I would like to get back into this, and I don't really have a good reason for why I haven't been really doing anything lately. I think what we might need is a plot direction. I, for one, have no idea where my story is going, and so I started out kind of waiting for something to happen that I can react to... and that led to me just never responding again.

Anyway, yeah, I'm not sure what we could do. The only thing I could think of would be to just ask everyone who's participating if they can continue or not (and if they don't reply, assume that means no.) That wouldn't be a permanent solution that prevents us from fizzling out again, but it could at least let us know if we have enough people to try starting again for now.

Honestly I think the biggest thing is that we need someone other than me as a forerunner for this group. I love the Alleyverse, but am currently focusing my energy elsewhere, and so having someone else take the reigns would be a good idea.

We’ve been kinda dead for a while, unfortunately.

I would be up for starting again, but I’m not sure if there’s enough people to keep it running.

Yeah, I’ve been focusing on other projects, and so while I am around to approve characters, I really can’t be the one running things. Sorry about that!

I would love to keep participating here, but I don't want to interfere with anyone else's plotlines or anything, so if someone else wants to keep going, I'm happy too.

I can probably participate in the alleyverse, and can absolutely get characters approved, but I do not have the time to lead the alleyverse like I used to.

i can coach someone else to do so, and potentially even get them into a moderation role if they need it, but I got a lot going on with other responsibilities atm.

So. Right now we're getting back into the AV, or at least trying to. I'll be around, and will be acting as a moderator/advisor, but not as the main driver of the plot and keeping people on task. That'll be @Ookla the Cutest's job, and anyone who wishes to step up and take on some extra responsibility.

That said, how are y'all feeling for the era? Things haven't been planned out yet, and we kinda left on a bummer with a large scale plot planned, and the main driver of it having to drop out due to life getting in the way. So we'll still need to figure out how to move past that. Probably what would be best would be to say that UFO (the previous 'bad guy' group from the last era) was caught at their schemes and their plan failed. However, that's not set in stone at all.

Would we want something big an unifying, or would we want a smaller scale plot like in Era 7? Era 7 was where Perses was a pain in the butt and was causing problems, but nothing major was happening across Alleycity.

I have been setting up Belias, a powerful alleybeing that is manipulating and controlling Perses, to make his play on influencing Alleycity at large, but I dunno if that's something we would want for this era or future eras. And besides, I was more intending for Perses to be a bit more of a background character, popping in to serve as a side antagonist for whoever needs a bad guy to fight. But next semester I'm taking fewer classes, two of which are writing based (poetry and creative writing), so I can use AV as an experimenting grounds and as an excuse for supplemental writing stuffs. So I'm open to whatever, really.

Anybody have ideas? We have quite a few Radiants currently in the mix. Perhaps something oriented in the Sphere?

I for one am really interested in seeing what New Urithiru is like, and possibly getting into the idea of trying to get a spren like being to inhabit it. If I remember right, that had been something the Radiants there were debating?

@Akimikoisthecutest do you have particular plans for the mayor character? I’m thinking of adding some background lore to the establishment of a mayoral position in the Mistwarrens (as the Mistwarrens were up until this era not an official “district” more than a collection of slums across the edges of some districts), and its relation to Perses’ efforts. But I wouldn’t want to trample on anything you might have planned for that character.

Well, he's the mayor in the sense that he is the most "powerful" person in the area, so he's trying to get the mistwarrens to be it's own district, and he decided that the best way to do so is to show that they are a community. Other than that, he's really just a crime lord who wants more power.

Mind if I establish some connections between him and Perses? At this point Perses has expanded to more lofty things, but he still likes keeping the Mistwarrens under his thumb, and would have likely indirectly set up this guy with his current power.

Proposal for what Ebon’s been up to the last year:

He and Perses are regular partners now, and working together. ALTERNATIVELY, perhaps they WERE partners but a while before the start of Era 9 they had a breakup of sorts and so Ebon has been flying solo for the past two months or so. I actually like that option cause it gives us more options for unresolved tensions without tying our plots together necessarily.

I also think it would be cool to open with Ebon fighting the organization that stole the research from him so long ago. Do you mind if I come up with my own organization? Like… what about the Crimson Breath. A shadowy, Nalthian-led Alleyverse organization working on creating Cosmere-shaking weapons - largely using the research taken from the Fused. Ebon has been tracking and fighting the Crimson Breath for a while now, and this morning he’s gonna execute a strike on one of their main bases in the Nalthian district. That could also cause a scene that other characters could come and interact with.

Why don’t you go ahead and respond to my RP post for now (I’m gonna give it a “one year ago” timestamp) and let me know what you think of my proposals.

I like the “one year later”, but I’m willing to do whatever

I do think there were a lot of plot threads going on at the end of Era 8 that are unlikely to be resolved, so perhaps a time jump is best

I’d make a pretty public announcement though just in case
