AonEne he/him Posted June 14, 2019 Author Posted June 14, 2019 1 hour ago, Hope Spren said: "So," Evelyn said as they walked in the direction of the Aon Edo she had made. "Do you have magic?" I shrugged. "Technically, yeah, though at the moment I can't do too much. We have to swear oaths to be able to do stuff." I tapped Joy as she went to dart past me, knocking her off-course. "This little ball of light is like...a personal companion, or something. The bond between us gives me power." I smiled at her as she gave off a quick pulse of annoyance and zipped past again. Quote Joy can't be invisible.
WrathofaShardKitten Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 "That's amazing! Is it like a Seon? Does it have a name?"
AonEne he/him Posted June 14, 2019 Author Posted June 14, 2019 Quote I wasn't anticipating that comparison, I don't know what you're talking about "A what?" My eyebrows went up. "I don't know what a 'seon' is, but Joy's not one. We call them spren."
WrathofaShardKitten Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 "A Seon. They look a lot like Joy, but Seons are bigger, and, if you look closely, you can see their base Aon. They're . . . They're kind of a type of magic too. Seons can talk, and they can be used to communicate over large distances as long as you have one in each place. They can also fly, and they usually bond with certain people." "We should turn here," Evelyn said, gesturing towards a side street. Quote Hooray! Confusion for everyone! I was just thinking that it was interesting that the second person Evelyn met was a Willshaper.
AonEne he/him Posted June 14, 2019 Author Posted June 14, 2019 "Wow, that sounds a lot like spren. Joy can't talk, but some other varieties can," I said, surprised. Going where she indicated, I sidestepped another traveler and added, "So wait, you can produce something called an Aon that makes walls of light, and these seons have Aons inside of them? Do you make them too?"
WrathofaShardKitten Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 (edited) Evelyn shrugged. "No one really knows how Seons were made. At least, I don't. They've kind of just . . . always been around. I kind of wonder if we learned the Aons from the Seons. I mean, the Seons have been around for ages, and you can actually see the Aons in them. It makes sense that people might have tried to copy them, or that the Seons actually taught them to us." "We turn again here. You can see the wall at the end of the street." Eluvianii he/him Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Quote Wait, Lightspren can talk, can't they? Now I feel like I'm doing something wrong.
AonEne he/him Posted June 14, 2019 Author Posted June 14, 2019 Quote Venli's can't. I've been going with that for mine too. We don't know a lot about Willshapers, though, so you're probably fine. Yee, confusion! As we neared the wall, I broke into a run, slowing a minute later as I tested the light with one finger.

"Pretty cool, right?" Evelyn said, coming up beside Cassie. "I remember how amazed I was when I found out I could make those. Want to throw something at it before I take it down?" AonEne he/him Posted June 14, 2019 Author Posted June 14, 2019 I grinned. "Storms, yes. That'd be awesome." After scanning the immediate area, I pounced on a couple rocks nearby and hurled them at the wall one by one.
WrathofaShardKitten Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 The wall flashed brighter for a moment after the rocks hit, and the rocks went flying backwards and hit the ground. Evelyn grinned.
old man moomba he/him Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Quote Last I checked, Luther was trying to figure out Shardblade stances. Doc smiled and headed into his study. He clicked on the desk lamp, removing several items from a drawer. He laid a sheet of paper on the desk and clicked open a case. Inside lay a stock of large pens with rubies glowing on them. Each one was neatly labled with the person or enclave in possession of the other spanrial. Doc flicked through the pens, selecting one that read: Vaults, Vancouver Island, BC. He switched it on and began to wait. A few minutes later, the pen stood up on the sheet of paper and began to write. Who is this? Doc smiled and picked up the pen, Doctor James Deovan. I have a request to make. Go on. I've found someone I think will make a good Shardbearer. Please send a Shardblade to Seattle as soon as possible. I'll see to it. Doc nodded to himself and began to put everything away. ~~~ Jamie quickly called an Uber and walked back to the motorbike, waiting for it to arrive.
WrathofaShardKitten Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 10 hours ago, AonEne said: I cackled. "That is so sweet." "Agreed," Evelyn said. "I should probably take it down before it attracts too much attention, but if you want, I could probably make one in a less obvious place if you want to train with it." Evelyn stepped forward and placed a hand on the center of the wall. The wall vanished, leaving a faint after image of Aon Edo before completely disappearing.
AonEne he/him Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 "Huh," I muttered, thinking about that. "Well, it's up to my uncle, but it could make for some interesting training. Thanks for the offer." I started walking backward. "That all you needed to do?"
WrathofaShardKitten Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 "Yep. That's pretty much it. So, you said that your spren, Joy, was bonded with you. How did you get her? Maybe it's different with spren, but seons are usually passed down through families. Did you have a Willshaper family member that passed her on to you or what?" Evelyn followed Cassie, walking forwards.
AonEne he/him Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 I stopped walking for only a heartbeat before moving on. "Nah, my parents passed away years ago. Joy showed up..." When I started doing increasingly reckless things to cope. "...later. I said some special words and that was it." I looked at Joy, bobbing along behind us, subdued. "She chose to bond with me."
WrathofaShardKitten Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 "Oh. Sorry. Spren and Seons just seemed so similar, so I was wondering . . ." Evelyn looked away. "So, You say that you need to use oaths to get more power. How does that work? Do you need to promise to do certain tasks or something? Kind of like a quest in exchange for more power?"
AonEne he/him Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 "It's a bit like that for some Radiants, but for others it's more a journey of self-discovery, figuring out who you are." Quote Heh, I typoed that as ate. We must figure out who we have consumed! 1
WrathofaShardKitten Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 "Wait, Radiants?" Evelyn asked, her eyes growing wide. "That's what those voidbringers were looking for! Are you a radiant? Why are the voidbringers looking for you? Also, different types of Radiants?"
AonEne he/him Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 I stared at her. "More of them are looking for us? Crap. Yeah, Willshapers are Radiants; there are ten different orders of us. All together we're the Knights Radiant. As for why they're hunting us..." I shook my head. "I'm not sure. It's just what they do." Quote By the way, everyone, a new poll is up. Be sure to vote!
WrathofaShardKitten Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 Evelyn walked in silence for a time, turning a corner. "So those voidbringers that chased me . . . How did they know to look for Radiants? Are there really that many around here, or did they somehow know you were coming?"
AonEne he/him Posted June 15, 2019 Author Posted June 15, 2019 "Seattle does have a lot of us," I said absently.
