He was 16. Honestly, he lasted a good year longer than any of us expected him to; he had a stroke in late 2015 that hit him pretty hard, but he stuck around and kept going. It does make me worry, though, cause Leia turns 15 in a little over a month, so she's getting up there in years, too. But...she doesn't seem to be aging as quickly as Obi did. So she's probably good for a while yet.

Sunbird she/her Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Aww @Kaymyth I'm so sorry to hear that Obi-wan passed away. I've lost pets too, and it sucks. *hugs* There's a nice poem by Steve and Diane Bodofsky called The Rainbow Bridge that I like to share in this type of situation: By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run, When their time on earth is over and done. For here, between this world and the next, Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land, they wait and they play, Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued. They romp through the grass, without even a care, Until one day they start, and sniff at the air. All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back, Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack. For just at that instant, their eyes have met; Together again, both person and pet. So they run to each other, these friends from long past, The time of their parting is over at last. The sadness they felt while they were apart, Has turned into joy once more in each heart. They embrace with a love that will last forever, And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together. 9
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 (edited) My internet bill went up. Not by a lot, but still—I felt I deserved an explanation, since none was given to me. So I got on their live chat. I've been on for nearly twenty minutes. The agent is apparently still looking for the information. "Still looking" my chull. I have the sneaking suspicion they're trying to get me to disconnect so they won't have to explain the rate increase. I CAN DO THIS AS LONG AS YOU CAN YOU CAN'T GET RID OF ME THAT EASILY Edit: Forty minutes. I spent FORTY MINUTES to be told that the modem rental price went up one dollar. StrikerEZ he/him Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Dang it, freaking Patriots. I didn't want the to win!
Briar King Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 I knew during that Falcon drive in the last 4 mins would cost them win. Morale went to 0 while Pats was on a rocket. 1

I don't know what his deal was, but I'm getting a door alarm. And now this has me feeling all paranoid, since I know he lives in the same building I do. It's awful—most everyone else I've met at my complex is either really nice or completely indifferent, but this one creeper has me wondering if I could go full-on Home Alone with setting booby traps until my door alarm arrives. One guy shouldn't be able to make me feel unsafe…but he did.
Briar King Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 As in he may steal dog to sell or just perv mode or both?

Maybe one or the other, maybe both. Either that, or he's just being judgmental in a really overt and creepy way, which might stop there or might escalate. I'm going to try and surreptitiously record him the next time he does that, just in case.

I think he might. I'm fairly certain I know which one he's in, too, but the knowledge makes the noises I think I hear at my door sometimes take on a more sinister tone. I'm friendly with some of the maintenance guys around here, and I usually run into them when I come home on my lunch break. So I'll bring it up with them when I do. I know they're not security and therefore might not have any power over this situation, but even so, at least someone on the staff will know what's going on.

Friends of mine had their house broken into a couple years back. Their front door was kicked in, some things in their living room rummaged through. However - nothing was taken. Nothing. Including the bit of cash that had been left on a bookcase in plain sight. You see, these friends are amongst my pagan circle. And their living room is chock-full of pagany things. A painting of the Greek goddess Eris on the wall, various other god statues around, some other weird art in various places. Bookcases stuffed full of weird occult tomes. A stuffed, lifelike raven clinging to the chandelier. We think the thieves broke in, started poking around, and then started noticing what they were surrounded by, and decided to run far, far away. 9

Heehee. I doubt an intruder would be deterred by a single dreamcatcher and some Harry Potter wall art. Edit: But a full color pic of a screaming Gary Busey might help....
