Night Four: A Final Prayer

I can hear them. Stormfather, I can hear them, they are coming- my time is short, I write in haste- make sure my husband knows that

-Mishinah Bethab, wife of Highprince Bethab, 1173.7.5.6

Mishinah hoped she had done her duty in journaling the events of the past half-week. She felt it was important to document the affairs of the nation, even though it was likely there would be few to read them after it was done.

She hadn’t missed the looks that the various other Highprinces had given her, especially Dalinar. The man had at heart what was best for Alethkar, but storms- he was paranoid. Rightfully so, with his old friend as his sudden nemesis.

Mishinah thought that was one of the most strange things about this. It had seemed to come out of nowhere, what had been a non-issue arriving in full force as quickly as a stormwall engulfs the plains during a Highstorm.

And besides, she wasn’t maliciously taking notes to condemn and weaken like the others surely thought. She was simply chasing her own interest and desire to record.

But with every passing day, the glances evolved into glares and came more frequently. Her notepad became the target of the complainers, used as an outlet to shove all the pent-up frustration of the situation. Mishinah didn’t blame them- had she been in the same position, she’d want something to blame too.

Except, she was in the same position. She was just calm about it.

Tonight, she sat in her study with a glass of wine. Pink, for she wanted no intoxication. Mishinah took a sip and knelt, thanking the girl who had brought her the glass- Telenah, if she remembered correctly- as the girl left the room. Mishinah removed a prayer from her dress pocket and murmured a few words, lighting it ablaze. She was concerned about the safety of her own life and the nation’s, and this burned prayer had been one of comfort and peace.

The second the final bits of parchment were gone, Mishinah heard footsteps. A multitude of them, outside. She looked out the window and her breath caught. It was the group of politicians who had spoken out against her most openly, with angry looks on their faces. She closed her eyes, hating the irony.

Did the Almighty even exist?

Feeling the haste of the situation, she ran to her desk and opened her notepad to scribble some final words. Her husband was absent from the building tonight. Perhaps he was better for it. But she could at least try to leave him something.

As the door to her study banged open mid-writing, Mishanah accepted her fate.

First of all, thank you. You know who you are :)

Second of all... er... Striker? lol I don't know how much this says about Araris since e!Araris could easily have chosen to argue for the survival of a villager on purpose (so, this is village leaning for him but doesn't clear him or anything, basically), but Striker's insistence on exeing her... @StrikerEZ why did you vote her originally exactly? Apart from to avoid voting me, that is.

Because she was seen as suspicious all game. And I didn't like some of the connections I saw with Whysper as I was reading back through the thread. And her early votes felt off to me. And I thought her alignment could give us some info on other players.

And like...you can't shade me for voting on her when you voted on her yourself at one point. You changed your vote later because you voted on me. Of course I'm not going to vote on myself and therefore leave it on Elandera.

Anyway, I have no idea where to go from here. I might respond every now and then, but I'm going to be busy working on a paper tonight and tomorrow is one of my busy days in terms of classes. I'm just gonna wait until we see who dies tonight to try and make sense of what's happened so far.

I voted her primarily because I thought it would give me an idea of your alignment, and potentially also Araris's (and because, unlike Tani whom you also voted and whom I think is vil, I was slightly suspicious of Elandera all game for her weird vote on Illwei : P). Then I unvoted her because it occurred to me that it would give me a better idea of your alignment or Araris's to vote one of you off. : P so yes, I feel perfectly fine shading me for voting on her because that was the primary purpose of my voting her.

Edit: wait, you didn't vote Tani, that was Ash xD sorry, the other person you voted was me. As it happens, I already know I'm village.

Oh gosh. Sorry, everyone, I was at General Conference and then Easter and everything...

I'll catch up tomorrow - bedtime soon and I obviously need to check my RPs.

Posted (edited)

General Conference was awesome! I think I've now heard three stories of all the lights being turned off in a cave and it being totally, completely black.

Edit: Ok I have no idea whats going on and I dont like reading the backlog I feel like it takes too much time.

So what happened during the day four cycle?

2nd edit (come on, people, post more!^_^)

So I just learned that Quinn claimed the doorkeeper or whatever its called... and who she RBd... and something doesnt match up right for me.

I was RBd night 2. And there are no action redirectors this game (excluding vote manip)

So unless there are two doorkeepers or whatever its called...

3rd edit

@Ashbringer Really? You poke-voted me on Sunday. I don't do SE on Sunday.

My time zone is the same as Quinn's.

Cara frowned as she walked away. She had just finished telling him her thoughts and theories, what she had found out. He was growing worried. Loyal Highprinces were being killed. They had only found one of Sadeas' Influenced and there were defiantly more. So much had gone wrong. People were dying. Good people. Cara needed to do something before they lost what little control they had.

So,

I still don't trust Striker or Araris. With Elandera flipping village and Striker having been so insistent on voting them out, I just find that suspicious especially when I never even really got why Elandera was suspicious in the first place.

I also still trust Quinn, Gneorndin/Tani, and Books.

Have you given an explanation for why you don’t trust me after I got Whysper killed? I don’t recall. Also, any particular reason for trusting Quinn? She went after Elandera about as much as Striker did, and has been in agreement with Striker for much of them game.

Well, with you I don't really know what to think as much. I just don't feel like your village. Mostly I don't trust Striker.

And with Quinn, I wasn't really paying any attention to what was happening yesterday, so I'm not entirely sure what happened there......

I get that a lot. I think that prior to Illwei this game it's been some time since someone had a gut village read on me.

Er btw should probably point out the edits that Tani added to her last post :P and also respond to the one regarding me. @Gneorndin I blocked Archer C2 and Striker C3, so if you were blocked it means there's a second RBer. Unless your action was to use an Assassin kill, in which case it could also mean that the person you targeted had purchased armor or a contract of peace the previous Night? Though I'm not sure whether anyone would have had enough spheres for that, hmmmm.

Uh... good to know. Any suspicions?

I'm still very wary of exeing Quinn/Striker/Araris. Less so of Striker, I guess. A bit suspicious of TJ and Gneorndin, and to a lesser extent Connie, but more for lack of contribution than anything major. More trusting of Quinn and Araris, somewhat trusting of Books and FMN.

I trust Quinn and Forge and not you really, maybe just cuz Im mad at you and Forge has some good points about Striker. Elim gut read Araris, people have pointed out things about him that make me sus. Slight distrust of Striker (weaker than slight elim read) because of the amorphous reasons that I wont tell you from earlier.

If Tani is telling the truth & Quinn is really a roleblocker, then I'd expect one of the 2 RBers to be an elim. There are only a few few non-highprinces, so I think it's unlikely that there'd be any non-HP role (other than vanilla) shared by 2 villagers.

Day Five: Ramen Before Politics

I’m worried, my services are useful. Too useful. How long will it be before they come for me?

-This message was found scrawled on various spanreeds on the date 1173.7.5.6

Reva burned… everything.

Tin, constantly. Her sight was endless.

Pewter, consistently. Her strength was effortless.

Zinc, Brass to soothe the others’ thoughts on her. Copper to hide from something likely not there.

All without pause.

Compounding was simply wonderful.

It was no surprise to her when, on a night of ordinary darkness when she was using coins to bounce around the warcamps, she felt a figure walking towards her, a few dozen feet off. Sadeas had finally decided to remove her. Reva giggled, imagining that they must have seen her out here and thought she was one of those Surgebinders. No, Reva needed no secondary source for her power. Only her, and her metalminds. She was much more powerful  than any Surgebinder.

Reva sensed the metal on the dagger of the approaching figure and shook her head. It would take a simple flick, and the dagger would be impaled in the side of the man. Easy. Clean. Effective.

And yet… she had learned from past experiences that it was typically best not to interfere with how the world would have everything go. What did they say, on that one world? The Wheel turns as the Wheel wills? Besides, it would likely be appreciated by… other beings.

Reva turned her gaze to the plateaus and waved to the Sleepless watching that she couldn’t see, but could sense.

And threw up a speed bubble, for the attacker was finally upon her.

Since there was only one man, the bubble was basically useless. But burning bendalloy right before a fight had long become second nature for her, and her life was better off for it.

Not that it mattered, with her gold, but eh. Better safe than making a scene with her healing.

In a single fluid motion, Reva kicked the dagger from the man’s hand, calling on her enhanced pewter reactions. The man gasped as the knife clattered to the ground, and Reva wasted no time in decking him across the face. He crumpled instantly, and Reva cocked her head. She had only used one-quarter punch power…

Ah well. She dismissed the bubble, steeljumped to a spanreed, wrote a cryptic message, and leaped back towards the Horneater Peaks. Off to Taldain.

It had been a good while since she’d had instant noodles.

Tani is hungry! She was a Spanreed Operator!

Democracy! Event was triggered! This Night cycle the items in the marketplace, with the exception of the knife, will be at half-price.

The Day has begun and will end in ~48 hours on Wednesday, April 7th, at 5pm PST.

  • There will be a majority execution today, with tied votes being RNGd.
  • PMs are closed unless through actions
  • The marketplace is closed
  • @TJ Shade didn't post last turn, they'll be replaced if the same happens again. (No hard feelings :P)

Tani opened a PM with me last Night. She didn't tell me she was the one who opened it, and she never claimed, instead saying that she also had PMs with the real spanreed operator and with Forge. I don't know whether she claimed to Forge or not.

We're at Xlo now. If we exe or the elims kill Elhokar, then they'll reach parity after tonight. Even if this doesn't happen and we misexe somebody, the elims will have control over the exe and will be able to kill until they get to Elhokar with practically no chance of being stopped.

Posted

Possibly unimportant question: of the four people I had said were cleared for their interactions with Whysper, who had everyone said they doubted? That is, who of Tani/Books/Forge/Ash did everyone say they weren't necessarily ready to trust?

I ask because I know some people were still sus of Tani, but I think there was at least one of the four (Books, maybe?) who was more trusted but would give less info if they died. So... I'm confused why that person wasn't killed. idk, maybe that's tinfoil. But. Something to think about.

My vote is going on Striker for now (and probably for the whole cycle). Probably should have pushed harder to grinch him last cycle, but whatever. I guess I'd be okay killing TJ as well today, but I'd far prefer Striker, just because he's been exerting a lot more influence on the thread, and I think last cycle demonstrated why that was bad.

Posted

So first, off, having stepped away from the game for a bit, would like to say that I probably got too heated with Quinn the other day, and I'm sorry for that.

Now, onto figuring this game out.

We have 8 players left. One of them is Elhokar. There are 5 villagers and 3 elims (unless Mat did something funky), and I know I am a villager. That leaves me with having to decide which of you 7 are the elims. If we assume that everyone who voted to kill Whysper was a villager, then we just solved the game, as the only players that leaves are Quinn, Connie, and TJ (excluding myself). I don't know if we can assume anything like this right now, not when things are this close. And, things aren't at ExLo as long as we don't hit Elhokar.

I really don't know where to even look for our elims at this point. They've done a really good job of managing to stay alive so far, as far as I'm concerned.
