Half-lash the kids to the ceiling, resulting in a zero-g environment. Seriously, what kid do you know that wouldn't like that? Parents come home and wonder why there are footprints on the ceiling.

Well, we used to use an old popcorn popper (an air-popper, not a whirly-pop), but now my dad bought himself a fancy new Coffee Roaster. It looks like a toaster oven with a mesh barrel inside it. It doesn't do darker roasts very well, which is sort of a bummer, but we can manage it by roasting in smaller batches.

Yes! This would be my Twinborn combination! The Culinary! And you can taste your inordinately large supply of waffles so well too! I'm considering applying for your sidekick position, though I don't have much in the way of wisecracking.

The idea has been bugging me for a while. "Why do we get RAFO'd on so many Shardbearers? Especially Endowment, who we seem to be unlikely to meet in Nightblood? Oh, they must be a dragon! Or humanoid spork, or whatever other sentient race was/is on Yolen."

the most useless uses for useful powers

Tap brass to convince the people that you have a fever. Get out of work/school for the day. -

When "intent" becomes an automatically capitalized word. -
Talnelat? The Herald (that we're not sure about)?

Another coffee roaster! Glad to know there are others. Welcome! Mistborn is the most "page-turning" of Brandon's novels, that is, the pace is set at a terrific rate.

Just don't get one from an Inquisitor. It might be… Oh. That joke has sort of burned out, hasn't it?

Realmatic Attributes: A Classification of Magics

Where is this WoB? This would make sense, as Roshar and Sel have Splintered Shards, but Scadrial doesn't.- 27 replies

Yes. God ought to have and does have anger towards wrongdoing. However, in Odium's case, the virtue of righteous anger is separated from any context of morality and simply directed towards everything, everyone, and anyone. This is why he wants to be the most powerful entity in the Cosmere. He wants to bring everyone down to the level that he sees them at. There is a quote from WoR

The Sanderson Tutoring Institute
Curiosity replied to Virtual Mayhem's topic in General Brandon Discussion
It would be really cool to hang out with Joel, but he wouldn't be able to teach math that well. I know that, as a person who intuitively grasps a lot of math, it's really hard to explain how understand the concepts. Sazed, on the other hand, has the potential to remember the entire Encyclopedia Britannica and share so much information. Jasnah, while possessing a great scholar's mind, would be a little bit overbearing. Hoid… Um… I would take him as a chaperone on a field trip, but not as a tutor. -
Hmmm… Sell.

I read Alcatraz a while back because it was totally ridiculous. It just kept on getting better as he kept getting stoopider. And then I got bored enough to try another one of Brandon's "thick fantasy tomes" (Elantris), and found it quite enjoyable. I read about… 500 pages per day if I'm really into something. So Elantris was gone really fast. And then, it was a few more weeks before I found the rest of his books. And then I read them over a period of a couple of months, telling myself that they wouldn't last forever… Somehow, after I finished The Way of Kings, I found this article that talked about how Galladon is "Grumpy" in in one of the Interludes. ?!?! Then I found the Coppermind, and the rest is history...

Ah. Swim, I detect a mythos building up here. Brilliant.

Upon this revelation, I will withhold my allegiance to any faction for a time. Truly, the machinations within this realm are complex and fascinating!

Butter-hating koloss? HA! They can be easily swayed to your aid by the power of bacon-burning Greasings. Being Wafflesworn, you shouldn't have any problems finding those, would you? With necessary precautions, they can amass an army of koloss to protect your kitchens against all of the above. Except for that panda. I'm not sure about it…

Can a post-Final Ascension koloss (pure koloss, no human blood) be born with Allomancy? Can a post-Final Ascension koloss burn Lerasium?

What determines access to magic systems
Curiosity replied to shawnhargreaves's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Gotcha. Thanks! -
Oh, Hrathen was definitely the meatiest character. I identified with his internal struggles and have always liked the villain's viewpoint anyways. But Galladon made me laugh. I was heartened by Raoden's optimism half the time and annoyed by him the other half. It was nice to hear my thoughts spoken by his best friend in Elantris.

Source Well, that sort of confirms it. What if the "speed limit" is different in the fields of the Spiritual/Cognitive Realms? I bet that it is. This probably allows worldhopping/Elsecalling.

What determines access to magic systems
Curiosity replied to shawnhargreaves's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Well, I think that Returning is Endowment Awakening a soul back for a distinct purpose. Endowment gives the person a Divine Breath (i.e. not their own): a Splinter which has its own Intent (the Command). This explains why the memories aren't kept, since memories seem to be tied to the Spiritual Realm. The individual Spirit is overpowered by the Intent of the Divine Breath, so the memories are vague at best until they align with the Breath's/Endowment's Intent. PorrigeBrick, could you clarify what you mean? Who is Snapping whom in this case? And who is left vulnerable? It seems like you're talking about one person. I'm sure it makes sense. I'm just not getting it. Edit: Grammar/clarification.
