Kasimir he/him Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 LG101: Aftermath - The Last Bridge [pending - some people be 'let's put all the deadlines together at once and I figure y'all prefer a rollover to this.] Nobody was exed! Xino was killed! He was the Fourth Bridge! The Scadrian Saboteurs have won the game! Security Watchlist: Quote Ashbringer (2): DrakeMarshall, The Unknown Order The Unknown Order (2): Ashbringer, xinoehp512 Captain's Logs: Quote Mastersheet Neutral Doc Elim Doc Dead Doc Rosharan Intelligence Debriefing: Quote Going to keep this short because I need to get back to something due "ASAP" but apparently "ASAP" is boss-speak for "tonight." Balance: I feel that in a small game, I should have removed the uberkill. Unfortunately, I forgot to. I also don't feel the Lieutenant and Fourth Bridge belong well together (RIP Xino.) Coffee being the Security Officer and Drake being Drake helped a bit. I think Fourth Bridge makes a good Medical Officer upgrade, with the caveat they'll start playing against the Village at some point. I liked the dynamic with the Lieutenant doc, and I think I'd like to see both variants of neutrals in separate games. I feel SE tends to make neutrals just need to survive, or go full SK, and that can kind of be boring. Shoutouts: I continue to be amazed at how Drake's murderpuppy aura means he somehow does not get exed and repeatedly does not get exed despite being blatantly Evil af. I also think that Xino's interception abilities and historical track record with protects and roleblocks is just unnatural at this point >> Apologies: Apologies to everyone both for the last cycle and the delays! RL was kicking into overdrive there due to some work chain issues. Apologies as well for intervening too heavily, particularly to the detriment of Drake's enjoyment. Clearly I should have trusted Anon's Plan. Thanks: to everyone for playing, and Araris for IMing! Crew Manifest: Spoiler 1. Aeternum - Intelligence Officer 2. Aeoryi - Radio Officer 3. Coffeecat - Security Officer 4. @Ashbringer - Lieutenant 5. @DrakeMarshall - Station Steward 6. xinoehp512 - Fourth Bridge 7. RoyalBeeMage - Research Officer 8. @The Unknown Order - Watch Officer 9. @CadCom - Station Captain 5
Coffeecat she/her Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 Drake made me kill myself Can't believe it!
Aeternum Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 I hope town learned their lesson smh. GGs everyone! Thanks for hosting, Kas! Thanks for IMing, Araris! I liked the set up a lot, wish there were more people in the game to be able to showcase it a bit better.
Coffeecat she/her Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 It was really fun! I really enjoyed it, and has a lot of interesting interactions. thanks Kas! Xino and Drake. I hope you know I will never be able to see you two as village ever again. It just isn't possible.
The Unknown Medallion he/him Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 Thanks @Kasimir,you picked the right distro in my heart. This game was a blast. Thanks to @Araris Valerian for keeping us in check for the last little bit. @DrakeMarshall, we're 2 for 2 on sharing a doc with Kasimir. This game was amazing, even if you did most of the work. Now I just have to read the dead doc Kas kept hyping up.
CadCom he/him Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 Do Y'all ever just open up the docs and Ctrl+F your name? 2

I dare you to try in the elim doc. >:) Also the "Everyone’s TUO in the neutral doc is amazing." Quote Good question, can we kill you in this game You can try Foreshadowing Quote (No reasonable Elim is going to shoot in <RBM, Drake> considering that’s the thunderdome; basically it’s gonna haunt you until you resolve it or until the Village dies, so might as well just get it done for good. The unreasonable elims shooting RBM that night: Quote Who is excited for Ankh-Morpork? I am, but may not have time for it. I am! Woo-oo! Edited August 1, 2024 by The Unknown Order
Araris Valerian he/him Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 I'm going to leave my mod hat on for a moment and address a couple of things. First off, I think the last cycle of this game demonstrates one of the purposes of the IM; they are available to act as a mediator between the GM and the thread. It can be a hard line to walk as a GM to decide when interfering is appropriate, and part of my job is to help with that. I want to see everyone having fun just as much as the GM does. Moving forward, GMs should always consult with their IM before having significant interactions with the thread (basically anything beyond writeups, clarifications, and good-natured trolling). All that being said, I think the stakes were fairly low in this case, so it mostly serves as an object lesson for the future. Lastly, we have a couple of people taking on new roles; @CadCom has volunteered to be a moderator, and @The Unknown Order has joined the rules committee. I definitely welcome the additional help, and hope to be able to play some more games myself in the near future. *Mod hat off* I enjoyed watching this game quite a bit (and wish I could have played myself). Well-played Xino (well, almost) and elims. 1 hour ago, CadCom said: Do Y'all ever just open up the docs and Ctrl+F your name? This is usually the first thing I do after I get access to a new doc . 1

Standard order for a SE Space Game, I suppose. I've got a few thoughts, but I don't think I'd have necessarily changed how I played - I had the weirdness of a changing wincon to deal with, and really I have no idea if Drake would have bitten if I'd PMed him asking for an alignment.

I don't trust elims on a fundamental level. hello hi it's me after the game I suppose I'll freely admit almost everything I said up to the end of D3 was sheer brazen BS that's not what you're talking about though is it still not sure what to make of, well, most of the last cycle, but for whatever it's worth my posts there weren't nearly as calculated as you were selling them to be, you were giving me too much credit if I had a biased opinion about the validity of the elims killing themselves well I came by it honestly at least ...there are some parts of the post in question where I'm not actually very comfortable with the idea of them changing people's minds ...which, in retrospect, might be a pretty good indicator that the game thread during the game wasn't correct the time or place to say those things tbh. I'm not particularly surprised that it was hard to evaluate that at the time though. anyways, no hard feelings about you cheesing the duel, but precedent is real ok now it's your turn, fess up all of your lies during the game Kasbro I know you were trying but I just didn't even know how to proceed when at that moment the 3 remaining options I could imagine to still try to play the game were "convince Ash I didn't betray him" "convince CadCom that Xino is definitely the 4B" "convince people to kingmake for the elims over other options" and all 3 of those were becoming increasingly colored by GM information & commentary one way or the other and then you're like "I'm doing this to make sure everybody can play their win cons instead of just deciding whatever, carry on with your game" and I'm like "welp it's doing the opposite of that for me" and what am I supposed to even do with that it's ok I mean it was just a storming bizarre day all around, but I think I had some cause to be exasperated anyways on a more positive note you already know this but I fully agree with and support making more interesting neutral roles in SE, and I think these roles were good ones I actually think they do work together in the same game (the Lieutenant can be swingy with it's 2 divergent win cons but the 4B is more of a stabilizing influence so debatably it kinda harmonizes?), but probably in a larger game, and maybe just maybe I shouldn't actually be making plans for 34+ player games (....nothing very wrong with a 9-player game though tbh, I mean at least as one data point mu runs plenty of 10-player games even though they could probably run them bigger, for whatever that's worth) I think I can say with confidence that the 4B is an improvement on the IN thanks for running o7 TUO you were a good docbro and I don't think it's true that I did most of the work anyways that's all for now gg have fun reading the elim doc >:P edit: oh also I know this has nothing to do with the game at hand but can I just say HUZZAH for CadCom and TUO stepping into moderating and committeeing respectively Edited August 2, 2024 by DrakeMarshall 1
Ashbringer he/him Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 (edited) Just want to give my 2 cents on Lieutenant: I think I agree that, in theory, the Lieutenant and 4B should have a counteracting effect on each other in terms of distro power, with 4B being more Village-aligned towards the start of the game and less towards the ends, with the Lieutenant being theoretically opposite. But I also agree that in practice it didn't work out that way. Part of that's on me (or rather, on how I chose to play Lieutenant) and part of that's how quickly the small distro approached Exelo without most of us realizing. For those of you who went through the Lieutenant Doc, my style choice was basically to play with the wincon I had while I had it, rather than pivot early and go for the Village wincon. So essentially until D3 I was just playing to keep Drake and Coffee alive regardless of my future Village self. I didn't really have any tools to do that, not explicitly. But I think that's fine compared to how high power the Village had the potential to be, and I definitely had tools I could use - mainly my Vote, or claiming to the thread / Elims to either eat an exe that could hurt my Doc Buddies or avoid them being hit by a stray NK. Claiming ended up being largely unnecessary due to Coffee claiming a Doc Buddy, but I could have if I needed to. Then, everything else happened, which I think was clear to most but again: Drake and RBM tied, Coinshot!Coffee went to take a shot at Xino, Drake predicted a shot at himself and redirected Coffee, which then killed Coffee and made me a Villager. Which lead to many things happening, the primary being that there was only one actual Villager left alive besides RBM (CadCom) which kind of meant discussions were a bit dead. Then everything else else happened and here we are. Could I have Village clutched things? Maybe. I was torn between E!Drake-TUO with 4B!Xino or E!RBM-Xino with 4B!TUO, but ultimately V!me went for RBM again. What probably would have been a different story is if I committed to Village early and pushed Drake with RBM+Coffee on D2 (which I probably would have - hindsight is 20/20 of course but I was pretty sure Drake was Evil at that point, Coffee shot was part of what made me less sure). That was always an option I had at my disposal, and probably one of the more swingy parts of Lieutenant, along with the other alignment-switching role Double Agent. It becomes the game of do you play with the wincon you have, or play with the one you're getting. (Assuming of course the Double Agent is effective enough to get themselves shot->converted.) This ended up being a bit rambly but I think my final point is, Lieutenant was fun, and I could have done it a few other ways. And thus continues AraRaash having really, really rotten luck while in space. Edit: also I think This Song is a good theme for the Lieutenant doc Edited August 4, 2024 by Ashbringer 3
