  1. @Toaster Retribution You are most likely right, it probably isn't Vin, and I am probably only seeing the connection because I am in the middle of reading Hero of Ages right now. My guess is she is going to turn out to be another Radiant of some kind.
  2. Her description reminds me of Vin.
  3. Ok, so her father's death was her 'third truth', and her mother's death was her 'fourth truth'. Yet Pattern was there when Shallan killed her mother (at the age of 11, according to the Coppermind), as a Shardblade, which means that Shallan must have spoken the first oath, and two major, major truths to progress to a "level 3" Lightweaver. How do you gain such deep truths, to be able to come out with multiple of them, before the age of 11? What happened in Shallan's very early life which attracted Pattern (the 'lies')?
  4. New theory. The Radiants betrayed their oaths because they themselves were betrayed. The Heralds lied to them, telling them that the Desolation in the prologue of WoK was the last one, and that humanity had won. During the Shin Invasion, the Radiants were doing their stuff, protecting the peasants, when they discovered that the Shin were using the Honourblades, the Heralds weren't really gone, and the Desolations weren't really over.
  5. Sword of Omens. Pattern.
  6. There is a WoB that tells us that the gems in Shardplate weren't there originally, but were added later, after the Recreance. So, Plate cannot just disintegrate if it isn't kept charged with Stormlight. You may have been thinking about trying to grow Plate from a fragment of a broken piece? This is mentioned a few times in WoR, how the Plate would disintegrate if another piece of it was given more Stormlight than the piece you are trying to grow. Edit: WoB Link
  7. I don't think so. It is my belief that Shardplate is made up of the 'lesser' cousins to the Bonded Spren. For Kaladin this will be Windspren; for Shallan, Creationspren; For Dalinar, this is just another reason why he will be a Radiant without Shards - the Stormfather refused to be a Blade, and he has no lesser cousins to be Dalinar's Plate.
  8. The Lightbringers speak no oaths beyond the first. I believe it is Pattern that says this. Instead, they need to face their Truths. So, Shallan's 'second oath' was facing the truth about her father's death, and her 'third oath' is facing up to the truth behind her mother's death. It makes you wonder though, what lies was Pattern attracted to, if he was there for her mother's death?
  9. If it was just the one highstorm, then he would probably come out of it supercharged. If, on the other hand, you put Nightblood near the Origin so he was subjected to all highstorms, then after a few millennia of highstorm-free Roshar, Nightblood would have absorbed so much investiture that it would become the new Honour.
  10. You know your Employer's a Sanderfan when this gets you the job. Best of luck Extesian! Edit: Hadn't seen your reply when I wrote this. It isn't as funny now
  11. Creating a world has one of three effects: 1. A beneficial effect - The target is provided with intelligence that allows them to avoid dying once. 2. A negative effect - The world provides shock troops for a surprise attack on the target. One defence is stripped from the target, so the next attack against them cannot be protected against (unless they have multiple protections). 3. Stab In The Back - The Creator can, instead of choosing a target for the other effects, choose to use the world against the person who helped create it. Three turns later, that player is dead, this cannot be defended against, but it also means the Creator cannot create any more worlds until the death takes place. Targets and effects are chosen by the Creator (and presumably agreed with the second player needed for creation), and must be specified at the time of creation. 'Expending' a world (as in, the target has been defended, or had a defence removed) also destroys it. Or, if you don't like this idea, the worlds could be used to create the items that have already been mentioned. Either each world produces only one item (but does so every turn), or each world can produce three items of any kind, but then runs out and is destroyed. Invested is an optional rule. You said in the initial description... And other players have mentioned having Adonalsium around, and I suggested the Shattering of Adonalsium which would leave Shards floating around. So, I would say invested means they either have a Shard, or have spent some time collecting Investiture from the surrounding area. Like i said though, that part is optional, and would only really apply if you decide to have forms of Investiture in the game.
  12. What about three factions. Agents of Chaos, 17th Shard, and the other Shards? Goal is to reassemble Adonalsium's power under the control of a player. Agents and 17th Shard know who their own faction members are. Shards do not. It'll need more detail to fill it out, but there's an objective to consider. @Wilson. Hello, Mummy. Did you miss me?
  13. Another reference is to his Mistborn novels. One of the Smedry's has a talent for speaking gibberish, and says something like "Wasing the want of here," or something along those lines. That refers to Spook in The Final Empire.
  14. I spotted this on the first page... Maybe, if you want to become invested, you need to spend a day or night cycle chasing down and catching the fragments of investiture.
  15. Really the answers to those questions will depend on the other rules we end up with in the game. I was leaving them a little ambiguous so the GMs could decide for themselves how the rules fit together.
  16. You know you're a Sanderfan when you cannot remember your passwords to the email accounts you use every day, yet you recall your 17th Shard password, despite not having visited for the past two years.
  17. *SLAM* The gently rocking cupboard, that had been sitting rocking in the corner of the library for the past few years, hit the floor with a muffled yelp. The cracks between the doors began to sprout white fur and creak alarmingly, until with a loud crack (Which caused several of the Knights in the library to turn and yell "Shush!"), the lock on the door snapped, and the cupboard doors sprang open. Out poured a mass of white hair that sounded like it was cursing in several languages, rolling to a stop a short distance away. "Ha!" The mass of fur shouted (again, several Knights shushed the furball), and a pair of skinny, wrinkly legs poked out of the bottom of the ball. A pair of arms that went very well with the skinny, wrinkly legs popped out, one from each side, and slowly started the nigh impossible task of putting the hair back under control. Several hours later, a final swipe of the hands pushed the last of the beard into place to reveal the face of Botholomew the Blind, looking very pleased with himself.
  18. It's been quite some time, but the exciting build up to Oathbringer has dragged me out of the woodwork. Bortholomew the Blind, signing up. STINK, Little Wilson, a pleasure as always My rule/role: The Creator. You must work with another (invested) player, but between the pair of you, you can create worlds in the Cosmere. This can have a beneficial effect on everyone, be specifically targeted at someone (not to kill, but to remove a defense), or used to backstab your partner in building the world (ie Leras stabbed Ati in the back when creating humanity, allowing for Ati's eventual fall). This last would be an outright kill, but may also involve some kind of sacrifice from the Creator, perhaps a block on what you can do until the kill takes effect. It would be public knowledge that a world is created, although not who was involved in the creation (possible investigation to find out who?), and a fixed number of turns later (I suggest three cycles), whatever affect chosen takes effect. Edit: Forgot to add my vote, split cycle.
  19. There were a few moments during the movie that made me wince, but that is only because I am a major Star Wars fan, and they kinda dumped in a few technical impossibilities. Rey was great, and my current thinking is that she is either Luke's or Leia's daughter. Yes, Leia probably should have remembered if she was hers, but when Ben went to the Dark Side and became Kylo Ren, what if Luke took precautions to protect the youngest Solo? He hid her away, erased memories from Han, Leia, and Chewie, so Kylo Ren could never find out about her. At least, that's my crazy idea. BB-8 was cute. I was expecting him to be annoying, but was pleasantly surprised. Couldn't help but laugh out loud when he started purring when Rey first says he can go home with her. I also liked that they showed you how he got around, being very careful on the stairs, and with the grapple/tether cables. His hidden storage compartment doesn't look big enough to fit a lightsaber though. I found Finn a little annoying at first. Raised practically from birth to be a Stormtrooper, and having a panic attack on the mission? That really doesn't say much about the First Order's training regime. He became less irritating later on though. Poe was perfect. The absolute depiction of the brash, hot shot pilot. Needed more screen time, but that may just be my love of X-Wings coming through. Phasma needed more screen time, and needed to be seen kicking chull more. Kylo Ren was excellent. Not only did he manage to come across as evil, he also managed to capture that whining teenager feel that we got from Anakin in episode two. His temper tantrums were particularly funny, and like pretty much everyone else here, seeing the two Stormtroopers walk in, see him smashing stuff, turn around and leave sharply was very amusing. I can't help but feel though, Vader, watching from beyond the grave, would be so disappointed. Ren has none of his poise or self control. There have been many people who seem to have a problem with how Rey is able to defeat Ren at the end of the movie. This is something I thought was very well done, from a purely geekery point of view. You see, the Dark Side of the Force is all about power. You take the Force, and bend it to your purpose. The Light Side of the Force, however, is about guidance. You open yourself up to the Force, and it guides you.
  20. Season one was awesome. Looking forward to season two, although I'm slightly dubious about the guy they have playing Punisher. The only other thing I've seen him in was Walking Dead, and I didn't think much of him in that.
  21. So I just watched the Christmas special, starring one of my favourite recurring characters, River Song, although this one did have a bit of a melancholy feel to it, so I don't know if we'll ever see her again. I hope so. No spoilers, but I thought it was excellent how he used the TARDIS to skip ahead in time, just a few minutes.
  22. Having read the thread, this declaration from STINK about Aonar and Kipper could do with some verification. My best thought of how it happened is that STINK is, as previously claimed, a Runner, which I believe means he gets to see part of a PM, correct? He has probably seen something in PM between Kipper and Aonar, or between them and other people where they are discussing strategy, or putting some Diagrammist plot into play. Either that, or he is the Diagrammist, and Aonar and Kipper have some kind of idea as to how to reveal them. So, until further notice, STINK.
  23. *Does a ewok victory dance in thread* I have internet again, so I can post meaningful stuff. Well, about as meaningful as I get which, admittedly, isn't very meaningful at all. I'm way behind on the thread. I've been kinda keeping up with it, but not particularly paying attention since I didn't know how long I'd be internet free. So, no real suspicions at the moment. Looking forward to hearing if Hellscythe is innocent or not, if the scan isn't altered like the last one seemed to be. Also, *waves* Hello, senior citizen, erm, I mean, superior officer. You know who you are. Can we get a PM going please?
