Why haven’t the Ghostbloods wiped out the set?
Quantus replied to i’m in the details's topic in Cosmere Discussion
4. GB = Set -
Yes, I think she very much loves him, and especially throughout RoW she (and Kaladin, let's be honest) relied on Adolin's support when their own mental issues where peaking. She cares about what Adolin thinks of her a lot more than Kaladin, which makes it harder to admit to shameful things. Adolin was the one that could see the difference between the three even when Shallan lost sight of it. All that being said, do we know for certain that she is still keeping it from him, as opposed to it just happening off-stage. We know Adolin knows about Evie now, for example, even though it happened off screen. It could be just an example of characters not pooping on screen (ie. we have to assume they do and it just wasnt plot relevant at the time).

Why do humans appear normal in shadesmar ?
Quantus replied to samsocial's topic in Stormlight Archive
Naturally they look like the Flames, specifically in the Rosharan region of the Cognitive Realm. They only keep their Physical Realm form if they Magically transition it into that realm via a Perpendicularity (elscalling, shardpools, etc). Spren revert because it's their natural home realm, and the "magic" side of the equation for them is what let them manifest a Physical Realm form in the first place. Think of it another way: In Shadesmar objects are naturally a bead or flame unless they get Manifested with some extra juice (like shallan does several times). The Humans get that extra juice when they transitioned over, so their "flame" is inflated out to a whole person. Sorta kinda... -
Im not so sure, given that the Highspren still support Nale and have continuously. Assuming they even know about the Herald's betrayal of Taln at all, which I dont think is common knowledge even among the spren. I think the general assumption is that the Heralds were damaged by Honor's death, not by their own choices. The Big Bad Betrayal that seems to define spren politics is the Human's betrayal at the Recreance.
-
I think it's a fallacy to treat them as any sort of monolithic society (or any SA race really, as that seems to be a central theme). We have already seen division within just the Honorspren, and know that several other Radiant spren defied their people to Bond. Just like we now know the opinions of the Singers and even the Fused themselves can vary quite a bit.
-
TL;DR: Opportunity. They were the Chosen of Honor himself, and are still semi-divine in the sense of being at least as much Spren as human after all these years of being Cognitive Shadows. That's probably enough for some Spren to hold them in high regard (or pretend to for their own uses). But Spren are a diverse people even within the different spren races, as RoW really showed off. That particular herald being both reasonably functional and reasonably tractable probably made it a lot easier for certain spren to keep him on a pedestal. They almost certainly would not have vernerated Jezrien the same way in his final days, even though he had more direct connections to the Honorspren & Windrunners, historically.

I think you may be conflating WOBs on that. The vessel's influence is what made them associated with White and Black, but they are specifically intended to be "Complimentary Opposites"

Normally, the Breaths would escape when the person dies. If an Awakener Died and then Returned, they could recover Breaths they had stored in objects, etc. I think it's an open question on whether they Return fast enough to hold on to any normal Breaths store they may have in their own bodies.

Hypothetically speaking: Ambition + Dominion = Imperialist/Conqueror + Dominion = Fanatic + Odium = THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!

The Human bit I would default to assuming that it requires a sapient creature to possess the required minimum Investiture. That would imply that a Singer Shade would be possible, for example, should one make it to the planet. "What Generated the First Shades" will probably depend on several other lingering questions like "What is the Evil" or "What are the Deepest Ones". Im assuming it's fallout of the battle with Ambition, but other than that it could be almost anything. I personally think they are spren/seons/skaze that were created when Ambition was destroyed but not shoved in the Cognitive Realm the way D&D were later on. .

I require some assistance, please.
Quantus replied to ThroughTheLivingSequence's question in Cosmere Q&A
Not on this side of the Wizard's Curtain, No. Only Brandon and some of his inner circle have all the data. It's highly consistent and interconnected though, so as long as you dont mind revising your headcanon when a theory gets proven wrong, you can have a lot of fun filling in the gaps with theorycraft. -
The word used was "Removes" not destroys. So far every hemalurgic effect shown ends when the spike is removed, so lacking some other reason I default to assuming this operates the same and reverts when the spike is no longer plugged into the Spiritweb. And it has been a long time, but as far as I recall the spikes intersect with the spiritweb once they hit blood (kinda like shardblades) which was how they can pierce functional organs without disrupting them. And with the exception of Inquisitors that were specifically made to be fragile and need the lynchpin, Hemalurgy didnt leave big open wounds unless the subject was already dead (again consistent with shardblade's spiritual interaction).
-
At minimum you can make tattoos from carbon sources (charcoal traditionally) but by the time you've reduced the blood to char I dont know if any useful magical properties or Connection would remain.

Agreed. It's a thing in that there exist ways to get yourself stuck in a cycle as you Die (Heralds, Fusd, etc) but it is not something that is possible for the Shards or that he intended to ever feature in the Cosmere, along with actual Time Travel and a few other narrative elements he says he's specifically excluding.
-
Im curious if Hemalurgy will ever be accepted enough to use Aluminum spikes as temporary suppressors (since there's no physical damage left behind Spikes when they are removed).
-
That might depend on the nature of the contest and the cultural bent behind it. I could see them calling that a legitimately Inherited Advantage, if they are sort of glorifying the powers themselves (maybe a Praise to Harmony sort of thing?). And by era 3 good old fashioned metal detectors will likely be a thing, if they are flirting with radio in era 2.
-
There's a hint that it was in the Nightwatcher's hands at some point, since she offered it to Dalinar when he first visited her. Or I suppose she thought she could arrange it at least.
-
As far as I can tell the source for that is this WOB, which is not exactly one that inspires confidence...

This is where I land. The book can't ruin the movie for you if you haven't read it, and the movie can't really ruin the book at all. If I watch the movie first there's a strong chance I will like both, but that far less often the case if I read the novel first. Also, per THIS from the writer of the new Dune film, it will only adapt the first half of the first book. Given that, I personally would definitely wait so you're not disappointed with a perceived 1/2 of a movie.
-
It's all theory and Im not even sure I buy it myself, but I think only one half of the person is actually aligned with the Shard (intentionally crafted so) while the other side is its opposite (to some degree or another). And if we assume that taking up a shard just Inflates the Spiritweb (consistent with Slivers) instead if significantly altering it, then that dichotomy might still be in place, with one half that resonates with the Shard and another Half that very specifically does not.

We're talking post RoW, yes? 5th Option:
-
Generally speaking I think he is doing and will continue to do exactly this (even if he says he's taking his time to educate himself before wading into some waters). It's what makes his characters interesting and relatable.

Is earlier Brandon bolder and more diverse on a macro level?
Quantus replied to Oltux72's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I agree with this. Stormlight arguably has all the same depth of Plot beats, and 1:1 a lot of similar ones; it's most present in WoR I would argue, which I think hits all three of the OP's bullet points. Though Taravangian's development happened mostly later and he'd be a big part of the comparison as he's one of the more cynically defendable, if not exactly sympathetic, (since that's how he argued it himself) characters in the cosmere. But Stormlight just plain has a lot more material, characters and parallel plots, so the dark elements are more balanced (?) overall with lighter moments than in Mistborn. He's also just plain better at actual comedy than he was in his earlier books, and a well-written funny character can go a long way to lightening an otherwise pretty dark story. Bridge Four's tale of suicide, revenge, and mass slaughter would have been wildly different without Lopen and Rock (both in-world and for the readers) in the mix, or even bubbly Shallan when she's not dragging out her own darkness. -
Im kind of thinking the opposite actually, that the difference is simply a common psychological stance among the Fused that prevents it, a matter of view of the host body as separate from themselves, rather than it being a functional issue with Voidlight itself. But Im hoping as we get more of Venli and Renarin, we'll see more instances of Stormlight vs Voidlight being used.

I dont think so, purely based on the way Plate (as compared to Blades) can be Lost, Broken, and regrown with additional stormlight makes me think they made of are non-specific spren.
