  1. Not to mention those voices are everything that is wrong with what is happening, yet they both sound so friendly.
  2. The background music for Oh, Mummy!
  3. "This?" The ancient midget lifted his beard in one hand. "This is a real beardmark, yes. It's taken me decades to grow it to this length. A razor has never touched my chin," he said proudly. "Wasing the way of the wanting," the bearded dwarf replied in his wavering voice. He then settled in to continue his umpteenth reread of the giant tome that was Way of Kings.
  4. Because Wonko wasn't the one that selected someone for death. Wilson suggested Feligon. Wonko agreed in principle to lynch an inactive/lurker. Dowanx named Feligon, and got the bandwagon rolling. Edit: Went back and reminded myself of the post I voted for Dow in. As I said in that post, there were a number of people that said in the sign up thread that they were going to be away for the weekend. As well as the above reason, Dowanx was the one that suggested we lynched inactives/lurkers from day one. Knowing some of them were away, this doesn't really strike me as fair play. Edit 2: I'm Spartacus too! Wait, no, I'm Brian!!! And so's my wife!!! No, still not right. Oh, yeah. Not a convert.
  5. Lightsworn Panda makes a good point about Dowanx. Didn't something like half a dozen people say they would like to play, but would be away this weekend, and so would not be about until Tuesday (today)? So, Dowanx can have my vote for the time being. This may be changed later, depending on if we get much new information. I could have been tempted to vote for Wonko, but the way he said he was voting (letting someone else choose who), kinda makes me think he is innocent.
  6. In one of the many corners of the icosikaiheptagon that made up the Knights Awkward hallway, a massive tome collapsed to the floor with an almighty thunk, sending waves of dust rippling out and causing people to cry out "Shshshsh, we're trying to read." When the dust settled, there was a tiny figure. Apparently, he was trying to extract his beard from the pages of the book, but after a few minutes, it became clearer that his beard was actually used as his bookmark. The book finally fell open, and his beard hung free. The wizened old midget with the crazy white hair and incomprehensibly long beard sat down and started reading.
  7. I'm tempted to vote for Clanky, as his vote for Haelbarde seems a little farfetched. I've yet to be a bad guy, but have also been known to post comments like that, especially if I voted for the lynched (I know, he was murdered, not lynched, but the same principle applies). Also tempted to vote for Mckeedee, as he didn't answer my question from last night's cycle, about whether or not he cast a secret vote for Feligon in the first day cycle (while Mckeedee still had his original role). Besides these two, I've not really formed any suspicions yet, and yes, I know the two I've mentioned here aren't exactly the most damning of suspicions, which is why I'm not placing a vote just yet. I'll keep reading the thread, and place a vote towards the end of the cycle.
  8. Also, Legends of Tomorrow starts in 2016. Over the past week I've watched the final episodes in the current seasons of Arrow, Flash, and Agents of SHIELD. Arrow ended nicely, and I hope they are not going to do a Babylon Five, and renew a properly finished series for another season just because it is popular. That's a great way to kill good sci fi (Babylon Five, Stargate SG-1, for example). Out of all of these though, I am most looking forward to the new season of Flash. Also, since I have now ran out of things to watch, I took up a friend's recommendation, and have started watching Once Upon a Time. Fairy tale characters, with their memories wiped, dropped into small town America. I was dubious for the first few episodes, but having binge watched the entire first season over the weekend, I have to say it's proving to be pretty damned good. Add Robert Carlisle as Rumplestiltskin, and you have a recipe for awesome.
  9. For the Lone Wolf fans out there, I've just discovered Project Aon. If you've not heard of it before, go take a look. All of the Lone Wolf books are available to download, with the author's permission. The link is in English, but if you go to Google and search 'Project Aon', there are a couple of different languages to choose from.
  10. Borter Clams watched in bewilderment as the guards took away a man for execution, only to bring him back and take another one in his place. He was feeling way out of his depth here. He was a fisherman, not some detective. He just hoped the cultists didn't come for him, and that he got out of this alive. As everyone was starting to settle down for the night, some retiring to their rooms, others for late night drinks with friends, well, marginally trusted, at least, Borter made a pact. If he lived through this, he was going to return to his home village, and never leave it again. The outside world was just too dangerous. Unlucky that we lost a Keeper so early, although it does mean one less secret vote, which I think is a good thing. I do wonder though, as Mckeedee was the one in that role last cycle, did he use his secret vote on Feligon? With his role change, is he even allowed to tell us? Speculation on my part, but if I were Mckeedee last night, then I would have voted for Feligon, as he was the only one that stood a chance of being lynched in his place.
  11. I'm back, and have caught up on the thread, but I'm too tired to come to any deep conclusions from what was said. I'm tempted to go for a pointless poke vote on Wilson because I think she is sounding a little pro-Gyorn there, but that's just impending sleep talking. So, no vote from me. Sorry if any debtors die. Good night all
  12. I was just reading this, trying to see if anyone who had already posted seemed suspicious, but have come to no conclusions yet, so I'll not be voting. I'm off out now, but if I can, I'll try to get back before the cycle ends and see if I can get a vote in. It may just be a poke vote but we do need to start somewhere.
  13. Borter Clams ignored the snobs around him. All of them were twisting their faces at the fishy smell that lingered about him, but that wasn't his fault. His father was a fisherman, hence the name 'Clams', and so had he been until he left his home to seek his fortune in the capital. He had washed, but it took a while to get the stench of his former profession out of his skin. He watched, stunned, by the sudden death of the Patriarch. Cultists? Here in Kae? Unbelieveable. He looked around at the other guests and saw shocked confusion on their faces too. Perhaps he should see what he could do to help. New to the city, gaining a bit of gratitude couldn't hurt.
  14. Dive in and prepare to die would be good advice for Sanderson Elimination. That's what I did, and I've had fun with it.
  15. I'd recommend Elantris, followed by WoR. As Quiver suggested, leave off reading Mistborn until the end of the year, when we're expecting Bands of Mourning to be released. Then you can do the first trilogy, and the Wax/Wayne trilogy all together.
  16. Elhokar at Lopen's mother's house.
  17. The door slammed open, to many whispered cries of "Shshshshsh!" In shuffled a... book? It was a huge tome, covered in dust, but bearing an image of a spear wielding Radiant on the front. As the book shuffled towards Mistrunner's throne (comfortable reading chair), it became more obvious that there were stubby little fingers holding onto the book. When it stopped in front of Mistrunner, the book lowered itself to the floor, and a pair of thick, heavy, spectacles appeared from behind it, attached to a small head sprouting mad white hair in many directions. The head disappeared behind the book, and an arm came our from behind the left side, disappearing again as the head reappeared. Did whatever that was just bow? It was impossible to tell when he was behind the book. A wavering voice spoke from behind the book. "I am Bortholemew the Blind, and I am here to join the Knights Awkward, if you will have me. I am a Forumlurker, and I have spoken the first two oaths. Books before friends. 17th Shard before the real world. Release dates before birthdays. I will read that which has not been read."
  18. "Excuse me, Sir." The voice was deep, and slightly higher than Borter Clams' ears. Turning, the youth from a fishing village up the coast saw a city guard holding a hand up to stop him. "What is it officer?" Borter asked politely. The guard was considerably larger than Borter, and while the youngster was quite capable when wielding a filleting knife, he wasn't going to argue with someone much larger than himself, wearing metal armour and carrying a spear, dagger, and a sword. Why did he need so many weapons? Borter wondered as the guard drew close. He handed Borter a piece of fine paper and said, "Patriarch Seinalan is making an announcement at the palace later today, and as the 25th person to enter the city through this gate in this hour, you are hereby invited to attend the speech. Present this invitation at the palace gates between 1pm and 2pm, and you will be admitted. Good day, citizen." The guard turned and walked away, his nose slightly wrinkled. The youth had stank of fish, but he had done his duty, and sometimes, the rich denizens of the palace deserved to have their noses rubbed in some good, honest labour stench every now and then. Borter couldn't believe his luck. His first day in Arelon, and he was already invited to the palace. This was a great way to start him seeking his fortune.
  19. I'm in for the Knights Awkward too. "I will read all Sanderson, even the non-Cosmere stuff."
  20. This is the best kind of nickname, when not even you know how it came to be.
  21. I want to know more about the yaks. Do they have wax lips, and if not, why not? Removal of their wax lips counts as animal cruelty, I'll have you know.
