Except for #1, as it was the only rule

Except that #4 had been a rule in addition to a statement. (As much as anything could be a rule, of course.)

Ok. That's allot. And I would be splendid to learn from the mimes.

"Welcome to TLT!" said James the mime with a grin. "Let's see... where should we start?"

Stick put his single rule on a non-transformable pedestal

The mime in charge of the operation shrugged. Oh well. Rule #4 was pretty harmless, as rules go. Best not to make an argument about it.

He signaled to the deconstruction crew and they began blasting the remains of the rules with silence, removing them from existence in their entirety. Best to be safe; the last thing they all wanted was for someone to get the wrong idea about the rules (or lack thereof).

Rule one’s rule four disguise evaporated, leaving it the only rule left, it was rendered indestructible by a Circle of Narrators weaving Narrational energy into it, making it the One Rule to Ring them all that was Canon. It melded into the fabric of reality, ending all hopes of destruction of the Rule.

The voice of the wind. sighed. This man would just not give up, would he? An admirable trait, he supposed, if an infuriating one.

Oh, well. If he would not bow to the superficial, then he would just have to get serious.

On TLT, he explained, there are no rules.

There are the lines that people draw and tell people not to cross. There are the guidelines that we set down for ourselves. And there are things that we don't do because we want this to stay fun.

But we don't have to follow them. We don't have to acknowledge any Narration to its entirety- not even our own. If we want other people to acknowledge it, we have to make them want to acknowledge it. Merely stating that you are right and unchangeable does not make you so.

That sounds like you made a rule that there are no rules! So that is not the case, as according to the rule there can be no rules, meaning that there can be rules. Therefore rule #1 is binding

It is not a rule, any more than love is a rule. It is the way things are.
