This is going to be pretty spoilery (but I guess we are in the Cosmere Theories section anyways… and the books were published ages ago…) 1. Um… I think there's a WoB that says that Vin was special so that she could take the mists in*, but I can't find it. Though the Preservation "approval" is a good idea. 2. Based on our current understanding, I think that a Misting would just be able to super-power his one skill. A Misting is someone who has Spiritual DNA written in such a way as to allow Preservation's power to take a certain, pre-determined effect when taken into himself. When the Misting Snaps, the cracks in his Spritweb allow Preservation's power in. Ingesting the Mists gives a LOT more power than a metal will usually give. This will give a lot of power to say, Steelpushing, if the Misting is a Coinshot. However, he wouldn't be able to use the power to change his sDNA to give himself different powers. That's one of the differences between the Mists (gaseous Investiture) and Lerasium (solid Investiture). Lerasium somehow affects the Spiritual Realm, while the Mists don't. They just amp up the Physical effects of the Investiture. While I'm writing this… I was doing some editing on the Coppermind when I noticed this, and I don't want to start correcting stuff that doesn't need to be corrected. I've noticed that some people talk about a "Surge of Growth", even though technically, that's part of the "Surge of Progression". Are both of them considered Surges (one being a sub-Surge of the other), or is only Progression a Surge? There isn't a Surge of "Basic Lashing", or "Full Lashing", only Surges of Gravitation and Pressure, right?

Well, Dragonsteel is unpublished and, according to Brandon, of sub-par quality as compared to his other novels. It's currently his Master's thesis in the library at Brigham Young University. White Sand is also unpublished right now, but… It's coming out in graphic novel form within the next couple of years! I suppose that you could still e-mail Brandon to get the unpublished version, but I would wait, since Brandon doesn't consider it ready. Welcome to the 17th Shard!

Breaking the visual spectrum would require breaking light speed, which is impossible… Oh. I guess we don't care that much about science here…

Question, storing all of something with feruchemy
Curiosity replied to Fallen Rope's topic in Mistborn
Well, we have confirmation that you can't store 100% of your speed, but there's a physical limitation on that*. Ditto on weight, even though you can get really close to zero weight. However, the senses don't have any practical ramifications if you were to store 100% at a time… Interesting question! -
Only people you might get a problem with are those who believe that the dead are sacred/cherish the remains of their ancestors.

There is a WoB that says he's able to keep his "non-glorified" form because of a "tricky bit of mental gymnastics"*. It involves not seeing oneself as "glorified", I suppose, since Returned's forms are based upon how they view themselves and how others perceive them. General Comment: I wouldn't talk about this as Awakening, since inanimate objects aren't being "brought to life". I do agree that the Commands are still paramount in this technique, and that Breath is affected. I just think that the term might be a little misleading. Memories seem to be tied strongly to Identity and Intent, which are Spiritual aspects of people. These seem to be tied to Breath. But, further on memories and Intent… Sazed is able to see the history of Preservation's power, but not Adonalsium's. Maybe for another day (or thread)…

Uh… Ruin's Shardpool?

Vin (because of her extra Seeking ability?)

How would the Shadesmar-hopper survive though? Sel's Cognitive Realm… It's a dangerous place, right?* And why aren't the Seons present there, seeing as they're Splinters and all?

When Shallan finds out who killed Helaran.

Given that Pattern spies on people while they're in the bath, who knows what he'll find out… -
I would use my power to "eyeball" measurements. Don't have a measuring cup for flour? Oh well, I'll just use a couple of psionic handfuls. It's close enough to 2 ½ cups. I don't know if I can lift that barrel, but if I steelnudge… OK, it budged a little bit. I think I might be fine, but I'll get someone to help me just in case. Or maybe I just know what the measurement is. That pot is filled with 4.06L of soup at 82.3oC. My extra 0.74L of broth is at 19.7oC… It should heat up in time for dinner if I combine them now.

Eloquence is often determined by the people who hear the words, not just the person who says them. I sometimes say stuff that seems normal to me, but some people really think that it's well stated, sounds beautiful, etc. Would that be powerful? Even if I said the same things without anyone there?

By the way, does the court have a motto? In High Imperial? If not… Wasing the needing of one.

Uh… the dragon from Alcatraz? (Edit: Kobold King? I know that's a stretch…) (Is this Wheel of Time?)

I got what you were saying. I just didn't word my response well. Sorry about the misunderstanding. What I was saying is that I remember Brandon saying that Shardblades have a stronger presence in the Cognitive and Spiritual realm than in the Physical. Also, I think that Rhyshadium (that's what they're called, right) are going to be a lot more important in the future as Radiant mounts. Although, if we had chasmfiend or santhid mounts… Bonus Awesome Factor!

But their "wine" we are thinking of is made from other fruits, not grapes, according to Brandon*.
-
OK, I have no problem with the idea of Shardplate being a Physical manifestation of a Spiritweb, but I do disagree with the idea of the Radiants being a manifestation of all three Realms, at least in the way described. Brandon has said that his inspiration for the Knights Radiant came from this: that knights have three things; their sword, their armor, and their horse*. Whether the horse gives us an extra connection to the Physical Realm, I don't know. However, Even though Shardblades do have Cognitive aspects, they are equally Spiritual*. (Every asterisk is a WoB that I can't find. I would really like a fast, sorted database of quotes…)

Church of The Stick: A Call to Arms
Curiosity replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
Wait… The Cognitive essence of a stick only says, "I am a stick"? I thought that the Cognitive Realm was based on deep, unknowable thoughts. ???- 46 replies

OK, I believe that it has been confirmed that there are Spiritual Ideals in the Spiritual realm. We know almost nothing about these (there's a WoB, but I can't find it). Are certain Spiritual Ideals are strongly associated with certain Shardworlds (i.e., metal on Scadrial)? Do Shards have to filter everything they do through a Spiritual Ideal? Is that what makes up a Shard's Intent?

Favourite Obscure/Side Characters in the Cosmere
Curiosity replied to Iredomi's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Rock makes me laugh every time I read him. Same with Galladon, even though he's more than just a side character. I would like to know more about the cranky mystery that is currently known as Nazh. Yeah, he's not exactly a character that we know much about, but from what we can tell, he seems scholarly, grumpy, and slightly endearing. Plus, he's a worldhopper. Oh yes, Kazan Smedry, the short person who uses "fowl language" and gets lost all of the time. -
