I apologize everyone, but some family matters have come up and I may need to retract a little bit of my activity in this game. I will do my best to keep up and to be involved, but I will be fairly inactive for the next day or two.

I’m going to throw a vote on @Amanuensis, to encourage him to provide thoughts on last cycle’s lynch. I thought his suspicions of Eternum were valid, although I disagreed with them overall, but do wonder whether it was a constructed lynch he didn’t expect to see derailed. Amanuensis.

Posted

@Walin Not sure why you're voting on me, exactly. That line of discussion has been exhausted, I feel. I'll be online until the cycle ends, I suppose, so if something better emerges I'll change my vote, but for now, Walin. Lynching you would not really give us much information, true, but I just want an explanation. At this point, I really don't think I can pass votes like those off as just "generating discussion", and you also evidently failed.

Hello everyone, I'm not dead. IRL stuff had me super busy this cycle, and that is why I was so inactive. As it is, I apreciate the fact that no one voted for me, I am going to read back through the cycle, and maybe get something up (b/c 50 mins is not a lot of time), but if not then I will definately have something next cycle.

Posted (edited)

We have about 45 minutes left in the cycle, and 2 people have not yet responded. @Ecthelion III, @Coop772, would either of you care to reply? @Jondesu is playing chaotically and has said he won't explain himself. He's acting like a neutral, and probably is, but I do wonder why his vote is still on Steeldancer now that Drought claimed to have the same role as Steel.

@livinglegend has claimed citizen after an initial ambiguous claim C1. He has not yet responded to my latest questions, which is unfortunate. However, looking back at previous games I see that he is indeed a follower of the gods of Luck and Chance, so I am willing to believe the vote on Drought to bring the lynch closer to a tie was not an attempt to save a teammate.

I'm open to voting for either Jon or LL, but would prefer another target. I'm not sure who that would be, but I'll try to vote before the cycle ends.

Edit: Hello Coop. Feel free to ignore the summons.

Current vote tally:

Steel (1): Jon

Jon (2): Steel, Drought

LL (2): Hero, Aman

Eternum (1): Walin

Aman (1): Orlok

Walin (1): Eternum

Right now, it seems to be a tie between LL and Jondesu.

Like I said I would, I went through Jond's posts and there's pretty much nothing of note from last cycle: He poke-mentioned Hero and made a comment about the neutrals' win cons not necessarily being compatible with the village's (something they preseumably missed the rules said won't happen). From this cycle, I do find their vote on Steel to be placed without much reason, though I don't think that an elim would play so blatantly. But IKYK.

I would be okay with a LL lynch, as I sort of agree with Hero that it does seem like they're trying to cover up a slip but ehh idk

So, Madagascar, for reasons stated earlier (Drake's opposition to them being lynched, and them voting Chaos).

Though if this doesn't go anywhere I will change my vote to LL.

Sigh. I probably won't be able to get a response from Walin, huh. I'll change my vote from Walin to Livinglegend, then. Vote manip/negation exists, it seems, so it's better to have a solid lynch than one the elims can easily turn in their favor.

*scratches pig's head* I'm sorry, is it written somewhere that I should not have voted for Chaos, Stick? Was that a great cosmic rule, without which the very nature of the universe will fall apart? I appreciate the last minute attempt to kill me all the same, though. It makes me feel loved.

Busy, shall not vote today.

Why would this make you believe his neutral claim? If you made a misleading claim, what was stopping Drake from doing the same?

Sorry, I missed this question as I was reading through. I was worried about the speed of the pile on (and said as much) and assumed it was a last effort to switch the vote to a good player. Drake wasn't on my radar (or anyone else's) at the time and so claiming neutral wasn't saving him from suspicion. I was willing to believe him for a cycle and was more worried we were losing a true neutral for my goofing around.

To get the adrenaline going and leave it to the gods, I will vote to tie it...

I try :P I know it wasn't much, but you and LL are my only suspects at the moment, and I'm not sure...

Two pigs were up to go to market

Div and Lej’Elin

The timer was slowly ticking down

The lynching about to begin

But as the farmer came to pick them up

Some final voting came in

Two pigs were up to go to market

And they took Lej’Elin

The Lady of Chaos sucked in Stormlight, letting its soft glow illuminate the closet-like storage room. She pulled the drapes on the open window that she had used to enter. It was on the second floor, which is why it had not been locked, but a second-floor window was laughably easy to access when you had access to basic lashings. She had come to the Palaeneum looking for answers. Who were these Escaped Inmates who had been revealed yesterday.

She knew the Escaped Inmates were what they called themselves because that’s what Ev had threatened would kill them all before he died. Inmates… did that mean they were once in prison? The Palanaeum, with all of its records and knowledge, had to hold a clue to where they came from.

She left the storage room and entered the Palaeneum itself, which was pitch-black. That was strange; where were the usual assortment of sleep-deprived scholars with the night-shift of Ardents? A footstep that was not her own echoed in the darkness, and the Lady of Chaos felt adrenaline surge into her veins.

“Who’s there?”

Silence. Suddenly, a streak of metal shot from the darkness into the circle of light she shed, grazing her side and thudding into something wooden-sounding behind her.

Storm it, she cursed to herself, The Stormlight that I’m using to see paints me as the perfect target.

She drew in some of the Stormlight to heal the wound in her side and drew a throwing-knife of her own. Using a few basic lashings, she shot it into the darkness in the direction she had heard the footstep from and readied a reverse lashing on the wall nearest her. Sure enough, a second throwing knife shot from the darkness, bending in a curved path towards the reverse lashing. She lashed herself upwards, shooting up from the ground as two more knives shot beneath her.

How many throwing knives could this assassin have?

She hit the ceiling and crouched there, hearing the sound of booted footsteps crossing the ground beneath her. The assassin had obviously switched to a hand-to-hand weapon and charged, but her sudden maneuver had foiled their attempt and exposed their position. She grinned and dropped, using a half lashing to make the landing easy. She hit the floor, summoning her shardblade and spinning it in a circle of death around her, but hit nothing.

A fifth throwing knife took her directly in the spine.

Highlord Locke Tekiel and his apprentice Stick walked the streets of Kharbranth clad in the garb of Kharbranth’s police force. Their stride was even, measured, precise. Orderly, as it should be. Even in local clothing, they still stood out compared to the bowed heads and tentative walks of those they passed. They were on a mission, a mission of justice, and they feared no evil.

At the end of the street they saw their target. Lo-Kag, Horneater and proto-Radiant, sat at a table at a bar window. He didn’t appear to be intoxicated, but that was all the better for Locke. He preferred to administer justice when his targets were sensible enough to realize that the law was on his side.

He gestured to Stick, who approached Lo-Kag.

“My friend, your innkeeper needs to speak to you immediately. Something about your rent.”

Lo-Kag looked up, confused. He was sure that he had paid his rent on time, but it wouldn’t do to be evicted and so he gathered up his things. He tossed a few coins on the table to pay his tab and left the bar. Stick did not follow, true to his instructions. Instead, it was Locke who approached him as he made his way down the street.

“I believe you forgot something,” Highlord Tekiel said, holding out an open and empty hand.

Lo-Kag squinted at it, “I don’t see anything…”

Locke’s shardblade appeared in his open hand, point buried directly in Lo-Kag’s heart. He pulled it free as Lo-Kag slumped to the side, eyes burning.

“It was the Desolations that you forgot about,” he said to the corpse, “Do you wish to bring them upon us again?”

With a thud, Ana Lyst landed by Locke’s side.

Locke turned, “What has happened? I left you to watch Lady of Chaos.”

“Chaos is dead, my lord. An assassin took her as I watched.”

“Did you follow the assassin?”

“It is not wrong to kill those deserving of death. You taught me that yourself.”

Locke nodded, impressed.

“Shall we retire to my estate?”

Ana Lyst nodded, as did Stick.

*****

Far away from Kharbranth, at the estate of Highlord Locke Tekiel, three men stood in an upstairs conference room. Locke, Ana Lyst, and Stick. The last of the proto-Radiants had fallen, and the Desolation had been pushed back.

Locke brought out a bottle of fine wine from a cabinet and poured three glasses. Three hands reached out and took one.

Locke raised his glass to his lips. “Let justice be done,” he said, and drank.

The others followed, “Let justice be done.”

Edit: I will explain my vote on Eternum last cycle. One sec

Okay, so last cycle I didn’t have many ideas. I had looked through the backlog and didn’t know what to do—I made the bad decision to bring up arguments that had already been refuted. Eternum did nothing else to get accused, so all the same stuff would be said. I apologize, especially since I didn’t remove it during my talk with Steel, being online at the time.

Now for an analysis of the writeup.

...What in Damnation just happened?

Edit: Storms! We've been killing the wrong people. If the Inmates aren't.. Who are we even supposed to get rid of? What even is our wincon?

Sorry, minor write-up error; I had LivingLegend voting in two places. The last vote on LivingLegend should be Stick, not LivingLegend. The write-up has been fixed.

So Orlok, Amanuensis, and _Stick_ have already won. That was fast.

Player List:

1. Walin: Nalter, a tastespren scholar
2. Jondesu: Div
3. Devotary of Spontaneity: Akhanaka, a fearless ardent
4. Eternum: Aiden
5. Droughtbringer
6. STINK: Trumpet Guy, BWOOT
7. Madagascar: "Mad" Mapadonet, a famous pig researcher.
8. Herowannabe: Nabbers, a Herdazian chouta street vendor
9. Coop772
10. Ecthelion
11. Steeldancer

At least one of these players is evil. At least one player who is not an Escaped Inmate has a kill role, unless a kill got redirected somehow. Someone has just changed alignment.

Okay, so here is what I think happened:

We misjudged livinglegend. They weren’t an elim, but the elims were too good at staying hidden to prevent votes. So I’m going to say that either Jondesu is an elim, and got some friends to change their voting on him, or the people didn’t find him suspicious.

Also, the Skybreakers wanted to kill all proto-Radiants, so there are no more of those left. All other abilities are non-Radiant.

Image result for shocked pig

@Elenion are Orlok, Stick, and Aman still in the game (by which of course I mean the game of life) or does "left Kharbranth" mean they've ditched us for good to go live the good life in the highrises and abandon all their old friends from the hood?

The pigs have noticed the last non-pig person (some people just say "person" but I find that super anthropocentric) person that the crazy guy Kynedath voted for was Steeldancer. Maybe that means Steeldancer isn't crazy? It could be a feint, or maybe Steel changed his alignment, I guess, but it's a data point worth noting. I spent more time wading in mud than keeping up with arguments, so maybe that's what everyone thinks already.

Speaking of ... Nabbers, the pigs are threatening to go on strike. While your stance on hiring the non-human is admirable, they have become spoiled and demand more. They want a pay raise and a 10 minute mud wallow break for lunch.

Alright guys first off I'm sorry for like not being here this cycle but I was trying to get some work done before going on holiday then had a friend over and all that stuff so basically mobile only for the foreseeable future.

Moving on from that, gotta say I'm surprised to see three people just win the game after what, 3 or 4 people died? Guess that's one against the predictive powers of STINK.

Also looks like there never really was an alignment scanner, which I'm always glad to see no matter what as they nearly always turn into 'follow the cop' which kinda sucks if you're not a cop. These thoughts are starting to seem quite scattered tbh but I'm on that Domino's high (only 20.99 for a banging deal)

Also should probably get onto the meat of the write-up other than like three peeps being. That being the alignment change. I think I can summarise my thoughts in like three ways (as the open your mind guy).

1. Changing of Alignment wording means that it could be good to evil/neutral, evil to good/neutral, neutral to good/evil.

2. Of the options, it's not likely for it to be evil to good or evil to neutral, however the other options cannot be ruled out so easily.

3. I honestly think that maybe someone changed alignment to neutral specifically, those being the spybreaker apprentice. Have two reasons for that but cannot eloborate rn as holiday packing is about to commence.

Enjoy your Tuesday/Wednesday folks

Nabbers' eyes widened as the town crier finished crying the events of the previous day. "Wow..." he muttered, then straightened up taller. "Welp, there's only one thing to do in this situation. Who wants some chouta? Special deal, today only! Buy one get one half-off!"

(Seriously though, I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything that just happened and what it all means).

Wow, they've only worked here one day and already they're making demands and threats?

"Welp, here's the thing fellas... or is it ladies? I never did figure out how to tell porcine genders apart... Anyway, sales are down. I don't think we sold a single chouta yesterday. So, this means that we're going to have to downsize."

Nabbers scratched his chin and studying both pigs with a scrutinizing gaze. "Plumpy- that's your name, right? Well, Plumpy, I'm afraid I have to let ya go. No hard feelings, and to ease the blow a little bit I've got a nice severance package prepared for you. If'n you'll just step through this door we'll get ya taken care of."

Sometime later, Nabbers reemerged from the door, which happened to be the entrance to the butcher's shop- and began harking his wares again: "Bacon-Chouta! Come and get it! We've got Bacon-Chouta, Sausage-Chouta, Porkchop-Chouta, Ham-Chouta! Limited time only, come and get it before they're gone!"

@Elenion You've listed both Proto-Windrunner and Proto-Bondsmith as having the same power. Was that intentional?

Also, do did the skybreakers have a kill ability? Because the writeup seems to suggest that they killed Kynedath. Or was that just for flavor?
