Rond was cornered. at least seventy armed investiture users surrounded him. the leader, a tall black woman with a look of someone not used to being disobeyed, sneered at him, "well, here we have the scientist, the one TOC told us was probably gonna be a handful for them, well, you don't look very impressive, eh?" she drew out her dagger and lifted it inches from Rond's throat, "you could have been useful to us much, much more Rond. your chance, though slim, would have given you treasures beyond imagining. but since you refused, it is time to end you."

Rond widened his eyes and whispered something Unintelligble. the woman cursed briefly and then stabbed him in the throat.

Nameless popped in with an invitation. "Oh. Is this a bad time? I can come back later."

Absorbing native energy is not a requirement to manifest in other universes. All universes are guaranteed to run under the same metaphysics due to Silence maintaining the framework that the luxsprites created.

Would you rather that Drozor have stolen the power that he obtained, or would you rather have had him be the rightful guardian of it?

"When the crystal was shattered, it broke into four pieces," the Knight continued. The picture of the crystal split into four orbs, colored amaranth, aquamarine, cerulean, and cerise. "The power was divided into four elemental spirits- one of fire, one of water, one of air, and one... of earth." As he said the last word, his voice seemed to tremble slightly for a moment. But it was gone. "These spirits were, of course, able to manipulate their specific element- but they could do much, much more." He moved around the table, touching each orb one at a time as he explained.

"Amaranth. Elemental of Fire. Able to produce and control energy of all forms." 

"Aquamarine. Elemental of Water. Able to alter the flow of time."

"Cerulean. Elemental of Air. Able to bend space and move between worlds."

He paused, and another consultant finished for him.

"Cerise. Element of Earth. Able to manipulate matter and rearrange reality."

The Knight did not continue for a moment, his gaze fixated upon the final pinkish-red orb.

Did Nameless abandon Moni?

Did Nameless abandon Moni? 

The need to absorb native energy is for the skeins, to manifest in forms that can have meaningful interactions with a given universe. Each time they enter a new universe, they take on a roll in the native area, by nature of the balance they represent. Yes, Drozor can be the rightful guardian of the luxsprite energy, but he himself is not a luxsprite, unless that is something like the Elantrians, where people can become one when they were not.

The skeins looked in fascination, and each reached into their chest and moved the energy, revealing a jagged triangular shard of some strange material, native to their elsewhere. each shard was a refinement of elemental energy.

"And what is the last one? Or is it two as one?" the Spectra prompted.

well, the consultants want the Witherlord gone too. The withergeists will still remain, probably.

Drozor would not be a luxsprite, indeed. That is a race, not a class.

The reason it split into six is because Drozor was involved.

anything from investiture to starlight, the energy is absorbed and stored, it takes a great deal of energy to manifest a physical from for them, and they see it as merely a tool, regardless of where it comes from. they are not truly alive, like they were originally. ps, unless specified otherwise, the skeins talk as one.

"We represent six aspects of a living mortal who is truly in balance. Where we are from, which is now gone, this is the balance, and from the six elements comes the essence of energy and life, which we are not."

"Before, all of you did each part of the binding separately. If you instead specialize, you can get the beginnings of the binding up almost instantaneously."

What do you mean by world sets? And when would the skeins have had opportunity to travel between them?

The survey felt troubled.

Spook blinked, the scientists and their leader looked confused. Micheal finally said, "um, Rond is not here, this is a Thaylen temple. Also if you are asking, the rest of us are on a quest, um. we are also in the start of a potential fight, soooo, could you go?"

you're contradicting yourself, do you mean they all did it together, and should instead specialize?

The Skeins sat in shared thought for a moment.

"That might work, but there are parts of it that we can only do together, later. The beginnings of the binding only define the creature/being/area that we are binding, and some other esoteric items necessary to the binding. It may cut the time down to a half minute, but we can change our personal passage through time in small ways, so it should be almost nothing to everyone else. We would have to practice, and the time-shifting part will need a dedicated external energy source."

It's part of how I organize universes and worlds in books and it is somewhat fluid, starting with universe (a core possibility), plane(related core possibilities), Planar groups("close" planes), and world sets(separated planar groups, one for each book series.). the way the skeins use it, it means planar groups, which are far enough apart to be distinctly different and have odd reactions with creatures from them.

Rond made dead noises and the group of seventy investiture users turned abruptly, weapons out. the leader said, "who are you?"

Nameless leaned down next to Rond, feeling for a pulse. "Guys! He doesn't have a pulse!" He started cpr, pointing at one of the people in the crowd. "You, call 911. Tell them there's a guy who's having a heart attack due to," Nameless glanced at Rond's slit throat. "Blood loss from a slit throat."
