Case in point: I found a family of California Quail in a flower bed on BYU campus this morning, and I never would've known they were there if I hadn't heard the babies peeping and taken the time to look for the source of the sound. Everybody else walked right by, completely unaware, except for one guy who thought I was taking pictures of the flowers until I pointed the quail out to him. (5 photos in the spoiler) Spoiler Dad quail peeking over the tops of the flowers at me: Dad quail posing more cooperatively for his portrait: Baby quail in the center back and Mom quail in the front left: Baby quail learning to feed him/herself: Mom (left) and Dad (right) with one of the babies in the center.
