Results of the poll seem to be about done. The first question is pretty close, leaning toward not having an army attack, so what do you all think of a compromise - maybe another attack about this size sometime later? Like, fiftyish enemies, still pretty easily defeated?

Quote

The results as of this post are 6-6, a tie. I would like an attack, I could work with no attack; half an attack is going to be harder to work with. I'd explain, but I'm not sure about spoilers...

Secondly we have a tie between no destruction and some destruction, so maybe this potential attack breaks a window or something?

It appears to me that eight people would be fine with some destruction, while five would rather the house stay completely intact.

*raises eyebrow* What are you intending this to do?

Cassie slammed her Blade through the torso of another Voidbringer, thoughts determinedly blank. Her clothes were now offering more protection than they used to, which was quite helpful. She still tried to teleport away whenever a blow came close to her, but now she could afford to slip up a little. In the back of her mind she thanked Rob. There was a maneuver she’d done a few times now, one where she grabbed a Voidbringer and somehow used Cohesion to Connect their Spiritual aspect, their soul, to the Physical Realm. Then she went through the motions of Transporting them into the Cognitive. She wasn’t sure what it was doing to them, but it was effective.

She had just finished this yet again when her instincts screamed at her, sensing movement in the Cognitive Realm, and she popped back into it by reflex. A new spirit-flame appeared before her eyes, right in front of where she had been. Cassie smiled. You want to play with Transportation? Let’s start the game, then.

She bent her knees, then jumped with all the force of Stormlight behind her, moving between Realms as she did, en route to crashing into the new foe.

Sheln stumbled slightly as his Blade passed through empty air, but recovered quickly. As the girl popped back into the Physical, he swung his Blade upwards into her path, bending his knees slightly to ready for an impact.

We don’t know enough about Cohesion to know what the effects of that would be, so I left it unclear.

The results are now different because more people have voted since I called the results, because I forgot to delete the poll :P but I need to make a new one anyway, so I’ll do that shortly.

Go ahead and explain everything, I don’t know what you mean by spoilers. Everyone is privy to plot happenings. And it wouldn’t be half an attack - it would be a full attack, just a small one. (And that’s a five, not an eight?)

The attack’s not over, Ocelot, don’t worry. You can still fight :)

Cassie, having done this minutes earlier, landed on his Blade. This time, however, she stumbled slightly. She was working less off of instinct artificially given to her by the Nightwatcher, and more off of her own thoughts - which was dangerous, because she had a whole host of things to think about bearing down on her. She teleported up into the air above the Voidbringer, bringing her Blade forward to intercept his head.

Nym was sitting in the living room, desperately watching the fight.  But, she knew when she was spent.  That didn't make her a coward, did it?  Lopen sat beside her, as anxious and frustrated as a spren could be.  That Cryptic, I... Ugggghh.  Nym smiled, he was usually an exited, good-natured, spren but, give him someone he didn't like, and that goes quickly.

How many voidbringers left?  Besides the one with Cassie.

Jamie heard shouts from outside. She’d been sitting on her bed, lost in memory. She was thinking back to the times she’d fought Koloss, wondered if they stood any chance against a Voidbringer. Both of them were… somewhat human, and they both seemed to kill with no regard for things like morality. That was question for another time, however.

She stood, getting up to look out the window at the fight below. She paused for a moment, considering how exactly to get down to the fight below. She could go downstairs and out the door, like a normal person. But that was both boring, and it would take too long.

Instead, she grinned, opened the window, drowned some pewter and jumped out, flaring the metal as she landed in a crouch. Shock echoed up her legs, but she was mostly unharmed. She held her hand out in front of, calling her Shardblade to her. Her heartbeat echoed loudly in her head as she stood up, scanning for targets.

My plan was to have Thade mount an all-out attack after Sheln was defeated. There is a possibility, however, that soon-to-occur events will cause him to reconsider and not attack. If he does attack, though, he's going all-out.

I'm assuming that the people who put they were fine with the whole house getting destroyed are also fine with it being slightly damaged.

Sheln stumbled back a step, his blade continuing on its upward trajectory, directly into the place where Cassie had just teleported into.

Fast, he noted. Fifth oath for sure.

Jace saw the continued fighting and tried to blind the teleporting Voidbringer one last time, the flash of brilliant light less intense but less than an inch from the storming creatures eyes. Then he ignored them both and focused on what he could do, clinging to Ax as he struggled not to lose whatever flow he was in that was letting him use his powers. It was getting harder, and the strain was hard to fight against. After all, the memories were being shoved down- without those vivid images, the  illusions were more fake and less effective. He wasn't sure what else he could use, unable to think of anything vivid enough to use. It was such an oddly difficult struggle for his normally creative mind to do anything...

Whatever he does will have to align with the vote.

I’m still averaging those opinions to give us the result of a very small amount of damage.

Also, you have now been flashbanged twice, take that into account.

This is a question for everyone, shouldn’t our neighbors be hearing this? :P

Her Blade coming down met with his coming up, and the two crashed together, the sound ringing out among the furious clamor of the battlefield. Cassie’s lips pulled back from her teeth and she teleported away again as a couple bright flashes of light and sound erupted next to the Voidbringer’s face; she was five feet away now. But she might have another trick up her sleeve, she realized. If the Nightwatcher really had given her all the powers of a Fifth Ideal Radiant...

Shield, she ordered her Blade, and was delighted to see it shimmer and fuzz and shift into a silvery shield, shining with Stormlight. She crossed the feet between them in two steps and thrust it forward, pushing it at him while he was still blinded, certain that he would be knocked over.

Sheln stumbled backwards, blinded by the sudden flash. Where...?

All of a sudden, something slammed into him from the front. He fell backwards with a yelp, instinctively popping into Shadesmar.

Yeah, but it's deteriorating.

Hey, if you want Leona to come in, here's a chance ^_^

Cassie pressed her advantage, following him to the Cognitive Realm, commanding her Shardshield to grow spikes as she did so. She forced it forward again.

That's it.  Nym was done just watching the battle.  She wouldn't go in the battle, but maybe Ben needed help.  She walked over to Ben and asked, "What can I do to help?" @Lunamor

“Could you, um, help me up please? If you’re not too tired? I need to get over there so I can see well enough to use my illusions.”

He pointed in Shana’s general direction.

You can't summon Shardweapons in Shadesmar...

Sheln's eyes flicked from the girl to the deadeye spren besides her, confused. "Your... spren?" he murmured. "How is that possible?"

I feel like the average is closer to 'some destruction' than 'no destruction'

Maybe it is, but I feel like there's a reason she's taking her tone. I prefer things done in-depth and slow compared to shallow and rushed. Does that make sense?

Whoops, sorry about that.

Instead of manifesting spikes, her weapon disappeared as she transferred between Realms. She gave her empty hands a confused look. In front of her, the Voidbringer looked equally confused, gaze switching from her to just to the side of her and back. Trying to keep her awareness still on him in case he made a move, Cassie inched her head around and looked.

There was a spren. Its form was humanoid and female, skin and hair and clothes all a dull brown, somehow metallic without shining. The spren's clothes seemed to be built in, part of it, and where its eyes should have been, gouges and scratches marked the pits. It was like someone had taken a chisel and decided that they particularly hated this statue. It was looking at her, if 'looking' was the right word, and its posture was rigid but not offensive. Cassie looked away, a bit creeped out but mostly worried about the Voidbringer coming at her while she was distracted. She glared at him and tried to summon her Shardblade.

A little windspren had been playing close by. When the fighters entered his realm he curipusly flew closer, whirled and twirled around his axis.

Feel free to regard this post an non-canon since I have no idea if there are windspren in our setting.

I just had to react to Ene's post...

The spren screamed, the noise cutting Cassie's thoughtless facade away, and she dropped to her knees. It didn’t all hit her at once; the events of the last few minutes sank in one by one, slowly. Suddenly she didn’t care if the Voidbringer attacked her, because she had commanded Joy like she was nothing, looked at her like she was nothing. Had thought of Voidbringers as ‘it’ - they did have genders, and she could at least acknowledge that, even if she didn’t want to think about them being human.

Oh, storms. She had killed people. She had killed them in so many ways, fast, slow, by tearing their souls from them, by - her stomach lurched as she recalled some of the things Cohesion could do - by drowning them in beads - by breaking her oath. All of this was because she had broken the First Ideal.

Journey before destination. I failed. I asked for the destination instead of going through the journey. The Nightwatcher didn’t stop me, because a Radiant’s Words are her honor, and now I must hold by mine.

Strength before weakness. I was strong just moments ago, fighting, but if that’s strength...then I don’t want it. At least when weak, I’m still me. Like I was when I was only at the First Ideal. Weak...but myself.

Life before death. I have killed so many...is there any way I can repent that? Cassie bowed her head next to a looming Voidbringer and a deadeye lightspren, trapped by her own hatred. I deserve to die.

But...dying wouldn’t adhere to life before death. Living would. Dying won’t make up for what I’ve done. Neither will living. But at least with life, there’s a chance. I have a chance. She looked up. Tired; exhausted. Alive.

Cassandra Deoven stood up. She looked at the Voidbringer. She wasn’t glowing, and in Shadesmar, she carried no weapon - her clenched fists were all she had. But she was going to live.

“Life before death.”

You guys are great! In fact, everything is great! There is light in this world, and it is you humans! Also Po the kandra! I’ve been writing like we don’t have common spren, but maybe that’s an effect of Sha-thoexis and when she stops being a thing spren can show up for the very end and for our sequel! How does that idea sound! :D
