TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Eesh. Hope you're able to get that taken care of without too much of a headache. Stupid pole. I found a headlight repair kit on Amazon for pretty cheap, and while it's not going to make the thing look perfect, it got good reviews. So that should save me the cost of replacement. The thing I'm more concerned with is the dent in the rear bumper. Not only will that have a pretty negative impact on resale value if I don't get it repaired, but it'll also be an expensive one. Not to mention that my parents will be visiting in August and are sure to comment on it. Seriously, why do they even have those little half-poles at gas stations, anyway? Are they hoping drivers back into them?

Mestiv he/him Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Tell your parents that someone bumped your car or something maybe?
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Tell your parents that someone bumped your car or something maybe? Not a bad idea. I could tell them it was a hit-and-run after I switch over to my own insurance. Right now I'm on theirs, so they'd know if I did (or didn't) make a claim; and if I didn't make a claim when someone hit my car, they'd want to know why. If I'm not on their insurance, it'll be none of their business. An accurate representation of the average gas station architect: This is the most accurate thing I've seen all day.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Well, upon the advice of some random people on Yahoo! Answers, I decided to look around for replacement bumpers so I'd only have to pay for installation. It's not going to be cheap, but at least it won't be terrible.
Briar King Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 So they are coming for 1st visit in the hottest most humid hell month of the year...atleast you can grin inside knowing they will be miserable while your tolerance builds up from May through July.

I like to think of it as karma. They never asked me when would be the best time for my schedule; they just said, "We're going to visit you in August." At least my tiny apartment will protect me from overnight visits.
Orlion Blight he/him Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 We'll make their trips as hard as possible I'll fill the tank of their rental car with Cajun seasoning! Then at night, we stuff their shoes with crawdads and gumbo! Other nights, we blare avant-garde jazz at unholy hours! 2

They're to keep people from bumping into the pumps and damaging their mirrors, as well as to just make sure people can't pull up so close that they have no space to fuel. I like to think of it as karma. They never asked me when would be the best time for my schedule; they just said, "We're going to visit you in August." Delightful Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Just wait until the first time you say, "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that won't be possible. That won't work for me." Oh I want this on video
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Mom: Did you get insurance for your car yet? Me: No. Mom: Well, I need you to do it by Wednesday. That's when the rest of the family is switching. Gee, Mom, it's not like I was hoping to do it next pay period so I wouldn't have to dip into my savings or anything, but thanks for not even asking.

Just think of the positive, the more of these things that you do the less and less control or even influence she will have on your life. With that said, having to dip into your savings sucks, sorry about that. Edit: Here is a smiling Sloth: Edited April 25, 2016 by Iron Eyes 2

Briar King Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 (edited) I seem to have been hit by a truck in my sleep last night. I've been so healthy the last few yrs it's making these past 12 hrs feel like the end of times. Ed: I'm feeling so bad the thought of passing one night not burning my stump has crossed my mind. To better understand I burn every night whether it's a 20F winter night or 90F summer one. Only thing that will stop me is (heavy) rainy one for obvious reasons. Edited April 26, 2016 by Briar King
Delightful Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Hit by a truck in your sleep? Burning a stump? ......can I ask for the English version please? 1
Left he/him Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Hit by a truck in your sleep? Burning a stump? ......can I ask for the English version please? Hit by a truck is like saying you feel like you were run over in your sleep. So very sore, tired, not good. Ummm, I have no idea about the stump. Do you have s literal stump you set alight each night?
Delightful Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 That is.....a very interesting expression. I'm guessing it's American? I've never heard it before.
Orlion Blight he/him Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 That is.....a very interesting expression. I'm guessing it's American? I've never heard it before. Would it make me sense if it was said "I feel like I was hit by a lorry?" 1
Delightful Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 (edited) It was the sleep bit that confused me. And that briar King said "I seem to" rather than "I feel like". I was thinking 1) how do you seem to get hit by a truck? You'd think you would know one way or the other. 2) where are you sleeping???? Edited April 26, 2016 by Delightful 1
Quiver he/him Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Hit by a truck in your sleep? Burning a stump? ......can I ask for the English version please? See, I misread that as 'stamp', and now I can't help but wonder what would happen if you carved a soulstamp on a piece of metal and an allomancer burned it... 2

Briar King Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Sick breath is so disgusting! I did indeed burn some on my stump last night. I love having my fire each night.
