Yep. I got through it all fine, but fighting Thunderblight with six or so hearts is hard. This was after I had a fair amount of experience, though.... 18 hours ago, The Wandering Wizard said: Did you see the spirit vessel that Link has on his waist? Skyward Swoooooord flashbacks! This game looks neat and I like it and I want it. 20 hours ago, Eluvianii said: Well, there's caves in this game it seems. Hope this one is more plot focused. I actually agree. BotW was an incredible game, but I also loved the style and plot of the more guided Zelda games. This game is going to be epic either way, but it would be nice to see at least a little return to old-fashioned Zelda.

The Bookwyrm he/him Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Just now, Channelknight Fadran said: ._. Are you advocating for the silent realms ...Not necessarily. I just like Skyward Sword. ...Wait... A Silent Realm in this world would be cool... It's possible they have a mechanic similar to it. Remember, there was also a spirit vessel in Twilight Princess, or something like it. And like Skyward sword, the mechanic involved navigating an alternate version of a normal portion of the map looking for the little tears. Oh? Tears you say? That's what goes in a Spirit Vessel? And the title of the game is Tears of the Kingdom? What I think is more likely, personally, is that the reward for beating a dungeon is a Tear of some kind, and you're collecting those in the Spirit Vessel. And based on the mural we see in one of the other trailers, these seven Tears are important... Somehow.
Channelknight Fadran Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Skyward Sword is criminally underrated. I thoroughly enjoyed it. But if they bring back the Spirit Tear collection thing from Twilight Princess then I will flip every table. 1

It would allow the return of traditional dungeons, while also keeping the "whatever order you want" thing. That way they don't need to lock progression behind items, though maybe some things could unlock based on the number of tears you have.

Philomath she/her Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 So my kids ages 6 and 9 just beat BOTW this week. I’ve been super impressed watching them play. By beat I just mean beating Calamity Ganon/Dark Beast Ganon. My 6 year old didn’t even do Vah Naboris. I feel like I super over prepared for everything. Ha ha. I got all the shrines and everything before I even considered going to Ganon. They game a lot more than me and definitely asked for advice. But they did it all on their own and I am proud of them. They both had the goal to beat it before Tears of the Kingdom. Now I just need to make my goals which were to beat one new Zelda game and the Champion’s Ballad stuff from BOTW before Tears. I’ve started both Ocarina of Time and the remake of Link’s Awakening. I don’t get to play lots though and will admit that I forget the controls for OoT and what I’m supposed to be doing almost every time. Oops. 1

Oops. my take on it is that the exploration was the most fun part, and shrine puzzles were pretty high up there too, so wandering around looking for shrines was exactly what I wanted to do with the game. sure the last few were just to check the box and say I got them all, but most of it was just the pure pleasure of exploring around Hyrule looking for interesting things. 1
Channelknight Fadran Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 This is easily one the best Zelda theories ever constructed. That is all. Spoiler Has anyone noticed the decided lack of Triforce in all our beloved TotK trailers? I wonder what that's all about...

Channelknight Fadran Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 I would like to go in completely blind

I was going to look the gameplay video up but now that you mention it I think I won't. I have such a hard time playing through games blind. But I think I'm getting better. The quest to find something that will make me cry is ongoing. (Listening and crying to VGM OSTs later doesn't quite count in my opinion)

(Listening and crying to VGM OSTs later doesn't quite count in my opinion) original BOTW is the first game in a while where I actually avoided looking stuff up, and it was the better for it. ended up needing help finding the last 3 shrines, but I think that was it. I figure this game will be another where I should try the same approach.

Granted, my gaming experience has been very limited when compared to some, but I think I could get a lot more out of games and have a lot more enjoyment of them if I played through more blind.
