  1. I know, right? We have been giving nothing but evidence that Roshar's people are going to have to abandon the planet and make yet another pilgrimage. "We are Iriali, and part of the Long Trail, of which this is the fourth land. Eventually, all will be gathered back in- when the Seventh Land is attained- and we will once again become one"— Ym It would be interesting if Braize became the new home for some of the Roshar population, or if Ashyn was restored. Perhaps with Odium gone Cultivation could be free to reform Ashyn? But for me I would much prefer to see a refugee crisis hit Nalthis or Vax. With Nalthis being so "close", Nalthis seems the most likely. Or perhaps some flee to Nalthis but others remain with their spren. Shrug.
  2. I just think Ambition would totally of had a plan. Ambition isn't going down without a plan, and we know other shards thought the holder was "better off (dead)". We have some clues/
  3. I think that the Sibling was the only Made not turned into an Unmade. The name "Sibling" begs itself to be a red-herring.
  4. Cultivation has fueled at least one person with Caloric Investiture (Lift), so we know other shards can fuel Radiants. If Cultivation survives, but the planet does not, we may still have Surgebinders. Also, it is very likely that Surgebinding was originally fueled by Voidlight. Also also keep in mind that the Heralds didn't use Stormlight; stormlight itself is a more recent hack that started when the spren started bonding humans. Honour never intended this, but allowed the innovation. I didn't know about the Braize WOB, and admittedly that weakens my argument, but it is still possible that Odium attacks Nalthis via Braize, or the Surgebinders assault Braize as well. As for the readability thing, Warbreaker is already way more important in Stormlight than any other crossover has been, and Brandon seems to be willing to add more and more Nalthis crossovers as he goes, so to me this means Nalthis will be explained in some way.
  5. Radiants wont win. WOB that we've already seen how Stormlight will end by the end of TWoK and/or WOR. "You already know how the Storlight Archive will end". We have not seen anyone winning. What we have seen is Odium obliterating the planet. Let's assume the good guys save the day at the last minute. Is that interesting or unique? Would Brandon want to do the same old story again? Nah. This story is about refugees, land possession, and cultural diffusion. Whats the most interesting ending? The interesting ending is not the good guys save the day and the humans hug the Singers. No. Us returning to The Girl Who Looked Up is the most interesting ending. Likely Ending: Roshar is destroyed in Book 5, and Book 6 features the sentient races fleeing to another planet and living as refugees. We have seen the Alethi as dominant, and now as losing control; imagine the back 5 novels as surgebinder, people famous for ruining worlds, look for refugee rights on Nathalis. We need to see a world go down, we need to see a shard shattering, and we need to see how cultures worldhop. We will get these things. Stormlight has hinted at the world of Nalthis to non-cosmere readers. Why? So that we are okay with the idea of Roharian's fleeing there. We also have Vashar as a guide for the nobility. We also need to explain why Azure was included in the story. Sure, we get the role, but she only confuses a reader of the series (if they are not Cosmere aware). Azure and Vasher need a payoff, and seeing Nalthis would be such a payoff. Warbreaker as prequel makes a lot more sense if you assume the back books might be set there. Also, we know that the people of Roshar will eventually leave the planet. Recall how the people of the Iri believe that there will be many great migrations, and that they will need to migrate from Roshar some day? This entire series has been about transient populations. The ending, of Arc 1 ending, should reflect this. Edit: They don't need to leave to Nalthis, but they should go somewhere. Edit: Nathalis -> Nalthis
  6. I wonder if Honour and Cultivation asked for aide, or if they thought they could win the fight by themselves? Let's assume Cultivation did convince Endowment, or even Harmony, to give aide, what would that even be? Awakened Soldiers in the physical realm? Cognitive Shadows in the Cognitive realm (as we know it is possible to serve again in the Cognitive realm)? New God Spren for Bondsmiths? Spiritual realm influence? God-metals?
  7. Agreed. While I think Roshar will be destroyed (since anything else would be too close to what happened in Scadrial), I do think Odium will be taken out as well. Maybe we need to start looking for a new Bigbad for the back-half of the series. Our most obvious candidates are Autonomy (unlikely since Taldain isn't given literary form), Hoid (though unlikely since he gets his own books), or Ambition (who, while dead, has been hinted as being dangerous and who is associated with undeath magic). Cultivation would also make an interesting villain as she, finally unbridled by Honour, starts reaping the conscious races of the Cosmere in order to sew a newer, better race of beings.
  8. What do we think the purpose of Lift is for Cultivation? Personally, I think Cultivation is experimenting with fueling the Radiants herself. With Honour murderized, and the Stormfather prone to crying and feeling scared, it makes sense that Cultivation would need to see about fueling her Soldiers using a different form of investiture. This is risky buisiness because fueling Radiants will probably weaken Cultivation is some way, and who knows how much investiture she's splintered off of herself so far. ANother thing to consider is that the Stormfather seemed mighty peeved that Lift even existed, so maybe Cultivation had been held back from doing this while Honour was still kicking around? The Stormfather raged "She goes too far this time", as if this was stepping on the toes of Honour's purview. Do you think Lit is a one-off hail-marry for Cultivation, or do you think Cultivation plans to make/breed more Caloric Radiants? Should we expect and army of Chodwda Fighters, or is Lift the one and only secret weapon?
  9. Some of us wonder if Ambition may have a role in Sel. Secret History Spoilers
  10. Or innoculate the Parshmen by giving them regular spren before the Voidspren can break in? Doesn't he say the he "became the law" once he swore the 5th ideal? I thought the 5th ideal might be saying that you are upheld as the figurehead of an ideal and youre actions are seen as being "justice" or "truth" or "compassion" or whatever.
  11. Is your theory that when Honour made the heralds, Odium got to make 9 unmade out of the souls of the heralds? Or that the unmade showed up when the heralds quit, and there are 9 because Taln never quit?
  12. Nine is a number associated with Odium, so it would be odd if there were 9 Made to begin with. The Made should predate Odium (almost assuredly)
  13. I think the Made predate the Heralds (most likely), but I don't have specific proof. Are you saying there were no "made", and that the Unmade are just evil aspects of the Heralds? Like some kind of bad consequence? The name 'unmade' doesn't lend itself to your idea, but it is possible.
  14. I am so curious to know what happens if you use the blade during an Everstorm... Could it eat the whole thing considering Nightblood consumes exponentially? Maybe Szeth couldn't use Voidlight it, but what about Venli?
  15. Theory The unMade were once Made. My guess is that the 10 Made were representations of Singer Rhythms instead of representations of void-emotions. The Singers predate humanity, and spren of singer-rhythms should have existed. When, or around the same time as, the Singers jumped onto Odium's bandwagon, most of the Made were unMade. Premise: 1. Odium wouldn't want to use too much of his power in creating a splinter. Likely he used a stem. 2. The unMade were once something not of Odium, and Odium Corrupted them. 3. Likely there were 10 Made as that is the common number on Roshar. 4. Singers were on Roshar way before Cultivation, Honour, or humans. 5. There were spren on Roshar before the arrival of Honour and Cultivation (WOB at the bottom of this page) 6. Singer ideas would not manifest the same way as human emotions, though now that there is intermixing those distinction may be less clear. 7. The rhythms can be heard off of Roshar and there are other species that utilize the rhythms in the Cosmere. (WOB) Questions: 1. Though the storms predate the shattering, does the Stormfather? Does the Nightwatcher? Does the Sibling? Do the Made? 2. Were there 10 Made and the Sibling is a uncorrupted sibling to the unMade? 3.Were there 10 Made and one uncorrupted Made is still flopping around (the Iri Spren?) 4. What are the Nightwatcher and The Stormfather? Are they entirely new, or are they like a new generation of Made? Are they old Made? 5. Were the Made related to the Rhythms? If spren predate Odium's passion, and the appearance of humans. perhaps old spren are closer to things like "resolve". ---- Known Made Ashertmarn : The Heart of the Revel - Rhythm-spren of amusement? Ba-Ado-Mishram: Rhythm-spren of supplication as she is a "princess" Dai-Gonarthis: ? Moleach: ? Associated with foresight. Nergoual: Rhythm-spren of resolve or victory? Re-Shephire: Rhythm of curiosity (she is described as being curious) Sja-Anat The Taker of Secrets: Rhthm of the terrors? Yelignar Blightwind - Rhythem-spren of peace (as it consumes others with hate and instability) Chemorath:? Possible Made - We only have 9 and there should be at least a 10th. Sibling: ? Cusicesh the Protector: Rhythm of remembrance or Of the Lost? He appears at the same time each day and looks toward the origin while displaying a number of faces. Stormfather: Rhythm of winds? Nightwatcher: Rhythm of amusement? consideration? Known Old (not power) Rhythms: Remembrance excitement praise irritation annoyance reprimand supplication derision pleading Amusement joy remembrance winds victory skepticism mourning curiosity Resolve. peace satisfaction supplication tension confidence peace of the lost anxiety awe consideration the terrors ---- WOBs yulerule The parshendi didn’t have the emotions like Contempt, Ridicule [etc. before the Everstorm?] Brandon Sanderson They did have those emotions, but they didn’t match them to the Rhythms the same way. A wide variety of emotions can be matched to a rhythm. It doesn’t mean they didn’t have those emotions. yulerule So you are saying that, like Ridicule is a new version of Amusement, they could have used ridicule but say it to Amusement? [...] Brandon Sanderson Yes. yulerule And that’s a harsher form, Ridicule? Brandon Sanderson That is just how the rhythms are named. I’ll leave it to your interpretation whether they are harsher or not. A rhythm is just a beat. Whether it is harsh or not depends on the interpretation of the person listening to it. But yes, you could have ridiculed people to Amusement before. yulerule But you have new rhythms. Brandon Sanderson You have new rhythms which have a different feel to them. Thadamin Do Shards need to be based on the same planet to create the interactions that made Feruchemy possible? If the Parshendi are not originally from Odium and are referred to as the Ancient Ones by spren, then would that make the original Parshendi, bonded to the Splinters that existed before Honor and Cultivation arrived, the Dawnsingers? Brandon Sanderson RAFO.
  16. Soulcast Singers into aluminum statues, and whenever possible do so in an entirely aluminum building that functions as a prison. Whatever is resurrecting the Fused must be investiture-based, and my guess is Fused-Souls encased in aluminum will be able to go to the beyond, but wont be able to return to Braize.
  17. Odium also shows Dalinar the voice of Evi. Something interesting on Roshar is the "giving" and "taking". It isn't just Odium that talks about giving and taking pain, but also Cultivation. Cultivation genuinely thinks that she can do something with Dalinar's memories when she prunes Dalinar, but I have no idea what that might be? Cultivation clearly got something useful out of the deal... Maybe she has a garden of cognitive copies that she uses as a Cognative Army or something? We still have no idea what Cultivation does with the things she reaps during the Boon Process. Can she stick someone's sense of balance onto one of her agents? Does she have a warehouse of abilities? This could also explain the unexplained Cognative Existence of Nohadon. That dude ain't 100% dead, or at least he isnt nearly as dead as he should be. Did someone give their memories/connection of/with him away to Cultivatioin? What is going on here? Could the fact it seems like Evi's voice was real have something to do with this giving and taking of pain (both from Cultivation and Odium?). It seems like dying isn't as straight forward on this planet than it might be on others. We still have the Tranqueline Halls mythology to explain, and I doubt Ashyn is the entire answer. Another mystery is Szeth hearing the screams of his victims long after those people have died? Sure, we have a WOB saying blah blah, but why do Rosharans hear after-screams when other people around the Cosmere don't seem to? There is something here.
  18. I also got the impression that Dai-gonarthis was the UnMade of genocide; the dust refers to the empty cities and to the decomposing bodies.
  19. My issue is that he broke his oath of non-violence which may prevent him from bonding? OR that was a lie and his secret child-rank changed what he could do.
  20. I have a Reddit PM WOB that says the Terris were given Feruchemy as a gift, and that Brandon may get into how that occurred at somepoint. from mistborn sent 1 year ago It was more of a gift than an accident, but I do plan to someday dig into it more.
  21. I think we have a WOB that is technically possible to bond two spren.
  22. I don't think he is a bond smith now, but will become one later.
  23. I wonder if the Sibling went to the Horneater peeks and made that region more livable? Everything The Spren did for the Peaks sounds like what was being done in The Tower. I know we think the Sibilng retreated into The Tower, but it really makes more sense that the Sibling would retreat somewhere else in the mountains to rest and recover. The Unkalaki were at the brink of extinction due to their belligerent nature at that time. They had a leader called tana'kai, who talked to the three most powerful gods on Roshar and asked them for shelter. They were the gods of the trees (Nightwatcher?), the waters (Stormfather?) and the mountains (Sibling?) respectively. Both the god of the trees and the god of the waters refuse to give them shelter since they could not guarantee the safety of the Unkalaki. The god of the mountains (Sibling?) does not outright decline the request but tells the tana'kai that his slopes are places only for spirits and they could not sustain life. The tana'kai solves the dilemma by asking the god of the waters to place lakes on the peaks of the mountains, the mountain god to heat them with his thermal energy from the deeps of the earth and the god of the forests to bring edible plants to the now habitable areas on the mountain peaks. The gods were pleased with this solution and the Horneaters moved to the peaks.[11] Considering that Rock might have a connection to The Sibling, it would be interesting for Rock to bond the Sibling and take a non-combat role as the 2nd bondsmith. Rock's desire to bring together Bridge 4 by providing food and shelter seems veeeery Siblingy to me.
  24. I don't think the diagram has been wrong at all. I think the diagram told Mr.T to do what Mr.T needed to do. In a plan like the diagram you cant simply just say "go do this". Smart Mr.T knew that certain plans would fail, certain people would betray, and that certain goals woud be dropped. What the diagram does is give the information needed to get certain goals accomplished, but the diagram can absolutely lie about the truth or about what the diagram really wants in the end. The diagram has restored the nights radiant, assassinated everyone in power that opposed Dalinar, united the nations, ascended Dalinar, and put Taravangian in a position to learn Odium's plans and betray Odium. Odium THINKS he knows Taravangian's plans because Taravangian himself is blind to his own scheme. The diagram knows that Odium would tempt Mr.T, so the diagram was written in a way that would trick Odium and trick Mr.T himself. Mr.T has also secretly leaned that Odium cant see Renarin. If the diagram had written that down, then EVEYONE would know that Mr.T knew this secret, and Odium would likely kill the Diagramists. The diagram is a long con and not a flawed map. Example: Just when Mr.T needed it, Mr.T has an incredibly smart day again where he realized that there was a secret code inside the diagram that was meant for Mr.T IF Dalinar has survived the assassination. If? Do we really think if? Do we really think Mr.T just happened to have a very smart day and just happened to read the new code and Dalinar just happened to be alive? The diagram isn't going to tell the Diagramists the whole story. The diagram will say whatever it needs to to get its purpose complete. The diagram will get wrong the number of Veden princess in order to show people that the Diagram can be wrong, thusly showing Odium that he shouldn't fear the diagram that much, and slowly convincing the world that the diagram isn't an ultimate weapon. Then, somehow, the diagram manages to be completely relevant and correct when they discover a secret code. That's genius. That's Kelsier levels of genius. Heck, look at the number of codes and riddles within it; why would the diagram need codes and riddles if it was supposed to be used as an objective map of the future? It has codes and riddles because both Odium and Mr.T are not supposed to understand everything at once. We cant look at the diagram like it is something of Honour, but look at it more like something that cultivates, sacrifices, and reaps what it needs to. The diagram is nowhere near finished in my opinion. You haven't defeated an opponent until you know what their goal was, and we still dont know what Genius Mr.T was gunning for.
