the most obvious. It seems that Vorinism was mixed with the idea of the passions and this has left a bit of conflict between the Vorin Church and the Theylan Church. in OB, Queen Fenn is not unfamiliar with teleportation like the Oathgates, and she says that her legends speak of "One with passion could open up portals between worlds; every girl dreamed of being that person". Is Fenn speaking of Oathgates, Regal Braize interactions, or Refugee history between worlds. The Theylan's also believe in passion as a force of nature. This isn't too different from the devoterees, but the passions do sounds like a corruption of the devotees of Vorinism. Yalb says "But I do know the Passions. You win when you need it most, you see." This little line reminds me more of the Thrill than anything else in-world. Location: The Shin and the Iriali were granted lands on the edge of the Rosharan continent where the Storms were weaker. Likewise, the Theylans were given land in the South where the winds are much weaker and more suited to human inhabitance. This to me makes the location seem more like a reservation than a naturally inhabited region (to humans). What are your thoughts: Where did the Thaylen's come from? Are they new-er to Roshar than certain humanoid ethnic groups? Did they follow Odium in a previous desolation? -
We do have one mention of the Passions opening up portals Fenn says they have legends that “the one most passionate can open up the portals between worlds; every girl dreamed of being that person”. Is this a refernce to the oathgates, Regals, or to something different. Also, did the Theylans fight for Odium in the last desolation? Their entire culture seems like a reference to Odium’s magic.
-
True enough, but did they evolve sans Shardic influence?
-
Do we thing the Illness magic of Ashyn is something natural to the planet, or an influence of Odium. Spoilers for Oathbringer
-
I truly don't believe Odium about his Passion intent. We know the Shard Holder was a loathsome man to begin with, and people who hate are often blinded by their own bias and ignorance; Odium is not a reliable source of information by sheer definition. I fully believe Odium might use passion as a. bridge to hatred, but Odium is not Passion in and of itself. WOB

I truly hope we get a POV of someone on Braize, and we get to see how Odium's magic works in it's natural habitat. It is possible though that Odium is a mimic-magic (corrupt what you hate), and that copying gives him an advantage in fighting other shards.

That would be an exceptionally weird Cosmology, but still possible. Still though i prefer to think there are other galaxies out there. Asking if there are galaxies would be a pretty good WOB

sibling {OB} The 3rd so called Sibling
teknopathetic replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
"Singular “they” is over 600 years old, going back into Middle English. Great writers have used it, including Chaucer, Shakespeare, Swift, Fielding, Austen, Defoe, Byron, Thackeray and Shaw. It appears in the King James Bible of 1611 and in formal prose century after century." It is good to remember that English has had a back and forth on pronouns since as long as English has been around (I mean, "you" used to be the plural form only and we had "thou" for singular"). Even with that change, English somehow survived =). Brandon's usage of "the sibling" hints that this being is a singular entity. I think The Sibling does not conform to the Alethi gender/sex binary. This may seem a bit "liberal", but remember that the Parshendi (and their ancient spren) have 4 genders. Could the Sibling simply not conform to Ashyn sex and or gender biology? (I am not sure if the Parshendi have 4 sexes or 4 genders).- 15 replies

He may have needed to be crazy as well, as a sane Leras may not have been able to ruin himself in that way.

I would love to know if there was a shard for Curiosity or Exploration. That might explain why there is a Shard that isn't invested in a sun or planet since Curiosity is headed out to another Galaxy.

I always thought it would be interesting if the Sho Del were not from our Galaxy, and that's why the Fainlife was such a problem.

I always giggle whenever somone says "gaze" in an audiobook.: "Her gaze fell upon the city" becomes "her gays fell upon the city"; it is amazing thinking of an army of gays destroying Luthadel. Another example i heard recently that made me laugh was "she yearned to keep his attention, to hold his gays".

We know that the Shards we have all cluster in the same Dwarf-ish Galaxy (this has changed a bit over time in definition). Why is this? You would think the shards would flee very far apart in order to avoid bumping into each-other. Why would the shards essentially remain neighbors? We know one shard simply wants to hide and survive,so would it flee to the end of the universe itself? Why do we see the Shards all lumped together? Possibilities 1. Convenience: This galaxy is close to the shattering and gave the vessels an easy place to settle. 2. Connection: The vessels are more connected to this galaxy, so they settled upon it. 3. Investiture: Adonalsium invested this galaxy the most, so Vessels recieve the most benefits from residing there. 4. Inability: The Vessels are unable to leave this dwarf galaxy, or leaving was seen as too risky or too time consuming. 5. Codependent: the shards need to remain in a certain proximity to one another. 6. Fear: Other galaxies have their own invested beings that would pose a threat to an exposed shard. 7. Ignorance: The shards simply didn't know what was out there, so instead they stayed where it seemed safe or interesting. 8: Priority: Perhaps there is something the Shards are trying to do in the main Galaxy (whether that be research Adonalsium, keep A's work going, Stop the Fainlife, or something else entirely) 9. The Dark Forest Theory : The Shards don't want any other galaxy realizing there is investiture in our Galaxy. If other Galaxies notice us, then we will be attacked.

Would you say you "scoured" the article looking for gem of information?

I guess you didn't do a close enough reading to see the subtle hints of a Dinger population beneath Aimia.

If Horneaters are a mix between Humand and Dingers, then could a Horneater become a fused?

My current theory is that Nohadon is a special kind of cognitive shadow, and that Dalinar is connecting with the "connection" linking all/many past bondsmiths; Honor lives on through the Unity of the Bondsmiths, and Dalinar has connected to them by becoming connected to The Way of Kings. If Nightblood were to suck up an Everstorm/Highstorm, would that be enough of a drain to cause permanent harm to a shard's mana pool?

Do the Rosharans know that their planet is round?
teknopathetic replied to Supreme King Z-arc's topic in Stormlight Archive
It would be hilarious if Roshar was in fact a flat planet and we had just been assuming Roshar was round. Cultivation was in fact a Flat Yolener, and she was forced to shatter her God or else be forced to admit her folly; Honour loved to stick his honourblade in crazy, and he helped her keep up her insane delusions to keep things bangin' in the bedroom. -
[OB] Awakening on Roshar (with Stormlight)
teknopathetic replied to Trellium's topic in Stormlight Archive
I wonder if it is possible for someone with enough knowledge and power to Soulcast stormlight into breath itself? While i know investiture doesn't like being manipulated by other investiture, and that stormlight isn't matter (its energy probably), it still should be possible somehow. -
[OB] Is it possible there's another Shard on Roshar?
teknopathetic replied to Invocation's question in Cosmere Q&A
We don't have proof that Odium has every existed on Roshar-Proper, so perhaps there was/is a third lurking around. It is possible that Odium has been on Braize the whole time, and Brandon is pulling a long-con on us. (I don't believe this, but it is possible)
