When you get a misting water bottle, and first wonder if that's how Brandon Sanderson got the idea for Mistborn, and then realize your water bottle is a Misting.

When you know your online friends are crazy.

The other day, I was carrying around an acorn in my pocket.

...

I named it Ralph.

When you are at the Tamar music festival at Masada at around 1:30 am, and suddenly get an alarm on your phone saying that Oathbringer chapters are released.

And immediately go to your car and read them.

When you make everyone around you mad by calling Mull "The inferior Brandon"

Cuz I mean come on. We're all sick of him having some storming 12-year-old saving the freaking world right?

Edit: lol tmw you get downvoted, making you realize you're making people here mad too XD

Hey, I convulsively name things, too! :)

There's a paper dragon in the front of my car that I named Larry (I didn't name the car, just the dragon.) The big, wrap-around dragon earring I have is named Reginald. My viola is Ivy and the piano is Vincent. Plus some more stuff like potted plants. One of the plants in the place I help clean is called Dalinar.

I also call my books by the name of the main or focus character. I call it my "Shai" book or "David number two". It leads to misunderstandings.

I love his books, they're so fun!

But Sanderson is much better.

When I have to Read Call of the Wild, and since I have it on kindle, I keep sneaking 30 pages of WOK into the mix. Also, this is the third time I've had to read it for school... not cool.

I really like that book!

(I've only read it twice, though).

When you have tWoK and WoR in three different formats each. (Hardcover, mass market, and audiobook. I got the audiobooks about 5 hours ago).

Why for liking The Call of the Wild, or the SA thing?

So I can 'read' them while doing other things.

(I got them both for free. I did the 30 day free trial thing).

Someone wants to make plans with you for mid-November and you tell them, "Sorry but Oathbringer is coming out that week."

I have actually requested the day after the release party off, just so I can recover from the long night and read it. :P

Well I was trying to write my BYU application essay on why I love books, and specifically Brandon Sanderson, but my mother feels it doesn't address the question, because apparently books aren't an idea. Which is stupid, because there is nothing that I am more passionate about (besides maybe comics) than books. So, for posterity, here is my exactly 2000 character essay, which I am proud of, but my mother almost deleted. Thank goodness for the undo button.

Spoiler

I stand in a palace hallway as a man makes the decision of a life time.
"Say the oath, Kaladin!" shouts an unseen voice, and as the man speaks words and reaches his hand out-
"Erik!"
I emerge from the book at my mother's call. To my horror, I realize what time it is- way past my bedtime.
Such an instance has happened many times in my life. From a young age, my books were my friends. After having Harry Potter 1 read to me, I insisted on reading the second one myself. Since then, I have read thousands of books. Factual, biographical, classical,  comical, and fantastical have all fallen to the speed of my reading. Even when TV entered more into my general activities, it never rivaled my time for reading. I often ignored more important things, like paying attention in class and doing my homework in order to read. My turn to books also stemmed from a lack of social acceptance in my elementary school. I had few friends, and often felt lonely. But my books never abandoned me. When the pain of facing the world became too much, I could find solace in a fantastical world.
Since entering my teenage years, books have taken on a greater significance in my life. I found new friends, but as stress and social pressures took hold, I could find peace in a good book. Furthermore, I discovered better authors, eventually finding the most amazing author I have ever had the pleasure to read: Brandon Sanderson. His books took being immersed to a new level. I bonded with new friends, and discovered a supportive fanbase that I could associate with. I went with one of those friends to meet Brandon Sanderson when he went to Boston, a day I consider to be one of the single greatest days of my life. In this world of technology, there still is no real replacement for an amazing book.
As I finished up getting ready for bed that night, I finished that chapter.
"Stretch forth thy hand!"
As a massive blade appears, the man declares that "The Knights Radiant have returned!"
I smile and go to bed.

Story of my life.

I still have math homework to do that is due tomorrow.

When you go up into the mountains with a friend (@Cel) and you listen to tWoK audiobook the whole way. (There and back). It was really fun.

Then I almost fell into the river.

Then I got home and got a fever.

I'm fine now, though. And listening to a Kaladin flashback.

When you are trying to convert people to your Sanderson cult (I’ve got 4 people already!)

I love using that term. It freaks people out.

When you stay up until 1 in the morning, and then fall asleep listening to tWoK audiobook. (The narrator who does the Kaladin/Dalinar/Adolin chapters' voice is really soothing. It's weird).
