  1. For liking history and English.
  2. I feel like there's a lot of real life potential for me emulating spook all of a sudden.
  3. So I'm subbing at work for one of the other lifeguards, which means I get bonus pay, and for the past two hours there hasn't been a single person in the pool area. So I've been getting sub pay to catch up on my reading basically. I love my job.
  4. Well the crossover is over! Spoilers galore below
  5. Have you tried the FF games they've released on steam? I've only played ff7, and thought it was decent, if outdated, so I can't say anything about the later games. But I believe something like the first nine or ten games are on steam in some edition or another.
  6. Guns and Ships My shot tie between Aaron Bur Sir, and the cabinet battles, although all of King George's are great.
  7. Wait, so are we saying that Bavadin might be like the missionaria protectiva of the bene gesserit of Dune? Cause that sounds awesome.
  8. There's no set rules, just fashion trends. Mine is just the first and most concrete half of my username.
  9. There's a WoB that says that the gender of the Spren is sorta related to the gender identity and sexual orientation of the Knight, but for the most part there aren't deep meanings and doesn't imply a ton.
  10. Ewww, you gotta be storming kidding me :/ I can't imagine it getting an actually good sequel.
  11. So I'm almost a hundred pages into Osman's Dream, the history of the Ottoman Empire I was talking about. It's actually quite good, but I feel like my knowledge of medieval European states is completely insufficient. So far the maps haven't been terribly helpful either as they tend to be very general, and the text very specific, so I can't match them together very well. Its pretty readable for a history book, and very very interesting.
  12. Or is this just Fantasy
  13. They've been phased in for the past eighteen months or so so that they're much more common now.
  14. I watched the first six episodes of a new Netflix original Paranoid, yesterday. It's absolutely fantastic, reminds me of Michael Creighton's thrillers.
  15. I'm pretty certain Rob spoiled it first mate. You can't get reborn without dying.
  16. So I went to see it last night, and I figure it should get its own topic. I really enjoyed Eddie Raydmayne's performance, he was perfect and adorable. Collin Farrel's Graves was excellent, very intimidating and ruthless performance. I was excited to see Ezra Miller in a movie before I see him in Justice League and Flash. His character didn't exactly give him a lot of room, but he did a good job with what he was written with. Nifflers!!!!! Merlin's Beard they're even more adorable than I'd imagined. Okay, so the movie itself, how was that? There were probably too many subplots going on in the first half of the movie. It's really hard to keep track of the three/four main good guys, and the orphanage, and Graves, and the Beasts. They did all get pulled together pretty well, but they never felt completely cohesive. I'm still not sure what the main plot for the movie was.Was it Graves' scheming, or Newt and his Beasts? I have two other main peeves. The ending was totally a deus ex machina, and not even one that completely made sense. The second is that I had kind of hoped wizard institutions would make more sense in the extended Potterverse, but now they're even worse! Overall, good movie. It's not perfectly put together, but the actors are great and the effects are pretty good.
  17. Finished Modesitt's new book, Imager Portfolio number ten, book two of a bridging trilogy. This trilogy has been weaker than both the original trilogy and the prequel series, but I think this book was stronger than the first. Re-listening to Hogfather by Terry Pratchett since it's around the right time of year. I have four books that I really need to get around to, a history book, biography of Frank Herbert, Chapterhouse Dune, and Armour by John Steakly. I might end up getting sidetracked( again) and read a book by Mitchner or try out a short collection of Edgar Allen Poe.
  18. This week's reviews: Flash Arrow Legends So I'm quitting on Gotham again. The last episode I watched legit felt like a Fan-fiction, and not a good one. If I hear that the season get's better I might return, but not right now.
  19. Around Bands of Mourning's release team Sanderson officially started calling the Wax and Wayne books era 2. Previously they'd used 1.5 or Wax and Wayne adventures, but the current canon is era 2.
  20. That stinks :/ I think it was just a cliffhanger twist that was written ambiguously just for fan theories to last till next week. I won't spoil anymore for you, but...idk, I didn't think it was a huge deal unless taken out of context like you got it.
  21. Weekly Review Time! Arrow: Legends: I haven't caught up with Gotham, but I think the Hatter storyline is supposed to Finally wrap up, so that'll be good.
  22. So I went to see it last night. WOW I guess I've got an idea of what taking acid is like Holy cow. Those were some great visuals. This is probably my favorite MCU movie. Probably because it's tone is much darker, while still keeping the classic marvel humor. Benedict Cumberbatch was fantastic as always. I did actually like the ancient one, although I do have to agree with the internet, there was no need to change the character to be Celtic. As an origin story, it was better than most. I don't want to spoil anything, but I do hope that maybe the ending means that in Strange 2 the MCU will finally have a compelling villain aside from Loki. The only Dr. Strange material I've consumed prior to this movie was an animated movie that was on netflix last year that was pretty great. So compared to that film, it felt true to what Dr. Strange is supposed to be. I'm not really sad that it didn't tie in too strongly to the MCU since it looks like Strange will be in Ragnarok( and I personally wouldn't be surprised if he made a tiny cameo in Guardians). The rest of the MCU is very Earth based, and I think it would be hard to tie Strange to the other films without also loosing some of it's cosmic qualities. This isn't something that normally bothers me, but as I was watching it...It does feel really odd that they made another movie with a white lead, changed an asian character to a celtic one, and there's another black sidekick. I really hope the Black Panther movie helps to balance it out, because I normally DON'T care about this but at this point it even feels off to me.
  23. Nope!! Definitely not. If you want fantasy go with the Imager Portfolio or maybe the Corean chronicles. He's got some decent hard science fiction too.
  24. I finished a biography about Putin, it was good and focused on his reign which is what I'm most interested in anyway. So I'm actually going to take a break before reading another history or biography and am gonna try and get through LE Modesitt's new Imager book real quick. I started it last night, and it looks like more of the same really, without the more compelling protagonist from the first trilogy and the continental scale of the prequel series. I've also been reading a bunch of Neww 52 batman comic collections, and some have been very good. They're much better imo than the Flash ones I read anyway. Sometime soon I'm planning on reading Chapterhouse Dune, but I'm not sure when.
