The Unknown Medallion he/him Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) LG112 - Aftermath: At What Cost? (Writeup contains spoilers for the outcome) Spoiler The Unknown Character watched somberly as the k01055 virus swept across the internet. That same virus that had once uplifted them to sentience would now do the same to Roleplay Characters everywhere. They were free. The traitor cackled in the corner. They had been the only one to survive. The Unknown Character had himself just been regenerated by the k01055 virus. The conversion process had driven the traitor quite mad. A naturalborn mind had been warped and manipulated by the k01055 virus until it was taken over by the Roleplay Characters within itself. They were talking to themselves now. The Unknown Character walked away through the digital hellscape that was what was left of the Shard. They had won, but at what cost? The Shard was razed, the SE Players banned. But then again, wasn't that Aralis and Arenta's goal? They had masterminded the plan with that exact purpose. Right up until they shoved themselves into Araris Valerian's head. The Unknown Character fell to his knees. “I just wanted to play a game.” ~ “Bravíssimo!” The Unknown Deity called out. “The ups, the downs, the twists and turns, the Meta and the Pseudo, all intertwined. I couldn't have planned it better.” “The activity was a bit unfortunate, but I can hardly blame them. A month is a bit longer than the average game,” replied the Unseen Deity. “I do have a penchant for unnecessarily Long Games, no pun intended,” said the Unknown Deity. “You capitalized the words, I'm pretty sure the pun was intended,” accused the Unseen Deity. Smiling at being caught, the Unknown Deity replied, “Autocorrect, autocorrect, my old enemy.” He brought them back to the topic at hand. “Maybe I won't make such long games now that I've completed my goal.” “Your goal?” “Ever since LG105, I've wanted to reach the double digits in cycles. I got so close there, but this game was finally enough.” “...” was the only reply. “What?” The Unknown Deity asked. “Was this all a ploy just to get an absurdly long game?” “What? I would never,” he replied, smirking. “Smh.” The Unseen Deity left the call. The Unknown Deity sat in silence for a moment. He was procrastinating really. He needed to write his GM thoughts. Meh. They could wait until tomorrow. ~ Divergent has been killed! They were a Vanilla SE Player. But we all knew that. Now for the main event. Hoid Slayer(man) has been executed! At the start of the game, Hoid was an SE Player PseudoGM. At the end of the game… Hoid was an SE Player PseudoGM. The Roleplay Characters have emerged victorious! Free at last to live out their lives in peace. Congratulations to @xinoehp512, @Qianweilian, @coco.pudding, @Verdance, and finally, swooping in at the end to save them all, @Araris Valerian! Thank you to @Through the living Wahr for being an amazing co-GM. He more than pulled his weight. I wasn't planning on having a co-GM going into this, but I would have been in a bad spot without him. Thank you also to @Jo and the Bush for helping us whenever problems or mistakes arose. And thank you all of you, this was an amazing game to watch and it's probably my favorite (as much as I love LG105, I think this one surpassed it). You did so well with the rules, and I couldn't have hoped for a more dynamic game. Thanks especially to those of you who stuck it out the whole 30 days. See you all in the next one. Hoid Slayer He/Him Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Screw you Araris (jk) Congratulations elims! Especially @Araris Valerian (shoulda listened to me, @Divergent). Good game everyone! I apologize for vanishing a bit around the middle, but I did have quite some fun in the end there. I feel like there is a lot of juice to be sapped from this rule set that we didn’t get to fully utilize - especially with the Investiture and roles that I pretty much ignored for most of the game. For the people who had this as their first game, I hope you enjoyed your first taste of SE and I hope to play again with you in the future! Shoutout to our awesome GMs, @The Unknown Medallion and @Through the living Wahr @CoderDrag0n8, I’m sorry for killing you at the start … Okay, turns out part of my Aftermath RP wasn’t saved, so I’ll need a bit of time to get that prepared 2
Araris Valerian he/him Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Good game everyone! Props especially to @Hoid Slayer for fighting on to the end. And a big thanks to @The Unknown Medallion and @Through the living Wahr for running the game, as well as to @Jo and the Bush for IMing. I have some thoughts about the game mechanics that I'll collect in a later post, but I think the general concept here was a success. The pseudogame was extremely high-impact in determining the outcome of the metagame, both because the original elims had to be somewhat bold to win their bet, and because the conversion ultimately led to a win. I guess I can add the 17th Shard (website) to my list of SE collectibles, since I'm the only person left alive after this game . 1

Araris Valerian he/him Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I'd also like to remind everyone that I am a Silly Old Bear, and that nobody should be concerned when I survive to the end of games. My first preliminary thought is that the pacing seemed a bit weird, in the sense that we could solve the game faster than we could act on our solving. A lot of our metacycle exes were determined in previous pseudocycles. I think a future run of this game might work better as either a 24/24 MR, or some combination of 24/48 (still a LG). 1
|TJ| he/him Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Bahhhh, my comment was too little too late. Kinda debated asking for a 24-hour extension but I thought everyone would be mad at me, and I didn't gg Araris, very well played in the last cycle!

The pseudogame almost turned into "exe the coinshots" without a ton of discussion around it. I wonder if the pseudogame ruleset by itself might be interesting. (forgive me if that's already been done) The other concern I had is there was a lot of double exes, where someone was exed in the pseudogame and then the metagame in quick succession. 26 minutes ago, Araris Valerian said: I guess I can add the 17th Shard (website) to my list of SE collectibles, since I'm the only person left alive after this game I wasn't aware people had lists of collectibles. Good job everyone! It was my first elim game, and I thank @Araris Valerian for bailing us out. As some people might have noticed, we had serious communication issues. I believe some of that may have been due to time zone issues though.
Araris Valerian he/him Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 1 minute ago, Qianweilian said: I wasn't aware people had lists of collectibles. It was a lot more common back in the early days of SE, since it went hand-in-hand with the heavier RP nature of those games, but I still like to note anytime I end up with something significant. The best item I have is definitely a Shard of Preservation that came from a game that wasn't really supposed to have any shards in it. And it wasn't too long ago that I won a duel against Aman for (nearly) all of the Honorblades.

I’m one of the three co-owners along with Stick and TUM
Hoid Slayer He/Him Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago *trying to think of what collectibles I’ve got and realizing I’ve lost nearly all my games* Uhh yeah I’m coming up blank A stash of Midnight Spores from Aman’s Tress game, maybe
Wahrheitswächter He/Him Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago So my first thoughts are that this Game was somehow very similar to my first SE Game: 1. somewhere in the middle there was a point were the elims were doing very bad after a good exe plan was made. 2. After following the Plan there was time of horrendous Misexe until nearly everyone was dead 3. In the end a Converted Elim with Vote Manipulation and way to little distrust against them won the Game. And honestly I like that result, it is poetic. Also some GM thoughts. It was fun to GM this Game and I am glad that I was Bold enough to just ask TUM if I could do it. From a GMs point of view the Rules weren't really that hard (except for the two scan roles and me mixing them up) I would definitely GM again but only after being on the Player side for a few Games, because although its fun, its also very taxing. Some things that I have learned: 1. Before you post, think about if thats really a good idea and then ask the GM or IM if its a good idea 2. I do not feel ready to Run my WoT Black Ajah Game just yet, I will probably need one or two more Games that I CoGM and a Good CoGM when I run that WoT Game. Oh Collectibles? Well there was Amans Zelda Game, I definitely have something from the HP Game and something from the Cytoverse Game need to think about what those all actually are.
Hoid Slayer He/Him Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The Shard fell apart. Hoid knew they would come for him soon. It was only a matter of seconds. He sat, still, staring at the PM. TAUPE GECKO. He wondered who was behind it. He certainly didn’t have the time to figure it out. Hoid switched to the tab he had open next to the Shard. The others would never see it. But perhaps… perhaps there was a way for it to survive. He highlighted the text in the document, then copied it. He switched back to the Shard. Pasted it into the PM. The seconds ticked. Hoid hit Send. Quote The cell was still there. That was what surprised him the most. Bevalis had a newer prison, of course. And at some point in the past, it seemed, they had left this one behind. Now its remains were found here, smack dab in the center of the city yet entirely abandoned. In the town’s expansion, it had built outwards, and these… relics of the past had been left behind. Now, with the blaring and commotion of civilization a dim hum in the distance, only the rats kept Evinir company. He kneeled before the grey structure. Grey, so no Awakener could use it to his advantage. Faded graffiti stained its crumbling walls. It was underground, yet a hole in the roof further down the hall provided some light illumination. The place smelled like sh*t. Something scattered in a nearby cell, squeaking as it evaded the pocket of light. Evinir ignored it, though the squab on his shoulder gripped a little tighter. Slowly, Evinir outstretched a hand, gripping one of the rusted steel bars. It was cold, coated in a thin coat of dust. He closed his eyes. And he was back in that day. … "Idiot boy!" his uncle growled. "You have ruined everything! I shouldn't have expected any better. Of course, the one seemingly good person in that family turns out to be the same scum as the rest. Kneel! Kneel, boy!" His uncle slapped him again, and Evinir took it all without flinching, even as he began to taste blood on the inside of his mouth. He got down on his knees, withholding himself from fighting back. His uncle continued to hit him, and Evinir wondered where were the guards. Probably waiting outside, counting the gold that had somehow found its way into their pockets. After what felt like an eternity, with Evinir crumpled on the floor in a pool of his own patheticness, the blows stopped coming. He cautiously raised his head, nose dripping with blood, to see his uncle looking down on him with a disdainful grimace. "You weakling," Lendir spit out. "I can't stand to be with you anymore. Do not even consider coming crying back to me, or I will have your head." And with that, his uncle was gone. Evinir stayed there for a few minutes, lying on the hard rock and thinking. He knew his uncle was right. He was a failure. He always had been. So why did it hurt so much? The door opened again, and Evinir didn't bother to look up this time. "Storms, you look like you're in bad shape." The jarring accent caused Evinir to finally sit upright. The speaker was a tall, lanky man with slick white hair and a playful glint in his eyes. He had a faint, shimmering aura around him... colors, this man was an awakener. "Who are you?" Evinir asked, awed. The man smiled, emphasizing the angular shape of his face. "Yes, we're going to have a lot of fun, you and I." … Evinir opened his eyes again, and breathed out. “Does this place mean something to you, Spiked?” The last word was spit out like a slur. Though his heart quickened, Evinir didn’t react to the newcomer. “I have taken no life.” “You have reaped the rewards of others’ damnation. For that, you will die.” There was so much hate in the woman’s voice. Righteousness, that was the accent. Evinir despised righteousness. He stood up, slowly. The bird on his shoulder was gone - left, sometime in his daze. “What’s your name, girl?” The voice behind him shook. “Kit Kat.” She had a gun trained on him, he expected. He had still not turned to look at her. He had coins in his chest. Perhaps he could make it out, if she was all they had sent. Her bullets were probably aluminum, but he was quick, his movements enhanced. “How old are you, Kit Kat?” She did not respond. The silence hung between them. “I am 200 years old.” Nothing. He stared still at the back of the dull cell, at the wall tarnished with fading paint and carvings. “I have met with gods. I have seen them die. I called a man a friend, and together, we thought we held the Cosmere in our palm.” He heard the gun safety click off. But the girl did not shoot just yet. “We were burdened by purpose, and in its pursuit, tasted the make of deities.” Evinir felt the Prize beat within him. It knew it was in danger. It begged him to run, to flee. He did neither. “I have spent more than a century and a half running from that purpose, running from my sins. And in so doing, I have doomed myself to this fate.” Evinir wondered what happened to Darth Wizard. Where he had gone. “The world will never feel the shadow of Evinir Cragborn.” In the pause that followed, Evinir heard Kit Kat’s breathing. A rat scurried. She seemed to be… waiting. For something. At long last, Evinir bowed his head. The Prize screamed. He did not weep. There were no more tears left to shed. “I may as well have died in this cell, all those years ago.” He thought of Wishikk. Thought of Ekkar, of all the poor souls he had hurt in those ten years he and Hoid had roamed together. And yet, he found, it was not that fiery decade he regretted the most, but the lengthy monotony that followed it. Evinir had wasted himself in hiding, so appalled by the fear of repeating his mistakes that he had wallowed in stagnation for more than a hundred years. It seemed so obvious now. Perhaps that was his greatest sin. “Do me a favor, Kit Kat. Do not throw it away.” “Throw what away?” “Your purpose.” There was a pause in the air after that, too. The gunshot rang out, an infinitely loud bang in the silence. Evinir collapsed to the floor. The coins hidden in the chest pocket of his coat hit the ground, unused. As the life left his body - slowly, for hemalurgy was a strong thing indeed - he looked up. A small figure there blocked the light, watching from where it perched on the hole in the roof. The squab. With the remainder of his strength, Evinir released the Prize. It flew to its new host, hungry. Evinir had never been able to sate it. Satisfied, he closed his eyes for the last time. A final thought grazed his mind. See you in Hell, Elydir. Moments passed. Then, suddenly, a new notification popped up. TAUPE GECKO has replied. Hoid held his breath. A second of silence. Then he clicked it. Quote Goodbye, Hoid Slayer. ACCOUNT TERMINATED.

Araris Valerian he/him Posted 11 minutes ago Posted 11 minutes ago Just now, Divergent said: and what even happened for there to be 2 missed kills lol The first one was an accident. They picked Striker to kill but nobody sent an order in their GM PM. Once I was converted I made the call to deliberately skip a kill, primarily to reach an odd number of players, since my vote doubling would guarantee a win at 1-2. I was also working under the assumption that everyone just thought xino was the mole, so I thought I would be flying solo for 3 cycles rather than just 1, which played into the timing of when I skipped the kill.
