  1. For me, this was more of a "Oh, I know what that is!" *giggles maniacally at the thought of Cosmere-clueless people reading this book* Really, the Cosmere was the biggest shocker of all. I thought that I noticed similarities between his worlds, like the physical, spiritual, and cognitive realms, but discounted them as attributes of Brandon's techniques for world-building. I had read everything by him at the time I found the Cosmere, so it was a lot of sparks going off.
  2. Hoid is from Yolen, where humanity was originally created (by Adonalsium), so, yes, he has Investiture from Adonalsium in him, which probably allows him to use all Shardpools. There's a thread related to this topic. Maybe Adonalsium (universal Investiture) allows him to adapt to magic systems more easily than others.

I think that "that guy" would work just as well as "Tonk Fah" because Commands are highly dependent on Cognitive aspects, that is, how the objects and actions involved in the Awakening are viewed by the Awakener. This leads me to believe that using one's native language is best for Awakening because it is most effective in evoking the right intent and view of the command, rather than using an older language or a second language, because they wouldn't bring the correct concepts to mind. This makes me wonder if a mute person could become an Awakener through writing or envisioning Commands…
  4. Ah yes! I've wondered how Feruchemy can enhance Allomancy often, but I hadn't considered other end-positive systems affecting end-neutral systems. Now how could we use an end-positive system to enhance Awakening? Hmmm…
  5. Maybe I'm opening up a can of worms here, but I think that it depends on whether the ropes see themselves Cognitively as a unit, or as individual ropes, sort of in the "something is in the time-bubble if it sees itself as in the time bubble" vein. Commanding is heavily influenced by Cognitives aspects and views.
  6. The History teacher that "fails" Joel?
  7. Snapping, I believe, is a necessary component of any magic system that directly channels raw Investiture. In Allomancy, it is taken directly from Preservation. In Surgebinding, it is Stormlight, which appears to be the raw Spiritual power of Honor, Cultivation, or a combination of both. Feruchemy doesn't involve raw Investiture, so no Snapping is required. This raises interesting questions about whether koloss (AoL era) could practice Allomancy without Hemalurgy. Do they have enough Preservation in them for that to happen? Do they have enough Ruin that Hemalurgy could be easier for them?
  8. Research all of the guilds. There are many options, more than there were a couple of weeks ago at any rate.
  9. "Hoid has had fingers chopped off on occasion. I doubt he's kept them around after the new ones grow in." (source) Well, we know that Hoid has Allomancy for sure (some sort of emotional Allomancy at least, but probably more, since it looks like he compounds gold), which he could have gotten from a part of the lerasium bead. He could have then kept the rest. We're still not sure if the amount of lerasium that you burn determines how strong of a Mistborn you are, but we do know that burning lerasium overwrites your spiritual DNA. Edit: ninja'd. You're really good at this, Weiry!
  10. Yup. You're up.
  11. Asks you if you want to die.
  12. Joel's Dad's chalk.
  13. Gak! You got it! I just really like "gak" as an exclamation. Your turn Swim.
  14. No, but it is non-Cosmere...
  15. OK, so it's pretty esoteric, but I did make a significant change to the original clue… I hope you can spot it. To keep it away, just have a bale or two with you at all times.
  16. Clarification, what I'm thinking of is something, not somewhere.
  17. Way too abstract, just letting you know. No need to be that deep.
  18. Well, after I realized that Kal was hinting in each of his posts and I saw that Soon was capitalized, it wasn't that hard. Hmmm… a hint… Wherever you can get a Philip, this isn't anywhere near it. Uh… yeah, I'll go see the Nightwatcher.
  19. TenSoon? That is, a 3rd generation Kandra with 4 spikes is TenSoon?
  20. No, it's the one from Luthadel, isn't it? It's named after Peter, right?
  21. Or mess with their Breath (if they're Nalthian)...
