Ink he/him Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 When you see an Aon on a fellow employee's badge clip nad get excited, but then they said they were just doodling and what is an Aon? Needless to say I was dissapointed. I would have taken a picture but my camera isnt working. When you are watching LotR for the first time and draw paralells to Sanderson's works. 1

First of all, "for the first time"? Congrats and welcome to the wonderful world of More-Worldbuilding-Than-Sanderson. It's not a place you commonly come across. Second of all, what parallels did you find? 1

I've only seen FotR. Connections: Sauron is Odium, Sauroman is basically Taravangian (he serves the most poweful master)... that one thing in the dwarves cavern is an Unmade, uhh... and I know I had some others, but I stayed up late watching it and forgot. Those are the ones I remember Edited October 1, 2018 by Inklingspren 2
+Sorana she/her Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 (edited) When you sort a huge part of your bookshelf new to find a good spot for Legion. (It's full I have no idea where to put Skyward, or the others still lying around. They trusted me with their pages and stories and I don't even have a nice, warm place for them to stay.) I had to get a whole new bookshelf last year to accommodate my collection. I tend to buy books that I don't want to wait for at the library. ...And I also use the shelves above my desk for books... ...and my nightstand has like a half dozen... You get the idea. 1
PrinceDusty he/him Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 When the best(and only positive) thing about the move to Utah over the summer is you can attend all the Sanderson signings!!! seriously guys i'm so hyped 4

I get the idea. I also have a stack close to the couch in the living room. And the one on the nightstand is a good friend of mine. And I bought a new bookshelf this january. But now I'm out of walls where to place them. Thankfully I lend books to my friends, about 30 are travelling at the moment. That also helps... I have to admit that I buy almost everything I read. Because I read through the fantasy/ sci fi books at my local library years ago. The serious problems of a bookworm.
Silva Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 (edited) When you read all day but still feel deprived since your hold on Legion refuses to become available. And when you see the startling resemblance between Divergent's plot and that of The Girl Who Looked Up. Spoiler Though one should never compare the two because Divergent is that awful. Edit: And then your day becomes made because your friend texts you that she's going to drive you insane the next day with talking about TFE. Success after a long fight of even resorting to advertising it as a romance. Edited October 3, 2018 by Silva 2

PrinceDusty he/him Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 (edited) I seriously couldn't even finish the first book. Describing Divergent is the only time I don't feel silly using the word 'deplorable.' Edited October 3, 2018 by PrinceDusty
Steeldancer he/him Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 When you nearly go nuts over the discussion of Divine investiture and Adonai in Book of Mormon class. 4

Ishar Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 When in history you are learning about the social pyramids of ancient cultures and comparing them with other ancient cultures, and in your head you are comparing them with Alethkar's social structure. 4
Reckless Reader Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 When you make a mistcloak for Halloween. Seriously, I am so hyped for this. It has embroidery on it, and I'm going all-out with making metal vials, a coin pouch, everything. I am going to be wearing shoes though... 5

It was super fun, although only one person recognized who I was at our family Halloween Party. And I didn’t have vials, but I did have a coin pouch. 2

Only 2 people I know would even have an idea of what a mistcloak is, but about 5 would know of Shardplate. And if not, I could just be a really cool knight (radiant) YKYASFW the first thing you do every morning is check the shard. when you see something called "radiant shine" and you instantly think "you mean stormlight?" 2
Ethan_sedai he/him Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 when, in a discussion in English about Theseus's Ship, you first make a parallel about how the ship is a sunrise, it isn't a moment, but an event. then when we fast forward 700 years, and we talk about a thief stealing and replacing parts of the ship, and at what point it is no longer the same ship. I said that it wasn't the same ship because now it's purpose is to sit in a museum, instead of being the vehicle for this great journey. then I realized that I was making Cognitive Identity comparisons. when you see this: (not sure which one would load, so I did it 2 different ways to find out.) and you think "whoa, the stormwall!... I should probably get inside." and when you want so badly to be in a dnd group with mistborn rules, but don't know enough sandefans to make it happen. 6
Gancho Libre he/him Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 Oh, I had an idea for how to pull off an Inquisitor for Halloween. If you buy/succeed in obtaining a pair of grey, semiopaque sunglasses (they gotta be circular) you could use them as the heads of the spikes so you can look through them. 3
