Mid-Range Game 14: The Canim Fury

Looking back over the vote tallies, it looks like my vote was changed onto Burnt, cause I kept my vote on Phatt last cycle.

 

This was earlier in the Cycle, before I revealed I'd targeted him with W1. So it appears he wasn't going to reveal he'd changed his own vote, which is pretty suspicious imo. I'll move my vote from Araris to Gamma now, since I think I'm more suspicious of Gamma at this point.

 

I'm going to sleep now. Weddings are exhausting. :/ I'll probably look over Gamma's posts tomorrow sometime and decide if I want to move my vote back to Araris or Joe, but I think it's probably gonna stay on him for the rest of this Cycle.

Gammax sighed. It looked like there was no avoiding it. It's not even my bloody fault, he thought, blaming the memories once again for his predicament.

 

How was he to blame, when he woke up not knowing who he was, or where in the great furies he even was. But they put a knife in his hand, and told him he'd know what to do. And the part that scared him most was that he did know what to do. Those bloody memories, once again.

 

Lexa and Heaven were friends. Gammax might not have known who they were, exactly, but that didn't stop them from calling him comrade. Allies together, trying to inflict their fury on the unsuspecting camp, preventing them from ever returning. He was sure his memories could tell him why that was important, but he found he couldn't really care anymore.

He was surrounded. And worst of all, he still didn't even know how he got here. He drew in earth energy, pulling the ground up around himself, trying to protect him from whatever would come next. He then held up a hand, focusing his energy. His anger. His fury.

Straining himself and pushing as hard as he could, he flung a hand out towards Dominus.

"This is all your fault!" He yelled, the burning fury within coalescing into a burning ball of fire in his hand, the swirling chaotic flames reflecting the storm within himself. "I had no choice! I didn't even know who I was!" His voice reached a frantic pitch of hysteria, the spinning flames reflecting wheels of fire in his eyes. The fire launched from his hand, a missile flying straight towards it's target.

 

And then the fireball sputtered out and died before even reaching halfway to Dominus, the flames just puffing out of existence in a flash of smoke.

Gammax cried out and collapsed to the ground, falling onto one knee to hold himself up, his head hung in defeat.

"If only I was stronger....." he moaned, his voice wavering desperation and anguish. "I just...... I needed more time. Then I could've known."

He looked up, staring Dominus straight in the eyes. And a small grin appeared over his face.

"I think.... I think I understand the memories now. This all seems familiar. It feels.... right. Like I've been here before and this is how it's supposed to happen. I finally have peace. And I thank you for that."
Now you guys just need to start wondering whether I have a secret role that needs me to get lynched or not.

Okay guys, here is what I have. It's not a full player list, but it sums up everything that stood out to me reading through the first two cycles. Here is a spoiler with the notes O made for myself, and I'll elaborate.

Phatt and Joe both have plans for protection roles, so I doubt they are on the same team.

Conquestor voted for me with no reason and didn't retract after I  posted

Gamma says a list of priorities is useless, except maybe not in this game

Lopen points out the super noncommittal response I made to Joe

Hellscythe voted for me despite thinking that I hadn't done anything suspicious

Bugsy derails the thread a bit by indicating secret roles

Phatt and Winter jump onto this idea fairly easily

Lopen suspects me because traitors might have a second kill

I agree that traitors might have a second kill

Aman thinks the person who attacked Straw is loyal

Mailliw is cryptic about Joe and makes unhelpful posts

Joe decides that Mailliw is probably not a traitor

 

So right away, Conquestor and Hellscythe both seem suspicious to me, since I made a really lame, noncommittal response to what Joe posted, which is a perfectly good reason to suspect me, and yet both of them said their votes had no reasoning behind them.

 

Gamma came off as suspicious to me as well for saying something noncommittal about what Joe posted, but I don't want to point a finger here since I had a very similar response, and agree that priority lists both are usually useless and might have a place in this game.

 

Lopen pointed out my comments to Joe as being lame, which seems like a pretty villlagery thing to do. And since HS and Conquestor both failed to point that out, I doubt Lopen would be an eliminator on the same team as either of them.

 

Bugsy seems pretty suspicious to me for managing to derail the thread a bit with discussion of hidden roles and the like. Phatt and Winter both seemed willing to accept that hidden roles could be super influential in the game, which I find also to be suspicious, since we have no evidence anywhere that something like that might exist. Derailing the thread is just not helpful.

 

I think that it is fairly likely that the traitors have a second kill, due to all the redirection, roleblocking, and kill roles that are potentially floating around this game. That being said, so early in a game I strongly disagree with using roles to determine who gets lynched. This is primarily in response to Lopen, who is suspicious of me because of my T3 metalcrafting. If you guys think I'm suspicious because of my role, then please kill me during the night (just get 3 people working together, not too hard ). But if you lynch me because of my role, you won't get any useful information.

 

Mailliw came off as suspicious to me in his exchange with Joe. But I just don't like his playstyle in general, of hoarding information and so forth, so I'm not really sure about this one. It does seem unlikely based on this exchange that both Joe and Mailliw are eliminators.

 

So that is a decent summary of my thoughts so far. I'm gonna vote Conquestor I guess.

Gammax finally knew his purpose. He knew what he was supposed to do, and who he was. He was born to die. And he reveled in it.

 

The rest of the encampment had been set up as a perimeter around him, all those snarling, accusing faces keeping a close eye on him. Multiple guards were stationed around him, with more and more people coming by every hour to join in the frenzy. And Gammax gloried in every moment of it.

He waited until there were as many people around him as possible, waiting for the best moment to strike. He may have told them he was a traitor, and they weren't taking any chances.

 

But they seemed to have forgotten about his furies.

Fire was by far his weaker of the furies he possessed. But in earth he was quite proficient. Not a master, he had learned the hard way,  but enough so that he had learned a few tricks. Or remembered them. Now that he had accepted his fate -- to be killed by his peers -- his memories didn't seem to plague him as much. He wasn't as haunted. Instead, he'd take out all of his anger and mistrust, all of his anguish and fury and give it a purpose. To die.

He heaved up a surge of earth magic, throwing the ground up into the air, tossing chunks of dirt and rocks about like a handful of pebbles around him. He didn't have enough skill to aim it and try and maim or injure anybody. No, that wasn't his goal. It was a distraction. For as everybody was recovering from the sudden blast of magical energy, Gammax was running, dodging in between captors and sentries trying to grab and tackle him. He may not be strong in fire, but he was strong enough. He sent small streams of flame, tickling patches of cloth and tents around him, igniting any flamable material he left in his wake as he fled.

He smelled the smoke before he heard the first whoosh of flames as the dung wagon caught aflame, igniting almost instantly as the fire tickled the straw. The smell certainly reflects this campsite quite accurately, Gammax giggled to himself, as he hurled another fireball behind him, dodging behind a wall of earth he tossed up on the perimeter of the camp, ducking behind and leaving shouts and panics of alarm behind him.

 

He looked up at the sky, and marked the setting sun. He had a few hours left to live. Plenty of time to die properly; as he needed to.

 

Gotta love having fun with the RP! And keep the votes coming, Gammax will thank ya for it later!

Well Lopen, I didn't actually look through today's thread when I posted that, so I hadn't realized that Gamma had confessed. So I supposed I can change my vote, although it doesn't seem like it matters at this point. Conquestor. Gamma.

As Gammax ran for his life and threw fireballs, Parth realized something. He didn't think that a traitor would try and run, they would confess or they would try and convince everyone that they are not traitors. He ran over to Gammax and said "Your not really a traitor are you?" I confess that I thought he was, but I no longer wanted any innocent blood on his hands.

Ok look, I know it looks like he did, but I don't think so. I am going to vote for Lopen . He just has been jumping around everything, but still managed to make it look like he was doing something helpful. It is also a gut feeling.

Cycle 4: The Fires of Chaos

The company was making good progress back towards friendly lines. This was decidedly a problem, Gammax had decided. His lord needed the First Aleran to be a failure. Easiest way for that to happen was for the Canim to catch them unawares. But that wouldn’t happen if the Opio reached the camp. But the Opio, and Luxet, were too well protected, and the process of thinning the ranks was too slow, even when they were helped along - Amuro had camped apart the previous night, and overslept. He must have gotten lost. Or eaten.

Gammax decided he was going to have to help the Canim catch up. Once things had settled down that night, he started working. In short order, flames rose high, consuming the companies consumables. It was glorious! As he watched the flames rise high into the sky like a signal fire, he saw a figure, a first responder, rush up to find out what was happening. As he laughed maniacally, he threw his dagger, flying true until at the last minute, a gust of wind knocked it aside, only for the dagger to find itself lodged the throat of the approaching Sienis. He instantly dropped, gurgling as he tries to vocalise his shock, before his eyes go dim. So taken in by the blood and fire, Gammax was still laughing as a sword swung from behind. His body slumping to the ground, his head rolls forward a few feet, coming to a halt, with a grin still on his lips.

When the flames were doused, little remained of the food they had but ash. “I’d say we have three days left on strict rations, sir,” said Luxet to Dominus as he cremated Gammax’ body as he’d done to Mulciber. “Four if we live off the land.”

“Which means spending more time hunting and less getting back to the legion,” he said wearily. “Very well. We’ll just have to make it back before then. And there had better not be any traitors in our midst when we get there.”

Luxet smiled. “If they keep revealing themselves as they have, there won’t be.”

“Perhaps not. But what if they’re just distractions, big flashy shows of treachery to hide one quiet traitor sliding their way into my trust?”

She shook her head. “I think you’re being a bit too paranoid, sir. At this point, I don’t know if these traitors are capable of that much planning.”

“Well, we’ll see, I suppose,” Dominus said. “Hopefully that seeing doesn’t include a knife in my back.”

“They won’t,” said Luxet with finality. “No one will put a knife in your back while I’m around to stop them. That’s my duty, after all.”

He smiled. “Thank you, Tesserarius. I’m sure that’ll help me sleep better tonight.”

“I certainly hope so,” she said, smiling. “Our Optio needs his rest! We have another long march tomorrow, after all. Go, get some sleep. I’ll stand watch.”

“Yes, Mother,” he said teasingly, but turned towards his sleeping roll all the same, leaving Luxet to gather up Gammax’s ashes and scatter them to the wind.

Yay! Got another one!

 

In response to Conq's vote on me last Cycle, I think I should be mostly cleared at this point, for revealing I targeted Gamma with W1 last Cycle, which revealed that he moved his own vote and is the sole reason we lynched him.

 

To let players know what my Actions were once again, I targeted myself with W1 again and roleblocked Araris with W2 again. I find it highly likely that he's the eliminators 2nd kill, given SD is cleared(imo) and Seonid is revealed to be a villager who had 2 kills at his disposal and there has been no evidence to suggest any other kill roles out there.

 

Other than Araris, I don't really have any other big suspects. I still think Joe is fishy, but given Gamma tried to lynch him on C1, I'm less suspicious of him now(I could still definitely see him being evil though).

Sorry for voting for you Lopen, the reason I voted for you is because of something said in a pm. I also didn't expect him to be guilty for the reason I said earlier.

Edit : I am also beggining to think that their is one tier three for each fury.
