I have no ulterior motive other than protection of identity. Or did you not see my comments about why I didn't mention the Duke's vote yesterday, and why I wasn't going to reveal anything about it today? I've been in a few games now, and every one has had some kind of conversation like this. "Why don't we discuss who has what role?" "Because that makes them targets." Now, because I'm taking the defensive side to that argument, I must be a Cultist? Gotta love this game, where saying one thing can have so many meanings.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Bort replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
You know you're a Sanderfan when during a lightning storm, you watch out of your window, in the hopes of seeing Kaladin fly past, or maybe the Stormfather. You know you're a Sanderfan when you think those little dancing specks in front of your eyes might just be windspren. -
We should charge for room and board in this SE thread. The number of 'Guests' coming through is ludicrous.

Don't worry Hael. I wasn't suggesting you ousted either of them. Wonko inadvertently outed Wilson, and Mailliw deliberately revealed Kipper's role. I don't know for definite if both are correct, but I think it would probably be safest for us not to reveal other roles in the thread. I was actually trying to do the same thing as you - work out who has what role, but privately. If I had a Seon, I'd PM you and we could try to work this out together, but I don't. As far as your contributions go, granted, you've not been the most active member of the game, but you've not been inactive, and your posts have usually contributed to whatever discussion was ongoing, or like your posts in this cycle, have been fairly analytical (and for me, that's one of the signs of a dangerous player).

I was deliberately unclear on if the Duke's vote was being used or not, because if I came out and said who I was going to get them to vote for (or even if I was definitely using their vote), then it would be possible for the Cultists to use that info to work out who they are. As it turns out, yes, I did use the Duke vote - They stole my vote last cycle, so it only seemed fair. In the interests of protecting their identity though, I'm not saying who they voted for. Only myself and Duke know that, and I'm planning on keeping it that way. Edit: Haelbarde, I'm a little concerned about you openly discussing who could have what role. Unguarded comments over the past cycle have already ousted Wilson as Queen (and Kipper as Keeper, although that was more deliberately announced than "leaked"). Do we really want the world to know who holds the other important Villager roles? The clarifications you have requested, along with your information gathering, suggests an ulterior motive for gathering all of this data, and only the Cultists and Gyorn would need that info. Which are you?

It's all a matter of trust. And that was the problem. Borter Clams was new to the city, and the vast majority of the people he was associating with were well above his social standing, so he knew no-one here. There were a few, more vocal, voices that sounded like they were talking sense, until they decided to point the finger in Borter's direction. Shocked to the core, Borter nevertheless managed to stammer out a defense of his character. Still confused as to what he could offer the Jeskeri cult apart from fish for their dinners, he mutely listened as conversation continued. Now the finger was pointing elsewhere. Had he saved his skin? He certainly hoped so. Eventually, after a few suspicions were cast about, people seemed to settle on Hene Bata, or Maisao. While Borter's suspicions lay elsewhere, he did have to wonder about the pair of them. Besides, he wanted his vote to count for something, so he chose to lay aside his feelings on Dowanx for now. Maybe some new evidence would turn up later. He considered the pair in front of him. Out of the two, he felt Maisao had contributed the most so, decision made, he went to find the Palace Steward to register his vote. Honey Badger. Since the posts in the night cycle, I've been rethinking my suspicions. I'm still not convinced on Dowanx, but I'd rather not poke him with a useless, single vote. Yes, I know I could use the Duke vote too, but myself and a single other person as the only ones voting for Dow? No, not obvious at all, and I feel I should make at least some effort to protect their identity. So, my vote today is going towards the person I think has contributed the least out of those offered. I don't really have suspicions on either of them, but I'm less convinced by Honey Badger's posts, so he gets my vote. I also thought about poke voting an inactive to try to get them posting, but this late in the cycle, and knowing I couldn't change the vote at the last minute, it would make me a bit of a hypocrite after I argued against such behaviour during the night cycle.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Bort replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I did this with a Stephen King book - Eyes of the Dragon. I bought it in English when I was about 15, then the following year went on holiday to Germany, where I found it in German, in the airport. -
For the first time in many, many years, the midget stood up and walked away from his book. Trailing his beard along the floor behind him, he crossed to where the delivery guy had just vanished. Looking at the other Knights Awkward, he asked in his wavering voice, "Did everyone else hear that? Elantris, 25th anniversary edition. We need to create a trap in case he comes back."

Nice post Wilson. Sorry I didn't get to it last night, but by the time I read it, I was already on my way to bed, and too tired to reply properly. I wasn't releasing any additional information when I said I had been 'Duked'. It was fairly obvious to anyone that looked over the thread and vote tally that my vote had been shifted, and being Duked was the only way for that to happen. My coming out and saying it in a thread doesn't make it more obvious, it just means people don't have to worry about connecting the dots and working it out for themselves. ******** I've been back and reread your post on lurking/inactives, and yes, I agree with you. My problem was more one of definition. Simply put, I didn't want to be taken for a lurker just because I have a window open with this thread in it. As the main point between lurking and not lurking is posting, it seems I'm safe from that. I still disagree with poke voting lurkers late in a cycle, because we will get a repeat of what happened with Spencer. They may reply, but there won't be enough time for people to change their votes away from the poked. I know, Spencer was considered inactive rather than lurking, but the principle is the same. If someone bandwagons your poke vote, the person being poked may not get the chance to reply before they are lynched. Poke voting lurkers early in a cycle though, that is a good way to at least try to get them talking. ******** Finally, about your suspicions of me... 1. Yes, I'm in Europe, and if your suspicions about the Cultist Prince is correct, then yes, I may well share a time zone with them. That doesn't mean I am them though. The reason I brought up my time zone is because for the past two voting cycles, I've gone to bed and woke up to a completely different result. It is both confusing and frustrating, especially after the cycle thread has been merged with the main thread. Yeah, I can go and catch up, and I do, but I either have to do this at work (both time consuming and frowned upon if I'm spotted), or go a large chunk of a night cycle without understanding what the hell happened to the vote the previous cycle (assuming 24 hour night cycles which we were supposed to have). It could also be that the Prince is actually in the US like, I imagine, most of our players, but was off out or something, and wasn't able to get back until after the end of the cycle, so placed his vote early. 2. Misrepresenting, maybe. Intentionally, no. As I mentioned above, it was more a problem with definition as I believed that I fell into the lurker category and didn't want to be lynched for just keeping an eye on the thread. I probably could have saved myself a lot of bother if I'd read your post properly the first time. 3. I think this one is just you. I've used language like that in other games I've played, as have other players, and have never received suspicion for it. Or, if there was suspicion, it wasn't mentioned and, I assume, not acted upon. Certainly, I've seen others saying things like 'Us villagers' and 'protect our village', and never thought anything of it. 4. It may be my fairly limited experience playing SE, but I don't see the harm in discussing how the Gyorn may proceed. I have no idea what this 'deadly strategy' Kas has come up with for the Gyorn, but I don't see how it could be so bad. The Gyorn objective is to convert everyone, and no matter how they proceed, that's going to take time. Talking about what options the Gyorn has won't change that - they still need time to convert everyone, and they are limited to one or two per night - but it may give the rest of us a clue as to figuring out who they might be. I hope this alleviates your suspicions, even a little. If you have any other concerns, feel free to share them, and I'll answer as best I can. The bit I didn't get about the day one lynch is that there had been conversation. Opposite views, led by Mek and Orlok. Then, all of a sudden, all that conversation had, apparently, been thrown out of the window, and someone else had been pushed to the front and accumulated enough votes for the lynch, seemingly for no reason. As for people saying 'But because the GMs made a mistake, it is alright,' no, it isn't. If the GMs hadn't made that error, then Feligon would have been lynched for no good reason (as it happens, he was lynched for no good reason, it's just Mek's character that died instead of Fel's own). I come back to one of my comments to Wilson. Poke voting lurkers/inactives is fine at the start of a cycle, but at the end? So they can be lynched before they can reply? Or worse yet, they reply, but because it is late in a cycle, not enough people see, and they die anyways. This is my biggest problem with the day one lynch and the day two lynch. The day two lynch we saw what happens with Spencer. It could have happened to Feligon too (although it does actually look like he was inactive, so that one isn't so bad). Perception, my dear Meta. I perceived myself as a lurker, when I wasn't really, so yeah, I represented them. Rereading Wilson's posts on the subject has clarified the definition of lurker for me though, so this shouldn't be so bad in the future. It's not that I'm looking at the result rather than the motivation. I just don't understand the motivation to lynch someone without really giving them a chance to reply and defend themselves, which is what happened to Feligon, and even though he did reply, it is what happened to Spencer too.

You are probably right, Kas. I have no doubt I am underestimating some of the players here. There are several I've never played with before (including yourself), and even those that I have been in other games with, I doubt I know the full extent of their abilities. Certainly in the last game, I wasn't expecting Gamma to screw over his team, just because it would be fun. So, yeah, I don't know these players as well as I might, or as well as others will. It may also be that I've not yet played a game on the Dark Side, and I even think this is my first game with a Gyorn-like system involved, so yeah, I probably am missing a lot. At the same time though, without discussion about these things, I'm not likely to learn a lot either. Observation only goes so far. Edit: Speaking of Seon safety, did you know that one of the original inventors of the condom was named Seon? Linky

Do we get to throw rotten fruit too? Kasimir, I can understand why you wouldn't want us regular citizens to strategise for the Gyorn, but without any kind of discussion on him, his targets (actual and potential), how do you expect us to find him? It doesn't really matter who the Gyorn converts, he still has to get everyone converted in order to win the game, so what does it matter if we talk about how he might go about it? It may give him (or her. Not being sexist here ) an idea or two, but the workload is the same. Edit: Sorry for double post. Not sure how to edit a quote into a post.

First day lynches I can understand, and we had that with the Mek/Orlok vote (with no knowledge that both were definitely friendly). It is when someone comes along in the final moments of a cycle and with a few prompts, they manage to change everything. Result? Feligon and Spencer were both killed with minimal discussion about them. Whether you're right or not about it throwing the Cultists off their game, I'm sure I wasn't the only one who woke up to a completely different result than they were expecting, for no other reason than someone apparently wanted to mess with the vote. Now it has happened a second time. Both times Dowanx was involved, and both times a citizen has died. I don't know for definite he is a Cultist, but I do think it looks dodgy. Lurkers, while annoying, true, can be forgiven I think. Some of them are probably like me. When I get to work in the morning, or home in the evening, This thread is one of the first I open on my PC, and I leave it open to keep coming back to, no matter what else I'm using my computer for. It is only when they are repeatedly seen in the thread, but still don't post that I get suspicious, but I don't think I've seen anyone like that so far this game. Not that I've noticed anyways. As for inactives, lynching those is a bad idea anyways. Sure, they don't contribute to votes or discussion, but they are all bodies that both the Cultists and the Converts have to get through. Killing them only speeds things up for the bad guys. Surely it would be better to not kill them, let a pinch hitter take over, and give us someone new to work with? Yeah, we may get a Cultist replaced if one was inactive, but I think, given the numbers, that is pretty unlikely, and we'll most likely end up with a new ally who will, hopefully, be more active than the person they replaced.

It is from a chapter published on Brandon's website. I believe it was said to be from Stormlight Archives book three. Would Nan Balat's crab count as an inanimate object, since he pulled all its legs off so it can't move?
-
Eragon wasn't all bad. It wasn't great either, but it wasn't all bad. If you want something good to read, may I suggest the Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb?
-
Not really. To be honest, I have trouble remembering who wrote which episode, so couldn't tell you if I like Moffat or not. The only one I really remember is the Neil Gaiman one I listed as my favourite episode of all time. I'll possibly agree with you on the Christmas episode, mostly for the Policewoman and Roman Centurion on the bridge of the starship. That was just funny. Can you not get access to iPlayer in the US? It's the BBC "On Demand" viewer, and has Dr Who episodes usually within half an hour or so of them being broadcast.
-
I got Duked! And someone shifted my vote onto someone I believe is inactive, instead of leaving it where I have my suspicions. I wish you guys would stop with the last minute bandwagons. I'm in the UK here, so I'm in bed four hours before the end of a cycle. Both day cycles we've had this game, when I've gone to bed the board has looked one way, and when I wake up, something completely random has happened. I'm doubly suspicious of these bandwagons as they have done nothing apart from kill innocents. Honestly, this just makes me even more suspicious of Dowanx. First, he advocates for the deaths of the inactives/lurkers. Then, thanks to his decision to support Wilson's vote on Feligon (I believe it was Wilson), a bandwagon starts, resulting in the (rather complicated) death of a Keeper. I'll not complain about the loss of a secret vote, although it is a shame to lose an innocent. After that, the day two votes. I place a vote on Dow, fairly early on because I'm dubious about him, then when we see the write up, not only is another innocent dead, but also another inactive (judging from his lack of posts in the threads). This was someone who Dowanx voted for, and I find my vote has been shifted off Dowanx, and onto Spencer. Highly dubious. The question is though, is someone framing Dowanx, and making him look guilty, or is he? Edit: So, it seems Spencer did make an appearance last night, but it wasn't enough to save him. Still, for the vast majority of the cycle, he did appear to be inactive, so I can see why the votes swung his way. I think lynching inactives is a bad plan. They are the reason we've got pinch hitters waiting on the sidelines. Rather than kill inactives, we should just leave them so a different, active, player can take over.

Don't be silly Hael. Of course you can't trust him. What did he just say? Don't trust anyone! I think though, I've worked out why the Cultists didn't kill one of the more experienced players first. Fear. They kill one of them (Kas, or Wilson, Meta, Claincy, whoever) and the rest go on some crazy slaughter-fest, leaving the SE forum a tattered, bloody mess.

Bort replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Wait until you reach the episode 'Stick'. (No, I'm not joking. There really is a Daredevil episode called Stick). You know you're a Sanderfan when you go into KFC, spot the burritos on the menu, then ask for Chicken Chouta (and worse, look confused when the girl behind the counter asks 'What?') -
I wouldn't worry too much about it Hael. The more experienced players worry everyone, including each other.

I can almost see the Stormfather now... "Lastclap that, Dalinar."
-
Favourite Doctor: Matt Smith, although Peter Capaldi has had some excellent lines, and his character being deliberately 'unlikable' was a decision he made before he started filming. Apparently, the next season will see Capaldi chill out a little as the Doctor. Companion: Amy. I can't think of a single episode where she was badly acted. Monsters: Weeping Angels (early versions) Villain: John Simms playing the Master. Episode: Ironically, an episode that has none of the above in it. My favourite episode was written by Neil Gaimen, and it has some of the absolute best Doctor interactions in it - The Doctor's Wife, where the TARDIS is personified by a young woman.
