  1. It's realmically possible because the Scadrian Shards did it (but it sort of sounds like it took both to pull it off?). For the most part I think a mortal could theoretically pull off most of the pieces of it, given similar examples we know of. I thought I recalled a WOB is that Investment is generally a straight scale of sentience before magic effects start to emerge, but cant find it right now, so pulling off bug might be easier than a Human, which is likely easier than a Dragon (or Crab :P). The most difficult part, or at least the part with no good example I can think of, is creating a natively Physical Realm Entity whole. You can Soulcast something that is already there, and can probably Split them off in a number of ways, but there is not true Conjuration yet, outside of Godmetals. Spren are the closest example, but they still need something to Anchor them to the Physical Realm. So I think you will need some level of Seed material in the Physical Realm, or else be a Shard and capable of making a Cheeseburger from Sunlight via E=mc^2. So you either create the Meat Machinery via Soulcasting, Dor Reality Programming, etc, Dump so much Investiture into it that it gains sustained Life and Sapience, similar to a Nightblood-style Type-IV entities (Id recommend a very straightforward and uninflected "Live" as it's Command). Or else you Create a Cognitive Intelligence (maybe like the spren themselves do) and then staple it onto a living Body). For the latter we know Hemalurgy works for that sort of thing, and can rework the Body to match the Spirit (by the Koloss example) so it might mold and settle to the spirit's form without a lot of fallout. It will be somehow easier to create life in pre-existing ways than to invent all-new Lifeforms (see below re. "Natural Pathways").
  2. Just want to jump in and say that this is freaking MAGIC and you are awesome.
  3. You can also "call" people directly from a post, usually giving them a notification (profile settings dependent I think) Example: @Elf_at_heart
  4. If they are only "Mostly Dead" then yes. If their soul has passed to the Beyond (which even Shards cannot reach) then No, but up to that point (where Healing can work, etc) they are still intact. But without some outside Investiture we're talking a matter of minutes not days. I suspect there's similar (if slower) transition to what happens to a corpse when hit with a shardblade (where the first cut treats it like a person, and the second like a pile of meat).
  5. This is the crux of it all, I think. I think it's easier to think of it as a skin-deep field effect: The person's body is not literally made heavier (requiring stronger bones etc to support it, pump the super-heavy blood, etc), rather the way the person's body Interacts with the Physical Realm around it is tweaked. It's the same issue with comic book superspeed and the age-old question of how a speedster can run faster than bullets and not be "shot" by every bug they hit: Superman is invulnerable, but the Flash needs physics to take a back-seat to The Speed Force handwave. I suspect the molecules are literally removed and "encoded" as Investiture similar to the metal Burn process. On waste it more depends on if it's storing post-digestion "Calories" or pre-digestion Food. Based only on the fact implication that it's possible but takes a different Metalmind to store Waste, at least.
  6. Soulcasting is wildly dependent on the perception of both the caster and their Spren. So I suspect the line will be a sliding one as the 2+ cultures collectively advance. But if, for example, there were a knowledgeable worldhopper with access to Soulcasting, he would likely have different boundaries but would need to bring his Spren up to speed.
  7. Ok, so what follows is mostly speculation: Division is the power Separation, of Breaking Bonds, as compared to Adhesion that creates them or some of the others that manipulate them. Generally it will break Molecular Bonds (it will not break Atomic Bonds for purely Narrative balance reasons, too OP). Decay and Combustion are both just Oxidation reactions, and the Stormlight makes it happen in those fractal cascades even if the natural reaction might not be self-sustaining). Im no chemist by any stretch but if we assume they can learn/choose to break the bonds differently, they could (for example) either Decay wood by decomposing it into various Carbon Cycle type molecules compost-style, or they could Ignite wood by more specifically strip off all the O2 creating a small/local zone of pure O2 which can ignite in the presence of basically any carbon. I suspect Division is also responsible for creating the Electric Potential Differential that is Electricity and Lightning; I think we've seen this in Stormform (assuming Forms of Power are all still Surge-based) and I suspect it's part of why the Skybreakers came to be known as such. If so they also have spark creating capability to ignite any flammable gasses that can be released from decaying the target wood (in the above example).
  8. Feruchemy is an internal thing, it affects how fast you can move your body. Abrasion (so far as we've seen) is more like a field effect around the object that prevents friction in a way reminiscent of a mag-lev train. So, going by the tropes at least, Superspeed can work well with a low-friction skating style, but without the trained skill it can trip them up and be the reason speedsters tend to have so many Ice-based antagonists.
  9. Devil's Advocate: Take that with a grain of salt because that's a case where it's given in one specific in-world language and culture. We have similar instances (such as the common "Shash" glyph on both Roshar and Nalthis) that are confirmed to be coincidence of his own naming and not any in-world connection.
  10. Great example! Based on how this WOB describes the Brass interacting with external heat transfer, I think you can indeed push thermal energy outward and heat objects the same as you can cool yourself to become a heat sink to prevent burns. However, the Catch-22 of trying to melt the object is that since Tapping/Heating yourself doesnt help against external burns, you'd start burning yourself on the hot metal long before it actually melts.
  11. I can Confirm (Confirmed by sorting the Member List). Discounting all Current/Retired staff, the Council of Elders is as follows. These most Ancient of Sharders joined prior to August of 2010 when membership began to pick up: @Ryan (Last Seen 2015) @Nerual (Last Seen 2013) @Nehex (Last Seen 2015)
  12. During the initial Assimilation, probably. Past that it depends on the Borg. Late Voyager 7of9 probably views them as foreign (havent seen her in Picard though), as would anyone just being assimilated. A properly assimilated Drone may not have enough individual Self-Image to defy the Collective hive mind, which would absolutely view the borg bits as part of the True/Perfected creature since that's their whole bag. I think that's a sci-fi equivalent to Soulcasting forcibly somebody where the Identity and self-image has been replaced. In that model Healing would have to be active during assimilation itself to really hold it back, but probably wont help once the transformation is complete. Somebody like Hugh is going to have his own personal "Scars" to reconcile, so those instances will be far more individual.
  13. Sorry, that sounded harsh, I didnt mean it that way! Dont go! I just meant that WOB's will always have that disclaimer attached to them so especially this one is a topic where you have to sort of take that bit as a given assumption and move on, at least until something happens in a book (or even later WOB) to contradict the original.
  14. No for several reasons, but the biggest is that when you use a Soulstamp to change somebody, the stamp itself has to do the job of whatever additional things it creates, and Stamps are too fragile to actually channel much Investiture. The statement is specifically relating to Allomancy, but we can extrapolate to several other powers on the same Tier. You couldnt get Surges without Investiture equivalent to a Spren, or Awakening without the equivalent to enough Breathes. Feruchemy probably has the best chance of being under the Forgery energy cap since it's powered by the user's own Investiture instead of a direct Connection to Preservation, which is why in the Above WOB it would work but not Do Anything, because you've essentially made a firehose that is connected to nothing. But then you still have to make Selish magics operate off-world, which is it's own separate challenge. Here is a more recent one if that helps. If you are going to throw out the WOB evidence entirely though, Im not sure what else we can offer you. How different worlds magics interact is almost exclusively in the realm of WOB, so that's the only data we have to work with.
  15. It doesnt destroy large objects but it does push them out of the body. The only things it straight-up won't touch (besides aluminum) are genetic disorders and things the person has incorporated into their identity (like scars or amputation that we've seen), both things that are (or have become)part of the Platonic Ideal. A poison is very much not that in all the Perceptions ways that matter to spiritual healing. How/Why would it be any different from standard cadmium? And Im sorry but I still dont see how any of that informs on the whole bands fueled by the Mists question, that's the specific link I think Im missing.
  16. Why wouldn't her metals be burning? Either she burns them as normal on a given day (planning for it safely as allomancers have since era1), or she's wielding the Bands which would likely give her the ability itself as a Medallion, and would give her the ability to Heal from the poisoning with F-Gold otherwise (since it removes Alcohol from Wayne, if nothign else). Also, fwiw short-term cadmium poisoning just looks like a cold and can clear up in a week or so, so we may not recognize it even if she did. It takes years for the more dramatic long-term effects to build up, when the kidney and bone damage sets in.
  17. Right, which WOB confirms is a known problem for mistborn/mistings with poisonous metals. (https://wob.coppermind.net/events/142/#e2598, https://wob.coppermind.net/events/4/#e5178) Im not following how that issue relates to the Bands being fueled by the Mists? It might have been an issue for her on normal days, but with the bands she could Heal it away like Wayne presumably does. Sorry if Im missing an obvious point, I feel incredibly slow today... needs me some (F)Zinc supplements or something
  18. This is the camp Im in at the moment as well. Much in the way it was Honor (and I assume Cultivation equally) that facilitated Spren procreating before Honor granted that to the Stormfather, I think it was the Shards (or in the case of Honor his current Proxy), that accepted Oaths. I dont think Odium has yet had the opportunity to accept a proper Voidbringer Oath (and Im entirely uncertain if they will have their own Words). But I do think it's something that the new management may come around to...

Hand of Harmony Him: NO! Them: Um, Um, Divine...ah...cyclops? Him: Oh for the love of the... Are you going to help at all? Marsh: Hehehehhehehehe, *sigh* Dont look at me, this is all your fault.
  20. Agreed. Im guessing it will manifest with a UnMade/Bondsmith equivalent, Sja-Anat herself being the most obvious option right now, with (in my mind) the theoretical Spren of the Everstorm being right behind her. I so strongly suspect Progression is Cultivation's Pure Surge, fwiw.
  21. I agree with the above. Elantris first would be my recommendation because that would put them in increasing quality order. But either way you wont miss anything but the most obscure easter egg style connections between the two, despite being on the same planet.
