Are Seons an example of this? Edit: Skaze too?

It seems like aluminum (used allomantically) is anti-Investiture. Not innate Investiture, but rather foreign Investiture. I remember reading a WoB somewhere that an aluminum savant (however that might occur) might be able to remove any or all forms of foreign Investiture from their body. This might not be very relevant, but it might shed light on what exactly aluminum's properties are. If aluminum-foil hats prevent Soothing and Rioting (external mental metals) and aluminum objects are invulnerable to pushing and pulling (external physical metals), then maybe aluminum can somehow prevent-time bubbles (external temporal metals)?

Ah. Thank you for correcting my misunderstanding. I would think that the amount of Breath needed to awaken the spike would make it extremely hard not to corrupt any sDNA stolen.

Steelheart - Calamity seems much like a 'shard' to me
Curiosity replied to Mikanium's topic in The Reckoners
But wouldn't the Shard Calamity have too similar of an intent to Ruin? Also, Calamity is the human name for a red dot in the sky… Not the name for whatever it calls itself. -
Can normal people even be turned into these re-forming chalklings? I postulate that the ones who become chalklings are only Rithmatists. When the servants were attacked at Senator Calloway's house, why weren't they absorbed into the chalkling horde? It seems as if the Shadowblazes which bond with Rithmatists are really the fuel for these crazy chalklings. Edit: Why I didn't see these things above in the thread, I don't know. Sorry for repeating.

Remember that Kaise is still pretty young, so she can absorb language much better than a 40-year-old could. She's had the opportunity to learn languages and has, to some degree, been encouraged by her parents. At this point, I think that Kaise can absorb knowledge faster than the average child, which points to some degree of intelligence, but she's still has that natural advantage of a child, that is, being able to memorize things at a faster rate. However, as has been mentioned beforehand, intelligence takes many forms and types, so this doesn't necessarily mean that Kaise is an absolute genius.

Is the term Spirit-web the word we should be using for "spiritual DNA"?

Would a non-Nalthian person appear as to be a Drab to Nalthian? Or would they appear to have a weaker Breath? Or would they appear to have a full breath? Would a Nalthian with a lot of Breath (say, 50 or so) be able to tell that the non-Nalthian is different?

Doesn't a splinter need a mind to control it in order to have sentient sapience? A Splinter has power (Physical) and intent (Spiritual, I think). It needs a Cognitive aspect. I doubt that a mind would just pop into existence to control it.

The biggest principle at play here is the fact that different types of Investiture from different Shards do not interact easily. One cannot Soulcast Preservation Investiture, since Soulcasting requires Honor/Cultivation Investiture. The interaction is impossible. It would be like trying to Soulcast Stormlight or Breath. Edit: Soulcasting copper or zinc has nothing to do with creating Investiture. This is because these metals don't have any power within themselves. "Normal" Allomantic metals are simply catalysts to bring the Investiture of Preservation to fuel certain pre-determined powers ("hard-written into the user's Spirit-Web"). I don't think that I got that quotation verbatim, but it illustrates the point. I remember it from "On the Three Metallic Arts".

What's YOUR Talent?
Curiosity replied to Silus - Shard of Flame's topic in Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians
Yes, this is the Talent of being ignorable. Great for infiltrating libraries! I've been waiting to see this one in a book for a long time. -
Going with Swimmingly's idea of "trump-card" metal, I think that the Atium-Lerasium alloy (call it Sazium or Sazedium or Harmonium, whatever) would work as a universal metal-mind that anyone could use to store any of the Feruchemical powers. Whether you could store strength and speed in the same metal mind… It seems unlikely.

Being new to the 17th Shard, I'm unsure of what the protocol is. Should I start a new thread for the theory?

@Swimmingly: Also, tLR was probably a Soothing savant as well as a full, undiluted Mistborn. He had enough time to become one more than a few times over.

About how the Koloss became a true-breeding race… I have my own theory. Brandon has said that it would be theoretically possible to create sentient life with excess Ruin in place of excess Preservation. This makes me wonder if Sazed took some of Ruin's power and invested it in the Koloss to make them a little more sentient. This could have removed the imbalance between the two Shards' power, though that would mean that there wouldn't be any more atium…

Somewhat unrelated, but if Rithmatists have a special bond with a Shadowblaze, sort of like the Forgotten with Harding, then those chalklings might be Shadowblazes which are bent out of shape or something. Driven mad maybe. But they can't be destroyed by acid because of their human "host" which is trapped inside of the chalkling.

the most useless uses for useful powers
Curiosity replied to king of nowhere's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Burn pewter to fall down staircases without breaking bones. Steal the ability to take naps at will from my cat using Hemalurgy. -
Isn't atium already able to steal any of a person's spiritual properties? What would the point be of giving the spike the Command?
